Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Eliel sat down at a barstool, gesturing for Kyrus to do the same. The pets were requested to stay outside in the stable. Gwen was more than happy to oblige, disliking big crowds of people. "Two ales, if you will" He sent a telepathic link to the barkeep. the man jumped and seemed bewildered, looking around for the source. eyes settling on Eliel, he seemed to relax. He brought out two mugs, filled them to the top, and slid them to Eliel. Turning to Kyrus, he smiled. He was quite worn after the trip back from the tunnels. Even with the shortcut, it still took too long in Eliel's opinion. Taking a swig, he reminded Kyrus as he dropped two gold coins, "Remember now, the second round's on you." He laughed and set the mug on the bar.

Kyrus laughed as he took a swig of his own ale "Do not worry friend I won't forget," he laughed and grinned across at his friend "Ah, nothing like a good ale after a good days Goblin hunting," he said and grinned again. His Gryphon Solomon sat outside and he could see him peering at him through the window, such a loyal pet was Solomon. Kyrus turned his attention back to Eliel "So friend," he said "tell me a little about yourself. Where did you grow up?"

Eyes clouding in recollection, he grinned. "I was raised by my dark elf mother in the Dark Lands. she taught me all I know, and hired a male to teach me to mind-speak. It was a fend-for-yourself sort of life after she died. The rest of the dark elves rejected me for my heritage, leaving me in the tunnels. The rats were my only friends. I fought the goblins with my hands," Eliel looked at them on the bar, covered now by the Gauntlets that he so cherished and cursed. ", although you cannot see them now, they are covered with scars." He smiled as he came to the second part of his story. "After many years of this, i found my way to the surface. I had to spend some time learning to cope with the sunlight and see correctly. I was merely looking for food and found a wolf one night. I was terrified then, thinking it was an enormous rat." suspicious of Kyrus' going to laugh, he said, "In my defense, i had never seen a wolf. But anyway, I was prepared to fight it. By the time it had snarled and tackled me, i had realized how outclassed I was. That's when I met Gwen." He gazed out the window. "A rough relationship, but worth it in the end." He smiled and turned to Kyrus. "That's mine, now tell me yours." He chuckled and dropped his empty mug, tapping it with an armored finger.

Kyrus listened intently to Eliel as he recounted his story and he nodded in the appropriate places. When his friend asked him of his story he nodded and began "Well I had a similar upbringing as you did. I used to live here in Kellen but everything changed one terrible day. My mother, father and I were out travelling when we were set upon by Dark Elf bandits who brutually killed my mother and father before me when I was but five. But somehow I escaped notice and was found and raised by a kindly farmer and his wife on the outskirts of Kellen," he explained "I left Kellen when I was twelve in search of those who killed my parents, and later, the woman I loved. But to this day they alude me, so I have wandered Imythess having taken up the life of a wandering warrior-paladin," he said.

Eliel began laughing quietly. "Friend, how similar our stories, how different our chosen paths. For alas, you are a paladin, and here am i, a wandering assassin. Oh the irony!" he chuckled again. "I apologize friend, but you cannot admit how much we would be set apart had we met under different circumstances. You have to appreciate the gods do have a sense of humour." He wiped a tear from his eye and hit the bottom of his mug on the bar. "Another ale, and this time my generous friend is paying." he smiled. The ale seemed to have begun it's work on his light frame.

Kyrus smiled at Eliel "You speak the truth friend," he said with a laugh and laid the gold down on the table for the bar men when he had finished his first ale and placed the empty glass down on the table. He smiled at his friend "Yes," he said "the gods do indeed have a sense of humour. Who would have thought that an assassin and a paladin would be travelling together. I mean what are the odds?" he laughed and took a sip of his second ale.

"Very small, my warrior friend." He said, wiping a pearlescent tear from his eye. Eliel heard the bartender yell at something. "Blasted cat!" The gruff man yelled. Gwen sniffed in his direction proudly and strode to Eliel's stool. "Hmm. apparently Gwen has changed her mind about taverns." Dropping a few coins on the table, he whispered an order into the bartender's ear, who smiled himself. He disapeared into a back room for a moment, and appeared seconds later with a saucer of milk. Looking back at Kyrus, he explained. "laced with ale, of course. Let's see if she likes it." Eliel smiled to himself and watched her sniff it and take a hesitant lick. She pulled her head back, ears flattened in curiosity.

Eliel laughed as she stooped back down to begin drinking. a moment later the cat was finished. She stood and walked over to Eliel and Kyrus. She made a sound Eliel had never heard her issue before. She purred, a deep rumble from the big cat. Looking at Kyrus, she rubbed up against his leg.

Kyrus cocked an eyebrow and laughed as Gwen purred and rubbed up against her leg. He smiled and reaching down he scratched her behind the ears and grinned at his friend Eliel "Is she usually this friendly?" he asked and took another sip of his ale as he waited for his friend's reply. He thought of his wife and a tear rolled down his cheek "Oh Aris where are you?" he said softly and he wondered if Eliel would notice.

Eliel smiled at Gwen, not looking at Kyrus to see the tear. "No, she is not. But ale will do that to a person, or an animal." He grinned widely, telling gwen to sit. She groaned as she lay down, covering Eliel's foot. He leaned over to scratch her neck. Eliel yawned after doing so, beginning to feel the day's pounding. They had been travelling all day, with few breaks. He needed a meal and a bed. "Perhaps we should retire, friend. I am in great need of a real bed and real food, not rabbit meat and a cloak on the ground." He laughed.

Kyrus smiled at his friend Eliel softly "You are right my friend, I too would welcome a nice soft bed after our journey." He sighed suddenly and a sad look came onto his face "Eliel my friend, can I tell you something? Why I have become sad?" He thought of his wife Aris and sighed softly "Oh Aris where are you my love?" He then looked to Eliel awaiting his answer.

Eliel watched him intently. Kyrus muttered something, then looked back at Eliel with intent eyes, most likely awaiting his responce. After all, Kyrus had listened to his story, and Elile had only listened to part of his. He should be allowed to finish.

Eliel nodded. "A good friend always keeps an open ear. Speak." He looked to the waiter and ordered a glass of water to clear his head. The man was off immediately. Gwen lay asleep on Eliel's feet, purring in her ale-induced sleep.

The water arrived and Eliel took a large drink of it, the cool water clearing his throat. He set the glass down and rested his head on his fist, listening.

Kyrus nodded to Eliel and looked across the table at him as another tear ran down his cheek "There is one who is very important to me," he said "her name is Aris and she is my wife. I have searched long and hard for her for many years, you see we were separated after a horrible battle many many years ago and since then I have been searching for her," he explained as more tears rolled down his cheeks. "But my friend I have been unable to find any trace of her, I...I am afraid that she is dead. But I just don't want to give up, oh Eliel I miss her so much."
