Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Sava tripped, and fell against the cobblestone street, landing on her knees and hands, and now cuts opened on her hands. She made an odd noise in her throat, and got up once more, and then ran. She was fast, though, not as graceful as a elf or anything, well, she wasn't a elf, she was a dragon, in a human form, but even in a human form, she acts still like a dragon, it is who she truly is. Isn't it? The temptations always continue, pulling at her everyday when she is around humans, and elves. She wants to be a human, but then she wants to be dragon, so she keeps it even, often dragon, and often human, it is nicer then, the pains are less.

Right now, Sava is trying to escape a dragon-slayer who came to town, it was just her luck, to have this happen. She heard his armor behind her, and the clattering of his horse. The town guards must have asked him to come to slay the black and green dragon that has been seen here for a long time. Why couldn't they just accept her?

Yeah, they don't except vampires, werewolves, undead, and stuff, but she pays, shes nice, she doesn't harm anyone, whats with the town?

Then, she knew the slayer was right behind her, he was too close.

She ran and ran, but he was still getting closer.

Then, while she ran, she was changing into a dragon, in a matter of seconds, she was a medium size dragon, running in the main large road, right then, she spread her wings and took to air, flapping hard and strong. Below her, the slayer had fallen from his horse, by the strong gusts of wind. Savarkael landing on a building nearby, staring down at the dragon-slayer, hatred clear in her dragon eyes.

"Fools..."She said in draconic.

"Ahh, sir, can you please tell me where is Thomas workshop?"
Since Dalin's first day in Taras, a couple of days ago, Dalin's was looking for money badly.
Sleeping on the streets was dangerous, as he learned when an undead tried to kill him. Also, eating garbage wasn't very healthy nor tasty. He had to earn some money to rent a room in the local inn and to eat someting that is less then three weeks old.
Right now he was doing odd jobs, delivering mail and goods from a trader to another most of the time. He helped some fruit seller by getting rid of some birds that kept eating his wares, but other then that he just carried heavy stuff.

Right now he was carring a crate full of ores and metal bars to a local blacksmith, Thomas, and he quickly understood why his payment was so generous.
The workshop was in the other side of town, about three hours of walk away from his employer and that crate probably weighed a bit more then Dalin himself.
He was lost so he asked random person how to get to Thomas's workshop, putting the crate on the ground until he answers and breathing heavily.
"It's there, I think," he said, pointing in the direction that Dalin came from.
"Thanks." Dalin lifted the crate once again and began going back, looking for a sing that will guide him.

As he walked, he saw a woman runing, right after her came a well armored man on a horse, almost hitting him.
"Hi, watch it!" the man on horse ignored him and kept raiding, and then happened something that almost made Dalin dropping his crate.
A dragon appeared out of no where, flew above the man on the horse, dropping him off his mount in the process, and landed on a building.
The dragon said something that sounded like a roar to Dalin. He believed it was words, but he couldn't understand what it meant.
"What the..." Dalin said, slowly walking back. He stumbled and fall, dropping his precious crate on the floor. Luckily, it wasn't damage.

First undeads now dragons...are they going to hire better guards any time soon?

Sava stared from her height on the building, at the dragon-slayer, who was getting up, and then stared at her, he was obviously angry at her for changing. What would he expect? That she was easy to catch. She smirked, a evil dragon smirk. She laid down on her post, looking all relaxed about it, and examined a clawed foot, as the knight shouted and yelled at her. She she ignored him, a smirk still on her face. She knew black and green dragons wouldn't do this, and would kill the man, but she was enjoying this part, it was like a game to her.

She looked at Dalin, who had dropped the crate. She watched him a moment, though, shouts distracted her. Guards were coming. Cocking her head slightly, she was getting bored of this game, as she thought it still. She stood, and flapped her great wings and was once more lifted in the air, and then, glided slowly, on the street again, and once on the ground, her dragon self once more changed into a human form. Tall, slender. Tan skin. Black and green eyes and hair, wearing her traveling clothes.

Her eyes fell on the knight again. She knew the guards were getting near. "Fun, fun," she thought, rolling her eyes, and drew her two slim swords, the lightning blade, and blade of air.

