Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

While he had heard numerous tales concerning this section of forest in the land of Imythess, Konahomaru himself had never seen it. Let alone travelled inside. And although he considered himself well travelled in Imythess, most of his experience was had surrounding southeastern and mid-Imythess. Few times did he ever really venture to the west, or to the north.

However, after having been 'caged' in the arena matches for some time, Kona decided it good to take a 'holiday'. Of course, this 'holiday' was actually an expedition of sorts. Although he did not take any travelling companions with him, a fly dragon that had the habit of showing up whence it pleased was tailing him as he travelled through the woods. The sun was brightly shining above, and there was not a cloud in the sky. The combination made the forest cool yet full of a lively warmth where the beams peirced the canopy and produce spotlights upon the forest ground.

A slight breeze affected the branches, causing them to sway as if motioning Kona further into the forest. However, Konahomaru was not here for some light and cheery stroll. As wonderful as the day appeared to be, it was soon to grow stormy. For, whenever Kona began to summon a flurry of lightning bolts upon his foes, the sky quickly darkened with the clouds that gathered as a result.

Truth to the motives being, he was here to cleanse the forest, or at least remove part of the evil that had come to inhabit it. The Calmonah Forest had been a typical, average forest, healthy with plenty of animal life and the like. However, as time passed the place became a refuge for those escaping justice, or those seeking to avoid it's notice from the start. In fact, word was out that some evil intentioned wizard had control over most of the area.

Konahomaru was here to be a thorn in his side. Regardless of the fact that another had taken the throne Kona thought he would be sitting in at some point in the near future, the celestial did not give up his own fight against evil.

So, as he passed by tree and shrub, brook and stream, Konahomaru pondered over these things as the bright gold fly dragon flitted about with an ever watchful eye of the surroundings.

Aether Draka had never been in this part of the woods, and as she had been in many portions of the forest already she found it imposable to resist the temptation to explore it. She had not heard the rumors and really had no idea what she could or couldn’t find in this part of the woods. None of that really mattered to her though, as she was being driven by curiosity alone.

After wandering about most of the night and day she had decided to take a break in a tree. About halfway up a tree just under two stories tall she sat on a fork in the main tree trunk. She had just eaten and was completely hidden among the shadows, waiting for something interesting to come along.

She then noticed a sound, but had yet to see anyone. She waited and saw a bright flash of color. She then saw Turin zip down out of the tree, abandoning the perch he had taken on her shoulder with his tail gripped loosely about her neck like a necklace. The tiny creature spiraled down and confronted the other bright bit of color… another fly dragon!
It was golden while hers is more of a copper color… She waited then, still remaining completely hidden in the shadows. She hoped that it was not going to be an unfriendly encounter. What if she had to defend her tiny friend?

Some out of place rustling in a nearby tree caught the celestial's attention, drawing his sight up and to his left as a bright glow was seen approaching. Bronze to copper in color, it moved at a steady and somewhat quick pace as it manuvered through the foilage directly towards them. Kona did not sense the presence of any ill intentions, but nevertheless, his hand went near the hilt of his Force Blade. Using a Lightning Blade in the forest would only be a great way to catch the area aflame, and he did not want to resort to such drastic measures. Yet.

Reacting with near equal speed, his own fly dragon approached the glow. Which revealed itself to be... another fly dragon? This piqued the celestial's interest. Was this fly dragon a wild one? It clearly had a neutral coloration, so it did not belong to a fellow holy one. Perhaps it had not found a partner to aid? The two seemed to be sizing each other up breifly. Kona's own fly dragon became playful, flitting back and forth, occasionally poking at it's new freind.

Konahomaru moved his hand away from his sword. There seemed to be no danger from the creature. Looking around, Konahomaru could not help but get the feeling he was being watched. However, he quickly dismissed it as paranoia. Afterall, there were many living things in the forest. A celestial with a gold to white aura wearing equally shining clothes would attract anyone's attention. That, and the walking arsenal it happened to be. A Lightning Blade on his back, a katana on his left hip, the Force Blade on his right, and of course the two Masterwork Daggers unseen under his coat sleeves.

