| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

((OOC: this is before AD had any of her Summoner Levels.)) Back in Taras, for better or for worse. AD had drifted through the streets with the crowds for most of the day, not really ready to go to the Library first thing. She had come here to go there, but now that she was actually here she couldn’t actually do it. Not yet anyways. So she wandered around in hopes of finding a distraction. It was late evening by the time she found herself at the docks. Her curiosity soon drew her to a small group of about six or so people. Most were men, but at least two women were there. They were in a loading dock, with crates and boxes about them. A few barrels serving as seats. As she approached there were the sounds of laughter and a bit of good natured teasing. They were rolling tiny and rather unusual looking bits of stone on the ground. AD drifted closer as she saw them call out as the stones were rolled and then, if they guessed right there were grins and congratulations. If the guess was wrong they passed around a bottle of a clear liquid that smelled a bit sweet to her. Fully intrigued by this game she joined the group, sitting atop a barrel herself for a bit as she tried to figure out how the game worked. There were three different little rocks. Each one was a different shape. One looked like a simple coin, but it was a flattened rock. One side was 1 and the other 2. The second one looked like a badly made stone caltrop. It was numbered up to four, one number for what ever point was up. The third was the hardest to guess, as it was numbered up to six and looked like a little box. One man picked up the rocks and put them in a cup. He looked at the man across from him with a raised eyebrow. The man shouted out, “Evens!” and the man with the placed his hand over the lip of the cup , shook it, and dumped it out for all to see. 2, 3, and 3. He was passed the bottle and took a swig. Then it was someone else’s turn. “Even.” a woman who looked like a barmaid said sharply. The man with the cup repeated his little ritual. 1, 4, and 2. Cheers went around and she was given the cup with the rocks in it. “Ya ever play dice?” The man next to her leaned over and asked in her ear, the bottle in his hand. She shook her head and the man grinned. “Just watch then. Feel free to join whenever you want.” “What are you drinking?” AD asked the man. “’tis Fire Water my girl! Best in the land.” The bottle was then snatched out of his hand and the man who had apparently just lost downed some of the ‘Fire Water’ and the next round began. |

How droll. Lanilmathien soon found herself utterly bored with everything happening around her. Shopping was one of the things the female loved --despite being a Sorceress, Future Dictator, and overall jerk of the world, Lanilmathien was never the less a woman. She liked the Shop, and even though there was not a drop of criminal activity in her shopping -besides where she got the money from-- and she liked to keep it that way. She was one to quite enjoy the carrying of bags which contained parcels in which she totted around with pride. Dresses, shoes, spells, weapons, antiques. It didn't matter --if she liked it, she would kill to have it, and that was generally a truthful statement. When it came to her shopping, however, it suddenly became figurative, and then became the fact that she would pay through the teeth to have it, but she wouldn't let anyone know that. No one that knew her, at least, or anyone whom she was bargaining with. She soon, however, grew bored with the very promise of shopping. It was so boring after a while, something which was not frequent for her, and she forgot every thought on the matter, deciding instead to busy herself with other things. What did it really matter? Dressed in divine silks and fabrics, she made her way to the Suite she rented for the week in a local Inn and changed swiftly into a simplistic roaming outfit. At times like this, she enjoyed going and playing games by the docks, so she could have a tad bit of fun, and drink while at it. She didn't get drunk too easily, but she could get drunk. Eyes alight by the very promise of drinking, Lanilmathien removed the Black silk gown and slipped into a pair of leather riding pants, a blouse and corset, and a pair of black riding boots. Her bow disassembled and slid into the proper compartments, waiting to be pulled out and fired via the six arrows she had on her body, just in case. When it came down to it, Lanilmathien did not need a weapon anymore --she was a weapon. Her magicks were strong enough to take down most people, and she knew it. Sure, she was no specific Magic user extraordinare, but she was getting closer and closer as the days drew by. She liked the mere thought that she was going to tough it out sooner or later. How awesome, she considered, knowing you weren't the best and not much caring. She had other thoughts --conquering all Magic in Imythess aside, of course-- about tonight. Checking her pale, divine complexion in the mirror, she quickly slid out the door and unto the streets. Within moments she was in the docks, and her cat-like gaze swept the area for view of anyone. She needed to be sure she was safe, she reminded herself, and she used a plethora of magick spells to ensure said safety, mainly her Farsight ability, looking into the shadows the best she could. Magick was, in the end, her forte, but she could handle a bow with ease, though a sword was a tad bit more difficult. She sauntered her way down the alleys and streets, sticking to shadows as not to let anyone look at her for lingering glances. It often got them in trouble, especially in this particular get up, and she would rather not get peeved before she had some liquor in her system. Another female was there, beside the normal gang, and she slipped up close, recognizing her from somewhere, but not really bothering to know where. Without a word, Lani dropped next to the man whom the new girl was speaking to and grasped the bottle, drinking without a word and handing it back, running her hand over her mouth as she did to wipe away and droplets remaining. "It's rather fun, darling, though you don't have to. Fire Water is quite the ravishing drink. I'm Lani --consider yourself part of the ga--Evens!--me. Damnit." She took another drink. |