"Come one then, this is boring as it is, fool." Sava said to the knight, who climbed on his horse. "Not fair." She mumbled, gripping her swords, though her hands hurt from her fall earlier. She was in a battle ready stance, waiting for the dragon-slayer to make the first move.

Dalin looked in amazement as the dragon turned into a woman - the woman he saw runing before! she must be some kind of a shape shifter, and that man is tring to catch her.
The guards will be here any second now... Actuley, that thought wasn't very encouraging. He saw the guards on action in his first day, and they were useless.
That woman, or dragon, or what ever it was, got inside Taras and the guards couldn't stop her then. Dailn doubted that they can stop her now.
But in large numbers, useless as they are, they can do SOMETHING. At least they might make her flee.

Well, actuley, I shouldn't stay here and watch, I should run for my life! the woman drew two swords, and the knight climbed on his horse. They are going to fight, and Dalin didn't want to be there when someone will breath fire...his crate didn't look that important now.
He began crawling away from the sence, and then stood up and tried to run.
But just then, the knight decided to charge.
The horse kicked the air and charged, and Dalin was simply unlucky enough to stand exactly where the air was - the horse hitted him, he was pushed back and hitted the wall, and fall on the ground.

It could have been funny, if not for the fact that Dalin began bleeding.
The knight didn't even notice, he just charged on the woman, leaving Dalin behind.
Dalin coughed blood. The knight must have broken his ribs or something. His head was injured from the impact with the wall.
He felt dizzy. "Help," he wisphered, tring to draw the knight's attention but he knew that he couldn't hear him.
He had to reach the healing hall. He could have seen it, but it looked so far...Please, gods, make the guards get here on time, just for once... He stood up, tring to stay balanced, and began walking slowly to the hall of healing.
But he was too weak. In a last attempt to save himself, he throwed a little stone at the knight, hoping to make him notice him. But he failed, the stone hitted the wall next to the woman. He had no chance now. Everything got black all of the sudden... He fall on his knees and collapsed on the cold stone floor.

Suddenly, the knight charged on his horse. It was a large warhorse, it was quite easy to tell. Most dragon-slayers would use such types of horses. The knight had a broadsword out, in a ready position to chop Sava's head off, but that would never happen, she was quicker. The horse reared and bucked, and she saw it kicked the man in the head, that had once been carrying the crate. She narrowed her eyes, but then looked at the knight, ready to attack. Right then, he was upon her, and slashed a deadly blow for her neck, and the horse kicked at her.

Sava jumped out of the way, but fell to the ground, not really wanting to, but it seemed she was quite clumsy today. The horse would have smashed her, but she rolled out of the way, and jumped to her feet once more, swords still in her hand, and she swiped a blow or two at the knight, the first blade hitting his broadsword, and her second, cut the strap that held the knights saddle onto the horse. In a instant, he and the saddle fell from the kicking horse, and onto the hard ground.

She heard a small rock hit the wall nearest her, and she looked to who threw it, and saw the man, bleeding, her eyes widened, then to a glare, and at the knight. She neared the horse, who calmed down a little. She raised a sword, and it the horse with the flat of the sword, and there was a crack, and it met the horses rump, and it reared and cantered around the corner. The knight was standing up, after untangling himself from the saddle, and glared at her. She smirked.

"I was thinking about letting you live, but now... I believe you lost that, but being a bit unfair." She said calmly, and pointed her lightning blade at the knights chest, and before he could even react, she mumbled a word of magic, and there was a crack of lightning from the blade, and the dragon-slayer knight was thrown back, hit from the lightning magic Sava's blade. He hit the far wall, and and slumped to the ground, whether he was alive or dead, she didn't know. She turned around sheethed her weapons, and walked over to Dalin. Who was wounded badly. She leaned over him, wondering if she should get him to the healing hall, or leave him. She didn't know if she felt like being cruel and leaving him for dead. Yeah, she most likely killed the knight out of cruelty, or just because he was trying to kill her, but this person had nothing to do with it. Sighing, she thought it over, though she had to quickly, it won't be long before guards come.

