| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The rain pelted the fields, leaving the only sound of it falling down, un till exploding into shimmers of water before finally dispersing. All other sounds were dwarfed by the water from the sky. The ground had turned muddy quickly. No work could be done in the farms in the plains, so few were outside. The Sky was dark, and gloomy. Though it was hard to tell with the clouds blocking almost all view of the sky. "Curse this ran.." mumbled Dyson. His hair was soaked, as well as his cloak and clothes. His boots were muddied, and he could feel the wet moisture on his feet. He pulled the hood of his cloak over his head, wishing he had thought of that before. He kept his piercing gaze ahead of him, watching the town get closer and closer with each step. He rubbed his cold hands thinking of the warm rooms and great drinks inside inn. He could already picture the drinks between his two hands now. "Curse this rain..." he mumbled again, as if it would stop its continuous fall. |

Sophie was spending time to wonder and see the world, feeding her gypsy heart. She had long since been done with her voyages on the pirate ship, and had made a few strong allies. She still wore what she had on the ship. A brown bandanna to keep her hair out of her eyes. It all hung back to her shoulderblades. Her white shirt stopping short to reveal a tanned flat stomach she obtained while working on the ship, and her colorful skirt blowing in every direction. The wind was picking up. She looked up into the sky " A storm is coming" She soon came into the town and the skies opened up, giving the earth below a great rain. It was refreshing at first, but soon began to get a bit out of hand. She picked up her speed as she watched townsfolk enter their houses, fleeing from the storm. She moved with grace on strong dancer legs. Sophie nimbly dodged mud and water puddles on her way to seek out shelter. She could smell the inn already and began to daydream of a hot meal and to dry out her clothes and hair. While she was daydreaming she bumped into another man that was walking the same road. She turned to the hooded male quickly " Very sorry sir" She said no more and turned around again running towards the inn that was very close now. She did not see the mans face, and knew not of his race or appearance. Because of the little to no knowledge she had of the man she soon forgot of him completely. She pushed into the inn and pulled off a wet bandanna. She shook her brunette locks out and found a seat by a crackling fire. The inn keeper smiled at her and did not come over to ask questions. There where quite a few people in the inn tonight. Most where travelers that got caught in the storm like Sophie did. Because they where travelers they where sure to have stories, tricks, talents, or at the very least an untamed soul that was always fun. |

Dyson, could see the inn up ahead. The glowing lights from the warmth within greeted him. His lips curved into a small smile. "Finally..." he said quietly. Before he could take another step though, he was knocked forward, roughly from behind. "Very Sorry Sir!" was all he heard from the person before they vanished into the Inn before he could reply. He readjusted his pose and flicked his cloak to throw the rain droplets clinging to it off. He looked over at the tavern again, and headed inside. Instantly he was barraged with the sounds of the inn. He took a quick scan of the room, making note of certain people that stuck out before heading over to the keeper of the inn. The man greeted him with a short smile with a quick, "Hello to you sir". "Get me some wine" Dyson ordered. Wine was the only drink that slipped down his throat besides water. The man quickly ran off to get his order. Dyson took this moment to pull his hood off, to let his hair dry in the warmth. His thick brown hair was soaked through, and his face was marked with droplets of water, running down to his chin. The thing that stood out most on his face though was the old rag that wrapped around diagonally across his face, blocking view of his left eye. One could easily tell he was missing the eye for a scar ran down his cheek from underneath the rag. |