A newcomer to the group, or it looked like perhaps just a latecomer; spoke to AD, taking a drink of the Fire Water. The man had never introduced himself, but she did and Aether Draka found herself responding to the introduction with a grin. “I’m AD, and sure, I’ll play.” She turned her attention to the game once more as the dice were scooped up into the cup and shaken about. She had no idea that this was a drinking game and that Fire Water was in fact vodka. If she had known, she would have never stopped by. She thought she had figured it out and decided to call out “Odds!” She was wrong, though it wasn’t really a bad thing to be wrong. Some came to lose the game, though winning involved a decent prize. When one was wrong they drank some Fire Water, to more you lost the worse you would loose, but that was the point after all. She would figure this out eventually... The bottle was thrust in her hand and she took a swig from it. The liquid was clear and slightly sweet tasting at first, but on the way down it burned. She blinked and shook her head as the bottle left her hand, taken by someone else. She felt cold for a moment, but then the burning in her throat seemed to ease and a pleasant warmth spread through her. The feeling was… interesting. No wonder they called it Fire Water. She didn’t catch who had taken the bottle or weather it had been odds or evens. She blinked and leaned forward to try and see what was happening now, her curiosity drawing her into the game before she had really even had a chance to think about it, or the consequences. She rarely thought of such things though and now simply was no place to start. |

Lanik sat in a barstool, laughing. the people were at their game again. how foolish. Watching the girl drink made him laugh. she shook her head, clearly startled. Lanik flipped a coin to the bartender. "I'll Have some firewater, if you don't mind." He said. The bartender scoffed and handed him a glass almost quarter-full of firewater. The man leaned over to lanik. "drink that, and i'll give ya the rest, kid." He said, disbelieving that such a young child would know what firewater was. Lanik could feel the gazes of several patrons on him as he snatched the glass from the bartender. his ruby eyes flared in his anger at being challenged. 'fool!' he thought to himself-and downed the contents. he reveled in the burning of the fire water, hair dancing in delight under his hat. With a dropped jaw, the bartender poured the rest of lanik's order, eyes never leaving lanik's grinning face. |

The door slammed open and a figure sauntered through. He sat down next Lanik a shouted, "Oi! Gimme some Demon Ale!" He slammed down a gold nugget on the table and said, "Ferget the change." He grabbed the glass and downed it in a single gulp. He always enjoyed the taste of demon ale, its flavor turning to a million flavors at once. From bile, to wine, it could be found in Demon Ale. Although, if you on't drink it soon, it can sometimes explode. He rose and opened the door. He could hear the seabirds, those winged rats, caw over a peice of bread. He could see the table where they played the strange game of dice. There where shouts of glee coming from it. He was drawn to ti immediantly. He placed his hand on the table and called out, "Evens!", Although he was thinking, Odds! He smiled as he grabbed the jug and took a swig, enjoying the flavor and handed it off to the next. It was wonderful. He would say the wrong answer until he was drunk as a skunk. And no one figured it out yet. |

