| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Enelya took a deep breath, and entered the inn. She was scared, but she refused to share it. It was her first time in a city and this inn looked really busy. More people were crammed in this little building than populated her whole village! People smacked into her and she tried to apologize, but most were too drunk to notice or care. Enelya picked up the hem of her dark green dress to avoid dragging it through something wet on the floor. With her other hand, she tugged on the corners of her long beige sleeves of her blouse. This place made her nervous, and she worked her way into the back, and sat at an empty table. A few people sober enough to notice pointed at her lavender eyes, and long blue hair. It made her a bit uncomfortable, causing her to fold her arms and slouch in her chair. She twisted at her long locks, a few sticks falling out of her hair. A burly lady with folds upon folds of clothing approached her and asked if she’d like something to drink. Enelya shook her head, but managed to whisper, “where am I?” The woman grinned and muttered “Kellen, lass. You don’t get out much, do ya? Ya look ya damn well fell outta a tree and into this here inn!” She waddled away, laughing to herself. Enelya straightened her brown vest, and picked some plants out of her hair, becoming a bit self-conscious as people continued to stare at her. Enelya knew that her unnaturally colored hair and eyes made her look different, but besides that… Didn’t they know it was rude to stare? At this rate, she was ready to sink to the floor, and disappear. They would probably all crowd around her if she did so. Perhaps they’d even go as far as poking her with a stick. She didn’t stare at them, why did they have to stare at her? Enelya sighed, and rushed out of the inn. What was the point of going in there anyways? She leaned against the side of the building and hummed to herself. It was silly, but it always relaxed her when she was nervous. “It’s good to be different, right?” |

The Green Gryphon Inn of Kellen was something of a marvel. The bottom floor was like most inns in that it had a large bar, and tables and chairs all over the place, but there the similarity ended. It seemed whoever had last rebuilt the place had known of most adventurer's wants to have their backs to a corner, so the place was anything but square. Zorgn had not taken the time to fully explore the dimly lit confines of the common room, but he was sure that a score of people could comfortably sit with their backs to a corner. Zorgn was unconcerned with the design makeover of his favorite alehouse. He hadn't been up for very long, and his main goal was to get roaring drunk before he had to stagger out to find a place to sleep off the drink. "Barkeep, another one please. Thanks, that'll do fine." Zorgn was sitting down at his empty table when a very unusual person entered the inn. Plants in her hair, a sort of lost look about her, she was not the type Zorgn would've expected to see in the Green Gryphon. But then in a hurry she left. Why did she go? For what reason did she enter and then leave? Zorgn shook his head and began working on his latest ale. It was none of his business what the others did. |

Marinias sighed. Things were not going well. He had the spells he needed, but now he couldn't locate the vampire he was after, this Thunder. He grimaced, and shook his head. He was in Kellen once more, heading again for the Green Gryphon, the location of a very painful memory, from which he still bore a few scars. One was a very distinctive one, sealing his right eye almost completely shut. His sword was in a new leather scabbard across his back, and the medallion he had been given by Faust was still around his neck. His bow was across his other shoulder, and his quiver of arrows was strapped to his waist. He spied the young lady come darting out of the Green Gryphon and lean against the wall, and he raised an eyebrow. There was something about her that sort of... drew him... for some reason... He walked over, his quiver slapping softly against his leg as he did. "Something wrong miss?" he asked, the sound of the wind in the leaves behind his voice, IN his voice. His slacks were a deep ruddy brown, the color of rich earth, and his tunic was forest green. The medallion glittered, moreso than it should have in the small amount of light at the moment. |

