| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

“Sorry.” Katsumi tried to close her hands fast enough as he began to escape, but she failed. He was quick, and Katsumi feared she wouldn’t be able to catch him before he would get away. He was definately smaller and faster than her, so it made it very difficult for her to catch him. She would have given up, except Midori messed up and almost flew into the bench. He was trapped between her and the bench. Anyway he could go, Katsumi was sure she could block his way anyways and then catch him. She smiled slightly, even though she would have rathered he just be her friend instead of having to catch him and force him to be with her. Now, he just hovered there and stared up at her. He was so cute, and it seemed a waste to eat him. Katsumi leaned down slighty, and grabbed him gently with one hand. With her other hand she pulled out the small jar that was held in the bag she carried on her right shoulder. She looked at Midori sadly, and began to speak. “Im sorry for this...” Katsumi spoke softly, as she slowly opened the jar with one hand, and dropped the lid. She moved her hand with the fairy boy over the jar. He would definately fit in . Gently, Katsumi put her fist with Midori in the jar, and let go before retracting her hand quickly, and covering the opening of the jar as she picked up the lid and screwed it back on the jar tightly. “I really am sorry, but I don’t want you to leave me. You understand right? Even if you don’t like it, which Im sure you don’t...” Katsumi smiled slightly, before putting the jar on the ground. “I wouldn’t go near the lid for a second. Katsumi pulled the dagger from her side, and with a swift movements, began to stab very small holes into the lid for breathing holes. When she had finished doing so, she put her dagger back. Hopefully soon he would grow to want to be with her and she wouldn’t need to keep him in a jar like a pet or bug. She really did feel guilty. |

Midori felt like he was lifted off of the ground when he was grabbed. Not tightly but he didn't try to run. She looked a bit sad but not crying sad. He only opened his eyes for a second before closing them again, she said she was sorry for this, Katsumi wasn't going to let him leave, was she? It didn't appear so as he was placed inside of a car. Only then did he open his eyes as he was released, now he was her pet for sure, a captive. He was pretty sure this ment she wasn't going to be his friend but more of owner. Once the lid was on he looked up at her from behind the glass. She was definitly keeping him against his own will, was she that desperate for a friend? If he knew it was this bad he wouldn't have tried to run. He sat on the button of the jar quietly and nervus as holes were poked in the top, he would be kept for sure now. He was trying to wonder if being her food or trapped in a jar by her was worse. He couldn't pick which one was. He hated jars that kept him from leaving. He had nothing to live for anymore besides to get out. "Fine, I will be your friend and never leave, just let me out please." he said sounding a little paniced, he didn't expect her to believe him but it was worth a shot. He didn't want to be in here at all, he also feared making her sad from being around her, jar and then belly, both of which he wanted to avoid as much as he could. |

"Fine, I will be your friend and never leave, just let me out please." He sounded panicky, as he sat at the bottom of the jar. She tilted her head in habit, and studied his small features. He looked like he didn’t like being in the jar, but who would? Even she wouldn’t, even more so then him. It made her sad and even more guilty, but still she couldn’t believe he wouldn’t try and fly away from her again. He definately would. “I’m sorry, but I don’t believe that. I know you’ll try to run away from me again, and I don’t want to risk it.” Katsumi said, frowning down at the little fairy boy. She smiled slightly, before continuing. “But, I promise to take care of you as best as I can! I really do! Don’t you want to be with me?” Katsumi looked through the center of the jar at him as she questioned him softly, trying to smile slightly for him, as she poked the jar twice, testing how thick the glass was. It was rather thick and wouldn't break if she by chance dropped it on the ground. Not that she would ever let that happen. |

Midori knew she wouldn't believe him but he still had to try. He didn't want to be her captive at all and knew what he had to risk right now to get out of it. He sat there still worried if he should say this. He nodded at her first statement about taking care of him but spoke up when she mentioned being with her. "I did really want to stay with you, but not anymore. Right now I would rather not be anywhere near you." he said firmly turning away from her knowing this might upset her. It wasn't exactly the truth, he still wanted to be her friend if she will only let him go, but if she keeps him in here he will really come to dislike her, he didn't want to be owned. He ignored the two taps on the glass waiting for her to say something or if she will become sad, if she did she might try to eat him and then he could try and escape, the only problem if that he failed to get away he wouldn't like where he was going to end up. She most likely would cry because she was about to from him mentioning that he might not be her friend. He hoped he didn't just make the wrong choice. "I'm sorry but if this is how you are going to treat someone you want to be friends with, keeping them prisoner, I wouldn't want to be friends with you then." he said meaning that, but still wanting to be friends with her, she obviously did this just to be his friend. |

