Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Ashley dived into the water, her little body bearly made a splash. She was a tall girl indeed, 5'8. But a mere 100 pounds. The water caressed her skin as she jumped in. The leaves she used to bathe in were now plastered to her skin, when she came up for air her long brown hair floated to the top swirling around her. The cool water was a welcoming get away from the heat of the brilliant sun.

Ashley played in the water until she decided it was time to get out, she got otu of the water, her skin shining from being wet. Droplets of water escaped the tips of her fingers and hair. Her emerald green eyes took in her surroundings, the green leaves, the blue sky.

Then a dusturbance came. A sound in the bushes that was nor animal or hunter. Ashley's limbs went stiff. There was something dark in the forest that she lived in. The wind whispered for her to run, the trees limbs pointed her deep into the forest, but she was frozen. It wasnt until she coud hear clear footsteps only feet away that she began ot run. Her long legs carrying her through the forest, her breath hard. The footsteps were close by, closing in on her. Above her she saw a tree branch and jumped for it.

Her hands made contact. She let out a breath but didnt dare look down as she lifted her legs up to the branch so she could crouch on it.

There was a scent in the air, a scent of a woman that reigned havoc upon his senses. At first there was the thought that it was Cordelia, but there was no blood mingled in with it. Instead, there was only a sweet scent to it, which couldn’t be compared to that of Alaina either and that was what worried him. There was another person out in these woods, another person who could potentially hurt and harm her. That just wouldn’t do, not in the least. Picking up his pace, his eyes and ears remained ever alert to any sight or sound that might trigger them. Within mere a moment his ears picked up a sound, almost like that of movement. Deciding to check it out his pace quickened further into a slight jog, before breaking out into a light sprint where his eyes would finally pick up a movement of a woman entering the tree.

Only catching the brief appearance of her feet, he was still able to sort out that it was a woman’s by their size and no less their shape. Slowing to a slight trot and then falling into a stagnant stance just in front of the lake, a wry grin picked up across his features. Did she really think she was smart to hide in a tree…? Two could play in this game of hide-and-go-seek and she certainly wasn’t going to win. Knowing that she would be watching him, a fake look of frustration took upon his visage as his eyes scanned out over the lake, “Now…Where’d that woman go…? Quite odd…Quite odd indeed, I swore I heard someone over here.” Again his eyes danced out across his surroundings in mock search for the woman, before landing upon the tree she climbed, “Ah, perhaps…She’s over behind this tree?”

Methodical in his pace, Manic proceeded to make his way over to the tree, eyes never lifting up to where the woman was, but remained squarely focused upon the trunk. Lifting his right hand, he would gently place itself against the course back, only to then run his digits across it as he moved around it and potentially out of her view. Once he reached that point a few spells would kick up in his head, activating at sheer thought thanks to his silent spell ability. The first was the gaseous form to make himself near invisible to the naked eye and since he had entered the shadow of the tree his shadow dancer abilities would pick up. Making him completely invisible to the sheer eye, so from that point Manic would plot his next action and that was to surprise the woman.

Oh such entertainment it would be to scare the living wits out of this woman. Sure it was a bit crude, but she asked for it by running and then trying to hide from him. Tilting his head back, his eyes would transfix themselves upon a thick looking branch in the tree just at the opposite side to where she would hopefully remain. In a sheer blink of the eye his body would be carried up onto the branch, easily supported there. Dropping the gaseous form spell, his body would slip out of its ethereal appearance and in a few slow steps Manic would bring himself around to where the woman should remain to be perched at. At the current odds there wasn’t anything to worry about if she was or wasn’t. Because if she had moved it would have been foolish due to the sounds of the trees and sheer movement that would signal to him of her fleeing nature. Unable to see her quite yet a mere mocking voice chimed out loud enough for the woman to easily here, “Come out and play girl…I have some candy if you behave yourself.” When the words left his lips an insane laughter kicked up through the following silence. Oh this would be greatly entertaining…

Ashley chanced it and looked down. There he stood, hair like the ravens feather, but she could not see his eyes. He was strong, much stronger than she. If he were to pin her down to the ground, or hold her by the wrist she was done fore. So the trick would be getting away from this kinda cute mad man. Her breathing was becoming faster, she tried desperatly to slow it down.

For a momen she took her eyes off him and looked around, but when she looked back down he was gone. Her heart skipped a beat. Oh. Crap. She thought to herself while looking around wildly. There was no sound, nothing. And that is when one should be worried. Ashley took a slow step forward, the branch creeked just a little. The leaves that served as clothes crinked. She winced. Too much noise.

