Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Hearing Kalix’s apology as he pressed her against his body made Enelya want to cry. Not because she was sad, but of how much he seemed to care about her. He had been angry because he was worried and Enelya returned his embrace before he let go of her. She nodded; it would have been better of her to notify him some way. She held his arms for a moment, reassuring him that she wasn’t harmed. “I’m okay, really.” Enelya offered Kalix a smile and patted his arms as she let go of them.

"Well, with what I understood from the other kids, it almost sounded as if Enelya had kidnapped this child. Jared, I believe?"

Enelya cocked her head to the side in confusion. “Kidnap? Oh no, Jared is Lylene’s son, and Crys had insisted he go home because of the fuming weather. He was very put out and so I decided to play a bit of tag with him so he’d forget about being mad about leaving.” Enelya nodded with a bright smile to show the innocence of it all.

As Enelya had turned to enter the house she started to rub her shoulders, starting to really feel the cold. The sky above her seemed to darken even more and Enelya did not want to be outside any longer. She hoped that Crys or Lylene would not mind having not only one new guest, but also another. Though, Enelya was happy to have Kalix back at her side. She was never conscious of what possible danger could be around her, but she always felt safe when he was around.

Jared climbed down from the stairs and seemed to look to Enelya in disappoint, confused as to why she stopped playing with him. She gave him a small rub to the head apologetically and he gave a small sigh, returning to his room. The cold seemed to instantly dissipate as Enelya entered this home. She gave a warm smile to Kalix as she looked over her shoulder to make sure he was still there. Though Enelya stood a little out of the doorway, waiting for Crys to show her the way. Enelya was really bad about ‘making herself at home.’ She wasn’t sure if they were going to go into the kitchen, sit in the living room, or something of that nature, so she waited for the invitation. “What a lovely home you have here, Crys!”

"Well, with what I understood from the other kids, it almost sounded as if Enelya had kidnapped this child. Jared, I believe?"

Crys couldn't help grinning, and then breaking out into a small laugh. Kidnap? Enelya did not seem the type to do so, and that would be absurd in a small town, but then, since she had just met Enelya, anything was possible, but Crys very muchly doubted at the woman would even do such a thing. She soon cut her laugh off, and cocked her head towards Enelya a moment when she spoke. She smiled.

"And Jared seemed to have had fun also. That boy is a little wild at times, and unfriendly, sometimes... I'm amazed he decided to play along, but then he just takesa liking to some people." She said, then looked at Kalix, when he spoke again. Inside, finally. She turned on her heel, and starting to the house once more, and got there quickly, and held the door open again for the two.

“What a lovely home you have here, Crys!”

Once more, she smiled. The house wasn't hers, but Lylene's, who had it for a long time. Crys merely rented out a part of it. She led the two to the sitting room, and then she slipped into the kitchen a moment, and noticed Lylene had started some stew on the fire. She stared at the large pot a moment, and noticed how there was more then Lylene should have made, which confused Crys a moment, Lylene always made only enough for herself and Crys and Jared. Shrugging, she left the kitchen, and went back into the sitting room.

"So, Kalix, where do you come from?" She said, though, she noticed he was a elf, and he looked to be wood elf to her, so, she assumed he would be from Norwood, but then, not all wood elves are from the forest. She Looked at Kalix a moment, before she sat down on a couch.

“I’m okay, really.”

It wasn't often his stern face was softened, but if it was going to happen, Enelya would be the one to do it. "Just... at least leave me a note next time, okay?" He had a pleading look about his eyes, another thing that never happened.

"...he just takesa liking to some people."

A corner of Kalix's mouth raised in a smile as he responded to Crys, but had his eyes on Enelya, "Yes, well... It's rather hard not to take a liking to this young lass, hm?" He ruffled Enelya's hair with a smirk before following the two into the home.

“What a lovely home you have here, Crys!”

Even though he might have only seen a couple house interiors in his entire lifespan, Kalix nodded if only to be polite. "Yes, very much so. How long did it take you and yours to come up with the money for it?" Even though he had a small hut in Norwood that he built himself and his parents had purchased their house long before Kalix was born, he knew homes could get very expensive.

Having been directed to the sitting room, Kalix looked around a moment for a sofa to sit on. If this family had anyone like his father, Kalix knew better than to take a chair, lest it be special to someone in particular. Eyeing one of the sofa's, he held out a hand to offer Enelya a seat before he would take his beside her. As he sat, his posture would be disturbingly proper with his hands in his lap.

"So, Kalix, where do you come from?"

Kalix opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again. He wasn't one to talk about neither his adventures before settling down in Norwood forest nor his family as both seemed to acquire never-ending questions; and from what Kalix understood, humans had no way of telling how old elves are from appearances, so all Kalix had to say was, "My home is in Norwood Forest. Beautiful place..." He would nod beside him to Enelya, "And it gave me the chance to meet this fine individual," and he would end with a smile.

