| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Sometimes, it only made sense to Oppel that he return to his home. Though he had been very absent as of late, he was in no position to turn his back on the forest that had kept him alive for so many years. It was not truly of his own accord that Oppel had actually abandoned his way of life, it was due to the fact that while his soul belonged to nature, his heart was grasped by an inferior existence, a soul that would indirectly cause him to abandon his duties as protector of nature. But love is most certainly a dangerous game, one that with evident malice will strike at you and leave you damaged and broken for an eternity if it has to. Returning to the woods had not filled the empty cavity of his chest as he had hoped it would, but Oppel did find the one other thing he was looking for. A distraction, that would pull his mind away from the poisoned daggar that had been plunged so deeply into his heart. Oppel was home. It was not with direct intention that Oppel wandered into Calmonah Forest, for upon his return he did not actually desire to deal with the rampant evils that took up residence in the area. However, it seemed that such a long absence had robbed Oppel of his memory of the area. This truly made him upset, as the one thing that he once knew better than the back of his hand, now seemed to be a childish memory that blinks in and out of existence. But alas, he did not really care. Surely a peaceful visit to Norwood Lake would have lifted his spirits, but a daring visit to Calmonah would certainly keep him on his feet. The only worry Oppel possessed, was that he did not retain the seemingly limitless powers he once had as God of Nature. But he expected nothing different. If he were to have neglected his responsibilities for as long as he had and was still entrusted to his powers, then Oppel could only guess, Imythess would become a corrupted land. But still, Oppel did not turn back. If he stumbled upon an attacker, he would deal with it. His heavy heart truly gave him no remorse, no gratitude, and most of all, no fear. All Oppel could do, was continue to walk and see how things would transpire. Hopefully soon, Oppel would find a way to escape from the looming reverie that he was now a part of. |

She lay in a bundled heap on the ground, the cool grass brushing against her face as a soft breeze tugged at the tattered black cloak that she had held around her. Yes, the Goddess had found her escape from the Abyss, and though she knew not how she did it, she found herself falling, and falling quickly, her powers having fallen away from her by the time she had crashed upon the ground. Something, however, kept her alive, even as her body connected with the ground. It was almost as if she had fallen onto a mattress, but she found herself unable to move for a while. For several hours she lay there, staring off in one direction, until her ears began to hear that of approaching footsteps, and she rose her head slightly. Her world began to spin, but sat up she did, her red-colored eye staring out from behind her black hair. Her eyes were golden; for now she could not hide the Erinyes within her, nor the wings that were wrapped about her, having burst their way through her false image as she fell, leaving her back trickling blood from the skin they had pushed through. It did not, however, seem to bother her much; for her mind was now set on whatever was approaching her, whether purposefully or accidentally. She saw the form of something Elven through the darkness; for she was so used to being within the darkness, she could just make out the pointed ears. She blinked slightly and struggled to her feet, staggering slightly. All of her bags were lost somewhere, all her items within it. Probably in the Marsh were her temple once stood. She wondered who was in it now, and if someone was taking up her position, then she damned them. She would get it back—she was sure on it. She grinned wickedly, but staggered and lost her balance, holding onto a tree to keep herself standing upright. “Who goes there? Speak up, I can see you,” called her voice, which was quiet yet still holding that hateful tone within it. She almost wanted to say she recognized him, but she couldn’t even see his face. If it even was a male; for she couldn’t be too sure. Finally, her legs gave out and she sat upon the ground, her legs folded awkwardly, but she didn’t care. She awaited an answer form whoever it was, if they were even going to answer her in the first place… |

It wasn't typical of Oppel to blatantly wander, and not notice the presence of another nearby. However, he hoped that the fact that he did not notice the presence could just be blamed on the disarray of his mind, and not the fact that he had most certainly failed to hold onto his immortal powers. He heard the voice, clearly and precicesly, but played it off as though it was too faint to hear. And so, Oppel just continued to pace the area, as if he had not been aware of the being standing nearby. It was without doubt a female, and Oppel had to real desire to interact with one. Misogyny, was currently an overpowering theme in Oppel's mind at the time. As he continued to walk around and not respond to the female, Oppel knew that he was most likely agitating her. After all, being ignored is one of the worst things that someone can have happen to them. Oppel used to take advantage of this fact all the time when he was the God of Nature, and had to deal with seemingly endless amount of clueless pixies, halflings, and other creatures that had no real knowledge of nature at all. With all the practise he had, Oppel was a genius when it came to ignoring others. After some time of just simply walking, Oppel turned to face the figure who had acknowledged him. It was far too dark to see who it was, but not dark enough to completely mask the female's silhouette. One thing that Oppel could not deny, was the fact that this figure was beautiful. It was above Oppel to deny beauty, and so he decided to at least give a partial response. "Oppel." he stated as he stared at the figure, not wanting to give much more indication of anything than his name. Surely most of Imythess would recall his name. After speaking, Oppel looking up at the trees around him. Luminous, beautiful, and simply amazing. It had been so long since he had been around these wonders. He looked back at the female, and without a word or any indication at all, Oppel polymorphed into a magnificent hawk. He flapped his wings, caught a draft, and within moments, he had flown up to the tops of the trees and perched on one of the highest branchest. From there, he stared back down at the figure, just wondering. |

Ranewen arched her neck as she watched the former God of Nature fly into the trees, and she lost sight of him as the darkness seemed to wrap around him, concealing the place in which he now perched. She squinted with her golden eye, and pulled herself to her feet once more, feeling some of her strength begin to return to her. She was without a weapon, and she could faintly remember any magical spells that could help her at this point in time. She was trying to remember the words for a fire spell, but they failed to come to her, so she sank back down at the trunk of the tree, pulling her knees up to her, resting her chin atop them, wrapping her arms about her shins. She felt so defenseless, which was something she had not felt for so long a time that she almost forgot it existed. No armor to protect her, no weapons to aid her, and her magical abilities gone. She couldn’t even remember how to polymorph herself. Softly, she cursed. “I remember you,” she said and stared off into the darkness of the forest, a forest that, if her memory served her correctly, was filled with evil druids, something that she used to align herself, something that she wished to align herself with once more. Would they remember her and leave her unharmed? She shuddered at the thought of being tortured by those who used to be her very own servants. The shame…the irony…She chuckled coldly at the thought, but the smirk soon left her lips as she stared off into the distance. “It is me, Oppel; it is Ranewen. I’m sure you’ve forgotten who I am, forgotten I have existed.” Her voice was no longer soft, but not as loud as she should have made it. She was weak, though, and wearing naught but that tattered cloak about her. She had even lost her boots, and where they were, she did not know. One of her hands slid off her legs, landing on the ground, fingers grasping the rough edge of a rock. She gripped it and threw it into the darkness, and what sounds came from that direction caused a shudder to run down her spine. She had no power; she had the right to be scared. For all she knew, Oppel could have left her by now. He did not seem as if he wanted company; then again, she doubted that he ever wanted company at all. A grin spread across her lips for a moment and she let the demon within her offer her strength to aid the former Goddess to her feet, and she stood, the cloak closed about her body, being held by her folded arms. Her wings were behind her, and even if she was weaponless, to a normal human she must have looked somewhat intimidating. |