((OOC: This is at the loading docks full of crates, not a tavern full of people... No patrons, no bartender. Just sailors, riff-raff, and any who wish to join in a daring game of wit and skill! ... that actually involves no wit or skill, just luck. Beyond that, thanks for joining in!))AD blinked up at the new people. Was this such a popular game? The one seemed to know the game already, but guessed wrong. The other had yet to join in. Perhaps he was not familer with the game then, like she had been, and was still? She leaned forward again and shouted out "Odds!" once again. She figured if she kept guessing the same thing over and over, she had to win at least once. This wasn't that once. She lost once more and took another drink of the Fire Water. It was then that the reason she tended to avoid taverns, and the reason she would never touch Fire Water again, came upon her. She was drunk. AD simply can't hold her liqueur. At least she's a happy drunk, for a while. Not sleeping made recovery a living hell for her though. She couldn't sleep off the hangover. Her cheeks flushed and a pleasant warm filling filled her. She grinned and found the game funny. She leaned back on the crate she was sitting on, which was also full of more Fire Water though she had not noticed it, and looked up at the open sky above them. The stars seemed happy too, dancing and spinning in the sky. She giggled a bit and looked back at the game. She once again felt like she had missed something. Blinking she tried to figure out what was happening now. Someone else had guessed? Was it her turn again? |

Kalarn saw the girl, drunk, with two sips. "Man, she can't hold down her liqour." It was his turn again and once again, he drank. It continued in this fashion, him drinking, her standing there, drunk. It took fifteen drnks before he actually got it wrong accidentaly. A person next to him said, "Hey, you should leave." Kalarn nodded and stood up, knocking drunkly into the table. He hiccuped and walked to where Aether was, not seeing her. He bumped into her and feel. In the moment of falling, his eyes closed and snapped open, the inner fire once again glowing brightly. He went over to one of the large boxes and hoisted himself up on one, leaning him head on the another. After a few minutes, he fell asleep a quiet snore carrying over the water. He was a usual here, sleeping on the crates that would never be sent due to fines. A few others sat on ones that would be loaded soon after they fell asleep, but he had a knack for choosing ones that wouldn't be chosen for a week or so. This time, he wasn't so lucky. The sailor smiled at him and set him down on another crate, one that was sturdy after years of being ignored by most. |

((OOC: Thank you very much for fixing your post! I appreciate it, honestly. If you wouldn't mind though, please wait for either Lánilmathién or Lanik to post first before you post again. We don't want to leave them behind!))AD thought someone had bumped into her and was surprised by it. She started to fall off the crate when the shadows came to her aid. They seemed to reach out from the night and wrap around her. She vanished quite abruptly and found herself just outside the area. She had no idea how that had happened, or that she had managed to shadow jump without trying. She looked around and recognized where she was after a moment. She started back to the game then, the world still trying to dance and spin around her. She found this absolutely hilarious and broke into a fit of giggles. She wavered more, very unsteady on her feet. The man who had invited her to join the game noticed her and came over with a bottle half full still in his hand. “Hay, hay, what are you doing? Where’d you go off to?” He hadn't seen her leave even. AD looked at him a moment trying to figure out what he was asking. Her giggles broke down as she tried to focus on his words. “Jush outsi’.” She wavered and giggled again. “The worl’ ish danchin!” A loud clap sounded off in the distance and those still sober all looked up in alarm. All those sober enough to tell knew something had just pulled into the dock. The waited, not sure who was supposed to be there at this time of night. No call went out to the dock hands though. Some stood up, abandoning the game, to draw weapons. That was when the raiding party showed up. Pirates armed to the teeth with all sorts of… mostly rusted… weapons charged blindly into the holding dock. AD just looked at them blankly, trying to figure out where they came from. |