”I did really want to stay with you, but not anymore. Right now I would rather not be anywhere near you." Katsumi’s frown grew larger as he spoke. He turned his tiny body away from her and her mouth opened with surprise at his actions. She quickly closed it, and in return stared at him, hoping he would turn back and say he hadn’t meant any of what he had said to her. Well she liked that he had wanted to be with her before. "I'm sorry but if this is how you are going to treat someone you want to be friends with, keeping them prisoner, I wouldn't want to be friends with you then." Katsumi’s eyes widened. It was like he kept taking little tiny swords and jabbing them into her heart repeatedly. He was describing her like a jerk, like a monster. She hated it, and it made her feel more guilty than she had ever before. It was pretty much like telling her he would never ever be her friend. He could lie to her and say if she released him he would be her friend, but she would never believe it, not now. “I said I was sorry…” Katsumi mumbled. She had promised she wouldn’t hurt the little fairy boy, and she intended on keeping her promise to him. She had to, even if she was angry or hurt by his words. “I didn’t want to keep you in the jar…but you flew away from me! I had to do it. And now Im afraid if I do you will get away from me this time. Now, because I can’t trust you, I have to keep you inside my jar…” Katsumi frowned down at the fairy boy. It was his own fault, not hers. She had tried to be nice, right? She had only wanted to be friends, and now she would have to treat him like a puppy, except he would be stuck in a jar. It was sort of the same thing though. She would rather have him play with her willingly as friends, but it seemed it wasn’t going to be that way. “Maybe you’ll grow to not be so angry at me. I’m sure after you get to know me, we’ll be great friends.” Katsumi said cheerily, her face brightening as her smile returned once again. She turned slightly to point to her flute that was tied to the side of her leg, wrapped in cloth before continueing. “I can play my flute too, and Im actually pretty good! Ill show you sometime, and you’ll love it so much you’ll want to stay with me forever.” Katsumi said confidently, as she stared at the fairy boy intently now. |

His plan didn't go according to plan, well now he was stuck in this jar until she could trust him enough. He had another idea, he could only relax now. He turned back to her looking with concern, she was sure confident to get him to be her friend. He felt bad for what he said now and couldn't help it any longer, he looked at the ground below him and waited for her to possible take the jar and for her to move on. He doubted she would carry the jar in her hands all the time and he would be kept in her bag. He would have to first apologize. "Ok, I am sorry for saying that to you, I guess" he said unable to look at her when he said that, he sat with his legs slightly crossed but barely and his hands folded in the middle on the glass floor of the jar, twiddling his thumbs. How was he going to say this? "I only said that to get you mad enough for you to try and eat me if you would, so that..." he said thinking about his escape plan, he knew how he was going to get out when she tried to get him out of the jar. He wasn't going to tell her that, she wouldn't go with his next idea if he did. "... so that yeah.." he said feeling guilty for trying to make her feel bad just so he could get away. He still wanted to get out of the jar. "I have another suggest though, I promise I will stay with you if you let me go but I doubt you will trust me anymore though. So if you have any string you would tie me to you or something. I don't know I just want to get out of this jar, please." he said looking up at her for once in a few minutes, he wondered if she would believe that. |