Dalin opened his eyes slowly. Everything was blur. He saw the knight lying on the ground, probably dead. He wasn't sure if he was happy about it or not. That knight was tring to kill that woman but maybe he was having a good reason. After all, she shape shifted into a dragon in the middle of Taras!
He wanted to know more, but he had other things to do first, mostly because he felt like he is going to faint again.
He could see the woman's face. Maybe he will live after all.

She couldn't have been that bad if she was at least considering to help him. But maybe she was thinking of something else. Maybe she didn't want to leave a witness behind, maybe she wanted to take him for some reason...But if she was, he had no chance. He had to assume that she was there because she thought about helping him. Maybe he could convince her to do it somehow.
I am not a threat, but she is probably in a hurry. The guards will get here soon...

Dalin didn't exactly had time to wander, though. He had to act quickly, to say something.
"don't leave me here..." He said in faint voice, "I will die... he coughed a little. He felt that his time is runing out. He will die soon if he won't get to the hall. She couldn't earn any thing out of helping him, she could only lose, so he had to talk to her conscience, hoping she has one.
"Use me as a human shield if you have to, just please, get me out of here...
He coughed again. He was going to faint again, and this time, he wasn't sure he will wake up this time.
He thought he heared steps. The guards are coming...but that was a bad thing, he realized, as it means that she will have to run - and leave him behind.
"Please?"

The chance to flee was running out, but she didn't feel she could without helping the human, she wanted to run, but there was an annoying nagging feeling, maybe it was the feeling of disappointing her friends for leaving a man here to die. The footsteps were close, she expected them to be around any moment. She mumbled a word of magic, and sent strong winds around the corners, hoping it would slow them down a little, though she doubted it.

When he started to speak, she crouched down to hear it, and moaned. She couldn't leave him, she wasn't that cruel to let someone suffer. and sides, he had asked her to help. Then she wondered if she should change back, but if she did, she would be too exhausted to fly.

"Fine, I'll help." She said, and lifted the man up, flung one of his arms around her neck, and she wrapped an arm around his back to keep him up, then she made her way towards an alley, half carrying and half dragging Dalin, then she pulled the wind away, letting go of the spell, and the footsteps were in the street she was just in. "This will be the death of me..." She said, mainly to herself, and she hurried her footsteps, going into streets and alleys, the voices and feet of guard right behind her.

Lanik munched on an apple ravenously, Taking comfort from the warm alleyway. The dark space was crammed full of old crates, pushed together to form a somewhat pitiful-looking shelter. It wasn't very large, but It worked. The size of a shed, the 'home' was space enough for lanik's few belongings. It was unrealistically light, seeing as the only possible light would be the sparse sunbeams from above. a small wooden cube, origionally a child's toy, was enchanted with fairy fire, one of Lanik's few powers.

Shouts and clattering footsteps echoed through the alley, fueling lanik's curiosity. The genasi exited the home and checked the road, head poking into the sunlight. After several blinding seconds' Lanik's eyes adjusted to the light and the noisy mystery was revealed. a woman stood above the fallen body of a knight. After a mumbled word, a flash of lightning struck the knight dead-on, instant death.

A previously unnoticed body spoke to the strange woman, lanik could hear pleas. She picked up the man and ran dangerously close to lanik's alleyway. hopping after the guards, lanik stopped them as the woman dissapeared from sight. Lanik was sure he had just witnessed a crime, but his curiosity got the better of him. Lanik pointed out to the wrong alley, and let them dissapear. crawling to the rooftops, lanik crouched low and ran after the woman that had inturrupted his stolen lunch.

Every thing was so much clearer now...he could see the guards going away, he could hear the sound of their walking getting further and further...he could see the woman, carrying him...carrying him? that's not right...he shouldn't be able to see himself. He suddenly noticed that he is much lighter then before. There is nothing to worry about now...everything will be fine...

