| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Lilith moved her body along the rocky outcroppings. She had been moving for several hours and now found herself on a small ledge that snaked along one of the Dragon Spine Mountains. She had started up the mountains as a challenge to reach the very top, to stand and look out over Imythess, to sit and drink in the sights, to be alone... very, very alone. Now she was regretting not finding someone to accompany her. She didn’t know much about the mountains and the feeling of danger loomed over her head like a rain cloud. She knew in her core that something... wasn’t right. She looked behind her, the way she had come, the path had disappeared completely from view and only the tiny ledge she now stood on stretched out in that direction. The forward facing path looked the most promising. It widened a few inches, she only needed to make it about 10 more feet and she wouldn’t have to keep her back to the rocky wall. Lilith shimmied along the edge, her movement sending small rocks tumbling to the ground below. Lilith risked a glance over the edge. All she could see were more rocky outcrops of the mountains, jagged rocks that would probably impale her if she were to slid down now. The thought of falling was enough to make her shimmy just a little faster along the edge. She closed her eyes and went by touch alone for a moment, and then she felt the ground below her become wider. She opened one eye and saw she had made it to the wider area of rock. A sense of relief washed over her and she smiled. She stretched out her legs and arms before she started around the corner. Only to be greeted by another narrow ledge. Lilith’s mood plummeted. She didn’t want to have to shimmy along anymore, but she was too far now to go back. She slammed a foot down in frustration and it made contact with the earth in an audible thud! But the ground didn’t stop shaking after the initial impact. Lilith was almost knocked to the ground by the ferocity of the mountain. She backed up against the wall, pressing her body as close to the rock as she could, praying that it would be enough to keep her upright until the earthquake had passed. Problem was... it wasn’t an earthquake. The first few rocks were small and they whizzed by her head and hit the ground with little pings. One landed on her head and she closed her eyes against the pain. She touched her forehead where it had made contact and when she brought her fingers away they had coated with a crimson liquid. Great! Just wonderful! It was only a scratch but head wounds were wont to bleed twice as much as any other. Lilith risked a glance upwards and the first medium sized boulder missed her by a hair. She sucked in her breath and held it there, the earth shaking violently and rocks hailing from the sky. Lilith looked both ways and found she had no where to go, no chance to escape. Then the big rocks started to fall, bouncing off the side of the mountains and tumbling towards Lilith’s small outcrop. |

Feirste normally slept very deeply, unless something hard hit him in the side, and then hit his tail, and nearly smashing it. His icy blue eyes snapped open, and he lifted his head groggily, and looked about, right then a rock fell on his snout, and made him groan in pain and anger. He lifted a clawed foot and put it on his snout, then he look a glance up, and saw more rocks falling towards him. His eyes widened and the white dragon scrambled to his feet and ran to the edge of the large ledge he slept on and then he jumped from it, and into the air. He beat his wings and gained more height and flew away from the mountains, then he circled around, watching the mountain, and the rocks falling. And from here, he noticed person there, but he could hardly tell, since he was colorblind, but he was sure someone was there. He continued to fly in circles, wondering how long the rock slide would last. He wondered why someone would want to come out here, but his thoughts didn't stay on that long, as he decided he should go hunt for some food. Since leaving the frozen north, food was much more easier to come by, but it didn't come frozen, much to Feirste's displeasure. His gaze went back to the person there, and thought he could just snatch the person up and eat it, or entertain himself with watching the foolish creature. Basically letting his stupidity lead him, he flew towards the mountain again. When near, a rock fell and hit his left wing. The rock was large, and it made his wing ache terribly, and it made him fall. He crashed down into the mountain side, and he started sliding down. He dug his claws into the mountain, and his falling stopped. He then started scaling up the mountain face, trying very hard not to fall, even though, his claws now hurt, he wasn't used to this type of work. He soon made it to the ledge the human was on, and he lifted his head up, and glared at the person, and noticed it was a woman. He climbed up more, and stared at her, just as more rocks fell and hit his head and neck. He roared in pain and, fear seemed to edge into his icy eyes. "You humans cause to much trouble." He snapped, then reached out a claw to grab the girl. He wasn't going to back out now, not since he put some much effort in getting back to the mountain, sides, he now blamed it on the woman that he got hurt from the rocks. |

