Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Lehona was laid out lazily on her back, her long hair fanning out in all directions across the grass which sprouted green here and there through the thick auburn mass. Here under the shade of the willows , it was cool. The last hours of summer fading away before fall. It was hard to imagine, while she watched the canopy above glitter as sun flitted between the many leaves, that she had wasted nearly an entire season in sadness and misery. As she thought a bit longer of her loss and grief, Lehona adjusted herself slightly with one hand now cradling the back of her head so that she could view a pair of brown birds. Swinging and singing happily upon two of the willows long, hanging branches, they seemed worriless, as she hoped she could be. If they had not been so large, it would have been easy to mistake them for part of the tree itself, amidst the green and brown of leaves and branch. Closing her eyes, but still able to see the sun and shade, Lehona listened to their songs to one another, so sweet and so carefree. Beyond their whistles and chirps, she could just barely make out the sound of the lake which lay not far from where she was. The water, she knew, was occasionally disturbed by the falling of a willow leaf, making it's surface ripple and dance as it reflected the last rays of a summer sun. Oh how wonderful it would be to slip away on their songs...

Sealamin had several hours before he was required to leave, and he was determined to spent it in an enviroment he rarely spends time in. His village, situated in the mountains, is cool and relaxing, with the tall and snow capped mountains peaking in the distance, always a breeze around to keep Sealamin cool no matter how hard he is working, training or fighting. Yet here, here it was warmer, thicker with varying trees and vegetation covering the forests. It was relaxing to enjoy the difference in climate and scenery than the mountains, even though one path was never the same back there.

He had been reccomended the lake for its beauty and privateness from the surrounding areas, and so far it had been both. The lake was glinting from the sunlight shining down, blinding to look at from certain angles, yet enticing all the same. It would be so nice to go for a swim, refreshing and relaxing for his muscles, yet he knee he shouldnt. There was no change of clothes or anything to dry in, and he would hate to wear the same clothes he had worn before swimming.

Walking further round the lake, he was lucky enough to see a smaller and slimmer looking young elf lying peacefully on the ground. She had not yet heard his footsteps, and he would hate to scare her by walking too close to her, so he merely called out a greeting, a smile on his face as he sat down on one of the few broken willow trees.

"Young lady, it is a pleasure to meet another elf out here, especially one so young and vibrant as yourself." Removing his spare longsword and his backpack on his back, and arranging Claryus sheathed at his side in a more comfortable position. It had been a long time since he had spoken to someone who had nothing to do with weapons or armour, fighting or protection, or anything related to those.

(( OOC: Sorry if this is too much. I started rambling. ^_^))

Before Lehona could sit upright, Hope had already disentangled herself from the weave of willow branches in which she was playing and was flying at arm's length around Sealamin in a protective manner. The chipicana seemed to approve of the new arrival, because at once her small angel-like wings took her racing back pass in a bright white blur to where the young half-elf sat with an amused sort of grin playing upon her lips. She glanced back after Hope, but she had already disappeared back through the curtain of branches which swayed in her wake. Not being able to contain the bit of laughter that escaped her, Lehona turned back to the man or what she had mistaken for a simple man at first with an awe in her eyes that made them wide as if surprised.

Pressing her lips together, she acknowledged that her cheeks were burning as she made to stand and realized that she must be blushing with embarrassment for staring the way she sometimes did. Tilting her head in a curious way, Lehona jealously admired his beautiful chocolate colored wings which peeked around his athletic build. She noted that his windswept hair seemed to match the color and for a moment allowed herself to dream of what color her own wings might be if she had been so blessed to have a pair of her own. But the daydream ended as she pressed on through the leafy barrier that separated them. First just her hand which swept away the flexible branches, then her forearm as it brushed through the foliage and then her full arm until the whole of her crossed the threshold and she left the willow to dance with itself.