The trio paused in the forest for a moment, and then Konahomaru took a step forward to resume his journey.

Only a moment later someone stepped forward from where the tree branches had been too thick to see him. Why she had not seen him was a surprise though. She studied him for a moment, trying to decide if she could tell anything about him. He looked like a real warrior, not some wanna-be guard. He also looked… good. Like the angels and part angels she had known. Part of her told her to just ignore him, that he wouldn’t find her here and she was safe. That part didn’t last long once her curiosity sparked up. He had shinnies, very shinny blades and he had a fly dragon too! Turin had been her constant companion from the very day she arrived in Imythess and he was flitting around in a very non-combative way with the other one. There was no spells being cast and he didn’t seemed worried about the man below. She looked again at the weapons and reminded herself she did have a defense against basically attacks. She could also defend herself with the two daggers on her hip if really needed, or the want tucked in the sheath of the green handles elven blade.

She paused for a moment as her curiosity overran caution and uncertainty. She didn’t move, but used the shadows to teleport to the base of the tree, glad that there was still shade there for her to appear in. She had too many times tried to shadow jump and had it simply not work because there were no shadows where she wanted to go when she wanted to get there.

AD then peered around the tree to make sure she knew where he was before going around the other side of the tree where sunlight was specking the trunk and earth. “Hello.” She said with a slight smile, ready to cast sanctuary if he turned an attack on her. Upon seeing her appear, her fly dragon zipped over to her and perched on her shoulder again. He started to talk to her telepathically. “Not now.” She said softly to him in draconic.

Konahomaru was yet unaware of the person who had teleported behind him. Although he was usually well awre of his surroundings, this was not a combat situation and his higher senses were not running at full power. Nevertheless, he couldn't quite shake the feeling that the newcomer fly dragon was no the only other presence nearby. Then, out of the blue, the word "Hello." sprouted and took him by slight surprise.

The celestial turned around to see before him a young and attractive female of... the elven race? What were elves doing around here? Did they have a village nearby of some sort? No, most likely this person was a traveller. But something else caught his attention. Not only did she have elven aspects, but human as well and a touch of something else. Kona could not quite tell what it was, and without Nariwa helping him it would be near impossible to tell. It set Kona off ease and also made him want to be more freindly at the same time.

"Hello." replied Konahomaru, still regarding her. He was at a slight loss for words, which wasn't unusual as he never did talk much in the first place. "Usually, the arrived person introduces herself first. I will allow an exception, though. I am Konahomaru, Servant of Blades and a gaurdian of Taras under Veronna Darkblade's command. Who might you be?"

She was dressed in dark colors, for her shadows. She wore a soft leather bodice in moron suede that actually matched her hair. It was laced up with a wide black ribbon, a bit of which she had also used to tie back her hair. She wore a shirt and ridding pants in black also, with her winged boots upon her feet. Her deep green back pack seemed a bit out of place on her shoulders, but it did match one of the two blade handles on her left hip. The chain about her neck was in sharp contrast with her dark clothing, being bright silver. The ring suspended on it, though silver also, seemed to be even darker then her clothing. Absently, she gripped the ring with her right hand as he introduced himself.

AD was wondering if he really was a guard then. She didn’t like guards. They didn’t act like real warriors did. They picked on her friends and others just by the way they looked, even when they did nothing wrong. She had even had guards start questioning her when she had still been with Raven, that was until Raven showed up, then they became all apologetic and tried to make it seem as if they had been helping her out when they had only been telling her how she couldn’t possibly be traveling with an angel and that she wasn’t allowed in where she knew Raven was, even to the point that when she had been told to meet him one place they had actually arrested her and Raven stopped them mid-way there. She thought carefully about this for a moment before responding to his words as if she was walking on eggshells.