"Just... at least leave me a note next time, okay?"

Enelya nodded, taking in a breath to make sure that Kalix understood that she did not want to send him through such a fit like that again. She felt so guilty about it; she hated making him worry. Though, Enelya thought that Kalix should probably loosen his stress levels… “I’ll be more conscious of it next time…” His face seemed to soften, which made Enelya’s eyes light up. A big smile creased her face and she looked as if she were about to burst into laughter. However, his pleading eyes kept her silent.

"Yes, well... It's rather hard not to take a liking to this young lass, hm?"

The plant lady blushed, the red tones of her flush mixing with the slight green pigments of her skin producing a lovely magenta around her cheeks. Her neck bobbed down as Kalix ruffled her hair. She gave him a playful look, as she ran her fingers through her blue locks, coming across a stick or a leaf every now and again. One particular stick had a large thorn that ended up poking her finger. She jumped slightly, trying to tug it out of her hair, and then sticking her bleeding finger into her mouth subtly. “Kalix…?” She pointed pathetically at her head, wanting the stupid thorn stick out of her hair.

Once inside, Enelya wandered around the quaint living room, looking at the pictures on the walls, which had a cozy feeling to them, especially with the fireplace. She was instantly warmed, wandering around the room for a moment, but stopping as Kalix began to question Crys. Money didn’t really hold much value with Enelya, but it was a bit rude to ignore the conversation at hand. At least, that’s what she thought at the time. Then Kalix had offered Enelya a place to sit, which she took gratefully. She sat down, leaning against the headrest, a bit exhausted from running around with Jared, when there wasn’t much sun out. She let out a long yawn, covering her mouth with her hand. “Oh, excuse me…” She murmured. Enelya lay her head on Kalix’s stiff shoulder, wrapping her arms around his. “I hope you don’t mind… There wasn’t much sun out today…” She started to explain.

Though Enelya’s eyes were dangerously close to closing and not reopening, she listened to Kalix speak of Norwood. She really did miss the forest… For his ending sentence, Enelya’s smile matched Kalix’s and she squeezed the arm she was holding affectionately.

She watched Kalix and Enelya a moment, and a odd look crossed her face for a second, but it was covered up by another cheerful smile. She still didn't like the closeness of the two, it made the half-elf feel uncomfortable, and uneasy, though, there was no sign of that anywhere about her. She turned her gaze away, and at the fireplace. She looked up at Kalix again, when he spoke.

"Yes, very much so. How long did it take you and yours to come up with the money for it?"

She laughed once again, a cheerful, friendly laugh. "I didn't buy this place, I am merely renting a small room upstairs to stay. As payment to Lylene, I help with the farm chores. She has learned to trust me more, since I've been her for a few months, she doesn't mind I wandered the house, and let friends come." She said, smiling still. She stared at Kalix a moment, but when Enelya laid her head against his shoulder affectionately, she looked away at the fire again, and played with the pouch on her thin belt, the money inside jingled softly.

He came from Norwood, just like Enelya. She hummed softly, then looked at the two, and smiled. "As I've told Enelya, I wish to go back there sometime. I haven't been there for a long time. When I saw it, I found it also, very beautiful." She spoke softly. She loved Norwood, but she would never mention the complications she had there once, not to the people she had just met, though, she hoped to get to know them better, and would ask another question, but didn't want to ask too many questions, if she did, they may get uneasy, like she was with the way the two acted around each other.

Suddenly, the front door opened, and Lylene came in. She walked right into the sitting room, smiling very friendly like. She seemed to be in her late forties. Her hair was brown, with a little gray in it. Her eyes a dark blue. She wore a simple wool dress.

"Ahh, finally, I thought you'd get caught out in this horrid weather. The wind will be strong tonight, and the all the snow and ice." Lylene said. She seemed oddly strange to most, and she spoke as if she knew she was going to have two guests. "Well, where are my manners? I am Lylene Hulth. And it is a pleasure to have you here in my home." Lylene said still very friendly.

Crys smiled at Lylene. She knew Lylene was a odd one, mainly since losing her husband, but she still got along fine, and Crys even knew a secret no one did, except Jared, and it was: Lylene was a Seer, who can see the future, or past. Lylene had told Crys two months after she arrived in the womans household. Now Crys had just remembered, and now understood why there was more stew, it was for the two guests.

Kalix moved his arm out from under Enelya and propped it behind her so that her head was resting on the from of his shoulder and his hand was resting on the top of her head as if she was a small child or pet. He ruffled her hair a bit before grinning at his foolish assumption, "Oh, I apologize. If you've only been here a few months, where did you come from? Not Taras, I hope. Strait from busy streets to tending fields would be quite the change..." He had been in Taras before... not his favorite place, but it had it's usefulness.