"Ok, I am sorry for saying that to you, I guess" Midori refused to look at her still, and it made her smile lose some of its confidence. She had been taught by her mother when she was younger that you could tell if someone was lying or not by their actions, especially from their eyes, and if they would look at you or not. Which is why she didn’t believe he was actually sorry. She was sure he didn’t mean it, but she said nothing, as she stood up straight, holding the jar in between her hands as she tilted her head and stared at it. She would hate to be in the jar. "I only said that to get you mad enough for you to try and eat me if you would, so that...... so that yeah.." Katsumi blinked. He had wanted to be eaten? She had never known anybody who wanted such a thing. She had thought he hadn’t wanted to be eaten earlier, and seemed rather…scared. It didn’t seem right. It was odd, and it bugged her. Maybe he thought he could fly away when he got out or she opened it. She shook her head lightly, clearing the thoughts from her head. She shouldn’t think like that or she would become angry. "I have another suggest though, I promise I will stay with you if you let me go but I doubt you will trust me anymore though. So if you have any string you would tie me to you or something. I don't know I just want to get out of this jar, please." Katsumi studied his face as he finally turned to look up at her. It seemed like a smart plan, but it seemed sort of fishy. He had wanted to leave earlier, and even more so when she wouldn’t let him out of the jar. He had said they couldn’t be friends now. It made her confused, very confused. “I’m not too sure…” With the jar still in her hands, Katsumi began to walk, focusing ahead of her as she thought about it. She glanced down every now and then as she thought. Why would he rather be held by string, then in a jar? They both seemed pretty crappy to her, and he made it obvious he didn’t like being treated like some sort of animal or pet. Katsumi stopped dead as it occurred to her. String was easy to cut through, very easy. It couldn’t be that he planned to tear it and then fly away, right? That wouldn’t be very nice at all. He would crush her feelings. Katsumi’s face went blank, and in a rather dead tone of voice, she finally answered him. “I have no string.” |

Midori desided he should rest now since she was walking. He waited for her to say something about it, this all could have been avoided if she had asked to be friends in the first place instead of catching him like a butterfly. He leaned against the jar facing towards Katsumi. He should at least get to know her better for now, he only wanted out of the jar. He was going to be here for a while if she said no to that, or she didn't have any string. Must to his fear, she didn't have any. He was able to calm himself and relax a little. He sighed at the thought of being stuck in this jar, he would have to live with it, nothing he would say would get him out of there anytime soon. Now he felt the dread of night crawl upon him, he was tired and all of this didn't help, he was supposing to be finding a spot to sleep right now, he guessed that this would be the place, stuck in a jar held by an over obessesive Elf. "Ok, I know you might want to talk a bit now but I am very tired and hope you don't mind if I fall asleep, do you?" he said waiting for an answer before he actually fell asleep, he was hoping she wouldn't start like telling him to stay up with her or something. |

Ok, I know you might want to talk a bit now but I am very tired and hope you don't mind if I fall asleep, do you?" Katsumi looked down at the little fairy boy. He did look rather tired now that she got a closer look at him. She didn't want him to stay up with her and then fall from lack of sleep. Most people weren't up most of the night like her, so she couldn't expect the poor thing to stay up and keep her company, especially not after she forced him into a jar. "It's okay, go ahead and fall asleep." Katsumi said gently, as she began to walk again. She paused though, and put the jar down, as she bent down, and dug through her bag. Soon she produced a handkerchief and opened the jar quickly, slipping it in before closing it once again. She did it as quickly as possible so Midori wouldn't have a chance to escape. "You can use that as a blanket. I dun use it, so its clean." Katsumi said, smiling gently down at the fairy boy, before picking the jar back up. She was extremely happy at the moment, and would definitely not be able to sleep until she killed off some of her energy. So, without another word, she continued walking on for a bit. Soon, she reached the edge of the town, and made her way to a nearby tree. The lights were fewer out here, and most of the light now came from the moon that had appeared after meeting Midori and walking through the town. She grinned up at the moon, before placing the jar gently on the ground and then plopping down herself. Katsumi sat there for a few moments, before instinctively grabbing her flute. She unwrapped the string and cloth from around it carefully, before placing her fingers in the correct spot, and bringing the flute to her lips. Soon, a soft and slow melody filled the air around her. Katsumi closed her eyes as she played her music, careful not to make it too loud or upbeat that it would scare or awaken Midori. |

Midori was about to close his eyes when the jar was set on the ground, a hankercheif was thrown inside. He rarely got a chance to sleep with a blanket, he usually slept in the open night air, this would be a change. He gripped it, he didn't even bother to try and escape because she would ether clamp him with the cover by accident or catch him with her hand if he did. The hankercheif was much larger then he was and he would he able to wrap himself in it. He wasn't going to be use to this at all. He assumed the glass jar would be warmer then the outside during the night and now he had a blanket. He pulled it up to him and over him, he knew how to use one at least. Lying down on the glass in the center he tried to settle to the movements of her walking and not be disturbed by it, it didn't take long. Soon he was asleep and didn't even notice that he had stopped moving or that there was music playing. He could get into a deep sleep once in a while and now was one of those times. He could only wait for ever how long Katsumi was going to keep him in this jar, wasn't much of a friendship if he was being held against his own will. He had a very weird dream that didn't even involve being alive, he couldn't explain it if he wanted to. |

