Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

He continued the chase, and folded his wings close to his side, so he sped towards her like a bullet. The girl was fast, and the ground came fast. There was a rock where the woman headed, and he wondered what she planned, but he soon found out. She used a spell to go through the rock and was soon gone from sight. He brought out his wings and best them hard so he didn't hit the ground hard. He brought himself up higher, then circled in the sky, watching the rock, then he lowered a ways off, till his feet touched the ground and he landed. His eyes stayed on the rock all the while, then he walked forward towards it.

When he was near, he laid down, and peered at the rock, curious as to what spell she had used. His icy eyes stayed on the rock, as he folded one leg over the other, and he cocked his head slightly, curious. Then he stood up again, and then, slowly changed into a human. It was a silent process, the only noise that could be heard was a ruffled of scales, then silence.

Soon, there was the sound of boots crunching on the hard ground, and he stopped by the rock then crouched down and looked underneath it, to the woman. His long white flowing hair blowing around his face. His strange looking eyes gleamed with interest, but that same hungry look stayed in them.

"Neat trick you pulled, human. None of my prey has ever done that before, though, none of them put up such a big fight either. I certainly didn't expect it from you, especially a woman." He said, a cold smile on his alarmingly pale skin. He wondered if he could lure her out, maybe try to gain her trust, but that would take forever, and he was hungry now. He kept a calm look, though, in human form, he felt weak, and without his scales to protect him, that nearly made him panic, but he hid that, not wanting to seem scared or anything, its a white dragons worst fear to show fear, well, it was for him.

She breathed heavy beneath the rock. Had it worked? She was flat on the ground and she pulled herself up, tucking her wings away so they were unnoticeable. They still ached and she knew that she couldn’t fly very far on them now. They had been working hard just to keep her in the air. It was these things that told her she needed to be out flying more than she was. She needed to gain some more endurance in the air so she could survive another dragon attack.

Nothing seemed to be happening. She heard a faint ruffling then silence. Was he gone? She didn’t want to crawl out from her hiding space right now. She could sit up and use that spell again to look out over the rock and see where he was. But she didn’t want to do that either. She suddenly sound again. She froze underneath her rock and saw a small opening. How had she not noticed that before? She moved closer and gazed out looking for something when she saw boots approaching her... she backed up.

"Neat trick you pulled, human. None of my prey has ever done that before, though, none of them put up such a big fight either. I certainly didn't expect it from you, especially a woman."

Oh great it was still that damn dragon. She voice hissed between her teeth after he said that last word. “Well think of this. A woman just won against a dragon. I wonder how that makes you feel?” She didn’t care at this moment if she was courteous to this man. She didn’t care if she was going against her whole personality traits. He wanted to eat her and she was pissed.

“ And yes it was a neat trick. And of course I’m going to put up a fight when you’re planning to eat me. And if I come out I can get back in here just as easily so I wouldn’t try anything!” She wasn’t sure if the second part was entirely true but he didn’t need to know that.

He peered through the crack, but it was very hard to see her, everything seemed to be a dark shade of gray, and black, no white anywhere. He heard her move, then her voice, and what she said, made him flinch slightly in irritation. He frowned and gazed at the crack, before he sat on the ground, and folded his legs, and then leaned forward slightly.

"Who says I haven't won yet? As far as I'm concerned, we're just getting started in this frenzy. If I give up now, then I'd have to live with the fact that I did get beaten by a woman." He said, and disliked that idea, not that he had anything wrong with women or anything, he just hated being beaten by them, like the red dragon Jade.

“And yes it was a neat trick. And of course I’m going to put up a fight when you’re planning to eat me. And if I come out I can get back in here just as easily so I wouldn’t try anything!”

He thought about this a moment, then smiled ever so slightly, that strange, dragon likje smile. "I can move faster then you know it, girl. Once you step out, I'll snap you in half." He said, and he liked that idea, and thought about it more. When he killed her, he'd freeze her till she would be ice cold, and while she freezes, he would go look for more food, maybe a cow or two, then it would be the most delicious meal ever. He smiled at the idea, then looked back at the rock, and knew that that, would cause some complications, though, he could of course turn back into a dragon and tear the rock away.