Then her fear was only just behind her, the voice almost like velvet, but the laugh came after like a crackle of lightning. A scream left her lips as her body jerked from being frightened half to death, the jerk from her scared muscles in turn caused her to fall sideways off her branch. She held on tothe branch so hse wouldnt fall funny but quickly let go, landing on the ground with a small thud. The fall hurt her feet and she winced from the pain but immediatly broke into a run, but the seconds before she ran she replyed to his statement. "I dont take candy from strangers!" She shouted back angrily.

Her long legs carried her through the tree's, she turned, circled and tried to mess up her prusuiter anyway she knew how, keeping her emerald eyes ahead, her long deep brown hair flowing after.

The scream came like music to his ears just as he had expected; such a lovely tone it held and the fear that carried with it. Oh how glorious it was to play the big bad boogieman in everyone’s little dream world of how life should be or how it was supposedly meant to be. None of that applied to him; there was no little world to enjoy himself, no pre-designed fabrication of how it should be, because all he needed and wanted was fear, destruction, and death. Those were his only goals in life, it didn’t matter how they came to be accomplished or where they were accomplished from, only that they were indeed completed. Albeit it wasn’t all about completing his goals, especially when a little fun could be factored into the mix, much like what he was doing with this woman. She was the mouse and he was the lion it would seem.

That fact only grew truer the moment she hit the ground and began running. Did she really think she would escape him that easily…? Issuing a slight shrug at the thought of her actions, Manic would turn to the direction in which she departed, trying to keep even pace with her as he used what he could of the trees and using his blink spell when necessary to making the longer gaps. A couple spells picked up in his head again, the first being the gaseous form again and the other being Draconic Might. All three of those spells kept him out of sight and aided him in keeping easy pace with her from the tree tops as he pursued her. On top of that the Shadow Dancer abilities came into play with keeping his position in the trees secret. The chase; however, grew quite tiresome and boring with the first couple of moments, causing another idea to formulate deep within the caverns of his mind. Once it bubbled to the surface a wide spanning malicious grin took upon his features.

At the blink of the eye Manic transferred forth from the trees and down upon the ground with little effort and continued along his chase, but instead of following her directly like he had done only moments prior; he started to use his blink spell and new strength to get himself a short distance ahead of her where he would slide to a stop and spin around to face her. Using the shadows casted by the trees to keep his position to hidden to her, both of his hands would rush upwards in motion, causing a rather large thick black shadow to rise up out of the ground. Its appearance was grotesque in nature, as large black spikes jutted out from its back. Large chains draped and bound across the black figure, clanging loudly as it began to move, launching its large black clawed hand towards the woman should she stray too close. It of course wouldn’t cause any damage but it was meant to frighten the woman solely. The moment she would veer off to one of his flanks, Manic would prep another spell in his head as both of his hands moved in towards his chest in C shaped fashion.

In between his hands a small black ball would begin to formulate in the center of them and a sudden black tendril would stretch out from one of the purple crystals that was bound into the tendrils of his hair. Just at that moment it would disappear and a dark shadowy figure would lurch out from between his hands, only to land in non-ethereal appearance upon the ground in front of him where it would take its stand. Parting both of his hands off to his flanks, the same thing would begin to take place, this time processing two at once. Two more crystals would escape the binding tendrils of raven black hair, before two more figures would join the one in front of him. With the snap of his fingers and a nod, the three figures would break off from him to pursue in the woman’s wake, Manic aiming to follow shortly after.

Ashley's breath was becoming more shallow, she couldnt run much longer. It felt like she had been running for ages. And she was terrified. However there was a small part of her that enjoyed the thrill of finally having an adventure, something exciting and new. But the other ninety nine percent was scared to death, soon she couldnt hear foot falls again, this worried her.

Images of her pursuer flicked infront of her as she ran, casuing her to jump and scream from firght, she would turn, veer, and swerve, but still his smiling face stood before her, until finally it stopped.
Ashley was about to slow down when a large cloud of black smoke rose above her, towering, she stood frozen with fear, her heart beating irregularly, her breathing fast and shallow. Soon it was made into a monster, a monster as big as the tree's themsleves, a hand began to race to her, and with a long scream she turned and ran for it.

Again her path was stopped, by creatures made of darkness and black. They stood before her, slowly closing in, now her shallow breathing and hyperventilating began to make her dizzy, spots of black appeared in her vision as she tried despratly to calm down, she would not could not pass out now. Her steps became slow and wobbly. Slowly her breathing returned to normal, but the fear still gripped her, sending chills down her spine. As she was recovering she felt like a sitting duck. Still she walked as quickly as she was able away. "Dont you dare touch me!" She said to thin air.

