| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Aether Draka remembered this path. It ended somewhere... She had been following it through the forest for a while now and she knew it just seemed to stop. The forest was fairly quiet this evening and most would take the silence as a sign that something might not be right. AD didn't though. She didn't seem to care or for that matter did she seem to add any noise of her own as she walked along. The road branched off ahead. As she approached she saw one road veered off to the right rather sharply and continued on it's way. She didn't remember that at all, though it had been raining last time she had been here. That might have something to do with it. So it ended up ahead. AD went on ahead, ignoring the safer path and heading right for the swamp. Up ahead she saw the skeleton of a wagon and smiled. That was the spot! She picked up her pace a bit until she rounded the corner. There, she stopped. The top of the wagon was there but it looked like the thing had sunk since her last visit. Feeling rather discouraged she fell back into a walk. It had sunk quite a lot actually. The wheels were not visible at all and most of the box frame seemed to be leaning to the right and covered in undergrowth. She stopped right where the road started to become mire. |

A soft voice issued from behind Draka, full of sorrow and remorse. "Normally such a beautiful place. A shame the gods had to decide to drown in it even more water." A figure stood in the middle of the road, wearing a dark suit and a tophat, with two roses seeming to grow from it. He seemed to scan the marsh slowly, with impassive eyes. Finally, he spat on the ground, and shook his head. "Gods, eh? Where are they now, when the world needs them?" He looked up, his eyes now softened by his pity for nature. "I'm sorry, dear. I didn't mean to come off as eccentric. I just hate to see the world changed so drastically by something as simple as rain. Name's Yaksha, by the way." He began to walk towards her, seeming almost to hop from foot to foot as he did. "Storms do not respond to heartless pleas. All the words of men can't calm the seas. Nature--always beneficial and cruel-- won't change for a wise man or a fool." |

AD looked back over at the newcomer and tipped her head slightly to the right as he talked. She thought about what he was saying and then blinked and shook her head, the many braids upon her head fanning out at the movement before settling upon her shoulders once more. "The Gods didn't do this. Nor simply rain. This was caused by me. I would rather the Gods stay out of my business as far as I'm concerned. Nearly dieing at the hands of one because they think that they can save you...” She trailed off and sighed. She didn't need to get worked up about that again. She took all those thoughts and shoved them away. Then she smiled a real smile and said, “I'm AD. If you don't mind though, I have to find something.” She closed her eyes for a moment and whispered the spell under her breath. She was going to need a better way to cast that spell. Stupid book... Either way, she felt herself become weightless and she opened her eyes to see she was off the ground. Without having to worry about sinking herself now, she moved out over the wagon. Now were was it? She couldn't see anything under the mire. She landed on the highest corner of the wagon and it creaked a little under her weight but held. There had been a crate in here. The chest had been broken open and she could see part of the skeleton of the man that had been in the back of the wagon. It looked fairly clean actually. She needed the small box from inside that crate. She had gotten back the book, but the box wasn't mentioned until the other day. She had decided to turn down their offer for her to get the box for them too because the reward wasn't worth the trip. They had annoyed her. Instead she was trying to steal it before they came looking for it themselves or sent someone else... |

Yaksha couldn't resist searching something as obscure as the wagon. He had looked inside, finding little of interest. Only one thing had caught his eye, and he had taken it to look at closer. He smiled wryly at AD, then pulled that one thing from his pocket in a flash. The very box she had been looking for way lying in his hand, and he had his eyebrows raised just slightly. "Looking for this, I would surmise. You can have it, I just couldn't help being curious." He threw the box on the ground, then bowed slightly to her. "Consider it a gift, freely given." The box lie on the ground, as closed as it had ever been when Yaksha had attempted to open it. The sheer tenacity of the container intruiged him, and he was going to ask an expert about it. Until AD came.... After a moment, he walked forward, his body swaying just slightly. "So, AD. When did you find out you were a tiefling?" His lips were pulled back in a knowing grin, and with every step he began to look less and less human. By the time he was standing before her, he was hovering several inches off the ground like her, and his true, fiendish form was laid out for her to see. "Frankly, I knew I was a half-fiend from the moment I was old enough to comprehend anything." He smiled sweetly at her, even though it was against his nature. "I think me and you might really get along, AD. I meant what I said about the box. Take it, it's of no use to me." |

Aether Draka didn't know if that was the box she was looking for or not. She wasn't very happy about the fact that he just threw it on the ground though. She reached int her pouch and pulled out a tiny copper colored dragon she she pointed the box out too before standing where she was, still perched on the highest corner of the wagon. She had been going to ignore him for the most part, but now she was wondering if there was some sort of trick here. Had he been sent to get the box? Was that really what she had come back out here to get? She needed a moment to be able to check but she doubted she would have the chance now. "After my mother was killed. Why should it matter to you when I found out or not though?" She asked, not sure what this demon wanted. She didn't like it when they went around in circles like that. What was so wrong about getting to the point? Turin, in the meantime, had zipped over to the box and grabbed it with all four of his clawed feet. He flapped his wings and got it off the ground. He flew up to a tree though instead of back to AD and sat atop the box atop a branch that he curled his tail around so neither he nor the box would fall. |