“Ko-na-ho-ma-ru…” she sounded the name out. “Is that right, Konahomaru? I’ve been in Taras a lot and never heard of you. I’m sorry if I should have. I’m Aether Draka or AD if you prefer. Nice to meet you.” She held out her right hand in greeting to him and taking a step forward. The ring was released in that same movement. A single scar ran the palm of that hand. It was small, just a thin white line. It looked like she had perhaps grabbed some sort of blade. AD was encouraged by the fact that she had not been attacked yet though. Shaking hands is meant to show you are not armed and wish no harm. Not that it really meant as much to her, as she’s left handed.

Kona nodded as Aether introduced herself, a gesture of kindness. He felt like chuckling when she said she had not heard of him. However, he supressed the urge. It wasn't uncommon for people to not know of his name. No, heros got nearly zilch credit these days. That was fine and dandy though, knowing he had saved numerous lives in his day was reward enough. This young woman did seem somewhat standoffish, however. Perhaps she saw him as an authority figure of some sort? He often had that effect. Even though he was, he did not like to treat people in the same callous manner many other Talas Gaurds did unless absolutely necessary.

Reaching out his hand to return the shake, Kona noticed the scar on her palm. So, she wasn't without some form of combat experience. Most people didn't get scars like that unless the had been in a knife fight at the very least. Taking her hand firmly yet gently, Kona bowed slightly. "A pleasure, Aether." replied the celestial.

"If you do not mind me asking, how did you happen upon your travelling companion? I have only ever known paladins and clerics to have such partners. In fact, I myself am somewhat confused as to why my own freind decided to accompany me." asked Kona, gesturing towards his fly dragon. Indeed, it was something that had been on his mind then and again. Perhaps this person could provide some information that would be usefull. Perhaps not. In any case, if Konahomaru could befreind this person it would be possible she may fight alongside him in the near future.

It was always Konahomaru's goal to make allies before enemies, although sometimes there was no room allowed. Seele, and Munwithurix were names that came to mind. Althoug his meetings with Seele had always been breif, Kona imagined him to be a much more powerful opponent and force for darkness than Munwithurix for this very reason. That aside, though, Kona decided to invite along Aether as a travelling companion.

"I will be travelling towards the center of the forest, as there is a person there I am looking for. I heard he might be somewhere near there. Would you like to accompany me?"

((OOC: I'm so very sorry! I forgot about this thread until a stumbled into a reminder that you had posted! :( ))

AD was glad for the handshake. It was a bit of formality that had stuck with her for a while now, though she didn't use it as much as she probably should. She let her hand drop back to her side after the greeting and she replayed to his first question first.

"I don't know. He sort of found me when I first got to Imythess. The very first day in fact. I don't know where he came from or why he decided to stay with me. Turin is the best friend I have though. He takes good care of me." She smiled, not sure if Konahomaru had ever needed his own fly dragon's abilities, but she did need them. Specifically the healing. She didn't have any skill with that and she knew she would have ended up with more then just one scar across her palm if it wasn't for her tiny friend.

She smiled at his second question and nodded. "Sure. Sounds interesting. I'm not sure where the center would be, but I don't really have anything else to do." Her curiosity as to what was so important at the center of these woods was able to easily overrode a more important question, Who was he looking for?

"Very interesting, Aether. My companion seems to have sought me out some time ago, after my soul was bound with that of a celestial. It sounds intimidating at first, but do not be alarmed. I am no demi-god." replied Kona. It was important to him for everyone to know that while he was a near full-blood celestial, that did not make him an object of worship. He had always pointed those whom sought holy and pure worship to the God of Day, and those seeking betterment through self-discipline and training to his personal friend and master, the Goddess of Blades. It was easy for some to make this mistake.