The first large boulder missed her, but only by inches. It smashed into the outcropping and shook the ground before bouncing over the side and continuing its tumble. It had become hard for Lilith to remain on her feet, and a few times the overzealous shaking of the earth made her want to fall to her knees. Even with her legs trembling she managed to stay upright by pushing her body hard into the wall behind her. Another small rock whizzed by her ear and struck her in the shoulder. She bit her lip against the pain of it when another one hit her in the back of the head causing her to bite down. Blood trickled from her lip and she quickly licked it away tasting cooper. Lilith barely noticed the dragon until he was right beside her. The giant beast startled her and caused her to move back a few inches. A boulder smashed where she had just been and caused another great rumbled which shook more rocks free. That might have explained why just at that moment more rocks pelted the poor dragon. The roar that escaped his lips made Lilith covered her ears, losing her grip on the wall. The shaking earth made her struggled to stand, moving in odd patterns with her feet. "You humans cause to much trouble." She glared at the dragon then. It wasn’t like she had done anything but explore. More rocks hailed down and when she blinked away blood she remember the cut she had gotten on her head. She rubbed the blood away so she could see again, and once she could a giant claw was reaching out for her. She didn’t know if she should trust the dragon who had just called her trouble, but then again... A rock hit the ground beside her and made up her mind for her. She stumbled over to the dragon, swaying madly on her feet, trying to just make it close to the claw. When she was close enough she fell onto the claw wrapping her body around it and making sure that when the dragon moved she wouldn’t be tossed onto the rocks below. How did she even know if she could trust this dragon? It didn’t matter though because if she stayed here she’d die, or worse. “We’re not that bad,” She said and held on as tight as she could when a rock hit her in the head and she stumbled and passed out. |

The white dragon continued to reach for her, but stopped when she started stumbling forward. He watched, and a slight smile slipped onto his draconic face. She got close, and hung on to the claw. Feirste slowly closed his clawed foot around her, gently enough not to squeeze her too tight, but enough so she wouldn't fall out. He lowered his head slightly, then to the left, just as more rocks fell. He moved his clawed foot that held the girl away from the rocks, so she wouldn't die from all the rocks. He spread his wings again and ran over to the edge and jumped. His wings ached from being hurt, but he ignored that as best he could, though it was hard for him too, it reminded him of the time Jade tore his wings to shred, it took a near whole year for them to mend, now his wings had large scars on them. His huge body shuddered as he remembered how scared he had been. He pushed those thoughts from his mind, as he flew towards the ground. He let himself glide down most of the way, then he flew in circles as he lowered. After a while, his feet touched the ground and he relaxed his wing muscles, and folded them. He laid the woman down on the somewhat hard ground, then looked up towards the mountains. He had flown far enough so none of the rocks would reach them. A smile slipped onto his face again. He turned to look at the woman, and wondered how long she'd be out for. He laid down, and relaxed, and took in a deep breath, then breathed out. Even though it wasn't that could out, his breath came out in a cloud of cold air, his breath was freezing, and a thin layer of frost went on the ground in front of him, and over the girl. He had his gaze on her intently, the iciness seemed slightly curious, but they slowly grew bored and hungry. He should just freeze her now, and eat her, but he was curious as to how this one acted, he always liked to see how his food acted, it sometimes made him laugh. |

