Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

He was... somewhere. There was an arch of light up some stairs, a doorway perhaps. And then there stood infront of him a dark figure comprised of shadows. Rothardan struck at the dark figure and hit it, but it merley split into two people. He struck again and again and again but figure kept on multiplying until it struck. Rothardan was hit with 12 knives from all different directions, each one barbed so that it would hurt that much more... the pain was unbearable. And then a 13th knife came for him, right between his eyes.[/I]

Rothardan awoke in a sweat from his tavern bed, once again recovering from the nightmare he had. Wiping his head, Rothardan looked at himself and saw that he was all sweaty and hot. Not nice. He was having the same dream as usual from when he came back from Arda, the same dream that plagued his mind. And it always ended the same way, him dying horribly and painfully. Wow, it was... well, it was a nightmare. You try figure how horrible it was.

Rothardan got out of his bed and placed on some clothes. He didn't bother putting on his armour, since there was no-one to fight at the moment. And he only took his Force Blade for protection, since it was night and there was little chance of any trouble coming from the citizens with all the guards around. It was the birthday of Imythess, and there were celebrations all around. It was four years since the current ruler of Imythess had been coronated, and every year there was a celebration that was held to make sure this was remembered.

Rothardan didn't feel much like celebrating, no, he didn't feel like doing much at all. These nightmares were effecting his sleep and making him more darker in personality. He had bags under his eyes from where he had woken up time and time again from his nightmare. In the end, Rothardan opened one of the larger windows and looked into the night sky. Then, he jumped out of it without a second thought. Everything slowed down at that point, and Rothardan felt the cool breeze of air go through his body. And then he spread his angelic wings, his wings from his solar infused that he had so missed, and flew off into the night like a creature of the darkness.

How he missed the feeling of flight, the weightlessness of it all. His body nothing but a feather and his wings swooshing through the night air. He flew around the Taras wall, taking in the sights of the party that was being held for the week. The streamers and the confetti were being cleared away for the next day and the banners were still standing. Rothardan flew off again, climbing height until he found himself a church spire to sit on. Landing ever so gracefully, Rothardan looked down at the city of Taras and smiled. He had missed being here for so long and loved every bit of Imythess.

...if only he wasn't having these nightmares that were effecting his sleep all the time.

((OOC: I haven't RPed with you yet, so I will!))

Aether Draka was starting to really like this city, the city of Taras. It was a good place to be, specifically at night. She didn't have so much to worry about when it was dark outside. She wondered though, how safe getting so close to the darkness was. She didn't want to go all out and join ranks with the demons she once sought to slay, not until she really felt she had to at least, but she had a problem now. Now someone she had felt was a friend, someone she had trusted as an angelic being, had broken that trust. She was a bit spiteful about it, feeling that the angels truly had abandoned her to the demons and their kind. She didn't want to be evil... but she was having so much trouble with the concept now adays. She once thought she knew, but now... now she was wondering if being angelic automatically makes you good and being demonic automatically makes you evil. She had both bloods inside her and still, like now, they felt as if they were bent on destroying each other, and that meant killing her.

So, she had fled, as if that would really help. She was apt to run away from things she felt she couldn't handle or that she didn't like though, so in a way it made some sense. She had fled to a rooftop not far from a church, curling up by a cold chimney and simply watching the night sky as the city noise died down around her. She blinked when she saw something up in the sky and straightened real quick. As it flew past she got to her feet and looked over the top of the chimney to see if what she thought she saw was really what she had seen. It was an angel of sorts, but not Gregory. Someone different. She smiled, her curiosity taking hold and causing her dark and light side to stop their bickering for a moment as they too assessed this stranger. Curiosity won though and she moved around the top on the chimney and across the rooftop to the next, hopping down to the lower one and up to the top of it to see if she could get closer to this new angel. In a way, this was a test for her. Would he spurn her too? Time to find out.

Just because he was lost in his thoughts, didn't mean that he couldn't ignore his detect evil sense. It was quite simple really, whenever someone of Chaotic Alignment came near to him, then his detect evil sense would trigger. The stronger the evil presence, the stronger the sense would thump in his head. This time the sensation was strong, not too strong but strong another to suggest this person had some chaotic alignment within them.

Turning around to look at the direction that the sounds of footsteps were coming from, Rothardan could see someone. This person was running across rooves to come to Rothardan's direction. The Paladin put his hand near his Force Blade, hoping that violence wasn't going to be neccessary at all. Something in his blood told him however that it wasn't going to be one of those violent encounters. This was good, because he had no armour on and the only thing he had was his blade to protect him.

Rothardan could see that this person was a female, with wine coloured hair that was blowing in the wind. She was wearing well made clothes and something about her told Rothardan that she was not going to cause trouble tonight. It was far too beautiful of a night to bother causing trouble.

"Ahhh... I do believe our visitor is a Tiefling.

From beside Rothardan, a see through figure appeared from thin-air that only Rothardan could see. This figure was a silver humanoid who was much taller than The Paladin, and had silvery skin and blue celestial eyes. They also had majestic angel wings that were tucked behind them. This was the solar that was infused within Rothardan's body... and though Rothardan could see him at this point, no-one else could. That was because he was not there, the Solar was simply projecting himself so that Rothardan didn't feel like an idiot talking to himself.

"How can you tell?" asked Rothardan.

The Solar chuckled to himself,

"I wouldn't be much of a celeistal if I didn't reckognise a Tiefling." he replied to Rothardan before dissapearing.

So Rothardan waited, not saying anything... waiting for this Tiefling to make the first move.

