Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Sava loved Taras, she always came back, even if she gets hunted down, but she now, hardly cares. Taras was more of a home to her, then anywhere else, besides the forest. She always dragged herself here, traveling always back, maybe because she was afraid to stay out in the wilderness for so long, she didn't know, it may have confused her a little, but her mind decided to wander elsewhere as she landed on a roof. Her dragon form melting away, and soon she stood there as a human. Her hair was short again, this time to her ears. The green in it seem brighter. Her strange eyes, were also brighter, there weren't many green specks anymore though, and her eyes were a bit more looking like dragon eyes.

Sava cracked her knuckles, as habit, then went to the edge of the sloping roof, looking down over the edge, wondering how to get down. Slowly, and carefully, she pulled out a rope from her backpack, as she tried to keep her balance on the roof. When the rope was in her hands, she bent over and got in a sitting position, and looked around where to put it. Angrily, she didn't found anything, so she put the rope back, and thought a moment.

Finally really annoyed, she grabbed the edge of the roof, and slipped over the side, holding tightly to the roof, then, let herself fall to the cobblestone street below her. Luckily, it was only a small two story building. When the hit the ground below, the air was knocked out of her, but she quickly regained it. Her back hurt, but like she care? No, it was a minor sore, and she wouldn't even bother with it. She stood up, a little wobbly, then she stood straight. The sun was shining wonderfully over the city, though, she herself was never a big fan of hot weather, but today was very nice. Walking slowly, enjoying the day, Savarkael made her way towards the market.

Today was a good day. She and Valen had found what felt like a treasure trove, well, Valen had found it. They had both managed to get new clothing, more then one outfit, and it felt nice to have new clothing and shoes that were serviceable at least. She still really didn't have true armor, but the simple soft leather felt very sturdy compared to the fragile elven cloth she had been wearing before. She didn't know that that fabric was not as frigile as it appeared; it was just that she had been taking care of a young dragon who didn't know how his sharp little claws would go right through that fabric like tiny pins.

He was much larger now, a teenager or so. His growth had slowed down rapidly and he was starting to walk around in a human guise when they were near or in cities. He had long black hair, steel gray eyes, and pale skin and dressed himself in simple clothing also; a black pair of paints, simple light gray shirt with a black and silver-trimmed doublet over that. He is unarmed, but followed closely behind her as if he really was her guard. Over one shoulder is a bag, holding their other clothing. Now that she wasn’t so worried about having decent clothing for them, she was enjoying the day. The market was open to the sky and there was countless things to look at.

Soon, she reached the market, bright colors were everywhere. Items and trinkets, and all different sizes. She saw swords, and shields and forges where blacksmiths worked. She never knew how to make a weapon, but one day she told herself she would, and she how horrible she was. She smirked at the thought, but continued to walk. She stopped at a weapon place, there was a table outside, blades were set out over the table, in sturdy scabbards. All of the swords hilts were delicately made, with jewels, and other patterns on it.

She walked over, and ran her hand down a beautiful blade that seemed to be on display, a new blade that was made. It had a slender blade, and a wonderful hilt, and she knew without having to hold it, that is was balanced and light. She wanted to hold it and swing it around a little to try it, but it was crowded and the owners wouldn't let her. Turning her back on the shop, she walked towards the edge of the market, and looked at the bustling people, and looking over the stands. Suddenly, her shoulder blades started to hurt, a piercing pain. Must've been the fall, she thought, ignoring the sharp pain.

Soon after, she sensed a familiar feeling, sort of, it seemed like a dragon was near, but then a human, or something. She shook her head. If there were more dragons walking around in human form, then why would she care? But a nagging feeling wanted to go and find the source, but she stayed put, and leaned against a building, but before, she took her pack off and put it at her feet. A small thumping noise of Blackquill wanting to get out, but Sava also ignored that.

With such a light mood and so much activity under the open sky she felt… at ease. Things were going well, or at least better. She was just glad she hadn’t been forced to steal the clothing she, and Valen, had so desperately needed. She then looked to the dragon in human form, about to ask him if he had anywhere he wished to go now that she had what she had wanted.

The steel dragon wasn’t behind her though. She stopped and turned around to look for him. He had paused further back, his head turned to look at something. Era back traced, threading her way through the crowd until she reached him. “Valen, what are…”

“I think that’s a dragon too.” He said, gesturing to a figure who leaned against the wall. She was dark haired and seemed human to Era, but so did Valen right now. She supposed that was the point and she mildly wondered if a human would have been a better creature to possess then this elf. But she had a promise, an agreement, to keep. Perhaps they should find that healing hall she had heard tale of instead. She shrugged and started to walk away. Valen didn’t follow, his steel gray eyes still watching the girl he said he though was a dragon. Era sighed.