She awoke with a shiver, her whole body was now gooseflesh. She sat up in a flash and her head spun. Her vision blurred for a moment before it settled onto a giant white dragon looking through glassy eyes at her. She wrapped her arms around her body and shivered once more, before she tried to stand up. Her head protested with a throbbing that made her flinch. It came back to her slowly. Once she looked up at the mountain she remembered the rock slide and the dragon’s claws. “Ugg...” She touched her head to find the cuts, the blood had clotted, probably from the dragon’s freezing breath. “Thank you,” She said to the dragon. She wasn’t sure what to do now, or even where she was, and she could still see the images of rocks rolling down. She wouldn’t risk flying away yet and so she seemed to be stuck here with this dragon that regarded her in a way she didn’t like at all. She hid her discomfort and tried to distract herself from those eyes by looking elsewhere. She noticed the scars on his wings. “How’d that happen?” She knew he spoke since he had called her... trouble before. She had forgotten she was still offended by that. “And hey it’s not like I caused the damn mountain to come tumbling down,” She remembered smashing her foot into the mountain just before the rock slide but she decided that she wouldn’t mention that. Better he didn’t know it might have been her. Besides his gaze was still very, very unsettling. Her head was freezing... why? She ran her fingers through her hair and pulled out... ice? Why was there ice in her hair? She looked at the dragon again and wondered for a moment if he had been the cause of it. It was a warm day, winter fleeting faster by the hour, and yet she had ice in her hair. She walked in front of the dragon, positioning herself carefully in front of one of his nostrils. When he breathed out an icy wind hit her skin, and she shivered and moved away. So it was him who had frozen her hair. “You an ice dragon or something?” |

Feirste continued to regard her with his icy gaze. His hunger growing by the minute. He ran his tongue over his teeth, as his smile returned. He watched her get up, and he cocked his head slightly. He stayed silent, even when she said thank-you. He hated talking when he didn't have to, it... annoyed him. He crossed his left leg over his right, and breathed out another cold breath of freezing air. “How’d that happen?” He shrugged, but didn't say anything, his eyes just grew slightly fearful, then angry, then back to its hungry stare. He flapped his wings gently, then folded them against his scaly side again. The sun glinted off his brilliant white scales, making an almost blinding light, till a cloud passed over the sun. “And hey it’s not like I caused the damn mountain to come tumbling down,” "As far as I'm concerned, you did cause it, I see no one else who could have." Feirste said, his voice made the ground seem to rumble. Sure, she may not of caused it, but he wanted to blame someone, if there was no one to blame, then that might drive him a little crazy, he hates it when something ruins his sleep and there is no one to blame, so, since she was around, he would blame her. He watched her come closer to feel his breath, probably to see if he did cause the ice. “You an ice dragon or something?” He gave his head a light shake. "No. I'm a white dragon, but you could call me a ice dragon. MY race comes from the frozen north." He said. He didn't mind telling her anything, he was slightly bored, and hungry, she wouldn't live long, so he didn't worry himself of telling her too much. "I'm surprised your not running... Normally my food always tries to run." He said lightly, and absent mindly, then he gave one of his weird dragon smiles. |

When her first two questions were greeted only with silence Lilith fidgeted, unsure what she should be doing now. He had saved her from the tumbling rocks and yet he would not talk to her, just regard her with those disturbing eyes. When his voice finally rumbled at her retort that it wasn’t her fault. It made her a little more nervous at his answer since she almost believed she had cause the rockslide, but he couldn’t have possibly known that. Could he? She’d never met a dragon in her life and so she was unaware of how they worked or if they spied on people and had good enough eyesight to see she stomp the ground. But then wouldn’t he have come earlier? He didn’t seem to be making a move to punish her for the action though so that calmed her a bit. “Oh,” She managed at his answer. But that was all she managed to get out before her blood ran cold with his next statement. That smile didn’t help matters at all. She backed away from the white dragon, but… she wasn’t moving. Her feet wouldn’t budge from the spot they were in even as her mind screamed at her and told her to get out of here and run, run anywhere. “You’re going to eat me?” She squeaked the words; embarrassed of her own voice and the trembling that gave her away. Then she stumbled back, like a miracle, her legs finally obeyed her commands. She was torn though if she should turn and run. Would he just claw at her back? How far was his reach? She contented herself with slowly backing away from him, hands reaching out behind her to feel if she backed herself into a corner. She carefully watched his claws to try and see if she could figure how far they could actually reach. Pretty far… would she be able to back up that far? She decided a few more feet and then she’d turn and run. One…Two…Three… She whirled around and darted across the ground in a dead run. She prayed, prayed he wouldn’t be able to catch her on foot. But… She never knew. Her white wings snapped out and caught the wind as she ran. Two hard flaps and she was rising into the air. She thought this way she would have a better chance of getting away. If he was faster in the air she was smaller and able to squeeze between rocks and ledges. She flew higher and higher, she didn’t bother looking back to see if he was still on her tail. |