AD saw no way to get to the roof of the church without going inside and climbing out a window or something, and the last time she had been in a church someone burned it down while she was inside. Instead she stood on the roof and looked up at the angelic man. She was debating on how to get his attention. She didn’t like to yell, not at night. Waking up people from the strange sleep that they enjoyed was something she found tend to make them mad.

She could use her new found skill and summon that roc she had met before. But there really wasn’t space for a decent summoning and he probably would take it as a threat. For a moment she just stood there, thinking.

She also had winged boots, but she didn’t know if she liked them in fact, she was tempted to sell them. Here though, they might prove useful. Aether Draka knelt for a moment to make sure her loose fitting pants she wore under wrapped around skirt were tucked in snugly and out of the way of the small wings on the side of her boots. Satisfied that that would work she paused to debate if she should just ask her fly dragon to go up there, but no, it had vanished into her bag to sleep too. No need to disturb him.

It was then, after that pause on the nearest rooftop, that she took to the air. It was an odd way to fly and she didn’t know if she really liked it as much as flying with someone who had real wings. There was a raw power to true flight that her boots simply didn’t match. She rose up from the roof and through the air to the edge of the church’s roof. She didn’t go all the way up to where he was, as she really didn’t want to seem to be attacking him or anything. Instead she sat down and looked up at him, hoping for some sort of response as her mind wandered a bit.

Churches weren’t really bad things. She had been to many and in a way, she missed going. She wasn’t willing to go to one on her own accord though. She tended to get into trouble in churches, even if it really was not her fault or even the fault of anyone in the building. Close enough not to have to yell now, she decided to go ahead and say something.

“Hello. Why are you up there?”

((OOC: I didn’t get her boots from the shop, but from the last Imy birthday party. They allow her to fly like the spell.))

Rothardan didn't need to turn around to investigate what this person was like. He had honed his detect evil sense to also detect the spectrum alignment of the person. Everyone had an alignment that helped them go about their life... and so he tried out his detect alignment sense. He gazed upon the inside of this stranger's soul and saw that she was slightly chaotic, but not evil.

So Rothardan looked at this person and tried to smile, though he probably looked like he had a bad tooth-ache. It wasn't his fault, he was tired and needed sleep despite the fact that his sleep was always full nightmares that woke him up. Sooner or later though, he would need to get some sleep... or he would do something rash and reckless.

The stranger was close enough to talk to Rothardan now, and she did so:
“Hello. Why are you up there?”
Rothardan looked around at the view as if there was something to see, but there wasn't. It was all boring, even the guards were yawning down below.

"I couldn't sleep, nightmares and such... what about you? What's your excuse?"

((OOC: it’s fine, though technically AD is both good and evil, a chaotic mix of the two. I keep forgetting to post that somewhere. XD Sorry! She is evil by nature or in habit but has good intensions and likes to think she is good.))

“Nightmares?” she asked and shook her head. “I don’t sleep, never have. So I wouldn’t know what it’s like to dream, or have nightmares. I know others sleep and even though I don’t understand it I know most people don’t like to be woken unless something important is happening.”

For a moment, she let the thought that he was obviously somehow angelic fade from her mind. What it meant suddenly didn’t matter too much. She became lost in her own thoughts as she felt the two sides of he soul begin to bicker back and forth again, the dark side, now the more powerful of the two sides, attempted to surround and smother her light side. A wave of dizziness came over her and she was glad that she was already sitting. AD closed her eyes and shouted at both sides mentally to stop it right now. Unfortunately, they ignored her entirely.

Not wishing to bring her internal battle to anyone’s attention, she simply lay back on the roof so that, should she get dizzy again, she was already lying down. Looking up at the stars for a moent she gathered together what she could of their very short conversation and was able to ask him a question in turn. “What was your nightmare like?"

((Sounds like you're character is infact True Neutral then, maybe she's suffering from alignment drift? PM me if you want to find out your character's alignment.))

Didn't sleep? Wow... to not sleep sounded a bit weird to Rothardan. The Paladin loved to sleep when he got the chance, and used to enjoy it. He didn't dream though, he simply drifted off and enjoyed the peace. But now he was dreaming, and he wasn't enjoying it. He preferred to just have his peaceful dreams back in one peace.

It was then that his detect evil and detect alignment senses began to shift together. It caused Rothardan some discomfort, he was beginning to fell all hot and sweaty across the forehead. His detect alignment spell was shifting down to chaotic and his detect evil spell was shifting down to evil. Then they both rose up to good before going back to chaotic good.

Rothardan placed his hands on his head and shook them, his latent spells were going off the wall ever since he was suffering from lack of sleep. Dear god, it was very discomforting and even nauseating. He had to take several deep breaths to make sure that he wasn't going to puke over the side or something.

Rothardan heard the question about his dreams and brushed the question off with a smile and a shrug. He wasn't about to go into that sort of thing now.

He didn’t answer her question and so, she waited, the silence dragging on until she started to become annoyed with it. If he didn’t want to talk about that he could have at least given her some other topic to talk about. If he didn’t want to talk, then fine. She stood up and looked out over the city and a longing to fly came over her. She had flown over this city before, her first time flying in Imythess actually. She smiled and shoved the bickering between her dark and light sides to the back of her mind so she could ignore them. Instead she called on the shadows of the night and a black circle appeared in the air before her before she had finished pulling out her wand. The spell was much easier after she had gotten help learning how it worked from Seele.

She summoned a huge bird into the very air, a roc, which was quick to take wing in the night sky. She stood and waited for it to come closer, meaning to keep her promise to this bird that the next time she summoned her they would go flying. Her thoughts had gone from the man who was still right behind her. She decided that it didn’t matter, he didn’t want to talk so that caused her curiosity to hit a dead end. Something else now had her attention.