He contemplated this idea, and his eyes seemed thoughtful, a dangerous look in his blue eyes. He leaned back then, and propped himself up with the palms of his hands, still, his gaze never left the crack, as if he could see through it and see her. His dragon like smile never left his face.

“Oh don’t worry I will beat you,” Lilith backed up further into the small space, until her feet hit the rock wall behind her. She had to wonder how this would all end since he seemed like he’d wait out here for days if he wanted to. She knew she wouldn’t survive without water or food. She didn’t respond to his second comment because then he might know how far back she is.

Instead she let him keep watching inside the crack and reached up to feel the rock above her head. She used her spell once more but didn’t go completely out of the rock. She brought out the upper half of her body and rested her head on her elbows and watched the man duck over to look inside her hiding spot. It was quite a sight to see the mighty dragon in human form bending over to get a better look at her.

She might as well have a little fun while she still had the chance. “Hey!” She called and picked up a small rock hurling it towards the dragon/human, aiming for his head. “Think you’re so tough huh?” She picked up another rock and tossed it up and down in her hand, no real intention to throw it entered her mind, not until he advanced on her. But she was slightly enjoying having him wait for her to exit instead of her fleeing from him.

“I’ll bet you that I will win this. I’ll get out of this alive. And you’ll have lost to a woman.” It seemed to bother him, and Lilith loved that. She dangled the fact that she had made it this far like a piece of meat to a dog. She would enjoy this for as long as she could, and this almost gave her a renewed sense of energy. She wouldn’t let him win no matter what it took she would survive. “I bet that when I do win you’ll never be able to forget it. Here..” Lilith turned her head from side to side and shook out her golden hair. “You won’t want to forget my face.” She laughed a little.

Even with the banter she fingered the rock in her hand and tried to judge when he’d make a move to go after her again so she could buy some time and slip back into her hiding spot and figure out a real plan. She just wanted to gloat for a moment was all.

“Oh don’t worry I will beat you,”

He merely rolled his eyes, and continued to watch. He didn't notice her half-way through the rock, he was trying to focus on through the cave which was pretty much impossible for him, and once again, he cursed himself for being colorblind. But when he heard her yell, and then a rock hit his head, he instantly looked up at the woman, and his eyes narrowed as he noticed she hadn't come up all the way through the rock, but he wondered if he could still snap her. He watched her a moment, not moving or doing anything, even as she spoke again.

“Think you’re so tough huh?”

He cocked his head slightly, not finding that worthy enough to answer. He knew he was strong, stronger then this human, and even stronger then a whale, he could easily take things down, and she should know that, the only he couldn't take down where red dragons, the white dragons enemies, even though they were both chromatic dragons.

He looked at the rock she threw up and down, hoping she wouldn't throw it, he hated not having his scales to protect him. He frowned again, and tried to remember why he was wasting his time on this foolish thing.

He knew if he stood up and approach, she would most likely hide in her little hole again, but no matter, seeing as he had his own plans in mind, and even after he caught her. Again, he smiled at the thought of food.

“I’ll bet you that I will win this. I’ll get out of this alive. And you’ll have lost to a woman.”

He flinched again, then gave her one of his coldest glares, but still, made no move to get up or anything, he acted calm, even though, like usual, his whole body screamed at him to change back into a dragon and be safe in that form, where nothing could really harm him, but he stayed in his human form.

“I bet that when I do win you’ll never be able to forget it. Here... You won’t want to forget my face.”

He stared at her long and hard, as she turned her face, and he grimaced in annoyance. Finally, he slowly stood to his feet, and looked down at her. He looked at the rock she held. "You talk too much." Was all he said, in a cool, calm voice, he then lifted his gaze, and a cruel smile played over his face. "And your a waste of my time." He said in a hiss. He was done taking insults from this wench. He gripped one of his longsword and pulled it out in one swift movement, and slashed it towards the womans neck.

