Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The cold still air in Taras made everyone head inside under their blankets. The town was empty and silent, the lights from the windows helped guide the way. Miyako finally stopped and put her hood up, she breathed slowly and steadily, she looked at the air coming from her mouth and she shivered. She wrapped her arms around herself and sat down on an old bench. She closed her eyes, wanting to get some kind of sleep.

She dreamed of what could be. She dreamed that she was back in her home land eating and drinking with friends. She dreamed that she was in love and smiling again. She dreamed for things too perfect, and far beyond her reach. She dreamed of paradise.

She heard something then, and she opened her eyes. She could see nothing, but hear some more footsteps behind her. She turned around to look at the figure.

It had been quite some time since he had last ventured his way through the city of Taras. He often than not tried to avoid the cities, often due to the hustle and bustle of the comings of a new day. It seemed too hectic for him, too many people to watch, too many things to remember all at once. Most of the time it took him by surprise and he hated not knowing everything that was going on, and the fact that someone could turn on you in an instant, wasn’t something he was all too thrilled about.

Pulling his cloak tighter around his body, his wings would also tuck themselves in closer and tighter to his body in order to trap the heat close to his body. It had worked for a short time, but when the soft bursts of wind would kick up again, it seemed to bring him back to square one and that was cold once again. Shivering slightly, his eyes would lightly scan their way across his surroundings before falling upon a woman resting on a bench. Was she nuts to be out in this sort of weather, or was there a reason that she had been out here? Shrugging slightly as if to answer his own question. He would falter to a dead halt a few yards from her, having taken notice of her eyes upon him. Offering a faint smile, his words would pick up in a soft melodic tone, “I’m sorry, I’m not intruding on you am I? Allow me to introduce myself….The name’s Varonen Skeirs, it’s not often I come here to the city of Taras, so you’ll have to excuse my subtleties.”

She nodded and smiled softly at him as her dark purple eyes scanned the man. "No not at all, you aren't intruding." She stood up and looked around at the building around them, then looked back at him. "Pleasure to meet you, Varonen Skeirs. You may call me Miss Miyako." Her voice was soft, and her cheeks were a deep red, someone would think that she had gotten slapped on the cheek or something like that, but the truth was that her cheeks were normally rose colored. He reminded her of someone she met someone before, someone that she knew when she was only a child, however, he had died. Memories flashed through her mind, like when they would play jokes on people, and when they would run away for a few days. Her eyes got a little watery, but she snapped back into reality.

"This is my first time here, actually." She said as she took a few steps toward him. She placed her hands by her mouth as she blew on them and rubbed them together to get some feeling in them again. She coughed a few times, she must be starting to get sick. Sighing she continued to rub her hands together and blow on them.

When she rose from the bench and began approaching him, he would simply smile and nod his head in recognition to her name, before repeating it, “Miss Miyako, eh? And why do you suppose people call you Miss as opposed to just plain Miyako?” Varonen had always been curious by nature, it was the one thing that made him who he was. In fact, it was probably that fact and a couple others that made him so easy to get along with.

When she mentioned of never venturing to this city before, a slight chuckle passed his parted lips, “Well, I suppose we do share some similarities as far as finding things in this city goes. My home is the forest and the village of Kellen, which is considerably smaller than this city. So it’s quite overwhelming to venture into a city such as this. I suppose it wouldn’t have been so bad if it weren’t so blasted cold. I had just come from the desert not but a day ago, so this is quite a temperature change to get used to.”

Lowering his eyes from hers, they would flitter down to the armor that adorned his torso and to the small creature that peeked its head out through the neck of it. It’s long black ears were the only thing that could be visible through the shrouding of the cloak that bound to his body. Laughing lightly, his hand would reach through the neck of the armor and pluck out the rabbit, trying to be as gentle as he could, before lowering to a crouch. Placing the rabbit feet flat upon the ground, he would begin to lightly stroke his hand across its jet black fur, “This little guy is Geist, a companion of mine. You can pet him if you wish.” Rising back to an erect stance, he would take a few steps back to create some room should she choose to do so.

Geist lifted its head into the air, sniffing it for any foreign scents that could prove a danger to him. Finding nothing odd about the air itself, it would lower its head back to the ground where it would proceed to sniff around for anything that resembled food. Suddenly stopping the action, its eyes would situate themselves upon the foreign form of Miyako, curious by her appearance before his Master.

