| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Major OOC here. Thank you for joining my little quest, I hope it lives up to the scale I have envisioned and keeps you all interested enough to keep coming back for more. As I've said before, it'll be slow going for the first bit, but will pick up in speed and difficulty later on (I hope). Rules & Guidelines: First off, inventories. I don't want you to list them (although I thought about it), but I do want you to stick with the same load for the entirety of the topic here. For realism's sake, no buying stuff during the topic and then using it if you didn't have it at the start. If you buy something before your first post, but haven't received it, we'll assume you have it. Between topics I'll allow enough time to pass in game for your equipment to change. Secondly, please don't hijack the thread. I'm trying to RP a part in this and be the DM too. Please, play along. I don't care about the small stuff, but please don't take the group and go burn random villages to the ground. Please? If you have an idea, PM me about it, maybe the others too. Democracy for the win. Finally, post orders. I don't care what order you go in. Mix it, match it, don't double post. You have at least one post a day you can do, more if more people are on when you are. Please don't go crazy with it, though. I don't want to see ten pages of posts with only two people doing the posting. Just some consideration, please. I hope that's it... I'll edit as new things come up. On to the show, OOC ends here. Search For The Amulet Part one Pale moonlight did little to light Melmoth's way to the Taras library. It's spired and carved form stood out against the starry sky, a fortress of knowledge fighting an eternal battle against ignorance. It's champions had put down their weapons for the night and delayed continuation of the battle untill the morrow, leaving a perfect meeting place for those who had the connections to get in. Melmoth wound his way through alleys and little used byways, preferring to avoid being seen by unwanted eyes. It gave him time to think of what exactly he had gotten into, and every time he went down that line of inquiry, he always landed at the same conclusion. He had no clue what was going on. A strange letter had found him one night as he slept. In the middle of the Debon Plains, a messenger had found him, deposited its' letter, and left without a trace. Strange things were afoot, but the letter promised his dream fulfilled if he complied with all messages, and followed them to their end. The mystery of who sent the letter, and more importantly how the sender discovered a secret none living were supposed to know drove him harder than a thousand demons on his back. Someone had a great amount of pain in store for them, even if they were good on their promise. And so here he stood, at the large oaken doors of the Taras Library, fully two hours before the others the letter had promised were due to show up. He had time to find the book, read up on the artifact within, and prepare to meet his team. Barely a moment's hesitation, then Melmoth was inside the library, and with a candle stolen from the information desk, looking for the book. ~ ~ ~ Quite an interesting read. The first book had been useless, except for the coded directions scrawled in the margins leading to a second book that was the real treasure. The book detailed little actual fact, but what is suggested was more than enough to dispell all doubts about the quest he had been given. If even half of what the book proposed was true then the amulet was almost worth stealing, regardless of the price. Melmoth closed the book and placed it reverently upon a table in the middle of a circle of armchairs he'd set up. Moonlight spilled from the giant frosted windows behind behind him and were almost as good as candlelight. He closed his eyes and put out his one remaining candle, and let his hawk, Emily's sight wash over him. She had perched over the door not long ago at his command and would keep watch for the others. |

It had been nearly two days since Orion received the mysterious letter. From whom it came he did not know. It was in the manner in which it came to him that intrigued him the most. He was in the Norwood Forest hunting for small game and foraging for berries. The day was in the norm and all was well. It came time for his usual nap and rested in the branches of the trees. When he woke, there was a black crow at his feet with a letter in it’s beak. It was standing there on the branch before him and just stared with it’s beady black eyes. Orion took the letter and the bird flew away. Someone knew exactly where he was and it chilled him to the bone. The letter was compelling. It spoke of an amulet of great power. This sparked the hopes of Orion rescuing his mother. Maybe the one who sent him the letter was only trying to help. At once Orion packed enough dried meat and berries for the two day trip. He would head to the Talas Library. He had never been there before but he heard that it was a vault of knowledge and he knew that there must be some kind of information there about this amulet. Night had fallen on the city by the time Orion reached the center of the city. Passers by pointed him in the direction of the great library when he asked for directions. He could see the great tower against the stars in the night sky. It was large and forbidding. Orion wondered why people would build a library to look like this. As he neared, he noticed the great detail that put into making this structure of knowledge. The great wooden doors were open and Orion noticed a hawk sitting on top of one of the doors. He walked in and took asked to be pointed in the direction of ancient artifacts. He took several books and chose a table for himself. His large body barely fit on the small chairs. Orion noticed someone sitting at a round table with several empty chairs. He went about his business and opened up the books. He didn’t think that he may have found the right ones but he read on anyway. There were wonderful tales of powerful ancient artifacts, but Orion did not find what he was looking for. |

As she entired the library she remember what had happened to her the last time she was here. She had promptly feel alseep and was awaken by a talking cat named Piter. She glace around and saw no sign of her feline friend. A sad sigh left her lips. Her green eyes glaced back down to the letter she had recieved just a few days ago. It spoke of an item of great power. Now, she was not one to be interested in magic items and power. But she was curious, and once she was curious about something...nothing would stop her until she found soemthing out about it. A man was sitting at one of the tables, with a letter much like hers. Figuring he must be here for the same reasons as she, she made her way towards the table and sat next to him. She smiled in greeting. "Goodevening sir," said the were-tiger (who was currently in elven form). "You have a letter like mine. Does that mean we are here for the same reason?" |

Emily's eyes, meant for daytime and ample light, were nonetheless adequate to spot the first of the other comers. He approached boldly, seemingly confident in his safety in the open. As he neared, Melmoth decided he was a half-elf by his looks, the exact breed impossible to tell from such a cursory examinationin in poor light. Always looking for weaknesses in others, Melmoth filed away a mental note to figure out exactly what kind of half-elf he was, and to later research their kind. Melmoth opened his eyes and watched as the elfling entered, and went to the same section where he himself would've looked for information on the Amulet. It was in vain, though, and the elfling looked as if he was starting to find that out. Whoever had set the meeting up, had gone to enough trouble to hide the book, that a second volume would not be easily found. Grinning a mirthless grin, Melmoth half stood up before his sight vanished and was replaced with Emily's again. He fell back into the chair and watched through her eyes as the second one came. Another elf, but full-blooded by her looks instead of the muddied ancestry of the first. A familiar tingle in his head heralded her as a potential candidate for a dark destiny. Fate, it seemed, was giving him every opportunity to free himself. On one hand, a temporary reprieve, on the other, a full pardon. Shaking off his shared sight, he watched her approach. She greeted him kindly, and asked about his letter. The damn thing was there on the table. Right there! In plain sight, although folded so the script was hidden, secrets laid. He whisked the letter away into his cloak before speaking. "That depends on your reason. I am here for one reason, and you another, but I belive our reasons are not so different. Please, sit." Motioning to the Helf-Elf at another table, Melmoth also bid him sit. "Others approach as we speak. If you would wait untill they arrive, I could reveal all at once." |