"Just a harmless little query, AD." He then smiled at her, and bowed. "I am but a humble yakshini, I was out for a walk when I saw you." He walked forward, and looked over AD. "Why so hostile, AD? I only want to be friends." He folded his hands outward, smiling invitingly. "I'm not that bad a person, when you get to know me." He reached into a pocket, and pulled out a small necklace, a glass sphere, and in the very middle lay an eye, forever looking, yet never seeing. He extended his hand, the eye rolling to face AD. "Consider it a present from a friend." |

AD frowned at him, then took a step back and let the spell levitation hold her up in the air as she took a set on nothingness. "Because people who want to be friends usually want something from me or have more to gain out of it then I do. I have other friends who are probably a lot better then you would be. I already have one cursed item from someone I thought I could trust that is acting like you are right now." She hooked the silver chain around her neck with with her finger to let the silver ring hang from the end of it. The ring had an evil aura all it's own and even though it was made of bright silver it seemed darker then the shadows. She let the necklace go and the ring fell against her breastbone. She held out her hand for Turin as she said, "So tell me what reason do I have to trust you?" Turin loosened his grip on the branch and flew the box over to AD's open palm. He landed there with it and his tail instinctively curled around her wrist. She took hold of the box and Turin let it go th crawl part way up her arm and then looked at Yaksha. |

Yaksha made a bow, his arm sweeping around. "I secede, you've nothing but my word that I mean you no harm." Yaksha rose slowly, his eyes deep and full of the sorrow of the ages. "Time has been so cruel, and none will stand by my side." He let out a soft sigh, and sat on a rock, his entire demeaner one who is at the edge of sorrow. He waved a hand dismissively, his voice heavy. "Just go. The box is yours to keep." |

Aether Draka looked at this man, demon? What ever he was he was confusing her rather badly and she didn't like it. Part of her felt like doing just that, leaving, and then she felt like another part of her felt sorry for him. Part of her wanted to help him some how and part of her wanted to attack him. She shook her head in a vain attempt to clear out the thoughts and start over. Alright, so she had come here to get the box before... The sound of a fallen branch snapping and footfalls drew her attention to the path she had just left. She heard a voice, but not the words, and another voice reply with a laugh. They were coming! AD shoved the box in her pouch as Turin continued to cling to her arm. She went quickly past him and landed on solid ground only to start running away from the spot as quickly and quietly as she could. She then paused for less then a moment before jumping up and catching the lowest branch of a still firmly rooted tree and swinging herself up into it. She climbed up a few more branches and settled where a larger branch forked further away from the trunk. Looking down she heard people approaching, though she didn't see them yet. |

Yaksha noticed Aether Draka climbing the branches of a nearby tree. His tongue flickered out lazily, a small pink orb quivering just slightly in the air. Within a split second, he had returned to the state he was in when he first met AD, and his trademark cane was in his right hand, his left in his pocket. He was already humming softly to himself, simply waiting for the new arrivals. It wasn't long before they arrived, both men looking rather busy and rude. They perused Yaksha with obvious apathy, then walked forward. One of them pushed him aside, snarling, "Step aside, we're busy.". The two instantly walked over to the wagon, and looked inside. Silently, the two stepped away, and began to whisper hurredly. "It isn't THERE!" "Then where the hell is it!?" Yaksha cleared his throat rather ceremoniously, smiling patronizingly at them. "Looking for the box, are you gentleman?" They whirled on him, fury obvious in their eyes. "Tell us where it is!" Yaksha shook his head sadly, and tutted softly. "Tsk tsk. Did no one ever teach you you catch more flies with honey than vinegar?" "We don't have time for this, just kill him!" The two men drew their swords, and Yaksha was already laughing, having taken his own preparations. "Well, then. Let's just see if you can beat it out of me." He winked slyly at AD, making sure the two didn't see. |

AD shook her head in disbelief. They were idiots, all three of them. AD dropped out of the tree and took a few steps forward. "You are all idiots! All of you! Why do you think that I refused to go get the box? It wasn't in the wagon and that you two think he," she pointed at Yaksha, "has it then perhaps I should save the world a lot of trouble and have rid of you two now!" She shook her head, the many wine colored braids tumbling about her shoulders. "You know what, it's not my problem. You three can all be idiots all you want. I'm done with it. I'm going to go to Cascadia now. Have a nice day, if that's even possible." She waved her had dismissively and turned on her heel to walk back up the road to where it forked. The two men had paused at her showing up, but hadn't sheathed their weapons. At her words about the box the older man held up his hand to have his younger brother hold his blade. He then turned to the man they had been about to attack. "Is she speaking th truth?" He demanded, pointing his blade towards AD as she was walking away. |
