| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Sava walked silently towards the library, the large building was beautifully built. Now, Sava was not much of a reader, she couldn't remember the last book she read, but right now, she had a urge to read. She had flown all the way from her home to Taras, just to come to a library. Maybe if she liked books more, she would get some for her house, make the place more full. She walked up the stairs to the main doors, and went in. She didn't seem very out of place anymore, her hair was still the same color, black and green, and short, just past her ears a little, but she didn't wear traveling clothes. She wore a dark blue flowy skirt, and a black long sleeved shirt, the sleeves opening to be bell sleeves. She wasn't one for skirts or dresses, but she felt a bit more comfortable. At her side, hung a usual sword, her Blade of Air. It was slender, and most beautiful. At her heels, trotted a baby dark umbra, it was still growing. Inside, there were thousands of books, some would think it most beautiful, and Sava sort of did, but then again, there were so many, how could she even choose one. She shrugged, she would most likely find one, hopefully one on tactics, even though, she didn't really need to know about that, she fights in her own. She went browsing along the books shelves, looking at the titles, none seemed to interest her much, but oh well. Soon she came to fighter tactics history, and so on and so forth. Sava picked out a book about fighting styles and such, though, she doubted it would even intrigue her. She took the book to the middle of the library, where tables were set, with other people at them. Some would look up, but then not pay any attention to her. They were all quiet, the entire library was quiet, it was terribly annoying. She sat at a table, and the book on top of it, and opened to the first page, reading it, while Felix, her umbra, lay down at her feet, dozing off, as his master read. |

(I'm really sorry this is so late - what with school starting and everything, I haven't had time.) The library was a safe haven for those that aren’t very often safe. It was comforting, somewhere to hide when he was being chased, or feeling down. There was always a mass of watchmen hanging around outside the building, and someone would have to be either very skilled or very stupid to attempt to kill somebody inside. The building had a no-weapons policy, with a few exceptions, so Lysan had left his longsword outside in the baggage room. He knew he wouldn’t need it, and it was heavy – so why bring it? Sound logic, it seemed to him. He came to the library often; the librarian was a nice guy who always helped Lysan find something to read, if he didn’t know what he was looking for. However, today, he knew exactly what he wanted – it would have helped him greatly had he read it before the fight that had broken out in one of the lesser known pubs, for it was all about how to camouflage in the middle of a crowded room. His nose still hurt from where the chair had hit him. And then the escape before the City Watch arrived was very dangerous – the bar was unusually full, and lots of people running towards a single door at the same time creates mass confusion. He’d barely escaped before the guard did turn up – he’d seen them lead away several people, watching from a rooftop. Anyhow, that was yesterday, and today, he had decided never to let if happen again. Surprisingly, he also knew exactly where the book was located, which didn’t generally happen. The library contained so many books it was hard to know what was where – there were sections on what seemed to be just about everything. He wandered through the mess of bookshelves ‘til he came to an aisle that had the sign ‘fighting styles’ above it. He strolled over to the place where it stood, and sighed when he saw the gap. ’Right, I’ve had it up to here with people taking the books I want. I’m going to find this damned book and tell whoever’s got it to go get another.’ He wouldn’t, obviously, saw it so angry or noisily as he had thought it, or he’d get chucked out and probably wouldn’t be allowed to come back in for a while. No, he’d sit at the tables and read the covers of books until he found the bookworm that had it. He walked angrily, yet quietly, to the reading area where tables were being read at, and sat down. Two familiar sites greeted his eyes – the book, which he immediately forgot about; and a dragon. |