She cast the spell on the rest of her body as soon as she saw him move. The stone dropped through her insubstantial hand and hit the ground with a clunk. It seemed to be the only sound she heard, everything else seemed muted, deaf, even with her heart pounding in her chest. Her green eyes were wide, surprise coursing through her veins, which annoyed her the most. She shouldn’t have been surprised by his lunge at her, she had taunted him into action but she hadn’t noticed his sword. Possibly because he had been a dragon a few moments before. She didn’t even know her breath had caught in her throat until she released it in a long drawn out exhale.

She returned to substantial form, surprising how easily it came to her now that she needed it. She remembered to keep her lower half in the other form, not wanting to find out what would happen if she solidified herself while inside a rock. Would her organs fill with rock? Would her body be squished between the particles? Millions of possibilities that rushed through her head and none that she would want to risk trying. She had no weapon. Her dagger had plummeted from her body when she had first changed into this form. So he was armed and she had nothing. She didn’t doubt he would fight an unarmed opponent either. What she should be worrying about is how to outsmart him. How to make him leave her alone so she could live.

She picked up the rock that had fallen and threw it at him. “You’re a cheap fighter,” After she said this she pulled her insubstantial lower half up and out of the rock before she solidified it and was crouching on the rock now. She needed to do something fast, something to just discourage him from chasing her anymore so that she could leave. It rushed through her head as she was pulling herself out and the second her feet rested on the rock she wasted no time in putting her plan into action.

She lunged.

Her feet propelled her body forward towards the dragon-man. Her arms had opened into what would look like a lover’s embrace had it not been moving forward at an alarming speed. Lilith didn’t bother with opening her wings, they would only slow her momentum. She intended to tackle the man and get out of this with a simple struggle that would somehow slow the man or discourage him.

She just needed one thing. Just needed to remember one thing:

Don’t let him get that sword.

His weapon slashed through the air since she had ducked down through the rock again, and he snarled in anger, eyes blazing with annoyance. He lowered his weapon, and took to pacing in front of the rock, waiting, and waiting, till she did come back up, and this time, picked up another rock, and threw it at him and called him a cheap fighter, and he decided he could careless. As long as he gets what he was after, he would be happy. He held his sword close, and his gripped tightened on the ice cold handle.

Suddenly, the woman lunged and tackled him to the ground, which he had not anticipated. His sword fell from his hand, and he hit the ground hard. He gasped out in surprise from that, and his eyes widened with panic of not being safe in his dragon form, which also angered him a bit more.

He struggled to reach his sword he had dropped, but it was just out of reach. He turned his icy gaze on Lilith, and tried to push her off him and away. He muttered a strange word under his breath, and his hand was suddenly freezing and he grabbed the girl arm in a tight grip, his hand seemed to grow colder and more ice like the longer he gripped her arm.

He hoped it would somewhat take her be surprised, and so he gripped her shoulder with his other hand, and pushed her off him, then he struggled to his feet, but he was still slightly unsteady from the fall, but he had enough balance for now. He then gripped his second sword, and pulled it from its scabbard. An angered look twisted on his face.

"Foolish human..." He hissed.

The pair rolled on the ground, each struggling for a grasp on the other, each trying to get the other on the defensive. She pushed at his wrists and tried to pin him against the ground but even so it proved fruitless, she wasn’t weak but this was a dragon in human form and she had no doubt of his strength. He pushed back. Lilith felt his fingers wrap around her arm but she paid it little attention.

Until...Cold seeped into her flesh and his fingers were like icy against her bare skin. She bit back a yelp as the cold hit her bones. She could feel her body pull away from it with everything it had. She fought against the cold, gritting her teeth knowing that if she gave up she would die. But then he pushed her off him. She’d been too focused on the cold, on the pain. Damn.

As he struggled to his feet Lilith scrambled over to his sword on the ground, intent on not letting him get it. Perhaps she’d finally have the upper hand; perhaps she’d have a chance now. But...He pulled out a second sword and Lilith’s demeanour went cold, her gaze hard, and her body into a battle stance. She had no answer for him, not really.

