Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

“Now get out and stay out! We don’t tolerate thieves around here!”

The small figure was thrown out the door, down the steps and onto the ground below, shrieking as she was pushed out and remaining on the ground there for some time. The door to the Green Gryphon slammed shut, shaking the foundation of the building, and the light that had once fallen over the tiny body completely disappeared, leaving her in the shadows of the night. Finally she began to move and with a groan pushed herself into an upright position at the bottom of the stairs. That push had been really unnecessary… the wind had been knocked out of her, not to mention the whole front of her dress was covered in loose particles of dirt.

Sighing, Cassiel pushed herself backward so that she was sitting on the very bottom step. She wriggled on the cold hard wood, not surprised to find that it was hardly comfortable. She lifted her hands and patted down the front of her black dress, coughing and turning her head away when the particles sprung up into her face. A single hand lifted away from her dress to wave it away and she sighed before pulling that same hand through her long, white hair to make sure it was free of grass and leaves.

Once she was as clean as she thought she could get herself, Cassiel whimpered and hugged herself, dipping a hand into her pocket and pulling out a single slice of bread. It was cold and it was dark; the trees in the village had lost most of their leaves and the few leaves that remained were of vibrant colors. It was late autumn, by her estimation – she hadn’t really learned too much about reading so she couldn’t tell what month it was on the few calendars she came in contact with.

Cassiel looked down at the single slice of bread and for a few moments, forgot her troubles and smirked to herself. Silly innkeeper thought he’d gotten all the bread away from her… well, he’d missed one piece! Giggling to herself in a way only snotty young girls can, Cassiel peeled off the crust and threw it on the ground nearby before stuffing the remainder of the white bread in her mouth, chewing, and swallowing. She turned her head, wondering if she could sneak back in to get water, but decided against trying any more. She didn’t want to get hurt again.

Again the little air genasi sighed, her stomach still empty and the cold wind knotting her hair. “Well I just ruined my chances of staying here tonight,” she groaned. “Woohoo me…” She twirled a lock of hair around her finger and rested her head in her opposite hand, elbow resting on her knee.

The loud shout echoed through out the Green gryphon's Inn. Riven sprung up as his bear flopped about his chest. His short legs stretching not even half the length of the bed he was snoring away on. His eyes rolled to the door and then to the open window across the room. His yellow eyes showed slight confusion and curiosity at what was the need for such shouting. Riven in a sitting position placed his hands upon the sheets as he twisted his wrists to turn his small muscular body. Turning he plumped his butt on the edge of the bed.

"Definitely can't sleep unless I am at home, can I?" Riven grunted as his eyes adjusted to the dim lighting about the room. Then finding enough courage he lifted himself to his feet as his silver tarnished war boots clanked about the hardwood floor. His black ponytail stretched to his lower back as he yawned. His strong hand lifted to the air as he quickly sent them back down to his side. A loud bang followed now as he hear a bit of tumbling. Almost as though something was rolling down the steps of the entrance to the inn. Draco observed the walls as he seemed to like the look. The cold autumn breeze sinking into the warm bedroom. Riven stepping forward adjusted himself as he tarnished silver chest plate rested nicely at his shoulders.

Walking towards the window he felt the temperature quickly drop as the late autumn breeze hit his already red, cheeked face. The whispers of the night were silent as he looked out the window. He saw a young, little air genasi. Riven noticed her easily as he had met with one previously at his own home. A man by the name of Anubis, a kind fellow. Riven looking about her noticed she was the one that had been making the ruckus downstairs wakening him up. Riven tilted his head as he watched her get up from the hard fall. Riven was slightly sorry for the girl. Though he was still a bit mad at the fact she woke him up, Dwarf's hated it.

He had a nice good pot of ale in his stomach and the rest he had was easily enough to make him comfortable. He watched as the young one snatched bread from her pocket as she seemed to be stealing form the innkeeper. Riven then knew what he must do, teach her to be a good little girl. Riven walking to the bedroom door quickly grabbed his axe as he latched it too his back. He was always prepared. He grabbed his spell book and left his lantern. Riven heading down the steps looked to the others around as he watched the innkeeper walk behind the counter with a frustrated look. The young girl must have been doing it recently without him seeing. Riven walking to the counter asked the man for some bread a pitcher of water. Riven knew what it was like to need to steal but it was no way to live. There were other honest ways to get what you needed. Riven grabbing what he order headed for the entrance of the Green Gryphon.

Stepping outside the door he looked to his right as he looked to the little air genasi and spoke as his Dwarf accent came about. "Aye' It seems like ye' could use this." Riven said as he placed the pitcher of water and loaf of bread about the steps near the young genasi.

Cassiel’s head whipped around involuntarily at the sound of the door opening. Her eyes narrowed at the sight of him; he was short and stout and his beard was somewhat scary looking. She huddled her small frame against the railing of the stairs, not taking her judgmental, piercing gaze off of him. To be honest she wasn’t sure what to think of him – she could figure out most people based solely on appearance, but not this one. Sighing, her gaze trailed away from him and to the items in his hands. Bread and water… just the sight of it caused her mouth to salivate and she swallowed, her right leg beginning to bounce up and down a little bit. It may not have been the extreme, elegant meals that her mother used to cook, but it would have to do for now.