Katsumi played for a while longer, moving her head only slightly as she did, not bothering to open them. She always got so into her music once she played, that she never paid any attention to her surroundings. It was sort of dangerous, but she tended to play where noone was around, or too many people were around that she could feel safe. She wasn’t totally clueless when she played either, she just wasn’t as aware as usual. After a while, she slowly put her flute down, listening to the last of the musical notes that hung in the air before it became once again silent. She took a deep breath, before letting it out ever so slowly, a small smile on her lips. She always felt so at peace when she finished playing. She almost felt like falling asleep at the moment, but then she spotted the jar and rememberd the fairy boy. Katsumi tilted her head, and moved towards the jar carefully, and began to open the lid as slowly and silently as she could. She steadied it too so that it wouldn’t shake and wake him up. So far she seemed to do good, and she lifted the lid, before ever so slowly lowering her hand into the jar. She slipped her hand slowly under him, and picked him up, gripping him lightly. She turned him slowly, hoping he would stay asleep as she did so, but held him tight enough that she would know if he tried to go away. Katsumi’s eyes widened when she studied his wings closer, and without thought of him flying away, gently placed him on her outstretched legs. She tilted her head out of habit, as she grabbed his wings between her thumb and index finger. She moved them slightly, forgetting not to wake him up. She tugged on his wings, curious to how durable they were, when she stopped, sure she had heard a ripping sound. |

Midori was sleeping still as he was moved, he didn't notice be picked up or turned. The blanket fell from him and he barely noticed. He felt different but his mind or senses didn't pick any of this up. He was put down again shortly after and didn't notice he was being touched on his wings, not at first anyway. After a moment pain rang through out his entire body, his eyes opened with a bolt and a scream of pain shot from his throat. He rolled off of Katsumi's legs and onto the ground below. It lasted only a minute but the pain was still there, throbbing at his back. It took him a moment to realize what had happened, he couldn't feel his wings anymore. He was out of the jar was he was laying on Katsumi's lap a second ago. If he wasn't in this pain he would have been happy to be out of the jar. The pain would subside later but if it had hurt it had ripped from the skin, he had only felt half of this pain before. He had lost one wing before but not both. He scanned up and down Katsumi and saw pieces of his wings in her hands. He wasn't going to think it was her but it was, she had ripped his wings off. He was only able to sit up as his eyes watered from the pain, then from sadness. Why didn't he just fly away earlier when he had the chance, now he wouldn't be able to. Was he to stay with her now, he was willing to forgive her for the jar slightly but now he didn't think he would be able to at all. He would have to walk if he was going to go anywhere. One wing was bad enough a long time about but both now was hard to believe. Sitting up he didn't bother to stand but he moved away from her a bit like he would try and run. What would she do next? He didn't want to stay with her anymore though he might have to. She wouldn't let him leave and he couldn't get away now, and being alone on the ground was not something he planned on doing, well now he had a reason to not be kept in a jar. But was it safer to be on the ground or with her? He wasn't going to think about it much as he continued to move away from her, pulling himself along the ground without standing up. He was in too much pain to walk right now, having his wings torn off hurt more then he thought it would. |

Katsumi’s eyes widened in complete horror as she realized what she had done. It had been a complete and horrible accident, and she had honestly not meant to do it. She sucked in her breath letting out a gasping like sound, as she dropped the two lifeless parts of the fairy boy. She had ripped off his wings. Katsumi quickly covered her ears quickly as a shrill scream of agony filled the still air and rang through her ears. She closed her eyes tightly, as the pain of the scream and guilt of what she had done filled her head. She hardly noticed as the agonized fairy boy rolled off of her lap. She soon opened her eyes, tears beginning to form. She picked up the wings she had dropped and stared at them dazed and confused. How could she have done something so cruel and horrible to him? Katsumi’s eyes moved from the wings slowly, towards the fairy boy. She didn’t notice at first, but after she began to focus on him more, and had blinked the few tears that had formed out of her eyes, she noticed it. He was slowly, but surely moving away from her. She kept on managing to do things to make him want to run from her. She didn’t meant o do any of it, but it seemed he thought that she was doing it all on purpose. She didn’t want him to think that of her. She wasn’t some sort of monster. “I- I didn’t mean to! It was an accident! I thought they were so pretty and I just wanted to feel them...I didn’t mean to..” Katsumi trailed off as she looked at the wings in her hands once again. He didn’t seem to show signs of stopping, so she put the wings into the jar, and on her hands and knees began to move towards the fairy boy. “Let me help you! I can bandage your back! They’ll grow back right? Its not permanent right!? I can fix this, I swear!” Katsumi said hurriedly and in a high pitched voice as she made her way towards him. It didn’t take long until she could reach him, and when she did, she reached out to grab tightly in her two hands, repeatedly saying sorry, and mumbling softly promises of helping him. |