xxDRINK.for.FUNxx She took another swig. And another, and yet another. There were too conclusions someone could draw from her incessant problem at drinking: One being that she either totally sucked as this game and had very poor abilities guessing the wrong answer; the other was much more common in the circle, and of course thought of numerous times before her, and involved her going against her lucky-guess in her head and shooting for what she thought was the wrong answer. Lánilmathién, however, didn’t get drink –quite unlike two other patriots in this fun game. She could drink all she wanted, and something in her blood gave her an unnatural tolerance for alcohol. Oh, she felt a gentle buzz in her head, but it was nothing to be worried about. As she saw someone get up, her eyes wandered over the man, and she only rolled them again, not very interested in what he represented, nor who he was. The female, however, who later got up and staggered away, definitely did intrigue her. Arching a fine crafted eye brow, she also began to shift in her seat, not quite sure whether or not she wanted to get up. Then she heard the sound. xxthe.SOUNDxx It was loud. And, of course, it scared her half to death. The words were loud when they rang from her mouth, albeit a tad bit slurred –perhaps she shouldn’t have drunk so much? Who knew? Who bloody knew? “What in the name o’ Hellfire is happenin’ out there?” The words came out in a bit of an accent, one which she wasn’t quite sure she had meant to use, but did instead. Alright, so she was a tad bit tipsy. Not as amazingly tolerant as she thought, she mused. Definitely not. She arose with a tinge of defiant nature and she stepped towards the female, eyes dancing on her. Did she know her? She couldn’t remember. Twirling her hair in one hand, the long, raven-colored tendril fluttering in a curl around her finger as she continually twisted. Let’s play the dumb one, she mused. “Let’s go see what’s happenin’!” [[Much shorter then normal, but wayyyy out of inspiration. Blasted muse! -Shakes fist-]] |

Kalarn had heard the clap and started. He could see the pirates with rusty weapons and he laughed. A scornful, your-pathetic, laugh. He drew his sword, slashing one of the pirates in the process. He loved to see the gleam of the blade in the moonlight. He spun, slashing another, and cutting the cloth of another's shirt. He still spun, the effects of the booze still affecting him. The sword caught on the cloth and the entire shirt tore from the pirate. The pirate stopped and lashed at him. Kalarn dodged and slashed at him. The blood splirted, coming out in pulses. Some of the blood went in Kalarn's mouth, and he savored the taste. He slashed another pirate, this time, the pirate was or signifigant rank and the blood instead oozed out of the cut. Kalarn slashed of the arm and drank the blood greedily. He as going berserk. He tried to hold it back for a few seconds, but the pain was too great when he resisted. His eyes grew a red ring around it, showing berserkness. Kalarn slashed as much as he could, drinking the blood from the wounds. He slashed many and some of them must of been players of the game. It took a great amount of time and effort for him to become sane once again. He saw a barrel of Demon Ale and drank it. This time it went, Wine, Sludge, Water, Blood, Ale, and then blood again. He reveled in the taste of it and ssat down, satisfied. |

((OOC: sorry for the long wait ))AD found herself standing with a half bottle of Fire Water in one hand and a puzzled look on her face. When they first showed up she had thought it was funny, but now… now things were not funny. The man who she had spoken to first, the man who had handed her the bottle and pushed her towards the street with the orders to “Get out of here, Now!” had just fallen. She looked at him, ignoring the rest of what was happening for a bit. Then, someone stepped in the blood pooled under the man she had believed was a friend, someone who had tried to help her even though she didn’t think she had needed it. She looked up at the stranger. She didn’t recognize them but decided she could ignore the weapon being swung at her. Sanctuary surrounded her as she shrugged her bag off her shoulder and knelt on the ground. Absently she placed the half-full bottle in her bag and pulled out a wand. She looked at it for a moment, then walked past the fighters and knelt next to the fallen human. AD knelt and drawing the tip of her wand through the blood to reveal the wooden planks of the dock below Aether Draka drew a circle and inscribed its purpose before standing up. Without even thinking about it, she cast the spell. She staggered back, still a bit tipsy, and watched as the blood sizzled and then burned away as a ring of fire replaced her drawn circle. The fire grew until is looked humanoid, a man of fire, a fire elemental. AD pointed an unsteady hand in the direction that the pirates had arrived from. “Stop the fighting. Kill them if you must, but stop it!” The elemental grinned and picked up one of the wooden crates near by. The crate clanked as the glass bottles inside clanked together. The dry wood caught easily and when the crate was thrown it broke apart, the glass bottles breaking. Why it was called Fire Water was now known… the fire ran red hot along the spilled Fire Water, racing across the wooden docks and setting them ablaze. The blaze was growing quickly, very quickly. Aether Draka started to feel sick then, from casting spells while drunk. She staggered back to the street and stumbled out to fall in the middle of the pathway. Her wand fell from her fingers and rolled a foot or so away before being stopped by a larger cobblestone. |