“You’re going to eat me?” His smile widened and his eyes seemed to gleam brighter with hunger. He didn't need to say anything to that, since she probably knew the answer to that, she would be lame if she didn't. He watched her stumble back, then as she started backing away. Slowly, he climbed to his feet lazily, and continued to watch her. Suddenly, she turned around and ran, he watched her, letting her get a head start, he could catch up easily. Then the woman flew into the sky. He cocked his head slightly, he had been too busy thinking of food, he didn't bother himself to look for wings. He spread his mighty wings again, and took a running start, then jumped into the air, and towards the woman. His wings beat hard, making him go higher, and higher. Soon, he was right above the woman. He looked down at her, then he lowered slightly, and more, trying to force the person to go down. He knew she could hide in smaller place then he could reach, but at least he could fly faster with his stronger wings. He lowered his head and breathed out another frosty breath towards the woman, and wondered if it would freeze her white wings. It would be easier to catch her, but he was also fearful that if his breath did freeze the wings, it may break her body, and he hated eating broken bones, they always got stuck in between his dagger like teeth. "Curious now that you did run, since you seemed quite willing to fall in my claw." He said, but didn't give that much thought, he knew she had needed out of the mountain and he had the only way out. He beat his wings again. |

((XD)) Lilith only noticed he had flown above her when a shadow fell over her. She risked a glance upwards and saw that he had followed her into the air, but then again she had expected that. Her eyes desperately scanned for somewhere to duck into, somewhere that the beat couldn’t fit into. Just as she found the perfect crevice in the rocks the great dragon started to lower. The crevice slowly feel out of view as she was forced lower and lower. She quickly shifted her view to look for spaces lower to hide. A shiver ran over her body and her wings caught for a minute. With a violent thrash of her body they shook free of the thin layer of ice that had been created on them. Anymore of that breath and she would be plummeting towards the earth. Lilith shook the thought from her mind and tried to focus. She watched the small ice shards fall towards the ground, desperation growing by the second. "Curious now that you did run, since you seemed quite willing to fall in my claw." “That was before you went on your little hunger-killing spree.” She had to act fast. Do something to distract him even if it was for a moment. She flew, beating her wings hard, but it became clear that she couldn’t possibly outrun him. He was forcing her closer to the ground as well, less places to hide, less room to escape. “Well I am running and you’ll have to catch me!” With that Lilith flipped upside down and delivered a kick to the dragon’s underbelly, unsure if that would even hurt him. She hoped he would at least feel it and be surprised. Then she folded in her wings and dropped towards the ground. It came up fast, faster than she had been expected. She dared not to close her eyes for then she might not be able to see when she had to snap her wings open again. Her hope was that he would follow her down here. Then maybe she’d have a chance to get by him. A cliff wall came up and Lilith snapped her wings open, pulling up so she ran upwards along the wall for a few seconds before she pushed off in the other direction. She rolled her body so that she was flipped the right way and tried desperately to gain some height and get over the mountain tops. |

“That was before you went on your little hunger-killing spree.” "You should have expected it, unless you know nothing of dragons." He said, slowly getting annoyed. He continued to lower himself, and continued to force her down. He was a little happy that he seemed to be winning right now, and he liked wining, when he lost, that often meant he'll get hurt more, and just get into trouble, like the time he had gotten in trouble with Jade. He narrowed his gaze a moment, getting lost in his thoughts, and nearly forgot the woman, until her voice reached him again. “Well I am running and you’ll have to catch me!” He wasn't going to answer to that, and he didn't have to, for the girl decided to try and kick his underbelly. He let out a hiss of annoyance, and a little pain feeling with through him. He was such a wimp to little attacks that didn't really even hurt, it was quite sad, and he was glad no one was there, like an audience, or a red dragon, a red dragon would surely laugh. He looked at the girl, as she fell towards the ground fast, and he followed, though, probably more slower then she would probably anticipated. He lowered closer, in a lazy manner, and was near the ground when suddenly the human went up again and around him. He growled in frustration? Why did he mention anything about dinner? He cursed himself angrily, and before he could pull himself up, his feet touched the ground. He crouched down low, then jumped up, pushing himself up with his strong back legs, and he was once more in the air. He beat his wings harder to go faster to the girl. He looked up now, trying to find the girl again, then he saw her, to his colorblind eyes, she looked light gray with her white wings, it was hard to see her, among the light mountains, but he rushed towards her, then sucked in a deep breath, and breathed out, this time, you could see the frost moving towards the girl, it was a stronger breath then what he had done before. |