However, it did not seem that his newfound friend was likely to do so. This brought him a measure of relief. And so, he continued where he had left off. "Yes, I haven't found a name for him. I am not a very creative sort. But my companion has always been a good eye for me too"

And so, seeing that Aether Draka had accepted his invitation to join him, Kona gestured in the direction that they would be heading. "I know not the exact location of my destination, but I do know it is in this direction. It is not a small place, and I expect we may encounter a few unfriendly people. I thought it good to warn you of that, if you are not well you shouldn't come. I will understand, as I came prepared to be alone."

Kona gestured towards his weapons as he had finished the last sentence. Yes, Kona was a veritable walking arsenal. On his left hip there was resting his trusty katana, the hilt well worn from years of use. On his right hip, his Force Blade, which he did not use very often but was fond of nevertheless. It glowed slightly with power. On his back there was the might Lightning Blade of Kona, which had disabled and slain many an evil foe. Enchanted with the ability to shock opponents, blessed against evil, and also blessed by the Goddess of Blades to be indestructible, it was his most powerful weapon.

((OOC: AD doesn't know Gregory is the God of Light in this thread, as I already have her surprised when she realized who he really is. What I post about him is from before he became divine... AD isn't too well informed as she tends to ignore rumors and follows fictional stories more often then anything else. If you could not mention that he is the God of Light though, I would appreciate it!))

"Why would I be alarmed? I've met others who are infused, like Rothardan and Gregory, and celestials too..." she shrugged. As long as he didn't try and boss her around like Gregory did, then she would be fine with him. Gregory... had made her mad. He had accused her of joining the demonic side of the never ending War between the Celestials and the Demons... and she hadn't been. She only didn't want her friends to fight each other, but they had insisted on fighting and she hadn't been able to stop them. Upset by this and the false accusation, she had left them to their own devices. She wasn't sure she wanted to try and be friends with Gregory anymore, even though he had helped her when she asked him if he could. She had seen Lynthaer after that, and had not received any animosity from him at all. He had even let her into the guild he had founded in the Abyss, even though he knew she had celestial blood. He was one of her best friends in Imythess... but there was no doubt even Konahomaru would attack him on sight... It was the War's fault. That same War even raged within herself, her demonic side clashing with her celestial... She shook her head slightly, reining in her wandering thoughts.

"I don't see why I wouldn't be well though. I know how to fight." She was fine right now, she had eaten and the two opposing sides of her were not out to kill the other, and ultimately her, today. Learning magic was helping with that though. AD only appeared to have two daggers at her hip, one with a worn red and gold hilt and the other a more ornate green and silver. She had four other blades on her, though she kept them safely out of sight until she felt she needed them…

"Please excuse me, it's just that it has happened several times before and I find it important that anyone I meet knows this..." replied Kona, slightly taken aback. Perhaps he shoudln't have mentioned it in the first place, considering she didn't show any alarm at all in the first place. The poor celestial's social skills were horrid at times, although it had gotten him skilled in apology and the like.

It was good to hear of Gregory and Rothardan, the other two more powerful and known holy warriors in the land. While Kona himself did not have Gregory as a personal freind, he reasoned that it would be nigh time to get to know him better considering the fact that he was no an immortal... not to mention a God. Best not to talk about that however.

Konahomaru was more interested in Rothardan, however. After hearing from Aether that she was able to fight, he began to walk towards the party's destination. "I have not heard from Rothardan in some time. Is he well?" asked the celestial.

His fly dragon zipped off into the brush, scouting ahead for any trouble. Also, it would alert Kona if the intended destination was nearby. It was difficult to tell if evening was approaching, as the thick forest canopy had block out most of the light and a dim haze set in on the forest floor from the cool damp air. It was serene, however, Konahomaru did not allow himself to be lulled off gaurd.

Enemies had a funny habit of attacking whenever one was engaged in conversation with a freind in the woods...