When the woman took upon her walking nature, the figures that followed in her wake would follow the same action at the whim of their Master. The last thing they wanted to do was to cross paths with him and disobey his order for they witnessed what had happened to Gharik for his disobedience to Manic’s cause. It was quite the gruesome sight indeed, but at least it wasn’t them that suffered such a fate. So instead they played along with every beck and call of Manic without a second’s thought to it. Much like that of mindless puppets they continued to stalk their prey at the predetermined pace, forever remaining a decent distance behind the woman. And behind them would be the man who ushered this entire pursuit, and the same man that would bring it all too screeching halt. Blinking his eyes again his image would dissipate in a flash only to flicker to non-ethereal appearance a short distance in front of her.

Standing for a moment, Manic would reach a hand into his trade mark jacket that adorned his body loosely. Its unzipped nature allowed easy access to its interior where his hand would dip into one of the pockets to pull out what would appear to be a card game styled card. A twisted grin took upon his countenance as his metallic hues bore themselves into her own respectably colored ones, “The fun stops here m’dear…You’ve run out of places to run.” Without waiting for a response, Manic’s hand would turn slowly to expose the face of the card to the woman. Upon it would rest a single picture of a blade, which to the sheer glance of the woman would appear nothing that a childish play toy, but to Manic it was much more. Because in a sheer instant the card would blow apart into a brilliance of fluttering chunks of metal, before rushing back together to formulate a sword into the grip of his hand. Brandishing the blade off to his side, a few swings would signal that it was in fact very real due to whistling sound that it made as it cut through the air from side to side as he slashed. Bringing the blade back to his side, another twisted grin would pick up across his features.

“Don’t dare touch you, hmmm? Interesting concept, but I’m afraid I’ll have to pass on the request, because you see…I don’t want to touch you, I want to disassemble you. Take you apart piece by piece, rearrange your organs and devour your flesh. I’m not a very nice person and you were smart to have run, but the clock has come to a stop for you and this is where your existence ends.” Bringing the blade up in front of his face, his tongue would flicker out to slide its tip across the cold steel of the blade, until it reached the top where it would flick across it, before retracting back into his mouth, “So, how do you want it…Do you want it slow and methodical? Short and sweet…? Hmmm…?” There was a slightly crazy glint to the man’s eyes as he lowered the blade off to his side again, but the other hand would then make its way up to his visage where it would brush away the rebellious strand of pure white hair that slung across his left eye defiantly, “Come come now, make your decision.”

Finally Ashley's rather impulsive and smart alec side came into play. At fist when she saw the card turn into a sword her face went pure white. The blade came dangeroulsy close to her skin as she squirmed away from the sharp blade that shone in the light.

The mans dialoug was a clear, clean, threat on her life, and he intended to eat her insides. Well that would not happen. So with a determined look on her face she did somthing that she regretted ten seconds after doing so. "You are an annoying murderous ding dong. And I'm too tierd to run anymore! I'm too tierd to fight you about this." She said putting a hand on her side. "So my choice is neither."

With that last sentance she jumped and flung herself in the air to tackle him to the ground. For a whole second or two she was air born, with one hand hse held the hilt of the sword and forced his arm to hte side so when they both fell like jack and jill they would not get stabbed. After only a moment or two Ashley could feel both their bodys hit the ground with a thud. Luckly for her the man broke her fall so she didnt land right on the ground.

There they lay, Ashley sat on top of him using her one hand to force the sword away from her, and the other in an attempt to keep his other arm down. However she knew this wasnt going to last long, he was stronger after all. "So here is the deal." Ashley still struggled but intended to get her next few words out before he attempted to kil her again. "You are not going to kill me, and I am not going to be severely damaged. Maybe we can come to some sort of agreement." She said then finally lost her strenght.

The resistance was a given due to everyone’s stubborn nature, it didn’t even need to be said that she wasn’t going to take either of the choice. He simply knew what the response was going to be, but what came next caught him a bit off guard. In one moment the two of them were standing and the next he was back first upon the ground with her on top. The collision with the ground fazed him very little since his main focus was upon the woman while she spoke. The words would fall on deaf ears as a look of irritation took upon his features and all of his strength welled up to the surface. With the spell Draconic Might still in effect it was more than enough to force the woman’s arm back single handedly, sword still gripped tightly in his hand. As he pushed her arm back, her body would have to follow suit and as it did he gradually began to sit upwards, before aiming to push her further back if she continued to hold her grip.