"As I've told Enelya, I wish to go back there sometime. I haven't been there for a long time. When I saw it, I found it also, very beautiful."

Kalix nodded with a smile not on his lips, but definately in his eyes, "Then we'll have to take you by sometime. Not sure when it will be, but as soon as it happens, we'll be sure to stop by."

As the front door opened, Kalix's head immediately eyed the entrance to the sitting room. Even in this cozy house, he was still a tad jumpy. It was a shame he couldn't visit his usual lake to sooth his mind. He nodded respectfully to the older looking woman, and his ears heard something very interesting. She didn't seemed suprised in the least bit to find a wood elf and a living, breathing plant in her living room. After she introduced herself, Kalix nodded again with a, " My name is Kalix, and this sleepy thing is Enelya." He ruffled her hair again, hoping it would wake her up if Lylene's entrance didn't. "The pleasure is all ours."

Enelya shifted slightly as Kalix did so. Her energy was so low since the sun had not been out to allow photosynthesis within her body. She felt bad, for sleeping in Crys’ company, but she couldn’t help it. She heard Kalix’s voice rumble inside of him and it tickled Enelya’s cheek slightly. With her eyes closed, she let the voices of the two’s chatter soothe her fatigue. Her own chest rose and fell almost in sync with Kalix’s. Her dreams came quickly engulfing her with her inevitable slumber. Guilt was present, but not as bold as her need for sleep.

However, soon enough, she heard the door opening, and her eyes shot upon as she sat up, with a nudge from Kalix. She rubbed her eyes and looked sleepily out to a woman whom she gathered was Lylene. Enelya gave the woman a drowsy wave, and a friendly smile. “My… apologies, to all of you,” she whispered. Enelya tilted her head slightly. Lylene had a strange air about her that reminded Enelya of someone. Of who, she was not sure… But she struck her as very familiar. Enelya turned her head to Kalix, her eyes welling with confusion. Did he know who she was? Enelya presumed not, since she had never left Norwood before…

Snow and ice? Enelya sighed, snow and ice didn’t go well with her at all… She looked to Kalix worriedly, not thinking they would be able to make it out of the cottage before then. If they were going to leave, they wouldn’t have gotten far, unless Kalix had decided to carry Enelya; which, now that she thought about it, he probably would have if things had gotten to that. Enelya admired Kalix’s loyalty, even if she did not understand him. She was eternally grateful for his presence, both as a friend and a protector.

Lylene was so odd though… She seemed to predict the two’s fore coming. Though the bond shared between Lylene and Crys was wonderful to see. It was as if Lylene had adopted Crys, who at times, seemed as if she was a traveler herself, looking for shelter as well. Perhaps that’s what Lylene was good at; being a mother and all. Perhaps she spent her later days taking in lost travelers who’d lost their way, nurse them back to health, give them her love, and send them on their way to face the world if a new given gift. Enelya pondered on that for a moment, thinking she’d like to do that with her life as well… Helping random travelers needing a warm meal and a bed to sleep in and some direction in their lives.

Crys smiled a little, at how Enelya slept, but the half-elf didn't mind at all, those who were tired should get their rest, going about tired was never good for the body or anything. She turned her attention towards Kalix, when he spoke, and she smiled softly. "I am not from Taras, not even from Imythess, really, I come from a far off land, Trellasia, a beautiful city. I have always had experience with farm life and such, even though, I am from a family of higher birth, but I was the youngest, and never really fit in with the rest of the family, I mainly spent my time at the farm. Crys said, her voice calm and friendly. "Higher birth", of course, meant Nobles, though, she avoided saying the straight out word, not liking her royal blood.

She had never been treated as a noble either, because of her being a half-breed, but she didn't mind. Because of not fitting in or anything, her father had made Crys work on the farm, thinking her an entire disgrace amongst his family, even though, it was his fault he fell in love with a elf who dead a few minutes after Crys' birth.

She glanced at Lylene a moment. Only Lylene knew of her entire past, Crys didn't trust anyone enough to let them know her all the way through, not with what had happened to her the last time she tried to trust someone. She continued to watch Kalix a moment, even as he spoke again, and she merely smiled cheerfully at that, but before she could answer, Enelya seemed to have decided to get up.

"Well, the weather is quite frightful, I hope you don't plan going out there tonight, you should stay here for the tonight, and I promise that the weather will be nice and clear out for you, I hear the sun will also be out, but that is what Jared merely says." Lylene said, her eyes twinkling slightly, when she spoke of her son. "Dinner will be ready in a few minutes, dears, I don't want everyone to go starving." The woman said, then left to the kitchen, not even waiting for a reply from Enelya or Kalix.

Crys smirked.

"Lylene takes some getting used to. She always assumes people will be staying for a while, especially when weathers bad, or one is sick, or so on." Crsy said, shrugging lightly.