"Something wrong miss?" A young man had approached her, and Enelya felt herself freeze up. He looked like he was savvy in the ways of the forest, but he looked vicious, as well. Life can do that to people. She wanted to reach out, and heal his scar, but that was not her place. Especially since he had just spoken three words to her. She looked down at her boots, which dug into the soil. “I…” Her fingers clenched and unclenched into fists as she fidgeted. “I’m fine.” She muttered, with a poor attempt at a smile. What was she doing here anyways? She did not belong in a city. She belonged in the forest, climbing a tree, conversing with a deer, assisting her beloved tree sprites… However, that life was over now. She felt silly, but she looked up at the man and grew a bit of strength in her voice. “I was in the inn, and became frightened. There are a lot of people in there… More than I’m used to I suppose.” Perhaps she was claustrophobic? She didn’t know, but she did know that inside of that inn, she was very uncomfortable. Though this man did not ease her nerves, he did seem to have some nerves to his air as well. His voice was relaxing, but he seemed to be bothered by something. “What about you? Are you all right? You seem a bit… frustrated.” He was equipped with more weapons than Enelya knew what to do with. Why did he need all of them? Was he a warrior? One such as Enelya barely even knew what they were all for. All weapons really did was cut and hack making others hurt… Which Enelya hated. She’d rather take someone in and cook them a nice bowl of lemongrass and tomato soup, give them a blanket, and chat a while. Of course, that is not how the world works, but Enelya couldn’t understand why not. Why would someone want to hurt another? It was beyond her level of comprehension. She did not understand why someone burned down her village. They were a simple group of tree sprites, nothing more. They aided the forest; they looked out for one another, not harming others. It was all so confusing to Enelya, especially with her scattered memories. Forgetting her manners, she blushed, and then looked up again to the man. “Excuse my manners, I’m Enelya, who are you?” |

Things were going good for Zorgn, onetime terror of Kellen. Anonimity had it's advantages. The entire Inn was seemingly drunk out of it's mind. It paid off for Zorgn since people didn't seem to notice or care that he had a small set of horns growing from his forehead and he was quite obviously dead. Zorgn rose from his table, and made for the back door. Several people gladly took his area when they saw he meant to leave. He didn't plan to be gone long, but killing over a table was too much effort at the moment. The stars called to him. He had not seriously just sat and looked at them untill his trip back from the west. It was a long ride, and there was not much to do except look at the stars. He had gained an appreciation for the tiny spots of light on that trip. They were beautiful, without compare on this world. Ever since, he had been unable to just think of them as illumination. They lit his path, yes, but they were so much more. The heavy door to the back alley yielded to his hand, and he was suddenly alone in the cool evening air. He raised his head and stared at the glittering brilliance of the heavens. |

He sighed, and shook his head. "I have a quest to undertake, and I'm making absolutely no progress on it. I'm looking for someone, and all I'm finding are dead ends and false clues." He sighed, popping his shoulders slightly, the blade and bow shifting slightly. He smiled. "No forgiveness is necessary. I am Marinias," he said simply by way of introduction. "And before you ask, yes, there is a reason I carry all these weapons. I... I am a ranger, and a druid, true, but I am first and foremost a guardian of the forests," he said softly. Through the mists of his memory, and the mists of time, he could hear his mother's voice. My son, you must protect the woodlands with all your might. If they cease to exist, so will all strength that might reside in your body. |

Enelya tilted her head slightly. A quest? Enelya’s head dropped back to her boots again, and she bit her lip slightly. She knew what it was like to come across nothing but dead ends and faded memories. Though, Enelya wasn’t really looking for someone… More so looking for who she was. She was no tree sprite that was for sure. She was at least five times their size! She didn’t know what she was, or who she was. She was Enelya Norvayn, and that was about the extent of her knowledge of who she was. Bits and pieces of her beloved village flashed through her… But no faces of her loved ones crossed her mind. It was strange; how she could have such strong feelings towards something she could not remember. It was like her heart was connected to something that her brain, her memory was not. Was that even possible? That her heart was still conscious of something her memory had forgotten in the fire? Her worries were placated when she saw Marin smile. She loved it when people smiled. It was beautiful. Marinias was a druid, ranger, and by the looks of him, an elf as well. She liked him already. “I call myself a druid, though, I’m more connected to the forest, than to magic, really.” She chuckled, looking up at Marin. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Marinias.” Enelya continued to lean up against the wall, the cool stone against her back. “Do you travel a lot then, if you’re a ranger?” Enelya paused, thinking herself silly. “Well, I guess you do, since you’re searching for someone, right?” She tended to speak before thinking sometimes, and more often than naught, it was embarrassing. |