“If you are so interested in knowing, why don’t you just ask her?”

He looked away from her then, his attention turning to Lady Era as he protested. “I can’t do that! What if I’m wrong?”

“So ask in draconic.”

“That’s still rude.”

“Then let’s go.” She started to continue on their way and saw him look back at her.

“If only I could tell what sort of dragon she is.” He said wistfully. “I’m not sure if all dragons can become human.”

“That’s enough, come on already!” Era rolled her eyes and caught his arm in hers. She then stared to walk right for the girl.

Soon, the feeling she got was stronger, she sensed a dragon somewhere, and close. She looked about, but once she felt like she was being watched, she looked over towards the source of the human boy, the feeling she had was coming from him. Was he a dragon? Or was he a normal human? She returned his gaze, looking into his steel eyes, her own eyes curious, though, slightly dull. When she noticed the boy was with a woman, her eyes flicked towards the other, taking her in, then back to the boy, her curiosity only on him, and what he might be.

She watched them fight a little, or talk, whichever, and saw the woman was going to walk away but turned back, but after a few minutes, the woman directed the boy, and they walked towards her. Sava silently watched them, as her hand slid over the hilt of her blade of air, as habit when people come near her. She glanced at her back, the muffled sound of Blackquill trying to get out was starting to be annoying, and now the fly dragon was shouting in telepathic, annoying Savarkael more, and more, after a moment, she kicked the bag, obviously hitting the fly dragon, and the noise stopped, while she did that, her gaze never left the boy.

When they were near, she smiled, a calm smile, while her eyes flashed a little, making them seem a little more draconic, but they were back to looking like human eyes just as fast, except for there odd coloring.

"Greetings." Was all she said, in common.

Era lead her friend over to the building and stopped about four feet away. The girl was easier to see now that they were closer. From what Era knew of humans though, green was not a normal color for hair, but the way it looked, mixed in with the rest of her dark hair, it could be died. She turned to him and raised an eyebrow. “Well? Go on.” Valen shifted his sight uneasily from Era to the girl who had just said ‘Greetings’ in common. He wasn’t sure why Era was doing this to him and he shifted his feat uncomfortably and looked down.

“Do you want me to ask?” Era said to him, finding it quite amusing that he was getting so awkward over this. She had never seen him like that before. The steel dragon was normally very confident and sure of himself. He was a learned dragon too, taking many hours a day to simply read the books he kept borrowing from the library here in town.

“Um, no.” He muttered in common and then turned his attention to the girl he was nearly positive was a dragon in human form too. He tried his best to hide the fact that he had no idea why he was doing this. “Greetings?” He asked in Draconic.

Lady Era smiled to herself as he did a slight head bob that would have nearly passed for a bow if he had been in his draconic form. She looked to the girl to find out her response. Era only knew a limited amount of Draconic, what Valen had taught her at least.

((OOC: I love this; I’ve based Valen after one of my best friends so this is actually a lot of fun to post! I wonder if he would be flattered or embarrassed by this…))

After talking, Sava stayed quiet, though, the thumping in the bag started up again, and the corner of her mouth twitched a moment, in annoyance. Can't the stupid fly dragon leave me alone? She asked herself, but she ignored it. She smirked a little, when the boy looked uncomfortable, and uneasy, but the girl urged him on, she found it amusing, and fun, better entertainment then Blackquill. Right when she thought the boy wouldn't say anything, Blackquill, burst from the bag, making a hole, obviously, she used her magic to help her get out, and then, the fly dragon flew around Sava's head shouting in telepathic, then, before the boy talked, she reached up and grabbed Quill, in her fist, making it be quiet, then the boy talked.

He had said "greetings", in draconic. She smirked again, then decided to answer.

"So, you are a dragon. The curiosity was going to kill me." She returned in draconic, looking the boy over again, then looked back at his steel gray eyes. Wonder what type of color he is, or what kind... she thought, wondering, still holding the fly dragon in a tight grip as it tried to escape her grasp, but whenever she was near out, Sava gripped tighter.

She glanced at Lady Era, wondering who she was, and why the boy followed her, then again, all dragons have friends, or they can, Sava does, she has a lot, though, doesn't travel with them, she always go her own way, but, what way is that now? She traveled Imythess, almost all over, except near the temples, she avoids those places, for her own reasons, mostly because she doesn't respect gods, and goddesses, she hates them all for her own reason.

Silently, again, she waited for the boy to speak, or the girl.