The feeling in her hands returned as she continued to rub them. Nodding, she placed her hands on her hips. "Yessir, Miss Miyako. As I will call you Mister Varonen. Since we have just met, I find it respectful to call someone Miss, Mister, or Misses." She had been raised like that, respect was important to her. As he mentioned where he had come from, she smiled. "Actually, im quite new to these lands, I have a lot to see still. How is the Village of Kellen? And...the desert? Oh, there is so much I wish to see! I can't wait to get out of this cold weather and experience what is out there!" She smiled thinking of the future days to come.

She noticed him look down on his chest, and pulled a rabbit. She giggled, admiring the cuteness of it. She bent down and pet it softly, smiling. Geist was the best thing she had seen in days, and made her happier. "Geist is so cute." She said looking back up at Varonen and then back at Geist. She spoke to it like she would to a little child. "Hey there, little guy." She continued to stroke him, smiling.

In a nearby building, a little boy came out of his house crying and she turned to look at him. She felt sorry for the little boy as he ran past them then ran by a tree and hid behind it. His weeping could be heard, and she looked back at Varonen sadly.

She had certainly seemed to be an odd one, but it wasn’t all too common that people had addressed him or anyone else as a Mister or a Miss. It had taken him back slightly, but he quickly shook off the surprise of it and focused his full attention upon her as she spoke. Lifting a single curious brow, his head would tilt itself off to the side in response, “Mister…It’s not often I hear something like that, but whatever churns your gears is quite alright with you, Miss Miyako.” A wry smile would grace his slender lips, but it would seemingly fade when she would present her curious questions.

Thinking on it for a few moments, his words would come in an eloquent and elaborate manner as they weaved her a picture, “The Village of Kellen…It’s a small quaint little place, where everyone knows everyone and that little to no crime occurs. It lies nestled within the protection of the woodlands, its buildings simple in design, but a few elaborate and intricate styled buildings do hold their footings there. A great stable also lies just on the outskirts of the town, the best in the entire country as far as I’d care to wager. Other than that, it’s a very merry little town and quite friendly. As for the desert, I suppose I’d describe it nothing other than a simple desert. As for the city that resides there, I could only describe it as amazing.” Offering her a brief smile, his attention would slip from her and to the child that ran past them and behind the tree not too far off from them. Unsure what to do, his eyes would transfix themselves upon her once again, “Would you like me to try my hand at cheering the little guy up or would you rather do it?”

Geist jumped slightly, startled by the sudden appearance of the weeping boy and then the sudden disappearance. Curiosity probed the rabbits mind as it sniffed the air slightly, able to catch the scent of the boy. Following the scent through sight, it would turn its head in the direction of the small child, but would venture no further unsure of what the boy could or would be capable of. Instead, he would await any movement given by his Master that would indicate that the boy was nothing of any harm to either of them.

She listened to him explain the Village of Kellen, and it made her smile. It sounded like a very peaceful place. A place that she would dream of when she was younger and that she wanted to visit. It was the opposite of where she came from. Although, she didn't really like to think about where she came from, or talk about it, as it would give her too many memories that would make her wish she never left home in the first place. All that was on her mind was to adventure and experience what she had read as a little girl secretly, since her parents didn't want her to get any ideas. Too bad, she had already began to fantasize about traveling, rather than want to fufill her parents wishes on what they wanted her to be.

She looked at the young boy once more and then too Veronen again. Her face was still sad from seeing the weeping boy. She stopped petting Geist as she rose up onto her two feet and smiled slightly. "Let's both go and try to cheer him up. I don't like seeing people sad..." She said in a soft voice as she glanced at the young boy again. Walking slowly towards him, she bent down next to him. "Hey there..."She said in a soothing, calm voice. The boy was weeping with his face in his hands. When he heard her voice he looked up to see her, and his eyes were red from all the crying. He looked at them rather confused. He was wondering who and what they were doing there, and why they even bothered talking to them. He shiver and his teeth started to chatter, from the cold air.

She smiled softly at him and began to speak in a calm voice again. "We aren't here to hurt you, we just are concerned about you. Why are you crying?" The young boy's confused expression changed to surprise. He looked down and took a deep breath. "Dad is mad at me and my sister is sick. Its hard, since Momma passed away." Miyako's facial expression turned to sadness, as she looked down too. "I'm sorry. But don't worry, kay? Everything will get better, right Mister Varonen?" She said as she looked back up at Varonen.