Sophie watched the man come in to the inn. It was obviously the man she had bumped into from before. She soon realized she was staring and drew her gaze away from him quickly. She hoped that he did not hold a grudge against her. Sophie soon got up and moved between the people. The inn was full of merriment. Laughter, stories, and clapping filled the room. There where young men that still had their boyish charm juggling apples. There where men arm wrestling, men rolling stones fashioned into something like dice, and drinking to their hards content. Their where cheery women listening to traveler's stories, dancing, gossiping, and entertaining the men. Sophie leaned against the bar, waiting to catch someones eye. She did have money, but usually needed it for greater things then buying a drink. She would wait with coy intents, trying to lure one of the boys to buy her a drink. It wasn't long till she had one's attention. He came to her, leaning against the bar and smiling " Your not drinking pretty girl? We can't have that now..." he called to one of the bar maids " Some wine for this sweet girl!" He talked loudly in his intoxication and wreaked of alcohol. The bar maid soon delivered Sophie her drink " There you are love..."and gave her a smile. The bar maid lingered in the area for a bit, looking longingly at Sophie's face. The barmaid longed to have Sophie's youth and the pretty face that came with it. She daydreamed of her days when she was young and alive. She soon snapped out of her memories when a lady called for another glass of ale. Sophie smiled at the man " Thank you for the drink..." The man smiled and responded merrily " Tis a small price to pay to spend time in your presence." He looked into Sophie's sparkling silver eyes " You are not of human blood with eyes like that, but you lack the ears of an elf..." She talked before he could even ask his question " I am an Assmir. My mother was a gypsy and my Father a half celestial." The man smiled at her " So I am in the presence of an angel!" Sophie could do nothing but smile " Let me repay you for your sweet words." She took him by the hand and lead him through the crowd. They sat down at her table. Sophie took a sip of the sweet red wine with honey. It was a refreshing taste that slid past her lips. She turned his hand over, revealing his palm and looked into it deeply. The man was curious " What are you doing?" She answered without looking up at him " reading your palm...." She began to trace her nimble fingers along his lines and think " I am not the first girl you have been so kind too. You have a lovers soul, that can not be tied to one girl." She hesitated for a moment before continuing " I see new life and a great surprise in your future. The trophy of your loving career." Sophie was secretive in her words. What she saw for his future was a baby. An unexpected love child. She gave him his hand back and smiled " Enjoy your romance for as long as you can." With those words she got up and took her drink with her, going through the tables to where a man was telling a story of his travels. She turned back to see the man from the road sipping wine alone. |

Dyson held his wine for a long moment, looking down into the depths of the liquid. He let himself wonder into his thoughts for awhile, while listening to the stories of an old man beside him. A few women and younger men were captivated by his story of a dragon he had slain, with only his right arm. Dyson quietly laughed to himself, but kept himself amused by listening. "It was as large as this in, and it's cold wings blotched out of the sun...." the man started in a quiet voice. "My left arm was injured from one of his great claws, and i could barely lift my axe...." the very small crowed pulled in closer. "He was slowly stepping his way to me, and I knew my fate was soon near!" his voiced raised in volume, making the moment more suspenseful. "I told myself that I could not die this day though, for this was not my day!" he gazed around at the crowed then started again. "I raised my mighty axe, and roared at the dragon as he roared at me" he stood up, unhitching the axe on his leg. "I ran at him, swinging widely, left and right. Before the dragon could react I had made several cuts in him. The beast fell down dead!" Everyone in the crowd did a cheer. Dyson went back to his drink, taking a long sip before looking around the room. His attention was caught by the woman who knocked into him before and her gaze at him. He gave a smile and nod to her before sipping from his wine again. |

Sophie listened to the man's story of the dragon. He was a rather good storyteller. She clapped and cheered when it was finished, along with all the other girls. She then noticed at the stranger from before smiled and nodded at her. This was definitely a good sign that he was not mad. She got up and moved over to his table, taking a seat " Hi, I'm Sophie.... Sorry about earlier. I did not see you, distracted by the terrible downpour." She took a sip of his drink and smiled " No hard felling I hope." She looked into his eyes with curiosity. She had always had curiosity and wanted to know everything about anything. After her curiosity build up, it soon bursted " If you dont mind me asking, Where were you going before it started to rain?" She wanted to know more about this new acquaintance. |

Dyson continued to sip at his wine, only to stop as the women sat down beside him. He set down his wine, and looked over at her with a short grin. He gave a short chuckle, "No hard feelings" he simply replied. He didn't want her to feel like it was a big mistake. He pulled his grin up again, looking back at her as she looked at him. He waited like that for while, keeping his grin. He was surprised as she burst out loud her question, taking a moment to recover. "I...." he started taking another sip from his wine, "Don't know where I was headed really." He gave her a short smile, and took one more sip from his wine. "I walk, and walk.....till I feel I can't walk anymore. Some times I walk for an hour, some times a few days. I really don't know where I'm heading to" he pushed his cup forward to the bartender asking for him to fill it again with the same wine. "What about you?" he then asked looking back at her. "Where were you heading before it started to rain and bumping into people?" he gave her a small grin again. |

