| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

“There are far too many words and far too few men who know themselves truly enough to boil down their entire being into a single word. My life is a complicated web, and my self ever shifting, but if I had to choose a word that summed my motivations, the one thing that drives me beyond the brink of exhaustion and keeps me moving on, it would be love.” ~Cadence Blackwell .::†::. ![]() General Name: Cadence Blackwell Nickname: Cade Gender: Male Race: Human Class: Graye Knight (akin to a Witch Hunter) Alignment: Lawful Neutral Element: General Secondary Element: Mind Age: 173 (appears mid-forties) Appearance Eye Color: Umber Hair Color/Style: Dark Brown, kept fairly short. Well-trimmed beard. Streaks of gray at temples. Skin Tone: Tanned and Sun-wrinkled Height: 5’11" Weight: 175 lbs. Other: Cadence has aged quite a bit since becoming mortal once more. This effect has been slowed by his contract and binding with an Outsider. The Outsider's nature has burned away much of Cade's ailments and strengthened his figure, smoothing many of his wrinkles. Cadence now holds the appearance of a very handsome older man. Personality Traits: Cadence is kind and honest at his core, but that particular core is buried far below layers of cruelty and anger. Having returned to his antagonistic roots, Cadence has grown into a smooth-talking seductor, having taken a liking to the gain of political power through his House of Pleasures in Taras, The Triste Dama. His old preference of destroying a foe mentally over bleeding him out has returned, though he still relishes the opportunity should it arise. Loyal: Cadence often finds himself at odds with nearly every other creature he comes across. Rarely these unfortunate situations that arise form an unexpected bond. When he manages to make friends, he is fiercely protective of them. Very few things can come between himself and a friend. Iron-Willed: This particular trait became refined as a Knight of the Court, but was also one of his original traits. When his mind is set on something, nothing can shake him from his goal. Having seen nearly every evil Imythess has to offer and then some, he remains unshaken and burns his way through impossible odds on sheer force of will. Cold Fury: Unless in the company of those he trusts fully such as his daughter, or in the safety of the Abbey, Cadence is usually an angry man. Many things fuel the ever-present fire that drives him, but rarely does his anger boil over and cause him to lose control. Scholarly: Cadence is endlessly fascinated by histories. While this is usually centered around the Graye Court and scribing their stories and knowledge, his interest in the rest of Imythess' exploits and events is continually growing. He is usually found in his study in the Abbey when not meditating. Cruel: This aspect of Cade's personality only surfaces on extremely rare occasions, but he is becoming increasingly prone as the exposure to the Outsider Eurynome bleeds over. It takes quite a bit of provocation for it to arise. Usually when exposed to a deep emotional trigger, such as scenes from his past before the Court, he will grow sullen and withdrawn. When it fully emerges, he will unleash his anger in full on the target of his emotion. He takes on some of his old, cold attitude and begins to play with his foe. He will often try to drag out the cruel actions until the target can no longer live or he is broken from the rage. Sensual: Cadence has gained a voracious appetite for sense-based gratifications. His no-longer restrained sense of lust has become enhanced above all others. His brothel has grown oddly successful among the wealthier and middle-class citizens of Taras due to this hunger and ability Background Information Cadence Blackwell is, above all things, a lonely creature. Born in blood with pain being his only companion, the only thing he could ever count on being there, has twisted him irreparably. His childhood was hardened and twisted by his being turned to vampirism, which led to his being cast out of his own society. Opportunity came in the form of Draco Orion, and together they built up a home for the outcasts, a new society for those who were rejected by any other. When one had no other place to turn, the Shadow Society stood with open arms. Cadence held onto this idea and people with a passion to match his foes, those who would hunt his people. Cade views these people as the family he was denied, and more than anything wants what is best for them. All semblance of a personal life, personal goals and dreams have been replaced with those fitting the Shadow Society and their advancement. The desperation he acts with comes from the feeling that he has nothing else. He is scared to become a human once more because he doesn't know if he could ever fit back in, fighting against them for so long and shedding so much of their blood. The only semblance of humanity he has left is his deep-rooted love or the inhumane, and his hatred of any who oppose those he loves. Cadence commits very few truly selfish acts, much of what he does has a purpose behind it intended to help a cause or an individual. He does not, however, stop to consider how much he may hurt people in the process, or frankly care in the least. His self-imposed banishment has changed the man considerably. While still holding a devotion to what and who he holds dear, he has forgotten the joys he once found in causing pain to others. Loss of skill with mind magic has left him with only a rudimentary knowledge of the arcane, little capacity to read anything but emotions. He still performs seemingly random or hostile acts, though as always, they have a non-selfish reason behind them. With the Shadow Society in shambles and its leaders scattered, he had left behind the shreds of hope he'd been holding onto for so long. He was without a cause, putting his skills to work for the slaving empire running in Imythess' shadows to save coin for a cause he didn't know. An opportunity arrived with the meeting of the Graye Knight at the time, a troubled but noble Istani called Auron. The Knight was desperately seeking a way out and away from whatever it was he was doing. Cadence found him weak and enticing at the same time. An opportunity arrived shortly after meeting the man. A gray-skinned figure whose flesh was made up up an alien energy spoke to him, offering the opportunity to take Auron's place as a Knight of the Graye Court. Accepting the duty without fully understanding the implications, he made the deal. His soul was intertwined with the spirit's and many more. Suddenly Cade remembered things that did not belong to him, experiences and knowledge he was not privy to before the deal. He knew the man Auron DeBrouchet and all his past troubles. And beyond that, his immortality, the vampirism that had become central to his being, ceased with his first heartbeat in sixty years. Over time Cadence changed under the burden of the mantle. Fighting for order and balances between the planes, he spent much of his time on Shavarath, the plane that hosts the everlasting battle between the Abyss and Celestia. Nearly fourty years passed there in little over a year on Chaon, aging him beyond recognition of his previous immortality. Now, though aged, Cadence is a strong man with an undeniable determination and notable nobility, aspects that had been common in all Knights of the Court. Time spent so bound to a creature that existed on multiple planes slowly drove Cadence into instability, often driving him to emotional outbursts. Seeking a way out of this bind, he forged a bargain with another Outsider. Instead of being a member of what was essentially a hive mind, he is one with this new being. New avenues of power have opened to him, opening opportunities at every turn. Cadence is no longer a member of the Graye Court, having betrayed them to found the beginnings of another organization.
