Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Fara're was quite bored as she walked through the town. She saw the library and decided she had nothing else to do. She entered the library and began to look about.

It was a very large library. She never really was one to read much....but she guess it was never too late to start. She plucked out a book at random and sat down in a big chair. She open the book and began to read. It seemed to be some sort of history about Imythess.

As she somewhat expected it was boring. After a few moments she began to drift off to sleep. The book fell out of her hand with a loud thud and then was sound asleep.

Curled up in the chair she looked very cat like sleeping there. She was so fast asleep that she was totally unaware of anyone coming or going in the library.

Piter walked into the library as usual, on time. The Librarian let him in, the elderly old lady one of his few trusted. "Good afternoon, Piter." She said in an adoring tone. The birdlike old woman was quite surprised when he had spoke, but old people were hard to scare.

He spied a woman sleeping at a table, seeing her drop the book. "Good afternoon." He purred, walking over to the occupied table. The old woman smiled and returned to her duties. Piter crawled onto the chair, then to the table. He sniffed her hair, then sat on the open book in front of her, legs dissapearing in his coat. He purred heavily and watched her for a while before deciding to wake her up.

Piter stood and stretched, keeping an eye on his surroundings. Piter grinned and flicked his tail in the woman's face, drawing it under her nose to tickle it. He chuckled to himself and continued, swiping at her hair.

Fara're's nose twitched as Piter's tail swept in front of her face. She sleepily batted it away, but it did not good. Suddenly she let out a loud sneeze which echoed through the library.

Her own sneeze scared her so much that she lept out of her chair, causing the cat on her lap to fall to the ground. Her leap caused her to land on the back of the chair where she perched with an arched back. Her black hair stood on end.

She turned red as she noticed people looking at her. Slowly she slid herself down the the floor again. She looked down at the ginger cat and stooped to pick him up.

"Sorry about that..." she said. "You gave me a bit of a shock waking me up like that."

She cradled the cat in her arms. She loved cats. Must be part of her nature seeing that she was a were-tiger. She scratched the cat behind the ear, know that is where felines liked it best.

She bent her head low, close to the cat's head. "You should know how heavily felines like us sleep," she whispered softly enough for no one to over hear. "Next time can you wake me without giving me a fright? I almost transformed when you did that...and that would have been a bad thing."

She sat back down and placed the cat on her lap stroking his soft fur.

Piter was surprised when she dropped him, but felt content as she picked him up to cradle, scratching his ear. He purred smoothly, listening to her talk to him. He smiled when he thought about talking, but waited a moment. The old librarian looked over at him, a knowing look on her face. She knew his mischeif well enough to know not to interfere.

Piter's eyes opened in realization as she said she almost turned. That was what drew him close to her, he had sensed a cat! He chuckled as he purred, not one for self control, he was bursting at the seams to not speak.

"Especially in this library. Could scare a good few people." He said aloud to her as she cradled him. He hopped onto the table from her arms and stood on his hind legs, sitting up. He put one paw behind his back and one to his stomach, over the creamier portion of his belly. Piter gave a small bow. "Nice to meet you, ma'am. Name's Piter." He smiled and watched her reaction.

He loved these reactions.

Fara're's green eyes went wide with surprise when the cat talked. She then laughed as he bowed. She knew there was something different about this cat!

She gave him a warm smiled. "Well met Piter. I am Fara're," she said. "It is not often I meet someone as cute and charming as yourself. And much less often that I meet a talking cat. But then again...the same can be said for me sometimes."

Her grin the dissapeared from her face and instead was replaced with look of worry. This cat talked...and understood her. And she had pretty much just told it she was a were-tiger just a moment again. If that got out...

She looked back down to Piter her eyes meeting his. She cocked her head as she studied him. Well...he was a cat so perhaps he would not let her secret out.

She put her elbows on the table and rested her head in her hands. Her face was just a few inches away from his. In a low voice she spoke to him. "I pretty much just flat out told you I was no normal elf didn't I? Do me a favor and don't talk about it too much. Many people have tried to kill me when they found out what I truely am."

She eyes darted around to make sure no one over heard her. She let out a sigh of relief when it seemed she and Piter were being completely ignored by everyone else.

Piter purred at her compliments and bowed once more before sitting in front of her, smiling to himself. The girl seemed worried. Rightly so, as any form of were-creature was hated, and usually carried a good bounty with the right people.

Piter smiled. "Nothing to worry about. I'm trustworthy." He chuckled and watched her. This one seemed different somehow. Perhaps it was her feline features.

"We should get together outside the city sometime and you can show me. I'd like to see your other form." He nodded to himself happily. He turned his attention to the candle on the table. It was getting darker outside. He flicked his tail, sending two sparks out, lighting the blackened wick, wax shortened with use.

