It had been just a few days since she had obtained her freedom. She had 3 special people to thank for that. The last time she seen the three, she had left them sleeping in an inn, leaving nothing but a note that read " I thank all of you for freeing me from my three year slavery, giving me back my freedom and my youth. I had a long brake from the real world, and much to make up for. Because of this I could waste no time in waiting for you to awake. I know for a fact we will see each other again in the future. For now my future is a mystery. Forever in your debts, Sophitia Lockhartt. She was now walking on the docks, enjoying the fresh sea air. She looked out upon the endless sea and was filled with a sense of mystery and adventure. Sophie always wanted to discover what was once a mystery to her, and it was her curiosity that would many times lead her astray. When she stopped daydreaming about her adventures to come she noticed a large ship getting ready to leave. The people packing the ship up did not look the friendliest, but few sailors did. They where large muscular men with tattoos scattered various places on their bodies. Some had scars, showing they overcame great feats on the deadly sea. Sophie found them enticing and out of the ordinary. She knew that she would not be allowed on the ship, as it was superstition that women on board a ship was bad luck. So Sophie used her sharp mind. Instead of asking and getting rejected, she would sneak onto the ship. She looked around, noticing that none of the guards where paying attention to the boxes, crates, and chests at the moment, but rather talking, drinking, or bringing the cargo on the ship. This was Sophies chance. She hurried to a wooden barrel and propped it open slightly. It was filled with pieces of cloth. She talked out loud to herself " Is this a merchant ship?" . She got into the barrel and made herself as small as possible. She began to move the clothes to the top, to keep herself hidden. Sophie sat there now. She just waited and waited. But wait, the barrel finally began to move. She felt it being lifted up and she heard the grunt of one of the sailors. Sophie became excited and covered her mouth quickly to muffle the giggles. It wasn't long after that when the barrel was put down. This was when Sophie had to wait the longest. She must wait until all the cargo is packed and the boat starts to move before she gets out. If she does not, she will most certainly be caught. |

Sophie had been in the box for a while now. The ship had been moving, and the sailors where all out of the room. Sophie pushed to top of the barrel off and peeked out. Nobody was in sight. She soon crawled out and stretched " Finally, I was itching to get out of there" Now that Sophie was out, it occurred to her that she hadn't thought her plan through. She was on the ship now, but now how was she going to do anything. The crew would most likely notice a girl wandering the ship. Sophie looked around the cargo now, prying boxes open with her dagger. She took a cloth from one of the barrels and made a bandanna, to hide her long brunette hair. She then noticed that one of the sailors left his shirt in the cargo hold. She picked it up. It stunk of sweat, but it would have to do. She slipped it over her head. It was baggy enough to hide her chest. She then slipped off her skirt and hid it away in one of the barrels for safe keeping. She scurried around more and noticed the cargo boxes all looked completely different " How strange, it looks as if they came from many different ships." She then found a chest with a few fine clothes in it. She picked through them and found pants. they where to big for her, but they would hide her feminine legs. She then took a piece of rope and fashioned it into a belt. She then walked towards the top of the large ship. She pushed the door open and walked into the breezing, sunny, salty day. The men where gambling, doing chores, and eating. Various curse words could be heard in every conversation. Sophie walked on, trying not to look suspicious. She did not have her boat legs however, and it was very hard to balance. She accidentally bumped into a crate a man was eating on and his food fell to the floor. He grabbed her arm hard and yelled " Hey buddy, what are you doing" He shoved her and Sophie fell to the ground hard, letting out a short lived scream. as soon as it came out her hand shot up to cover her mouth, but it was too late. The sailor picked her up and pulled off the bandanna, letting her long hair fall out. This drew the attention of many other sailors. The angry man picked her up rather rough, by the arm " Don't you know its bad luck to have a wench on board a ship?" The other men started chiming in and giving suggestions. in the end it was decided to make her walk the plank. It occurred to Sophie now that these sailors where not law abiding, but pirates. The man walked Sophie towards the plank. She was forced onto it. she then begged for them to stop " Wait it would be unwise to throw me overboard, for in finding me, you have had the luckiest day of your life." The pirate stopped shoving her and the crowd went silent " I am better then any map you have, and in the foggiest nights i can lead you to the biggest treasure!" The captain had heard this girls testimony, and called for the bickering to stop. He then let out a overpowering and booming voice " And how might a girl as young as yourself hold up to this promise?" Sophie gave a coy smile and continued on " Because i have a gift other young maidens do not, I am blessed with second sight. I am a seer, a fortune teller, an oracle, Whatever you would like call it. The point is, I can help you become rich beyond your wildest dreams." Sophie was a performer and her voice held a very emotional tone that seemed to be her soul pouring out for the world. The Captain of the crew was filled with greed and knew that his little stow away would help him get all the gold he could ever want. He walked towards the girl, the crew clearing a path for him. He stopped right infront of her face, staring into her sparkling blue eyes with his own glass eye. Sophie did not back down, and she held her own. The captain gave her a smile and announced to all " The girl stays and is protected on this ship by your captain himself. None of you will touch this girl!" He then turned to her and talked in a voice so low only she could here " Now go get your clothes and change, However pretty your youthful face may be, those men's clothes do not flatter you." Sophie quickly moved through the crowd of pirates, going back into the cargo hold to change. |

It had been a few days now since Sophie had been on the ship. She feasted with the captain each night, and had a makeshift bed in the cargo hold. She had been scrying since she was first employed too, but had not came up with anything yet. It was that time of the day, when the sun was directly over the ship that Sophie entered the captains room to scry once more. She walked out of the cargo hold, into the yelling, chaos, and merriment of the deck. A few of the men greeted her, others eyed her with a lustful intent, while others went on with their work without even a glance in her direction. Her hair was pulled out of her eyes with a brown bandana, and it hung messily down her back. Her shirt was torn to work with the heat. It now stopped just above her flat stomach. Her skirt was left the same, as it worked just fine with her new life on board the ship. Her skin was no longer lightly tanned, but bronzed by her days spent out on deck. She enjoyed it much more then spending her days locked up in the lords estate. Sophie knocked on the door and beconed to the Captain " It is I captain" Sophie waited patiently outside while the captain moved about his room. a few hiccups and foul expressions could be heard as he moved to the door. He opened it with a smile, his teeth in a state of disrepair " Sophie my dear, do come in!" He was in a state of drunken merriment at the moment. This was his primary condition. Sophie sat at the small table in his room and dipped a golden bowl into a barrel of water he had in the corner " I know I will find something today Sir..." She did hear his response, as she began to tune everything out, giving every ounce of concentration on the water. She waved her hand over it slowly and thought of what she wanted to see " What does the future hold if we go north?" The water began to stir and churn in the bowl as it searched for the answer Sophie sought. Finally the water went calm. To the captain it was blank, but to Sophie's eyes the water showed a picture. It showed an endless sea, an empty and lifeless place. Sophie waved her hand back over it and the water rippled and the image was gone. She then asked another question " What does the future hold for us if we travel east?" The same act happened to the water until once more it showed her an image. This one however showed a ship. The ship was full of pilgrims, heading towards a new home. Sophie's face lit up at the sight. She relayed the message to the captain " There is a pilgrim ship to the east, nothing to the north, and in the w....." The captain did not let her finish. He walked to the door and threw it open. He then took in a deep breath and bellowed out " Change of course, we now head east!!!" The boat was soon turned and continued on towards the east. |
