| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The world seemed to have shifted, changing somehow. When she woke she wasn't sure what it was at first. Then she realized she was lying on stone and it was rather uncomfortable. She pulled herself up. The world blurred and spun around her. A whimper escaped her as she held her head in her hands and squeezed her eyes shut. It took a few minutes for the feeling to go away. Then she rose to her feet and promptly hit her head on wooden planks above her. The loud thunk seemed to echo about her as she returned to the position she had been in. Ivory whimpered again as she then heard many loud thumping above her and voices rose asking what had happened. It was then that Ivory decided to go at it slower. She took a moment to get her bearings. It didn’t take her long to realize she was under the docks and that it appeared to be night. She could see lanterns reflecting off the water further out. She was also damp, and smelled of saltwater, and… “My things!” She realized she didn’t have her blade or her coins, or… Ivory ran her hands all around her in the dark. When her hands fell upon the small wooden case she sighed in relief. Her flute was still here. Carefully, the opened it and withdrew the instrument. It was fine. Thank goodness! She put it carefully away, tied the snapped strap together, and returned the case back around her neck. Ivory rose to her feet more carefully this time. She held her hand above her so she knew where the wooden planks were. Ivory made her way along the narrow strip of rocks below the docks until she came to their end. She was already damp, so she went ahead and waded into the water a bit. The sounds above seemed to have faded by the time she found her way out of under the docks. There wasn’t much light here either. “What now?” she demanded of the darkness around her as she stood still knee deep in the waves. |

"Boo." It would be a bit random, especially since she was out in the middle of the night, and especially since she had decided to go wading in the middle of the ocean, under a dock much less, in the middle of the night. She had decided to find her way out from under them, thank the Gods, but now she was simply standing there, looking like a drowned rat. "You look cold." The voice would come from a rather merry-looking individual who was now standing at the edge of the dock, booted feet held steady on the wooden boards, and arms crossed over his chest. He was impatiently tapping one of his fingers, over and over again, in a steady rhythem that he had adapted as a nervous habit. He wasn't really nervous at the moment, but as many knew, nervous habits would tend to arise about any time they wanted. Much like biting fingernails, or tapping feet. Ah, there went his foot. It was tapping now, too. He was dressed in a dark top, a black leather vest that looked to have some kind of red frilly lace underneath. Black leather pants hung loosely from his legs, while a top hat sat above his head. He had stark white hair, not the white hair of an old man, but the white hair of someone who had achieved it by some other means. This was pure, clean white. Not grayish white. In one hand, the one that wasn't tapping, he held a card. A single playing card, which looked to be an Ace, from the looks of it. On the ground, at his feet, what looked to be a cloak simply sat there. Another interesting feature, on his hip, held by a leather belt, was a mask. A simple white mask, one that only had eyeslits, and a cruel smiling mouth drawn onto it. It was black and blue, and gave off a very uneasy feeling. Every now and then, he would wander a hand down to it, giving it a light tap before going back to his former stance. "What are you doing in there?" |

Ivory jumped and spun about at the sound of a voice. Her cursed sight saw no one and was not helping her at all. She stood there for a moment. There was a steady tapping from the edge of the dock. Ivory blinked. It was just gray mist. Something and nothing all at once… It was then she remembered that looking at someone never helped her see them. Instead, she had to look past them. Ivory shifted her gaze so that she was looking past him. Slowly the shape of a person emerged in the form of a silhouette. With it being as dark as it was she wasn’t sure if she would get much more detail thin that. What was she doing here? Standing knee deep in the ocean with damp clothing and a few bruises starting to show on her albino skin, looking much worse then they would on someone else. Ivory hadn’t noticed them yet though. She couldn’t see herself at all. She couldn’t see the marks left by someone’s fingers on both her arms. She narrowed her cursed eyes and tried to see some sort of detail about the person even as she was looking past him. It didn’t seem to help much. Frustrated, she sighed and gave up. Then she gave a half-hearted shrug. “I have no idea actually. I’m still in Taras aren’t I?” Ivory seemed more annoyed then lost with the tone she used. |

For a brief moment, his foot would tap even faster then it already was, but it would soon slow to a halt. Suddenly, without any warning at all, he would kneel a little bit, and then proceed to kick the surface of the water. A small little splash of water would fly in her direction, and he would straighten again, his arms still crossed and his foot tapping once again. He would absentmindedly flick the playing card into the air every now and then, and then catch it, only to repeat. "You should probably get out of the water. You might get sick. And, yes. You are still in Taras. I think." For a moment, his voice would seem a bit confused. He would look around, glancing at the sky and the buildings in both the distance and nearby, and then glance back at her. "Yes, yes you are." He sounded quite delighted that he had made this discovery. Odd fellow. She was hard to see, but he was still trying to gather details. The moon had been behind a cloud, but was now slowly drawing out, so eventually he would be able to make out her full details. He hadn't noted the bruises on her arms yet, but he had managed to notice that she wasn't seeming to... see him. She had a distant look in her eye, and appeared to keep struggling to actually locate his more detailed features. Eyes narrowing slightly, his hand would flick the Ace into the water, right near her. Would she notice that? |

A dark shape bounded over the wharfs and docks, as though looking for something or someone. Sniffing at the air, Taima sighs...not liking the way the night is going. Looking skyward for a brief moment, he runs...not even noticing the figures he is about to pass until he sees a card fly through the air, nearly cutting his nose. Growling at the nuisance, he looks around, then realizes what he looks like. Quickly moving out of the way, he leaps behind a building and reverts back to human form. Breathing deeply, he wonders if they will pursue, or put it up as a freak moment and carry on with their business. Peering around the corner, he readies himself to walk out as though just a normal person out for a stroll. |

Ivory was tempted to snap at this stranger when he said she should get out of the water or she might get sick. It wasn't her choice to be here with only her flute and the clothing on her back. For all she knew this was one of those to blame for her confusion. If she could just remember what had caused it. Her eyes lowered to where the water reached the beach. The waves reached up and pulled back and managed to cover her feet on sand. Perhaps she should just go into town and see if she could get a few coins or a bit of food. So far, this was not a pleasant venture. This man though… he didn't seem the type to do whatever had happened to her. Did he? He hadn't been sure where they were and he was the one without a pounding head. Ivory decided then that she might as well get out of the water. Then something caught her eye as it flew past and she stepped away from before it hit the water. Was that a card? What type of game was he playing? She saw it floating on the surface and picked it up. For a moment she saw the shape of her hand when it moved the water aside. She looked at the card, an ace, but then it was gone from her sight. Her life force, or whatever it was she couldn't see now, had obscured the card. She sighed and headed for the shore at the end of the dock. She wasn’t even bothering to try and look at him now. It wasn’t worth the effort to see the living anymore. Perhaps she should find a vampire or something to make her undead so she would at least be able to see herself. She picked up her now drenched skirts and took the steps up onto the dock. Ivory stopped when she made it to the top and let weight of the fabric fall back by her feet. Her shoes were squishing when she walked. The card was still in her hand, not moving about like it had when he had it. She wanted to change her wet clothing but she couldn’t even do that. So she paused there staring off in the distance in a halfhearted attempt to see him. It was then she realized why he was so hard to see. He seemed to be mostly dressed in black. His hair was white and something on his side was mostly white. He was rather noisy so she knew where he was without trying to look at him. Why did she keep trying to see people? It was so hard to do. |