The icy blast hit her with more force that she expected. When had he gotten so close? Bits of her golden hair froze and the dress she wore was stiff. That, however was the very least of her worries. She was falling again and this time not by her own design. She desperately shook her body trying to dislodge the ice that had built up on her feathers. If she hit the ground there was no chance of survival for her. Now she wished she had some sort of fire spell to use to thaw her wings. She caught a glimpse of another straight wall. “This will hurt,” She plummeted towards it and straightened out so her back was to the wall and then she flung herself into it, not hard enough to knock her out but hard enough to break the ice that had built up. She bit back a howl of pain as ice and feathers scrapped off her wings. She kicked off with her feet again and found her wings could move once more. A second look at the wall would reveal a blood streak from where she had been. Her wings ached and her head reeled with the pain. She flew in odd patterns in the same place, obviously disoriented. Lazily she beat her wings to go higher, pain shot through her body and her closed her eyes against the pain. Lilith shook it off as best she could and climbed higher again, trying to ignore the pain and the blood she felt dripping from her feathers. She was looking very bad at the moment, this dragon had better not caused her any scars or if she got out of this alive she’d bring a patrol into these mountains to slay the stupid thing. She looked for anything that could help her... anything at all but she was so lightheaded. She saw something that could buy her a bit of time, a small gap between the rock wall. She could fit through and the dragon would have to fly over top to get at her. She took it and dove through, taking the spare time she had to check her wounds and watch the sky. She needed a plan. Something to get away from this monster once and for all. It wasn’t as though she could just beat him with the small dagger as her only weapon. The only other thing she had was her spell... she would have to find a way to use that to escape or confuse. Something to help her live...anything to help her live. |

When his frost hit her, he smiled, then folded his wings and dropped towards the ground, underneath the woman, his eyes grew hungrier with every passing second, and he was starting to go crazy if he didn't catch her soon, sure, it was fun for a little while, now it was just plain annoying, especially to have a prey that had wings! He hadn't anticipated that, and it absolutely frustrated him. He looked up, watching her fall, then she did something else he didn't expect, she rammed her back against the wall, the ice he had on her broke and fell towards him, getting his scales wet. He glared through his icy gaze. He flapped his wings with much more powerful beatings and gained height better and faster. He was right behind her when she dived in the crack. He stopped there, and peered into it, and saw her. He growled angrily, then flew away from the crack, and circled in the air, his eyes now blazing with anger. He then flew around where she hid, and looked for an opening, there was one at the top, but he wasn't able to reach a claw down to get her. He snarled in anger again, then thought of a plan. He would have to lure her out, or force her out. He breathed in deeply, and more frost blew out, and hit a spot near the girl, he breathed again, and shot more frost out, and that hit closer. Hopefully, it would make her get out of the crack, but she may have a plan already, but he would just be ready for that. Feirste would just have to be patience for this snack, or if he got too impatient, he would go find easier prey, but he would have to do that anyway, this human would only fill him up a little, enough to last him till he got better stuff, like whale. His mouth seemed to water at that, and his next breath of frost seemed colder, and if it hit bare skin it would seem to sting more. |

