| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Yaksha sat in the middle of Hauntwood Marsh, the gentle sucking of the bogs and the buzzing of insects loud in his ears. After several moments, a soft, rythmic humming issued from his own mouth, one which resonated, and filled the silences of the bugs. His voice steadily grew in pitch with each inhalation, until eventually, his voice carried throughout the entire forest. Finally, he opened his eyes, and rose, a look of complete emptiness on his face. He rose, his humming quiet once more. After a moment, he shoved his thumbs into his pockets, and walked steadily into the bog. His humming grew softer, and softer, finally dispersing as he stood in the very middle of the water. He rose his hands to the air, and sank gently, disappearing under the muck with a squelch... |

Fara're the were-tiger moved through the forest with the ease of any cat. She twitched her long ears as the bug buzzed around her head. Annoying little creatures. She wished she could get away from the insects, but in a place like this that was not going to happen anytime soon. With a sigh she resigned herself to become bug food. Her tail twitched back and forth as she prepared to move on. With a leap she spang into on of the trees. She knew she could not avoid the bugs, but she could at least avoid the bog by staying in the trees. The were-tiger moved from tree to tree traveling for a good distance. She stopped suddenly with the scent in the air changed. It was somewhat familar to her and she did not like it. A soft snarl left her lips as she realized it was the smell of something with fiendish blood. The only thing with such blood she had met so far was Erolam, and those meetings had not been pleasent. She stay perched in her tree looking around for the source of the smell, not knowing she was right above the hidden Yaksha. |

Yaksha began to hum again from under the muck. The bubbles rose, popping lazily. Finally, he himself rose, in his full demonic form. His long, skinless legs were covered in much, and his arms had sharp bones pointing out. He pointed up at Fara're, and then let out a mad cackle. He floated just over the bog, and then landed on the ground. He smiled demonically, and then beckoned with a finger. "Come here, kitty kitty...." |

Fara're glared down at the half-fiend. Her ears went flat against her head and her tail flick to and fro in an agitated fashion. She bared her sharp teeth as she let out a hiss. A clear warning she was not one to be underestemated. "I am no 'kitty' and I do not come when beckoned" she growled. "Who are you and what do you want? I should warn you I have little love your type." ((sorry for the lame short post)) |

Yaksha shrugged, and sat down on the ground. "Some people just can't understand making a grand entrance." He waved lazily, and smiled genially at her. "Don't worry about me, dear, I don't bite." He lay back, and stared at her, his eyes twinkling merrily. "Come, sit, let's talk. I apologize for scaring you, simply wanted to make a lastng impression." |

The were-tiger's golden eyes did not leave the fiend for an instant. She did not believe that this thing only wanted to talk. Besides even if she could bring herself to trust it there was no way she was going to sit down in a murky bog! Instead the jumped down to a lower branch and perched there looking at Yaksha. "Then forgive my reaction," she said. "The last one of your kind I ran into tried to eat me, I hope you understand my caution." She then looked down to the wet ground. "And...uh...I will stay up here. I dislike getting wet. You have no idea how hard it is to clean mud out fur." To give some resemblence of her opening her trust she relaxed her body somewhat. Though she was ready to leap into action at any sign of danger. Her long tail dropped down and began to lazily sway back and forth. |

Yaksha gave a gentle, warm laugh, and waved a hand around. "I am not hardly as savage as my brothers and sisters. I, Fara're, am sophisticated. I am a classy, gentlemanly demon, and I assure that you've nothing to worry about." A cane seemed to materialize in his hand, and he gave a soft, resounding chuckle. "I simply wished to have a nice conversation with a friend. I assure you, I'd not lay a hand on you." |

He seemed friendly enough, she did believe that he would not try to harm her...yet. But upon hearing her name her back straightened. Her ears lower, but did not go flat against her skull. Her long tail, which was casually swaying back and forth grew still. "I do no recall sharing my name with you," she said in a low voice. "How is it that you have learned it?" It bothered her that he already knew her name. She never liked it when someone had an advantage on her like that. He knew her name, but she did not know his. She would at least keep her elven idenity a secret for now. Let him know her as a weretiger and weretiger only. |

Yaksha gave a warm, and soft smile. He cocked his head, and then pushed himself out of the much. "Oh, I've my methods. But, trust me, you've got nothing to worry about, your name is safe with me." He stepped forward, giving an overexaggerated bow. "It's a pleasure to meet you. If you don't mind my asking, who exactly was the last of our kind you met? Was it little Erolam? Perhaps even that madman, Fehade?" He shook his head sadly, muttering to himself, "Making a bad name for our kind..." He shrugged, and looked back up, smiling genially at Fara're. "Not all of our kind are monsters, or savages. Some of our kind are just as capable of compassion and understanding as you are. And some of us...are even more capable." |