From the outside the building seemed like a temple. His walls were made of beautiful white marbel. Large pillars of the same white marble welcomed Dalin as he entered the building. Inside the hall there werepriests and other healers of any kind. Few injured men were treated by few lone healers while the others prayed, talked, read and just wondered around.
A big fountain in the middle of the room made a soft sound of flowing water.
As the woman and Dalin entered, few healers noticed them. They quickly ran in their direction. One healer touched Dalin's wrist and closed his eyes, concentrating. He was wearing rich white robes, and around his neck was the symbol of some god.
"He is alive," the priest declared. "But not for long. We must treat him now." Two healers grabbed Dalin, still not paying any attention to the woman, and carried him away. Another one went with them, rising his hands and chanting some odd words. Dalin's wounds weren't getting better, but they stopped getting worse.
The healers took Dalin to some room in the back, getting him out of the woman's sight.
"Miss, may you please tell me what happened to this man? Such information can be very usful."

They soon got to the healing hall, and she got him in. Sighing, she waited for some healers to come over, and soon they did, and took him to another room. She wondered if he would be fine, she didn't want all her work to get him here and not run go to waste. She leaned against a white wall, watching the action go on all around her, of people being healed and such. Then her mind wandered. She heard noises behind them, like someone was following, but she knew it wasn't a knight or guard, she would have heard them. She tore herself away from those thoughts, as a healer came over and asked her a question.

"Miss, may you please tell me what happened to this man? Such information can be very useful."

"He was kicked by a dragon-slayers warhorse, thats all I know." She said, making sure her bloody hands weren't showing. She didn't want to be healed by these people.

Being here, brought back memories for her, when she was shot by an arrow, and Romanus had to basically carry her here. She didn't like thinking about the past, but she couldn't stop herself from remembering. She also wondered how he was doing, it has been a year or so since she last seen him.

She looked up at the healer, narrowing her gaze.

"Will he be alright?" She asked.

The feeling wasn't that bad, Dalin thought to himself. He kept rising up to the sky, leaving Taras behind, leaving everything behind...but then he began falling. Faster and faster, he fall on Taras - and then he stopped, bettwen heavens and earth. He felt as he was torn bettwen the two. He could feel horrible pain. Shadows appeared around him, wisphering horrible words...

"Oh, don't worry, I assure you, our healers will take care of him," the healer said, looking at the room that Dalin was taken to. "Now, excuse me please, I must go to help the other healers. Thank you for your information, it will be usful."
With that, the healer went to the room that Dalin was taken to.
The healer opened the door and entered the room.

Inside, Dalin laid on a bed. Around him, few healers stood. Dalin was still badly wounded. One of the healers cast some sort of a spell. Another healer bandaged his wounds. One healer was looking for something in a book.
"There is something wrong with his wounds...he dosen't heal fast enough for some reason..."
The healer that just entered the room looked at Dalin. He looked at one of his eyes. Raising his symbol, he began chanting a spell of his own.

There was a sudden flash of light. "Not yet...fools...not yet..." Dalin could see a figure of a man in dark robes, holding a staff. The man talked to the shadows. The shadows screamed a horrible scream and vanished. "How...who are you?" Dalin asked. Before the man could answer, Dalin felt that he was falling again. Through the building, inside a room, inside his body...

Dalin eyes opened. He looked around him. The small room only contained a bed, a book shelf, and a bunch of healers. The woman took him to the hall of healing, after all...
He stood up, in pain, still not fully recovered. "Rest a little...I'm afraid you will have to stay here for a day or so. So, what happened to you?"
Dalin rubbed his head. He was happy to be alive, and gussed that answering the man who healed him will not harm anyone.
"A horse kicked me..." Dalin said, "that bloody horse...I crashed on the wall...why they let people with those kinds of mounts get in town?"
The healer looked at Dalin, confused. "Are you sure that's all?"
"Why, yes. What's the problem?"
"Nothing, nothing...that's all then. You still need to stay here for a while-" "I will be fine, thanks" Dalin said, standing up and ignoring his pain.
"Are you sure?" "Yes, yes, I am.
Dalin went out of his room. He wondered if the woman was still there. She probably left, he knew. But if she didn't, he had to thank her. And warn her to leave as well...that healer was suspicious for some reason...