"You realize that sneaking up on someone in the deserted Norwood Forest could get you into real trouble these days.." She asked more than stated, her voice calm and airy and she could not deny the easy smile that came with his compliment. She noticed that he carried weapons and a pack and wondered momentarily if he was headed toward battle. The aching pain of loss stabbed at her chest and winced across her face though she was ignorant to the latter before she could push the emotion from her mind. Instead of dwelling on her past, she decided immediately to continued on with the present. So she jested more with the charming man she knew to be an avariel.

"You never know what strange creatures might be lurking out here, just waiting to smother you in their holy light."

Sealamin stumbled backwards a step as the small flying animal thing wrapped itself around him. His hand instantly reached down to his sword, but he pulled it backwards when the small bird thing raced of into the branches of one of the willow trees, Sealamin's keen eyes picking the little thing out as it swerved in and out of the trees, a small grin playing on his features.

His eyes darted back to the young elf who was making her way steadily up to her feet, and then towards the willow branches seperating them. Her eyes were almond, quite beautiful eyes. Most people believed in blue eyes being a sign of beauty, yet these green eyes were lovely to look at, but only for a moment. Long auburn hair flowing down her back to about midway. Her gracefull walking worked well with her slim figure, her height only a few inches smaller than himself.

Stepping up quickly, Sealamin pulled a few of the branches out of the way, he could hardly let a young lady fight through by herself, even if they offered no real problem. Moving back to the fallen log, Sealamin sat himself down comfortably as she spoke, her voice like a melody floating in the wind, calming and relaxing.

"Oh yes, the bandit camps are relatively close by. But I doubt they use holy magic," Sealamin commented with a grin. He was serious really, there was a bandit camp in the Norwood Forest, even if it wasnt that close to the lake. "Anyway," his eyes flicking back towards the young elf from the treeline to the left, "what is a young lady doing out here, all by herself?"

With a mock surprise, Lehona gasped as her hand shot up toward her mouth. Long, delicate fingers touched her lips as her eyes darted across the landscape as if searching for threat. Then the masque was gone just as quickly as she had brought it and she laughed softly, managing a leisurely path down to the water's edge. Her chin pointed down, she shook her head while hear eyes flitted up toward the sky and then dropped back down to her company.

"I would not say that I was alone. Hope is here, as are you." She said calmly while looking out over the lake with her arms folded oddly behind her back though with an odd ease. She thought of the bandit camp and wondered if he were telling her the truth or if he merely teased her in the same way that she were teasing him. But worry had already been pushed clear of her mind and she would not allow it to return so quickly. Especially as she was in safe for the time being.

"Besides, what would bandits want with someone like me?" Her head fell to a slight angle in question as she turned back to him. It was a naïve question and perhaps she knew it because her smile faltered as she to combed her hair back out of the way of her face. Lehona was sure that the bandits would be after many things from a 'young lady' like herself and so she decided to answer honestly instead of continuing to play coyly with the conversation.

"To be honest, I'm not exactly sure." Pausing, she realized that that was the truth, however unbelievable it might seem. Why the half-elf had headed west was a mystery to even herself. "As I made my way through the wood, I found myself here. And since I had no real destination, I thought I would enjoy the last moments of summer before they left until returning again." Shrugging her shoulders, Lehona pressed her lips together in a smile now curious what he was doing here.

"And what have you come out here for? I am sure that your plans did not entail meeting a half-elf and charming her with stories of bandits."

Sealamin chose not to answer what bandits would want. He tried not to think about what they would try to do, most bandits having no respect for women, or life in general. But no, it would do no good to mention what the bandits would want to do, Sealamin thought to himself, a slight frown forming his face from a smile.

Resurfacing from his thoughts on the Bandits, Sealamin smiled at her inquisitiveness. "I'm merely in Norward on a trade business for my village again. We come down from the Gwilikith mountains every now and then to Norwood, trade for what we need or want, and then transport it back there for the people to enjoy." Sealamin patted his fingers gently on his leg as he thought of the long journey back. "But right now we have several days to wait before we head of due to a miss communication, and so I am exploring the countryside while I wake. It is immensely different from the mountains, but different in a good way."