Once the items were placed on the step near her, Cassiel examined them for just a few moments before picking up the loaf of bread. She placed it in her lap and ripped of a piece of it, peeling off the crust, and stuffing the actual bread part in her mouth. She chewed so quickly that she inadvertently bit off a chunk of her cheek. With her mouth still full she squealed and swallowed the contents of her mouth quickly, leaving her jaw hanging open.

“Owies…” she whimpered, sniffling. Once the pain had subsided somewhat she lifted the pitcher and took a long drink and taking another piece out of the load, repeating the process although this time chewing slower. After swallowing she turned to the bearded man and held out the crust.

“I don’t like that part,” she said. “It’s icky. So you can eat it.” She nodded and offered him an innocent grin, batting her eyelashes. “So why do you have a funny accent, Mister? It’s really weird. And thank you for bringing me this… the innkeeper was really mean because I wouldn’t pay! But I was hungry! He was a poophead.” Cassiel sighed and rested her head in her hands again, pouting. “It really hurt when I fell…”

Riven looked to the girl as she ruthlessly ripped into the bread. Riven heard the light smack of her tongue against the thickness of the inner bread. He watched as she chomped down quickly and paused in the middle. Riven lightly smiled as she spoke to herself. He then stepped down from the stair way as he looked up to the sky and grunted. He was woken up and yet he help the girl. His attitude was being managed by the fact that he felt sorry for the little girl and nothing more. He was a dwarf and his temper easily escalated. Riven averted his yellow eyes to the girl once more as she spoke to him he looked at her as his black beard sat just upon his broad chest. His hands lightly turning pale from the cold as it thickened his scars from war. Taking the outer piece of bread she didn't like Riven slipped it into his mouth as he bit down. Chewing and chewing the nice taste of the bread lingered about his tongue as he swallowed with a hard dry 'morning mouth'.

"Why..." Riven paused as he wiped his hands to his side to get the crumbs off him. "The outer crust is the best part." Riven looked to her as she spoke once more she seemed be thankful and the one that was tumbling about the steps when he had woken up from the ruckus. Riven lightly bent down as he sat across from her on the same level step.

"Aye' I do have a accent at times." Riven lightly sinking his eyes into the water spoke. "May I have some of that water?" Riven asked kindly as he went to grab the pitcher to take a sip and spoke. "My accent is of Dwarven decent from the far reaches of the Mountainous North." Riven replied as he swiped the water from the step taking a light gulp as he pushed the bread through easier down his throat. Lifting his right hand he wiped his wet mouth with his arm as he batted it away to the ground. Riven then asked the young girl as serious question.

"So what's yer' name young one?....Why the need to steal?" Riven quickly asked as he looked to the girl as she rested her head about her own hand as he looked to alight bruise on her leg. "I know one thing you know how to take a hard fall, haha." His laugh outstretched to the air as he thought of it as a joke as he returned his attention back to the girl as he calmly waited taking another sip of water..

This man was crazy. There was no way in hell – woops! – heck that the crust was the best part! It was yucky and hard and definitely not as tasty as the inner white bread. Cassiel snorted, dismissing his opinion because in the end, she knew that she was right and he was wrong. “Whatever you say, Mister,” she grumbled, picking away more of the crust and tossing it in his direction. Some was thrown into the street before her for animals to enjoy, since animals needed to eat too. Especially if they were the fluffy type.

She became tense once he sat on the same step as her. Cassiel looked at him out of the corner of her eyes, her gaze locked on that mass of hair that was sprouting from his face. “It’s a beast,” she muttered to herself, unable to look away despite how strong the urge was to get away from it. It was like a big, huge, ugly, hairy spider! How could she escape when it was so close! Cassiel took a deep break and forced herself to look away, huddling closer to the stairs in attempt to get away. But she couldn’t – she felt like it was watching her! Like it had… eyes or something!

Before she could even answer him, he had taken up the pitcher and was drinking. Cassiel wrinkled her nose; the least he could have done was wait for her permission to drink. He had gotten the water for her and then took it away from her! He had soiled it with his icky hairy lips! Cassiel dug her tiny fingernails into the bread and growled with a pout on her face. “How rude,” she stated indignantly. A sharp sigh passed through her nostrils. “Dwarven huh? Well I’m an air genasi. And I don’t have a scruffy beard. So take that!”

He started in, then, with the serious questions. Cassiel’s brows furrowed and she shifted somewhat, pulling her dress down further over her legs when he pointed out the bruise. “I’m Cassiel. You are to call me Cas. Not Cassie – really.” She gave him the eye to make sure he understood. “What’s your name? And I steal because I don’t have money. All the money we had… well I don’t know where it is. If I had money I wouldn’t be stealing stuff, now would I? That’s a ‘duh’. That hard to figure out? As for the fall… that hurt, Mister! I’m gonna have bruises everywhere!” Cassiel whined. She wanted her Daddy again… but he wasn’t coming back. “It’s not very funny. I’d like to see how you like being thrown out of an inn and down the stairs! No hospitalitalit… ititity…” Cassiel wrinkled her nose. That hadn’t come out right.

Oh well.