((OOC: Sorry it’s a bit short…))

"Excuse you? You're odd. There is nothing to excuse you for. Rothardan was in Taras not long ago. He was very quiet and seemed to have a lot on his mind. I'm not sure if he is normally that way though. All I know if that he didn't seem to really want to talk, just to be left alone, so I left him alone. I haven't seen him since then though." AD shrugged and looked around then gestured for him to take the lead.

With a genuine smile she said, "Well lead on then. I haven't a clue where we are going after all, even if it does seem rather interesting." AD didn't really see herself in any real danger after all. This place was full of shadows who could keep her safe. the one man who she had thought might be a danger didn't seem to be one at all, at least as long as she didn't bring up her demonic friends to him. Gregory had been very upset with her for saying she was friends with a demon. She doubted any of her friends were around here though.

It had taken quite a bit to learn that talking to those who were part angelic about demons made them mad just as talking about angels to those who where part demonic made them want to go kill something. The fact she was both part angel and part demon was something only a few knew. One was Lynthaer and the other was Gregory... at least as far as AD knew.

"Ha ha, odd. Yes, that is a good way of putting it... Rothardan has had alot on his mind lately. Especially ever since Gregory's - " before Kona could finish his sentence, a black hulk shot out of the brush and tackled him. The accosted celestial grunted as he hit the ground with the full force of his attacker pushed him into the forest floor. Before Kona could react, it jumped off of him and was gone into the brush just as fast as it had come. Kona had both of his daggers drawn, one of which was bloody.

So, he had at least cut him. That made it easier to track. Konahomaru was not without his own wounds, however, as several scratches were hash marking his face, neck, and chest. The were not deep, but they did sting terribly. Getting onto his feet, Konahomaru got his bearings and looked around calmly. No sense in panicking. "That was awfully rude. You would think that it would at least stick around to-"

Again, Kona was interrupted as it burst from the trees above and landed on his shoulders. This time, it had a blade against Kona's chest which was threatening to punch through his ribcage. Only did his thickened and hard skin prevent the dull weapon from punching through. Without wasting a moment, Kona reached up and stabbed it in chest with his left hand, and then stabbed it in the shoulder with his right.

Bringing the creature down hard to the ground, he then slit it's throat and kicked it for good measure. But it was too late, as the blade had pierced him in the process. Although not a fatal wound, it would require healing soon. A hard breath came to the celestial and he coughed up some blood. "It punctured my left lung... HACK!"

Never before had the warrior been so severely wounded so quickly. This would be tougher than he had thought, and the challenge was welcome. Kona knelt, and then layed down on the dirt and rested. Slowly, his wounds began to seal themselves up. A gift given to him by his infused soul, his very aura had healing properties to it. Useful in battle. "Are you a healer by any chance?" he asked, as he looked over the body next to him.

A small humanoid, but covered in a fur coat. It seemed however to be a cloth of some sort and not a natural growth. Konahomaru nodded towards Aether, signaling her to unmask their now dead foe...

((OOC: A bit shorter then I would like…))

AD froze in place when the surprise attack came, her sanctuary wrapping around her so she wouldn’t be the first one hurt. She hadn’t thought of Kona though. She didn’t know if he could do such a thing. She had always been able to shield herself, always, but her friends… She was still trying to locate the surprise attacker when he fell upon Kona once more and AD took a step back, her green elven dagger held in her left hand, the blade laying flat aginst her arm as she held it in a way that most would consider backwards. She moved one step forward just to have to move back once more as the attacker was thrown to the ground. It twitched and was still. AD threw a glance at it and then turned to Kona. When he asked about a healer AD shook her head but said, “Turin, help him please.” In draconic.

The fly dragon zipped from his hideing place and lighted on Kona’s chest next to the wound. His tiny claws anchoring him, Turin quickened the healing process along with his own magic. AD went over to the fallen figure, blade still in hand and subconsciously renewing her sanctuary in what would be a surprising waste of magic to anyone who knew what she was doing and more about magic then she did. She reached out to find out who or what had attacked them.
