Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Yet again the small rat creature found himself in the confines of Hauntwood Marsh, the furry Moogle moving through the forest quickly as he usually did. It was, once more, night of course and he was looking for anything of interest. It was of course, just about time for those who enjoyed the darkness and shadows to come out.

He didn't look like many other Moogles, he was dressed in finely tailored clothes of incredible quality, likely from a very expensive merchant. His wings were a golden color, and the pom-pom behind his head was nearly as big as his head itself. And of course, in addition to all this and his overly long ears, he also carried a large wooden staff that reached far over his own height of three feet seven inches.

It had been highly uneventful in this marsh as of late, most of the travelers opting to stay outside of it's borders due to the recent hauntings, and...in the more extreme cases, disappearances. It wasn't exactly settling to travel here at night either, and those that simply had to go through the marsh tried to go in the day unless it was absolutely necessary. None the less he was here as he usually was, soaking up the scenery and the moonlight that flickered down between the tree limbs gnarling themselves above him. Perhaps, however, someone would actually be about tonight...if so it may be more than relaxation that would greet him tonight.

The cities, well... most of them, were now sleeping. That was rather unfortunate for her as she had nowhere to get rid of the box once she opened it. Darn those fools who had made her go through all that trouble to get what they wanted only to send her back for this little trinket box. She had told them she wasn't going to go back and get it and they told her she wasn't getting paid, so she half heartily argued with them, was given a few gold, and ushered out of their camp. Annoyed by this she had shadow jumped back to the crashed and slowly sinking wagon in the swamp, retrieved the small box, and abruptly left. See if they liked that.

She had a spell to unlock the box, or at least that she felt would unlock the box, but she didn’t want to risk opening it when she couldn’t be rid of the container while keeping what was in it. AD sighed and stuffed the small container back inside the single pouch at her side. She was dressed in the same clothing she had met those fools in. A soft deerskin bodice and loose fitting wrap around pants tied at her ankles and her winged boots upon her feet. She had no armor beyond a single bracer on one wrist while the other had a wide bracelet on in with a dark stone set into it. She hand no weapons to be seen and was careful to hide her alignment, but anyone who could sense dark power would see that the silver ring about her neck, suspended on a then metal chain, had a dark power all it’s own.

The trees changed a bit as she walked along, but as lost in thought as she was she didn’t notice right away. She had also managed to avoid all rumors about the forest about this area.

Vega suddenly came to a stop, as if something had spooked him liked a scruffed cat. However, in reality he simply caught a sudden and drastic change in the air, one which had come upon him too suddenly to simply be something he missed out of simple lack of attention. If anything in fact, he was paying close attention to the place trying to soak up the atmosphere like a Human, or as the case would be, Moogle sponge. No, this change had come from someone or something rapidly entering the marsh and it did so seemingly without making barely a sound.

He lifted his head, closing his eyes to heighten and focus on his other senses, specifically smell as he took a large whiff of the air before opening his eyes again and bringing his head back down. He had caught a scent close by and it was definitely being caused someone in the swamp. He looked around briefly, drowning out the sounds of the local fauna such as the frogs and crickets, and listened for anything out of the ordinary, his large right ear twitching slightly as he heard a twig snap to his right. He snapped his head in the direction of the sound, looking off in the darkness briefly before walking briskly towards the spot from which he believed the sound came.

Slowly, he began to make out the shape of a figure in the darkness, obviously distinguishable as female when he got a bit closer to it. He couldn't quite figure out what she was however, Human, Elf, or what but then again it didn't really matter. He stopped some ten feet away from her, her features still not entirely visible in the darkness but then again from this distance his features would also be obscured to her. "What brings you to my neck of the woods madame?" He asked with a calm and polite voice as he watched her through the shadows. He waited for a response patiently as he drummed the fingers of his right hand up and down his staff, curious as to who this woman was and how exactly she got here so suddenly.

She had been thinking too much about things again as she walked. She failed to notice that the birds had silenced about her and that she was not as alone as she wished. She also failed to notice that a small black cat, thin and of the purest black, had taken shape behind her and was trotting after her up until the moment a voice came through the air. Then the cat took a seat as if it hadn't just been walking. AD on the other hand drew a dagger from her side that had no sheath at her hip. It glinted in the faint light, a glass dagger. She spun to face the source of the sound and saw the small form. The size reminded her of her dear friend Rith, but it wasn't him. She was sure of that. For a moment she debated just vanishing from here entirely. The darkness provided plenty of shadows for it to be done in a blink of an eye.

Instead, she relaxed her stance and looked right at the creature, seeing it much better then it supposed it could be seen no doubt. It wasn't as if she needed light to see and even if it was a magical darkness, she had only to concentrate for a moment and close her eyes in order to see in that too. Seeing didn't help her one little bit though, as she was completely unable to even identify the creature.

"It depends on who is asking." She replied rather sharply, sharper then she had intended. She was slightly off, not certain if this was someone she needed to worry about in regards to the box she had recently acquired. AD held the blade easily in her hand, the tips of her fingers balancing the weight lightly.