From there he would proceed to get back to his feet, using his free arm to help remove her from his body whether it involved pushing her off or pulling her off. Once back to his feet, Manic would bring the tip of the blade out to the woman’s face, keeping it held stationary in its position, “That was the most foolish thing you could have done and you’ll be lucky if I don’t remove that pretty little head of yours where you sit.” The muscles of his jaw began to work themselves in the silence that followed his irritated words, signaling that he was grinding his teeth from the anger of her actions, “No one commands me, no God, no mortal, and certainly not you. If you think I will take pity upon your soul and spare your life, you’ll have to offer me something of grave use, because that little stunt of yours just put you high on my list to kill. I was going to simply let you walk away free and happy, but I’m beginning to re-think that now…So entertain me with your little agreement. Your time is limited.”

With that Manic would pull back his blade, before taking a couple paces back to create some realm of distance between them. Should she try something dumb like that again, there wouldn’t be a chance that she would even succeed; not if he had a choice in it and there was always choices.

Ashley was froced off his body as he pulled her arm off, she quickly tumbled to the ground below and hit the dirt herself. He stood above her with the tip of the blade square in her face. Still she held persistant, she would not be bullyed by him, and it was her turn to gain some points anyhow. So she simply sat still so the blade would not chop her head, nose or ear right off. She listened to him carefully, already trying to pick the appropriate words in her mind.

Soon he began to back away, she relaxed her muscles a little knowing the blade was not as close as before, she could try to run but it was proven useless, there were only two ways to get rid of this guy, to let him kill her, which she did not intend to do, and to make a deal. But she didnt know what he wanted. And she couldnt possibly sit around and guess. So she would, unfortuantly have ot make him figure out the deal.
Ideas of all these horrible things poped into her mind, kililng somone, being a slave, it scared her but was her only way out.

"You know what, I just did!" She said reffering to the commanding. "Well unfortuantly I do not know what you desire, so how can I know what to offer? So," Ashley took a deep breath as if she were signing away her life, even though she wuold still be breathing. "I will let you choose what you want of me. As long as I can still walk away uninjured." Ashley stood up her shoulders square, her long deep brown hair tossled and her emerald green eyes glowing with determination.

In a whisk of rushing air the soft trusses of his raven black hair kicked up in the wind, fluttering back behind him effortlessly in the breeze before finally fall still after a spell of time. What did he want…What did he want…It was a tough decision. There was so much he wanted, so much he needed, but what purpose could it be that this woman could serve. A slave wasn’t a choice, mainly because slaves were so fickle and the sheer fact that they were more often than not to rebel against their captive. That and he didn’t have the time or the patience to constantly watch this woman. It was proven that he was vastly stronger, but that wouldn’t be enough to keep her under control especially with the way she still was so vigilant to mouth off to him.

“Commands go hand in hand with obedience, Child. I am not obeying, I had already told you the intentions to kill you were all for naught. That of course changed when you pulled your stunt, but this still doesn’t mean I’m obeying a single word you say. I am simply humoring your request, because that’s all it is to me. To order me is foolish…Have you not realized that I could crush you on a second’s whim? You’re in no position to command or order me…You’re realizing that otherwise you wouldn’t have conceded to such trivial terms…” Bringing the blade up slightly, it would bring its point out in the direction of the woman, a look of stern concentration focusing upon his face before a brief grin would break across his slender lips, “Since you’re so adamant about dying…I will take grave care in choosing your fate. Perhaps a messenger…Yes…That’ll do I think. It’s quite simple, something you couldn’t even mess up…”

Lifting his free hand, Manic would proceed to bring it up to his face where he would brush aside the same strand of white hair that had managed to get in his face from the previous rush of wind, “See, I need someone who will go out and gather a couple of people to my audience when I request it. Currently though, my only interest is gathering a man named Fehade into my company. After that or even before, I need to make contact with a woman called Aether Draka. Your job would be to go out and try to track these people down and arrange a place of meeting for them and I. Either separately or perhaps together, I don’t care and it doesn’t matter. Simple enough, no…? I mean look at it, you get meet different people and keep that same little innocence you hold. So adorable it is…” A slight chuckle would emit forth from his parted lips at the thought, “Now…I don’t tolerate games, I don’t tolerate betrayal, and if you decide to cross my path I WILL kill you, there’s no doubt about that. Tread lightly, because I can be a devil when provoked. Cordelia Brooks will and should be the only person that will EVER find that out, unless you wish to join her in the fray as well…”

Sucking in a deep breath, Manic would spin the sword in his hand using each of digits to do so until it would come to a stop in a downwards point towards the ground. With that the sword would explode into a brilliance of shimmering color before re-collecting back into his hand once again in the form of a card. Carefully he would tuck the card away into the pocket of his jacket, before returning all attention to the woman, “Make your choice…Serve beneath me as a messenger or suffer the abyss that will claim your life by the time I get through with you. If you chose to follow under me, then perhaps we could venture over to Kellen to grab a drink and discuss this job of yours. I’m quite hungry…” The last couple of words grew dark and low in tone as his eyes narrowed on the woman briefly, before softening as the mock grin came to his lips again.

