Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The forest was ways back now it had been a few hours ever since Draco had walked through the Norwood forest until he came to the marsh. A marsh in which consisted of horrible insects unlike the ones back in the forest. The chirps of the insects grew louder as Draco stepped forward to enter the marsh. The trees were twisted with a painful grey of death and all living plants seemed to be deceased in their own unique way. The twisting of the dead trees went on for yards through out the marsh and the water got deeper with each step.

Frogs were heard from near and far and whispers echoed through out the marsh. It seemed as though whispers of the dead that had lost their way through the marsh. It was perfect for most animals that like damp and smoggy area's but not for one who was used to dry and dark areas. Draco wasn't used to such territorial places. He wasn't much of a animal lover nor a water lover. The grass patches were barley hanging on to life as it were, leaving only water to walk through and tumbled over trees to walk on. Draco's scent was thrown off by all the different inhabitants in the marsh leaving him clueless as to what was around him. He kept himself well guarded and alert of what was going on around him.

His midnight blue eyes scanned the area as he heard a loud crack in the distance as he heard a quick ruffle from something moving. His silver hair was hid beneath his black hood. His black cloak was now lightly soaked at the bottom due to the water that was now contaminated to a lush green of what seemed like seaweed. Draco quickly stepping forward scanned the area quickly once more. He knew something or someone was about, watching, and waiting to strike at which time Draco would react. Still and analyzing the marsh went over thousands of movements in his head as he lifted his hand to his blade and lightly held the handle. Looking around quickly stood as the water sank into his boots like a raging river. His boots sinking into the dirt beneath the scummy water stuck and made Draco's movements slower. Thinking of such things made him more aware of his horrible position. Soon the watcher would show himself...

“You’re rather lucky, you know? I’ve decided to let you go…But first I’ve got even better news, I’m giving you a little souvenir before I send you on your merry way. A little scarring in remembrance of the good fun we’ve had,” Vernon snickered as he hung upside down from his rat-like tail that wrapped around the tree. Before Vernon was a frightened elven warrior gagged and bound to the tree. The warrior’s soft whimpering changed to muffled howls as Vernon pressed the blade of one his daggers against the elf’s cheek. Ropes tied the warrior’s head firmly to the tree, preventing him from turning his head as he doubtlessly would have tried to do. The elf’s cheek was already slathered in scourge’s venom so that the wound not heal properly. “I think I’ll put in my name a suitable memento, no?” Vernon snickered as blood trickled when Vernon applied just enough force to conjure the red liquid.

Vernon was far from an artist yet, he kept a steady hand as he carved V slowly into the prisoner’s flesh. Vernon hadn’t even finished half the task before patience bored him, but before he could take out frustration on his work, Vernon heard news of a new more guest to play with. By the smell of it, the intruder was a vampire, most likely human as well. An immortal prisoner would be great fun, though it was a pity vampires were the only meaty undead that lacked in taste. “I’ll be back to finish the job later, be sure to pray I don’t change my mind in the mean time,” Vernon grinned as he patted the elf on the cheek. Vernon pulled himself up the top of the branch and took a moment to single out the intruder’s scent. Not too far off.

Leaping from tree to tree, Vernon quickly made his way across the marsh without getting in the mire below. He couldn’t take the most direct path, but he knew the marsh nearly as well the back of his hand. Vernon came in as stealthily as possible, masking his scent and trying not to attract too much attention as he bounded from mostly naked branches. Hoping that he had managed to stay unseen until now, Venron leapt finally to a large branch before the Vampire. “Well, well, well. What do we have here? A vampire seeking his final rest in the marsh,” Vernon grinned as his hands moved to his bullets and slingshot. Hopefully there was not any trick up the sleeve to make him more than sitting duck the vampire appeared to be.

The calm harmony of branches swaying every which way were heard from a distance. Draco knew something was coming. Draco's scent was too far off balance and even if it weren't a creature upon such a place wouldn't be a pleasant smell anyway. Draco continued to feel the sand beneath his black boots sink into his spikes. The spikes were black and perfectly sharpened for a deadly kick for any enemy to be frightened of. Draco's eyes quickly moved to the front of him as he heard another bending branch even closer this time. Draco lifting his leg broke free of the mud that dripped off his boot. His black cloak lightly swam upon the water as it sent ripples to the surface. Draco lifting his arm to his head lightly stretched for his sword handle. The marsh began to send off a foul odor, a odor in which caught Draco's attention. Draco began to think to himself as he examined the area throughly one last time before the unexpected thing would confront him.

This odor it reminds me of something a story. The old man back at the forest spoke of such an odor. A human sized rat, so disgusting it could through off any of his enemies. The odor the man described was just as the one I smell. The legend of a rat haunting the marshes. Haunting everything that enters his claimed territory. A rat by the name of V at least that is what they found on the mutilated bodies. Could such a tale be true? If so I am gonna need to make haste with such a thing. Draco what did you get yourself into now? Either way I will dispose of such a vermin, talented or not...

Draco was still as he stood silent in the water as he watched the dead trees around him. He watched closely as his eyes were sent forward with a sudden appearance of a rat perched on a large branch before him. Draco looked intently as he was shocked at such a specimen was real. He hadn't seen anything like it before, werewolves were one thing but giant rats was another. Draco observed him quickly and then with a light movement Draco's left hand was hidden beneath his cloak. Draco stood still as he waited for the rat to acknowledge his presence in some way. Draco lightly began to chant something under his breath and his right hand lightly fiddled with his swords handle. Then as the silence was broken the rat spoke, “Well, well, well. What do we have here? A vampire seeking his final rest in the marsh,” Draco smirked at such a remark as the rat made a quick movement to reach for a possible weapon.