Midori tried to not listen to her, but he heard every word she said very clearly. After she kept moving closer to him he decided he should stop trying to get away. Tears were streaking down his cheeks from the thought of not being able to fly for a month or so. He sat there crying as she went to pick him up, he had stopped moving and let her grab him easily. She kept apologizing as she gripped him tightly, he wanted to just fly away. He held still as he continued to quietly cry before speaking up to answer her. "No, they won't grow back, I guess." he said lying to her through her hands, if she was going to keep him even in this situation he wouldn't give her the truth. He wanted to wipe the tears off of his face but he was pinned down in her hand. He squirmed a bit trying to get out from his prison, or maybe just an opening. He couldn't fly away now and wasn't going to try and get away unless he completely had to. It would be too much effort and futile right now, unless he did it while she was completely asleep. He wouldn't want to go running around on the ground though, so he is stuck with her until he can find a better way to get away from her, or until she lets him go. Estimated time for release: how long did Elves live again? "You can calm down about it, I guess." he said in a depressed sounding tone but like he was forgiving her, he was thinking about that still and wondering why he shouldn't? She only wanted to keep him like a pet, then she ripped his wings off, what else could so do to him? "But a bandage would be appericated a lot, I guess." he said still sounding depressed and hoping she can hear him over her apologize and through her hand. |

Katsumi listened lifelessly now as she heard the almost unaudible sound of the fairy boy. He said nothing, but instead sobbed and cried quietly to himself, hardly bothering to even escape from her grip like he usually did. Was he in that much pain from the loss of his wings? Was it painful both physically and mentally for him? His wings had definitely been important to him and now they were gone. "No, they won't grow back, I guess." Katsumi’s eyes grew gigantic and she choked on the air as she sucked it in. She completely stopped breathing, her body motionless, as she sat there on her knees. Anyone who saw her may have even thought she was a statue. She had done something horribly wrong, and she didn’t know what to do. It wasn’t fair to him that because of her mistake he would never again be able to fly around and be free. He would always be in danger when he was alone, walking on the ground where no one would see his tiny body, and then crush him! It was all her fault! "You can calm down about it, I guess.” Katsumi looked down at him. Calm down? She had just ripped his wings from his back, and he was crying before, and still he looked to be in pain. There was no way she could just calm down. That was like he had gone and ripped her arms off. For her, her music was everything, and she needed her hands to play her flute. Surely it was the same for him who was used to being able to fly wherever he pleased. So he just expected her to calm down? "But a bandage would be appreciated a lot, I guess." Katsumi quickly placed him down, trusting he wouldn’t try to run at this point. She swung her bag in front of her, and rummaged through it in search of a roll of bandages she carried with her for emergencies. She unravelled some of it, and putting some of the ointments she had with her on it. Before he could mutter a complaint, Katsumi expertly managed to put the bandage around him. She had to rip the bandage small enough to use on him too though, but it was no problem. “I don’t know how to make it up to you...” Katsumi sobbed to herself as she looked at the wingless fairy. He just looked like an extremely tiny person now, not a fairy. It made her depressed to know it was all her fault. Katsumi looked down, and stared blankly at her legs and arms, as she wondered what she could ever do to make it all up to him. Was there even anything she could possibly do? What could possibly make up for ripping a part of him off him? As she sat there for a few moments thinking, her eyes slightly widened from realization. She had thought it earlier, and it only seemed fair. She had to admit she was scared and didn’t want to do it, but what else could she do? “To make it up to you I’ll cut off my own arm...” Katsumi said slowly, before suddenly making a swift and quick movement to grab her dagger from her right leg, where it was strapped to the outside of her thigh. She quickly positioned it to below her shoulder, the blade close to her skin. She brought it closer, and made a small slicing across her arm. Her blood began to trickle through the small cut, before she got ready to make an even deeper cut next. |