Ashley listened carefully. A messanger? She just had to get a few people to meet uup. Taht could be fairly easy. It may take some time but atleast she left with her life intact. And he didnt ask for anything silly like blood or screams, or etc. Becasue that she would have put afight up. And she didnt intend to go easy anyway, he tried to kill her. She would be difficult.

"That stunt got you to listen to me. And it helped saved me from getting sliced across with your sword card...thing. You could crush me but it wouldnt be easy. You would have to touch me first, and as I recall you didnt want to touch me but kill me, what do I have cooties or something?" She asked with a hand on her hip. "A messanger....ok. I'll do it." She said with a small sigh of releif.

Now she payed much attention, the names would have to stick. "Fehade and Aether Draka. Ok, I'll remember that." With a mock smile Ashley added. "Glad you think my innocence is adorable. I wont cross you. I dont want to get my head chopped off, but I will not take silly orders like go get my that thing over there." She said.

Ashley was taken aback by his offer for drinks but one must keep their enimys close, and hse was thirsty. So with a smile she nodded. "OK but your buying." She said.

(( OOC: I will start the topic in Kellen, you can post your follow up post here, but this topic is pretty much done. It's your choice. =P ))

"OK but your buying."

An inane laughter picked up in the wake of her words, head tilting back as the laughter proceeded to reign out through the silence of the trees that surrounded them. After a few moments his head would lower itself back down so his eyes would fixate themselves upon her, “You’re a funny one…Who said anything about buying? All I said is we’re going to go over to Kellen and grab a drink, I didn’t say buy a drink.” With that bit said his head would cock off to the side curiously, “You know…” All of his words would falter for a moment as his head would move and cock itself to the opposite side of where it once was, “I can almost see those tiny bugs just leaping off of you like one giant infestation of cooties.”

Just as those words left his lips, the corner of them would tug up into a half smirk, “Of course, that’s beside the point now…Because we have a matter of business to discuss. And don’t worry about being an errand girl, I’m not interested in having a slave, I’m not that type of person. Your purpose will be to deal in my diplomatic business with those I associate myself amongst. Outside of that, you’ll be free to do as you wish until I summon upon you take care of my meetings. I expect there is no issue with that…Because I feel it’s more than a fair offer in exchange for your life.” Manic would lift both of his hands upwards, palm upturned in a half shrugged manner, before dropping them back to his sides, “It’s no more a matter of discussion though, since you made the choice on your own.”

Bringing both of his hands together in repeated fashion, a few echoing claps would reign out into the silence around them, signaling to his undead followers that a command was soon to follow. “Depart!” Were the words to leave his lips and at that command both of his hands would push out in front of him until his arms would outstretch to a parallel base to that of the ground. Outstretching each of his digits in curled fashion they would await what would take place next. Since no more than he had spoken the command all three of the darkly colored figures that stood behind the woman soon began to dissipate into the air, creating a black mist that would seemingly hover over that of the woman before finally collecting in streams deep into the caresses of his hands until three gems would form there. All the while the mist collected, Manic made sure to turn his hands so his palms would present themselves upwards so the crystals would have a place to rest once they formed. Soon as they had he would proceed to tie each separate one in different areas of his dark colored hair, using several strands to do so.

Once finished, Manic would brush a hand through his hair, causing the countless crystals that laid strewn about his hair to clang and clink together as the strands came back to a rest in their original placement. A wry grin would take upon his features at the action, “Come come, we can go now. Kellen isn’t far off from here.” And with that Manic turned on the balls of his heels and began off in the direction of Kellen, expecting her to follow suit behind him and if she failed to do so, it wouldn’t be much of a task to find her again.

The swirls of black mist glided past her body toward him, as they glidded past they touched her skin and she cringed, darkness didnt agree with her and she cetianly did not agree with darkness. At his comment of bug cooties she rolled her eyes. Sheesh. "Ok, I'll deal with your buisness, but I will not do any such thing for the people Iam to get, the Fenfar person, and The Drake girl, I will not stand for them ordering me around."

Ashley simply motiond for him to keep going. "Go for it, I'll follow." The whoel trip they just swalked silent, expet maybe the sarcastic jab or two back and forth.

((crappy post but I'm at work and its the end :P))