His thoughts returned to his mountain abode. It was so much cooler back there, but the heat here was nice and comforting. Coming out of his reverie again, Sealamin looked straight at the elf, "I dont believe I know your name yet I'm afraid. I am Sealamin, Sealamin Joysword, though so of my friends just call me Seala." Sealamin inclined his head a bit as a small bow.

"Lehona Palewind and it is a pleasure to meet you, Sealamin Joysword." Giving Sealamin a slight curtsey and a respectful bow of her head, Lehona rose again only to glance around them once again admiring the scene. She had noted his frown, curious where it had been disappointment or something else that made the spark about him leave for so briefly. Surely if it had been disappointment his handsome smile would not have returned to her and perhaps he would have not bothered to introduce himself. Then again, there were some throughout this world that held manners above all else, but on what she had already seen of him, she would not place him in that category.

"You could not have picked a better place to wander to in my opinion, even if only because of the miscommunications. While I have never been to the Gwilikith Mountains and I am sure they are gorgeous, it is hard imagine that they are much more beautiful than this." One day perhaps she would have to see for herself whether that statement was true. So far, in all of the places that she traveled, this place was first on her list. Hugging her arms around her thin waist she glided across his path to an aging willow at the bank of the lake. Leaning nonchalantly against the tree's trunk in her long, light blue summer dress, Lehona subconsciously began to plan for her future drifting.

"Do you get to visit many places often then or does your village only do trade with the elf of Norwood?" Travel, that is perhaps what she saw in him as she leaned to her other side and studied him cleverly. And a fighter she guessed intuitively, drawing together her own portrayal of Sealamin Joysword. Dutiful for sure, that is why he was here was it not? And loyal to his village, to perhaps a family that he might have had to leave to take such a long journey. The sun had begun it's descent and in a few hours it would plunge over the horizon out of sight to allow the night and moon to rise. She could still have and share a few hours..

"Oh no. We trade with anyone who has what we need or want for the benefit of the village. We have however, an agreement for shipping metals and gems from the dwarves down to the elves of Norwood, in exchange for wood to re-inforce, and build more buildings and weapons. As obviously, they have man trees that can be hewed down, and know the quotas of what to cut to allow more trees to regrow."

One of Sealamin's slightly irritating traits came into place right now, and he constatly started thrumming his fingers on his thigh while he spoke, not making a loud noise, but a constant low thudding of his fingers tapping his upper leg, over and over again. He never noticed it really, but it did annoy some people.

"How come you are around here too Lehona? We have been trading with Norwood for a long time now, and I dont think I have actually seen you in the village at all." Sealamin thought back over the many times he had come, but no one of Lehona's figure and grace and looks could be placed from when he was walking around the village.

Noting that he was now drumming his leg with his fingers, she pondered whether a man like this could be nervous. There was little else should could associate with it but perhaps it was only an odd habit. Less flattering, but it was possible . Still, she imagined it might have been the first though none of the rest of Sealamin was even remotely nervous. From his now curious eyes to the way he sat with an easy comfort upon the upturned tree trunk. Either Lehona was being lied to by her senses or her instincts were less than ordinary at the moment.

"That is because I am not from Norwood, but Kellen. Just a little ways off of Kellen actually. You could say that my wandering started when I realized I needed a bit of peace and fresh air." Thought she did not want to admit it, something had been weighing strong in her mind before she left her home. But then something in the way he watched her made her smile broaden and she laughed uncertainly. But then she narrowed quickly, with a grin still playing at her lips and she spoke again, this time cautiously.

"Ah.." Her mouth went dry, she couldn't decide why she was so nervous. For so long, nothing needed to be said. There were those that knew and those that didn't ask questions and right now, she was unsure which she favored more. Still, there had been others who were not as kind she remembered which she knew to be the root of her reluctance. Her long fingers had made their way back up to her mouth again in hesitation, she appeared to be contemplating the rest of her answer and as she considered him, they fell slowly.