Draco quickly spotting the movement had been lucky to break free from the soaking mud beneath his feet as his left hand which was hidden was now revealed with a masked purple amount of energy flowing to his palm. Draco grinned as he then quickly snapped his right wrist to unsheathe his blade. Lightly stepping back with his left foot gained some defensive ground. The purple energy was now fully collected as Draco pushed his left arm forward sending magic missiles towards the giant rat. One missile veered of to the left as it would soon curve into the rat's side. Another veered to the right and would soon close in on the rat's other side. Two others went streaming forward with great haste to expunge his vile being. Draco watching as they did their work jumped back on to a grassy patch of land about 25 ft wide and 12 ft in length. Draco watching the rat hoped it would throw him off guard. It seemed as though the rat was a bit over confident in his territorial skills.

Draco's cold pale complexion showed nothing of fear nor disgust towards the rat just simply another thing to kill. Although Draco was at a great disadvantage he had nothing but simple thoughts of tactical movements to get out of the marsh alive with such an opponent on his back. Draco catching his breath as his cold midnight blue eyes watched his magic missiles head for the rat, spoke,

"A final rest in this wretched place, wheres the pride in that. I am sure it's suitable for such a simple creature as you to die in."

Draco's voice slide off like a ice cube slithering down a nice warm throat. His cold chilling voice echoed through the dead trees as it settled in the rat's ears. Draco waited to view frustration upon such a creatures face due to his comment. Watching and waiting for the missiles to kill his little rat friend, Draco held his blade lightly and stood calm prepared for a thrilling fight.

It was a pity that the vampire had bit of dry land to jump to. It would have been much more fun if he was stuck in the muck with limited mobility, but it wasn’t like the vampire could easily make an escape. The foolish vampire let loose two arcane projectiles. Simple cantrips from the size of them, though Vernon wasn’t the best at magic that had nothing to do with poison and the wilderness. He couldn’t shot both of them and dodging the magic bullets might be a bother if they had any sort of guidance. The simplest counter was with the casting of a spell. Instead of gripping his slingshot, Vernon’s fingers danced in the air with arcane fashion. It seemed he would have just enough time to get one spell through before the missiles arrived, but that was all he needed.

Vernon laughed at the Vampire’s foolish reply as he flicked his hand out to the side swiftly. With Vernon’s motion, a screaming swarm of bats erupted from behind him and surged past him in the direction of the Vampire, drowning out Vernon’s laughter. The magic missiles were lost amongst the screaming swarm and the evidence of their work was a few bats falling into the murky water below. The swarm’s head turned before reaching the vampire and continued to make a circle around the creature. The swarm rested on the branches of the surrounding trees and fell silent as they stared hungrily at the vampire.

“Your ill-mannered words and feeble attacks only show your crave for death, quite a pity if you were intending anything else,” Vernon snickered. As Vernon spoke his cloak rose and contorted into wide bat-like wings. “You should know by now that you stand against Vernon, Master of this lovely marsh. A mere vampire like yourself doesn’t stand a chance,” Vernon grinned as he flew towards the fanged fiend. He landed softly on the patch of dry land, a good distance away from the vampire and outside the ring of bats that watched Draco’s every move closely. “I doubt you are a match for my pet, but you should at least prove entertaining,” Vernon snickered as he pointed in Draco’s direction and unleashed arcane energy he had been gathering as he flew. A strange green gas seemed to swiftly form and grow before vampire. It took only seconds before the curious gas developed into a hideous large bear. The bear had brown fur, but not all over. There were several missing patches of fur what fur there was often had mucky bits of the marsh clinging on to it. The bear let out a ferocious roar, expelling foamy spit as he did so.

Draco felt the nice dry land lightly sink inward as he watched the bats swarm to each limb of the tress above. His cold blue eyes rested on his area as a few vine hung to his side. They weren't as old as the others but rather seemed firm and strong, strong enough for him to use. Draco looking forward as the rat they called V waited to see what would happen next. Draco patiently waiting kept his eyes on Vernon. A light green fog filled his eyesight as bear appeared not too far from him as he lingered on another end of his dry land area. Draco looked behind him as he found a light slope a few feet behind him. He then rooted out a plan. He wasn't sure it would work but things might start turning in his headway. Draco looking to the Branches above sent two missiles as they went flying past the bats. Slicing through the branches above they came tumbling down quickly after the perched Bats. Draco sent another missile upward as the bats began to scatter in circles. Draco watched he eliminated quite a few. The bats remaining however glance towards him and flew to the other tree closer to him. Draco was in a light bind now.

Draco looking towards Vernon only saw Vernon. Draco looking about spotted a vine that was stronger then the others. It was in fact actually green. Draco stood motionless as his blade was held nicely at his chest horizontally. Defense was definitely going to be a asset against the beastly, bear. Draco quickly looking around the bears shape looked to Vernon and spoke,

"Very nice, getting nature to do your work for you, wuss." Draco grinned as the bear let out a loud roar. "At least it will be a challenge unlike your weak self." Draco lightly felt his cloak sway in the light whispers of the wind as he stared down the bear challenging him to charge..