"I should run... guards will come, from all directions, until they know where I went... oh, damn... I've had worse... at least I'm not the one wounded," she thought, yawning a little. She felt tired. She watched the healer walk away and into the same room they took Dalin. "I should wait... but, then again... I'm in danger at the moment, being chased by guards and dragon-slayers..." She thought one more, standing straight, about to leave, but then, she leaned against the wall once more, torn in what to do. She wanted to make sure the man was OK, but she wouldn't in a while.

She stayed where she was, watching the healers walk about, till suddenly, her nightmares came, all in her head. The nightmares usually always come, even when she is awake, they haunt her, follow her. They were only a illusions only she could see. There were people with red eyes, watching her, walking towards her, whispering to each other in a unknown language. She stared wide eyed, and paled.

Then, she heard a door shut, and her nightmare, you could say, ending right away. She stared at the door Dalin came out of. Sava looked at the man, while trying to regain herself again, eyes calmer now, though, she seemed a bit pale. She stood straight.

"Oh wonderful, you well again... though, doubt your supposed to be walking around." She said. She should have left, because he was fine, now she had wasted her time here, worrying for no reason. But its what she does, worry a lot.

Dalin walked across the hall. He knew that he should be resting now...he felt pain when he walked. He was weak. But, he had to find that woman. And maybe my crate is still out there... He was a bit confused about the fact that he was alive...how did the woman get there? the guards should have catched her, for sure. The guards stopped chasing her for some reason - he could remember that he saw the guards getting away - but it won't be long until they will catch her. After all, Dalin probably left a blood trail after him. But, of course, she isn't there, so it dosen't matter...

Dalin was surprised to see the woman waiting there. He assumed that she will leave as soon as she can, but she stayed here. He wondered who she was and what just happened out in the street...he had some questions to ask...but he didn't have time for this. She must leave now. He approched the woman. The woman was the one to speak first. "Oh wonderful, you well again... though, doubt your supposed to be walking around."
"Well, I should be resting, but I think I am fine. And thanks, for saving my life and all..." Dalin looked around nervously. He couldn't help thinking that everyone in the hall looked at him.
"I don't know who you are, or what you did, but you didn't leave me out there to die...and..." Dalin lowered his voice to a wispher.
"You should get out of here," Dalin said. "The healer is suspecting something."

Lanik stood in the shadows several meters away from the pair, charcoal skin blending in with the darkness, ruby eyes darkened in curiosity. Lanik could hear every word, but he couldn't seem to make heads or tails of it. It made no sense, unless the female was some criminal-at-large. Lanik's eyes widened and squished himself against the wall. the hairs not bound by his hat were floating about, almost flickering.

Lanik started to worry. The female seemed to be sharper than most, and some features reminded him of the many tales of dragons, holding some of the same features. after all, her hair was colored as two of the most-known dragon types.

"Well, I should be resting, but I think I am fine. And thanks, for saving my life and all..."

Sava smiled slightly, leaning back again. "It was no problem at all...I would have been guilty if I left someone wounded there to die... not a thing I do." She said, as a sharp pain came from her shoulder blades. The urge to change into a dragon coming, but she stayed in human form, not wanting to tear the place apart.

"I don't know who you are, or what you did, but you didn't leave me out there to die...and... You should get out of here, the healer is suspecting something."

She raised a brow, a bit curious, then smirked. The healer may know her from a different time she was here, when he was once wounded. But she didn't remember the healer, so, who knows. But him suspecting something wasn't good, he could call the guards on her. She stood straight, then bit her lip. Well, not she did need to run, she didn't want to be caught.

She walked over to the door, and stopped a moment. She turned to look at Dalin, and smirked evilly.

"Well, I hope you'll be fine here, and thanks for warning me. Also, who I am, and what I am, is Sava, and I am a dragon... Dragons often have dragon-slayers on their tails... anyway, I'm sure you'll see me around Taras again if you stay longer." She said the dragon part in a whisper, then opened the door to the outside, and slipped out into the night air, right then knowing someone was near, and most likely heard her.