Trust. It was something her father would have told her to do. No matter the outcome, no matter how feared, trust in people to make the right decisions. Anxiously, Lehona combed through her hair again, giving a heavy sigh as if to relax herself then continued with a short chuckle. Her eyes wide and watchful. "I am human as well as elf. My whole life I have lived alongside humans and never before have I met someone like us. When I was young, my father taught me what he knew and remembered of my lineage but with no reason to practice tradition.."

Shrugging she shook her head solemnly, she could not smile now. She lowered her eyes as if humiliated. " While I may share some of your features.." She shared the most obvious, running her fingertips over an elongated and pointed ear, brushing her long dark hair behind it. "we are different. There aren't many that would accept me the way that I am. Two halves of two.. That is why you have not seen me in Norwood before.." Lehona stopped there, feeling out of character. It was unlike her to be this insecure. Eyes still averted, she toyed with the beaded cord at her waist.

Kellen? He had passed through there numerous times too, however, if she lived on the outskirts, it was unlikely he have noticed or seen her before, so Sealamin could see the logic in that he would never have seen her before.

Lehona seemed nervous of something however, the way she raised her hands to her lips, hesitant of whether she should continue talking about whatever it was she wanted to. She was clearly thinking it all through, weighing the possibilities and outcomes out, and Sealamin chose to let her take her time. There was no use trying to get anything out of her she wasnt willing to speak of by herself.

Continuing with the drumming of his fingers, which slowed a bit while Lehona was speaking about her past, her life before she came to live amongst other elves, or came to meet them in their villages. She had evidently led a slightly sheltered life with her father.

Noticing her blushing for the first time, Sealamin felt slightly out of place. He had never really been in a situation like this. He had never dealt into peoples feelings and thoughts and their past in most cases. He was a fighter, a protecter, and so his job had taken him over in most times.

"Lehona," Sealamin began, his mouth slightly dry as he thought of what to say. He was terribly out of place here. "You are not so different from us, or other elves, than you make out." Sealamin looked across the treeline to the left as he thought about what else he would say. "If you so wished, you could join us on our convey back to my village in the Gwilikith mountains, and I could show that we dont look down on elfs for their parents," Sealamin finished slightly awkwardly, totally out of depth in this conversation.

"Not so different, then where are my wings?" She had cried out in protest before she could stop herself. "I will never be able to fly, not like you or any of the avariel from your village. My father told me of how he was pitied after his accident and all because he lost his wings trying to save his village." She had turned her back on him to look out over the lake, mostly because she regretted everything she had just said. It was aggravating the way he just expected everyone else to accept her the way she was. Hadn't her life taught her that there were always going to be those that were prejudice against her half-race? But he had not turned on her and that was something, Lehona thought, something important.

His offer was one that she had dreamed about for all her life. To live with the avariels, people like her. But hadn't her father warned her that a life with them would always be a reminder of what she did not have? That it was a life worse than prejudice, a life full of longing for something that was impossible to sate. Lehona was torn and let out a long, tense sigh. So mixed up in her own thoughts, it had been impossible for her to see just how awkward this had made him feel. The elf didn't even realize that she had wrapped her slender arms around her in a tight and somehow comforting hug.

Her mind raced but her face was sad as her eyes hazed and she lost herself in thought. Her father, her past, her home, her lineage and fear. The fear of never truly being accepted crushed over her like a wave, smothering her air and weakening her strength to push forward. Without words, she snapped back to the present, her large green eyes becoming sharp again. Shaking her head, she started off to where Sealamin had found her beneath the willow to retrieve her pack from the grass near the trunk of the tree. It was failure to her, the way she could not trust a handsome man who was offering her a way to everything she had ever hoped for.

"I'm sorry, but if I am going to be back by dark I should start now. Thank you for your kindness, but my past has shown me that dreams never come true." The pack hung heavily from her shoulder as she crossed the distance to where he sat on his log. With sad features all about her, she reached out to graze the feathertips of his dark wings with a gentle hand. She no longer smiled or radiated happiness as she looked up into his eyes. A real hero he was she thought, the way he wanted to help reminded her so much of her father. But she said nothing more as she turned to walk back the way she had come in.