A growl came from the were-tiger's throat when she heard Erolam's name. "So you know that oversized goat?" she asked. "He seems overly fond of trying to eat me. Too bad for him tigers are hunters...not prey." She relaxed and her ears came up from their flattened possition. They flicked around a few times listening to the sounds of the forest. She as this fellow seemed to be the only ones around. "Alright...I will give you the benefit of the doubt." she said. "So what brings you out here? I do not often find any intellegent life in this part of the forest." |

Yaksha gave a soft chuckle. "Fara're, dear, I don't often find intelligent life ANYWHERE." He shook his head, then pushed off the marshland, onto his feet. "I was simply here to enjoy a day to myself. It just so happened you wandered into the same place as me." He bowed graciously, then motioned for her to come closer. "Won't you join me, Fara're?" His voice was silken, soft, flowing like warm honey. |

She studied him for a moment and let his words sink in. He seemed truthful enough to her. "Oh all right," she said with a sigh. "I guess I should know you can't judge one just because of their birth. Can't tell you how many idiots have tried to hunt me once they found out I was a were-tiger." She then flexed her claws, "A few of them were too stupid to stop when I warned them." She slipped down to the lowest branch on the tree that would support her weight. It was only a few feet above the wet marshland. "But I think I will still stay in the tree," she said. "As I mentioned, mud is so difficult to get out of fur. And I hate getting wet." Her ears were relaxed and they moved around, still listening to the sounds of the forest incase any unwanted visitors arrived. Her strong legs swung around so that she was sitting on the tree branch as if it were a bench. Her long tail swished back and forth in a lazy manner. She was just high enough that the tip of it barely missed hitting the ground. She strong legs swung around so that she was sitting on the tree branch as if it were a bench. "So then let us chat," she said with a smile. |

Yaksha shook his head solemnly when she mentioned people hunting her, and though his voice hasn't changed in any noticeable manner, he now seemed less of an unsettling demon, and more of a wise sage. His words seemed weary, and pained. "Oh, Fara're, I feel your pain. I myself have been hunted more times than I can possibly count, all because of my lineage." He pushed himself off the mud, his voice almost seeming to echo inside of Fara're's head. "The humans, the 'normals'....they hate us, they FEAR us. They could never accept or respect someone like me or you." He stepped forward, his eyes blazing with a righteous fury, and his voice having dropped several decibals, becoming imploring and soft, jagged and bitter. "They would kill us all in the blink of an eye if given the chance. Every damned one of them. The fiends care nothing for our own feelings and opinions. After all, we're nothing but monsters, and a monster can't truly FEEL, doesn't know how to THINK...." He spat on the ground, then looked up, his voice rising again, furious and raging. "They say we are the monsters, but the only true monsters that exist in this world are them!" He stepped forward, his face now only a few feet from Fara're's, and his voice full of a bitter chuckle. "You have the potential to be something, great, my dear Fara're. Don't let these 'normals' take what is yours by right. If they want to see you as a monster....then you must BECOME a monster. There will be no respect for our kind, except for that which spawns from FEAR. That simple, primal, utterly undiluted emotion, Fara're. Only through fear and desperation will we become welcomed. After all, if we're too strong to beat, too monstrous to be chased off, what choice do they have but to give us what we deserve? My dear, sweet Fara're, when what is yours will not be given....then you must simply TAKE it." His hand lashed out, clamping into a fist. When it opened, a butterfly lay within it, mirculously unharmed. He blew on it, and it flew off in a lazy spiral. "My dear, what the normals do isn't FAIR. They take and take, grow fat off the fruit of our labors, and then shun us when we simply ask to be seen as an equal. Is it really so wrong, to want what has been kept from us for so long? To kill for it, to DIE for it?" He reached out, his hand looking soft and inviting. "Won't you join me, Fara're? Won't you bring justice to this land that has forgotten the meaning of the very word?" |

Fara're listened to Yaksha's ranting. Her ears dropped at little as she thought about his words. "Some of your words ring true...but I can't agree with it all," she said softly. "Not all of these 'normals' as you call them are the same. My mother was a 'normal' before she died from the lycant infection that caused me to be born like this. My teacher, who taught me how to fight was also a 'normal' and he knew what I am." She paused for a moment. Her golden eyes came up and looked straight into Yasha's. "Just because people think we are monsters does not make them one. And does not mean we need to become one to be respected. People fear what they do not understand. Acceptance will come when others come to understand us. Acceptance will not come by instilling more fear into them. Besides I only fight or kill for two reasons. One, when my life or the life of who I am protecting is in danger. The second is if I am hunting and am killing for food. And food by my defintion are the animals of the forests and plains." She looked away from him and sighed. "Your cause is a good one, but the means will not justify the end. I will not join you, if this is how you are going to go about accomplishing things." |

Yaksha shook his head sadly, and turned on the ball of his foot. "Such a shame. I promise you acceptance, now. And you choose...to fight alongside those who would shun you. You do know, Fara're, the moment the battle is over and won, they would abandon you, turn their backs on you? The normals would hate you, Fara're. But I....I would always give you the respect you deserve." |