For just a moment, Valen had a stupid grin on his face, relived by the fact that he got an answer back in draconic. The grin left as he tried to think of what to say next. Era shook her head as he stood there for a moment. Then he realized he should probably introduce himself, and Era.

“Hello, I’m Valen and this is Lady Era… sort of… well…” He said in draconic then trailed off. She had noticed that, for some reason, Valen didn’t like to talk about the fact that Era really wasn’t who everyone was seeing. He didn’t seem to have a problem with it, but it was like he thought it was some sort of secret or something. Like anyo0ne really knew what a Traveler was anyways. It wasn’t like she was infused or something, she was just using this body to protect herself and in turn keeping the elf alive until a cure could be found. Era was also the one looking for the cure, so technically she had as long as she wished to use this body, it’s memories, and to try and avoid Mladen’s nightmares.

Era laughed then, finding this too funny to no do so. “Sorry.” She said as his embarrassment seemed to get even worse. He fell silent and looked down, his fingers tugging at the top of the bag that held their new clothing. With a grin still on her face she turned to Sava. “Hope you don’t mind me not using draconic, I’m not that good with it yet. I’m ‘borrowing’ this body. She is Lady Mladen, but you won’t be talking to her. She’s in a comma. I’m a Traveler, from the Elemental Plane of Fire. And you are?” Era spoke in common, simply because she didn’t know all the words in draconic. How did one say borrow or comma in draconic? She supposed she could ask, but it that seemed rather cumbersome. They all spoke common after all.

Savarkael smiled, when the boy spoke again, he was a really shy dragon, though, she didn't mind, he seemed young. "Nice to meet you, Valen." She said, still smiling, then her eyes flicked over the girl, who laughed, and Sava cocked her head slightly, then Era spoke.

"I do not mind, I'm not used to speaking draconic in human form, not a thing I do when I'm pretending to be human." She said, and laughed a little. "Pleasure to meet you both, Valen, and Lady Era... I am Savarkael Nightwind, and half-breed dragon, part black, and part green, I hope you don't mind that, I'm not like the others of those pathetic races." She said, sometimes, she wished she was only one part of a dragon, not a black and green, but there was no way to change such things.

She thought a moment, what Lady Era told her, made Sava curious, for a moment, she looked at the crowds, and without noticing, Blackquill got free, and was once more flying in the air, over Valen's and Lady Era's head, and talking nonstop in telepathic to Sava, talking about the two people here, and asking why they were here, but she didn't listen, she was wondering about more things, after a moment, she looked at them both.

"...So, this Lady Mladen is in a comma?... Why is that?" She asked, a bit curious about this girl and the boy.

“Actually, I don’t know why she is in a comma, just that she is sleeping, dreaming, and can not be woken. Supposedly I’m supposed to be finding a cure for her, but I really have no where to start. I’m sure I’ll figure it out sooner or later. Elves have very long lives after all, comparable to dragons I believe. Though I do think she is a bit fragile.” Era replied with a shrug. She really didn’t mean it as lightly as she was saying. She had signed a contract and was actually bound by honor to either cure Lady Mladen Ornell or, if no cure is possible, at least return the elven girl safely home. She didn’t think she would be able to return her home without the cure though. She was getting to know her very well after all. They were sharing the same body and she had access to all the elf’s thoughts and memories.

Valen seemed to relax some as they started talking to each other. He didn’t mind hanging about while Era talked to her, but he was never sure of what he could or couldn’t say. Era was not like other people, others would keep the fact that they were using a body that wasn’t their own to themselves. The story was always the same though.

He was about to say he was a Steel Dragon, though he was almost sure that she wouldn’t know what a steel dragon actually was. There were so few of them around after all. Before he could though, a figure came dashing between them, snatching up Sava’s bag. It was a thin human with greasy dark brown hair in grungy clothing and dressed like a young boy. There was a fifty-fifty chance it wasn’t a boy though. Without a thought, he started after the human who was running full tilt and clutching Sava’s bag to his, or her, chest.

“Stop!” He warned as he too took off running, doubting the thief would listen. That was all the warning he was going to give. You don’t steal from a dragon.

Sava listened and wondered a bit more. When Era mentioned elves, her eyes flashed with hatred a moment then back to normal. She hated elves, well, hated moon elves anyway, only because of Fios, she thought all moon elves to be pathetic wimps. "I do not know if there is a cure, though, I've never tried to find one, though, I have tried to find a cure for dreams..." She said, thinking of her dreams that haunt her, and she really has been needing one, she has been recently been dreaming of her mother, who seems to be looking for Sava.