Lilith gazed around her, trying to figure out just what she should do to get herself out of this situation. Or why he wanted to eat her!? She sighed and went over her options, none of them very good. She could try to out fly him but there were several thing wrong with that, least of all her bloodied wings and the fact that he was a dragon. Talking him out of it didn’t seem like much of an option either since he seemed very intent on devouring her at the moment. Lilith ran a hand through her golden hair and wracked her brain for anything she could possibly do to get him off her back and to find food elsewhere. The best option seemed to be to wait him out in here. Then there was a small blast of frost near her. Lilith shivered and looked up to see the dragon peering down at her. Another blast. She moved a little farther away. Then a stronger blast. She wouldn’t last in here. She really needed something that would help her get out of this situation. She focused hard and reached out to touch the rock wall as she walked towards the entrance. Without noticing it she unconsciously made her hand and arm go insubstantial and moved through the solid rock. She pulled out her hand and gazed at it before she turned in back to normal. She studied it for a while. This might work to her advantage but she wasn’t sure just how to put it to use. “Why don’t you just leave me alone?” She yelled up to the dragon. She shimmied closer to the edge before she stuck a foot out into the open air. It was a long drop and her wings probably wouldn’t hold out much longer. She’d have to bring the struggle closer to the ground so that if she dropped it wouldn’t be as bad... bad still, but not as. She flung herself out the crack and opened her wings right away unsure if they could catch the wind if she snapped them open. She glided closer towards the ground and looked for a place where she could finally put her plan into action and get this dragon away from her for good. |

He kept his gaze on her, as he breathed out more frost. His felt his frost getting slightly weaker, when he catches his prey, then he would have to rest his breath weapon before he started using it again. He watched even when her hand slid through the rock, but he merely thought his eyes had played tricks on him, since they always did, so he didn't pay much attention to that. Then he smiled slightly as he watched her edge out. His plan was working, now he would have to just go fast to catch her right when she gets out. “Why don’t you just leave me alone?” He paused in his frost breathing, and thought over that moment. Why didn't he just leave her alone, sure, she was going to be his snack, but there was much easier prey out there. He looked at her, almost as if it was obvious. "Because I'm hungry. And I've put too much effort in getting you to give up." He said, like it was completely obvious. "And you look like you'd be a delicious snack." He said, and grin slightly, well, as best a dragon could, and as he did, more of his sharp dagger like teeth showed, but it was soon gone. She then flung herself out of the crack, like he had hoped. He ran from where he was and to the edge, and dived from it, and towards her. When he was just a few feet from her, he snapped at her with his sharp teeth, making a loud 'chomp' noise as his teeth closed. His eyes gleamed brighter, and he thought of how good she would taste, and his mouth watered. He liked the many flavors a human could have, like many of the animals too, but he had to say whales were the best food ever. ((Sorry its not that big... >.<)) |

She couldn’t argue with that. Lilith was sure that she did look delicious but that didn’t stop her from not wanting to be eaten. Besides she should have some sort of choice in the manner of her own death… and this was not the way she was hoping to go. Lilith had an odd idea of death though which suited only her own needs, and right now this dragon was messing up her own carefully laid plans. She contemplated this in a split second, shorter than it would ever take to read, write, or speak the same idea, before she flung herself out of the crack. He was on her in an instance. She couldn’t blame him, she supposed she gave more of a fight than most of his prey, but she wasn’t done fighting yet. His jaws slammed shut and his teeth were too close for comfort. She didn’t like the way this was going. He wanted to eat her fast, and she wanted to get away from him fast! It seemed like a frenzy now, nothing really thought out or planned in the pair’s struggle to gain the advantage over the other. Then she saw it: the perfect thing to make him leave her alone for good. Jutting out of the earth was a slab of rock, probably nine inches thick, she wasn’t sure she couldn’t gain a good perspective of it. She lowered her body just a little bit so that she would hit the rock dead center with the dragon close on her heels. She sped her flight; it seemed a flurry of blood and feathers as she moved in her final attempt. If this failed she would surely be eaten, she would surely die here with this hungry dragon. Not a death she wanted at all! At the last possible second she activated Gaseous Form on her whole body. It was a strain to keep the spell in place for she had little practice using it and she body didn’t seem strong enough yet to hold her body for long. Her head passed through the rock, followed by her wings and torso. She had to hold in a bit longer. Then her feet and she release the spell like a huge sigh. But her body was weak. Had it worked? |