Instead she spit on the ground between them and moved his icy blade into a defensive position, all the while her mind worked to find a way out of all this. An escape.

Feirste regained his balance and slid easily into a fighters stance. His cold eyes glimmering with glee at hopefully being about to take his food down. He smiled in a strange playful like smile. He didn't want to make her bleed or anything, that would just ruin it, well, not to make her die bleeding to much, so he might as well have fun with this. Maybe taunt her a bit. He twirled his sword between his fingers, eyes looking at his ice blade that the woman now held, and he didn't quite like how she was going to fight with it, she might figure out how to trigger the powers it had, and that wouldn't be fun for him, even if he was a white dragon and played with ice magic and the such, sure ice things against him didn't harm him as much, but sometimes the cold could get a little over bearing.

"I wonder now, how long this will take for me to defeat you. You obviously know how to fight with a sword, but how good are you?" He asked, hissing, and smiled again. A wind blew through, and Feirste's white hair blew around his face.

He stopped twirling his blade, then jumped forward, and lunged his blade forward, which seemed tinted blue, and looked icy. If his blades hit skin, then it could cause frostbite. That was one thing he always loved about the ice, it could be destructive to one, if you knew how to use it. It could ruin someones arm with frostbite, or worse. He wondered what it was like, for his victims to be killed by ice. How frightening that most be for them. He smiled, this time, a near crazy, sadistic smile.

Lilith gazed around her, keeping herself well aware of where Feirste rested between her. She was hoping it wouldn’t come to a sword battle between the two of them, she had hoped that she would be able to slip away. Though no real escape came to her mind and so she stopped her hopeless search for one and fixed her gaze on her opponent.

“I’m good enough to get out of this alive, and then hopefully be spared from seeing your face ever again.” She tested the weight of her sword once then held it back in place, it was all she had time to do. Then he lunged at her.

She held the sword out flat, the hilt in one hand and the flat edge resting in her other palm. Feiste’s sword hit the metal with a clang, a ring, and Lilith took a step back after impact. She pushed his sword away from her and caught the grin he posed. Her eyes became slits and she jabbed the sword towards Feiste’s stomach.

He heard her speak and couldn't help but agree, though he didn't say it out loud, merely in his head. Non of this prey gave this much of a fight up, he wasn't really used to it. He smiled slightly, as the swords clashed. He then puled away, and jumped back a step as she jab at him, and he used his sword to knock hers away from getting him, then he slid over to the side, and brought his sword up in a under cut, the sword tip nearly touching the ground as it slid up to her side.

If she did get out of this alive, then he did hope he would never, ever run into her again, she was a nuisance, and he despised her for putting up such a fight, he wished she would just be terrified of him, and frozen with fear so he could just eat her as he had planned. He would just give up, but that would then seem pointless, and the red dragon would taunt and mock him about that and he didn't want something else to let Jade to be just cruel to him.

"I can assure you, that you would never have to worry about seeing me, ever again." He mumbled under his breath as he attacked.

Lilith danced out of the way of his blade. She slashed her blade towards Feirste’s chest, trying a small fake out to see how Feirste would respond to it. Halfway through the move Lilith pulled short and spun the other way, dropping down on her knees as the blade swung for Feirste’s legs. Lilith prayed it would at least scratch him, he had done much worse to her.

As she thought of that her wings began to ache, even as she hid them with a small spell. They weren’t gone and so the pain remained. She could feel her hands shaking with exhaustion and her body shivered with a fake chill. Lilith was breathing heavily but trying to hide it, the last thing she wanted was for Feirste to notice just how tired she was.

Thankfully she had a bit of a plan. As soon as she could, as soon as she was able to knock Feirste back, then she could follow through. Lilith planned to somehow make sure that Feirste couldn’t follow her and then fly off. It didn’t sound very complicated but it would be harder than it sounded to make it work well enough for an escape. If they continued to fight like this Lilith wasn’t sure if she’d be able to win.