"If I can help, I will be willing, I am staying here for a while, and I have nothing else to do at the moment, except explore more, and find more escape routes, the pathetic humans never give up trying to slay me." She said, and smirked. Suddenly, the boy, or girl, ran past, snatching Sava's backpack, and running off, and then Valen quickly followed, and yelled stop.

Sava, stood there are moment, and gave a deep growl that no human could back in their throat, and then started striding in the direction the thief and Valen had taking, and while striding, she pulled out her lightning blade, anger, and hatred clear in her eyes, and to the humans and elves around, some even backed away from her, and without knowing it, she used the spell cause fear, making anyone around her suddenly terrified of her.

“Dreams might actually be her problem too. What…” Era stood there for a moment and blinked as Valen and Sava both took off after some one who had also apparently taken Sava’s things. She sighed; annoyed by the interruption of what could have been a useful hint to finding a cure for Lady Mladen Ornell. That now was apparently going to have to wait. Valen disappeared around a corner. It was of course perfectible acceptable to chase after a thief, she would be more surprised if they didn’t follow after all. She didn’t see a reason she had to run also though. She could fly. She focused for a moment and felt her wings materialize, like a hundred dragonfly wings. In truth they were more like crystallized fire, Fire and air… she lifted off the ground and up over the rooftops, taking no heed of how odd such a thing would appear to anyone else there. She glided easily through the air until she saw them below her. She traced her eyes along the path of the rouge and noticed a small ally off to one side. She moved there and landed. Even before she had released the power that created her wings, she had moved around the corner. They were now running right for her.

Valen was slowly catching up, though the human thief was doing a good job of bumping into things so they would fall in the path of his pursuers. That also meant he wasn’t looking too far ahead of himself. Perfect. She cast invisibility and in lass then a second had simply vanished. Now she only had to remain in the path of this soon not to be thief.

Valen was in fact having to dodge obstacles, ducking under partly toppled tents and scattered good and the owners of those goods as they attempted to rescue them. He was not going to be detured though. He spotted a guard then and shouted to catch the official’s attention. Pointing ahead of himself he shouted “Stop Thief!” in hopes that they would lend a hand. Numbers often helped… sometimes.

Suddenly, Sava went into a sprint. She was angry at the thief for stealing her things, she wouldn't let anyone take her things without herself killing them first. She looked ahead, as the rogue was hitting things over, and Valen dodging the things. Then she looked up, hearing wing, and seeing Era. Yeah, she wanting to kill the rogue for touching her precious items, but then Quill didn't want her too, but why would Sava care what the fly dragon thought. She slowed down, and looked away from Era, and jumped over shelf. She shook her head. Blackquill is a friend, not a pet. Felix is a friend just the same. Shain is a friend, Romanus is a friend. She cares for them all. She would feel bad for doing something a friend wouldn't want her to do. She couldn't, and wouldn't be able to kill the thief because of Quill being a friend.

She stopped in her tracks, and bit her lip, and then noticed Era had just cast invisibility over herself.

“Stop Thief!” Valen had shouted, and Sava looked at the guard who took notice, and went to get the thief, now also trying to get to the thief. She then went off into the sprint again, weapon still in hand. Yeah, you could say she was wanted, and that the guard may notice, but she could really care less as the moment, for herself, it was easy to escape them if they ever came after her.

She continued to dodge, and jump over things, trying to get closer, but all the rubble was hard to get through, and the others were still ahead.

The thief was not looking at her, but back behind his or her shoulder and in the path before them. So Era tip her head slightly to the right as she saw this, then turned invisible. So there she waited for a moment as the thief ran toward her.

Behind him was the two dragons in human form and now a guard had joined them in the case. Chaos was regaining, and winning. She didn’t like that; she didn’t like that at all. Not only had the thief been so rude to interrupt the conversation but outright stealing was quite illegal. A problem soon to be rectified.

She turned sideways as the thief dashed forward, and with one hand caught the bag and with the other caught the filthy shirt of the young thief. She bag wasn’t gripped to well, but she didn’t worry too much about it as the thief clutched it close and gave a startled scream at being lifted by the unseen.

As the thief kicked his or her feet for a moment, the others seemed to be able to catch up. Valen slowed and looked from the guard to Sava. By right, as a dragon, Sava had the say so on what happened to the captured thief. The cities guard had a right to punish the offender too… but dragons had their own rights and even if Sava decided not to show she was a dragon, he would be sure to have her way be enforced and had little doubt that Era would follow his lead.

“Do you have him Lady Era?” Valen asked as he sensed her there even if he could not see her. He never really saw Era anyways, just Ornell.
