| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Yeah... I recently found a site called Mike's RPG Center. It has alot of cool pics of swords, shields, armor and stuff like that. JUST what I was looking for, for my site. I know about copyright and stuff, and how I have to like... put it somewhere. So yeah... where would I put it on my board? To let everyone know that the images im using are not mine? I dont wanna have my board shut down because I forgot to do that... so yeah, I've noticed you guys have quite a bit of copyright stuff.... so I thought I'd ask this question. Anybody? |

Bottom of the board for skin, forum, and any buttons. If you shops to make shops with pictures you can place it at the bottom of the topic or should you keep your multitudes of the same item, you could make sepate copyrights topic in each of the shops, thought the above method is probably better.

More specifically, you should contact the webhost and ask if it is alright to use their images for a not-for-profit web board. If they approve, which they will more likely do if you rehost the images you want on your own bandwidth, then you place the copyright statements everywhere (or somewhere in your rules section if they consent to that being enough). When you are grabbing what appears to be "so many images" from one site, its better to ask first. Easier to ask permission than to beg forgiveness. |

You also need to worry about hotlinking. Hotlinking is when you simply copy the image URL from a site like Mike's RPG Center then put that image on your board. The image is hosted at another website and that website has to pay for bandwidth - which is not cheap. Using their space and bandwidth is tantamount to theft and they'll feel it in their wallets. If you receive permission to use their images, you should upload copies of them to somewhere like Photobucket before you start using them. |

On any give website you should be able to find some way of getting a hold of the webmaster or some other staff member. This will 9.9999/10 be an email address. You'll have look around the site for it on your own though. This For example is email adress to contact Mike of Mike's rpg center. It wouldn't be as easy to find for other sites, but it should be too hard to find. And as far as asking them goes and as Sargoth stated, simply ask for permission to use them on your not-for-profit web board in as proffessional manner as you can muster. How you does so is up to you, and as long as you cover what we told you wether it be in a small paragraph or a good lord Essay, you should be good to go. |