A purr escaped him once more. The woman seemed funny to him, jumpy in her worries and paranoia. He would be too if he had people looking for his head.

"Fara're... Nice name." He thought over it for a small while. "I was given mine by the one who created me."

Fara're smiled at Piter. She was quickly growing to like him quite a bit.

"Sure!" she said happily. "I would gladly show you my other form. I prefer it anyways. I'll show next time we are out of town."

Her eye brighten when she saw him use magic. She always liked magic, but never had the patience to learn it. The light of the candle reflected off her eyes and emphazised the gold streaks in them.

When he compliment her on her name she smiled brightly. "Thanks. I was told that was what my mother wanted to name me." Her eyes grew sad for a brief moment, "I never knew her...she died soon after I was born. She died because of the...infection." She left it at that. She figured Piter was smart enough to figure out that the 'infection' ment the were-infection her mother had.

A smile soon replaced her sad look again. She never dwelt on the past much, and never let things upset her for long. "Piter is a nice name too. But what do you mean by 'created'?"

Piter cocked his head to the side when she spoke of the infection, but figured it out. He decided to leave the topic at that, seeing it was not a comfortable subject.

When she asked about him being created, he grinned. "I am no normal cat, moreso than you may already think. I am actually twenty three years old. Created in a tower outside Cascadia by a withering human mage at the peak of his powers. He passed away a few years later."

He decided not to mention the hand he had in the deed. It gave people the wrong impression. He preferred not to have his friends think he was malicious, plotting, and a murderer.

He smiled, realizing he had worn a sad face while thinking of the death. "Due to my magical nature, i am essentially immortal, my lifeline directly connected to that of Magic. Thus, i can use it." He grinned and flicked his tail, sending a jet of force to knock over a stack of books on someone's table on the other side of the library. He laughed as the man looked around, startled.

"Wow..." she said. "I did not know wizards had that kind of power to create something like you. I mean...I heard of golems and the like but they are all brainless. It must have taken some power to make an intelligent creature."

She laughed as he used some of his magic again. "I have tried to learn magic before...but I just could not understand any of it. I am much better when it comes to physical stuff. Feels more natural to me...I guess kind of how magic is natural for you."

She looked down at the floor and realized she had never picked her book back up. She bent down and scooped it up and placed it back on the table. She smirked as she remembered falling asleep while reading it. "I can barely read a book without getting bored half the time. No wonder why I can't understand magic. I get distracted way too easily."

"So....what brings a fine little fellow like yourself to Taras?"

Piter chuckled at the girl, a smile spreading across his face. She was a fun one. He wondered about when and where it would be safe to go outside. He Thought about her first comment.

"Normally they don't, but in this case he was used as a conduit more than anything. But i guess he had a hand in it." Piter purred and watched her as he licked a paw.

"It takes quite a bit of work and concentration to use magic, not something many people have." He commented, continuing his grooming. He stopped for a moment to look around. The man across the room had just finished putting the books back. Piter flicked his tail again and looked at Fara're amusedly.

"Many things bring me here, but studying is the number one reason. This library is th best i could find. The best that doesn't require a bit of lock-breaking and coercing to get into." He winked and resumed his groming.

"I guess if I were into magic as well that would be what would draw me here too," she replied. She looked around the large library. "This is indeed the largest library I have been in. I find it kind of amazing that so many books can be gathered into one place."

She looked back to Piter. She found him to be a really cute cat. And him being a talking one just made her like him all the more. She guess many people underestemated him. But then again, people often underestemated her.

She reached forward and transfromed just on of her fingers into her tiger form. With her long claw she began to gently scratch Piter behind the ear. No one would take any notice that just one of her finger was orange with black strips and she knew that her new friend would enjoy it.

"I don't have any reason like that to be in Taras. I am just here because this is where my feet took me," she said. "I really have no place that calls me to be there, I just go where the road takes me."

"So...do you enjoy shocking people by going up and just talking to them?" she asked. "Has it brought you any trouble before with people thinking you are some kind of evil creature. Can't tell you how often that happens with me when people find out what I am. Especially the elves..."

Piter winked mischeviously. "Yes, i find it strangely satisfying as well as amusing to do so. And yes, it has brought such a reaction. Such as one man who cursed at me and tried to smash me with his hammer." Piter thought it over for a moment. "Now that i think about it, it wasn't the brightest idea to try it in a blacksmith's shop." He chuckled.

"What about you? What kind of trouble?" He grinned and picked up a book left by the previous table user. Her scratching with the claw made him shiver and purr, a low rumbling.

"Ah, that's good. Better than a fingernail, that." He chuckled and leaned his head towards the finger, eyes closed.

His purrs brought the attention of the librarian, who looked rather surprised. She laughed softly and walked over to piter. "Enjoying yourself?" She seemed not to notice the clawed finger.

"Very much so." He laughed to himself, eyes still shut.