Sophie listened to the man intently " Oh a wanderer are you, we have something in common." Sophie giggled at his little joke at the end. She continued on telling her story " Well I was once held captive by an corrupt lord in Tara." She moved the bangles away from her wrist to show the brand mark. " A few new friends of mine had helped me escape. Now I spend my days traveling, making up for the years I had lost." Her seemingly sad expression turned now into a smile " Currently I am on my way to join a traveling carnival! That way I will have people to talk to and rely on and still be able to see the world. It should also supply me with a bit more money." She went into a daydream for a bit, thinking of the future ahead. She now talked more to herself then to the man " I don't know what I'll do when I arrive. Maybe be the fortune teller, or act, or dance,or...." She then snapped out of her trance " Oh I'm sorry I was rambling on." She took another drink of her wine " Why do you wander such as you do. I do it to make up for lost freedoms and because gypsy blood flows thick in my veins" She talked a bit quieter " But why do you wander without purpose?" Most men she met had dreams, goals, ambitions, and destinations, but this one, from what she had heard just liked to move forward. |

He kept a small grin up, while he listened carefully to her story. Only ending his frown with a feeling of compassion towards her was she told of her darker past. He almost felt like putting a hand on hers to comfort her, but she quickly changed the topic. He was quite interested of her ambitions of travelling with a circus. He himself has never heard of such a thing but he wouldn't bother her with that question, at least not now. When it came for his turn to answer her question he stiffened, staring off past her for a moment. Sadness, rage, loss, and pain overcame him as he couldn't move nor talk for a few long seconds. "I do have cause in my travels, and I also have no purpose...." he started choosing his words carefully in an almost tired sound of voice. "There is something that I believe needs to be done, yet it's impossible...no....dangerous for me to do and I'm not talking of physical danger" he picked up his newly filled cup of wine, handing the bartender his money with the other. "Now then" he began changing his voice to a more joyful one, "What's a circus?" |

Sophie went on about the carnival " Oh the carnival used to travel through my home town. I've seen it twice and wanted to join ever since I was a little girl. Basically it is a traveling caravan of all sorts of people. There are the men that carry all the supplies, fix broken things, and set up the tents and stalls. There are musicians and dancers that put on shows for the crowds. Their are jesters, jugglers, flame tamers, magicians, fortune tellers, actors, animal tamers, knife throwers, and much more people. They all come together to throw a rather large party, charging coins for entrance. Once in the Carnival areas you can play games, listen to the minstrels, dance, listen to stories, see the animals, watch the wizards work their magic, buy food, drinks, trinkets, get your palm read, and watch the acts." Memories of her days going to the carnival came back to her. They where very happy memories that Sophie clung too with all her strength. She smiled at the man " What quest is this that would be so dangerous? I would very much like to learn more of this quest! Maybe I can help you in one way or another!" She took another sip of her wine and sat closer to him, so as they could talk without people hearing, as to not let their talk become gossip. |

Dyson listened to her description of circus, fascinated with what she had to share. He imagined what it would be like to be there, and a warm smile crept across his face. He snapped out of his small daydream in time to catch the question Sophie asked. He took a moment to sip from his wine again, he thought about what his goal in life was over a few times before turning to face her with a grim face. "I lived in a place far from here, where the mountains are tall and great" he could see his homeland in front of him right now, as if he was there. "My home land was just below those mountains, we were a proud people full of great warriors" his voice was full of sadness, "We.....were attacked by the other villages near us, we hard a large war." "Unfortunately we lost it, we were overwhelmed by numbers and were unable to defend ourselves" he took a small break to sip from his wine again. "For all I know, I am the last of my people and I swear with every breath I take I will get my revenge on thoze villages..." his hands gripped the edge of the bar, twisting it with rage, letting it groan under him. |
