| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Full Name: Vladimir Leonovich Paedrov Diminutive: Dmitri Height: 6'3" Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Weight: 200 lbs. Dominant Hand: Left Element: Darkness Secondary Element: Air Physical Description: Vladimir is very stereotypically Slavic, with dark hair and eyes. He is tall, muscular, and refined in features, the product of good aristocratic breeding that based itself on looks rather than morals. Dmitri has a pair of tattoos, well-done and of high ink quality. One of them is a raven holding a black spear in its talons on his left shoulder, the other is a cleft skull on his right shoulder blade. In addition to these distinguishing marks, Dmitri also has a series of marking scars. The first is across his chest, a four-fingered claw mark left by an encounter with the undead that stretches from his right pectoral to his left lower side. The second is blade mark just above the right kidney on his back, a product of his brother. Equipment Description: Vladimir is a wandering bard, with a kit that is very light by necessity. He carries a heavy mountain ash quarterstaff, smoothed and polished to give it a healthy glow. It is runed in the language of the North. The rowan used to make the staff was a “flying rowan,” a rowan that grows in the crook of another tree, which is believed to make it even more potent protection against witches and enchantment. His clothing are a worn but well-mended suit of black, with a high-collared coat that goes down to knee-length, black pants, and a black tunic underneath. He has a worn leather case to store his harp, made of alder and strung with gut. Vladimir's harp was enchanted by a leprechaun at the St. Patrick’s Day festival in Kellen, and as a result whenever he is playing it (and only as long as he is playing it) he is protected by the Mage Armor spell. He generally keeps it slung on his back. Dmitri eats in villages mostly, but keeps a flask of rowan berry juice and a few bundles of berries that he picks after the first frost. Skills: Diplomacy Dmitri was raised in the nobility, and expected to carry on the family name with honor and dignity. As a result, he was trained from an early age in etiquette and discussion, and had tutors for rhetoric and other proper skills. This, combined with years spent as a bard, a profession that relies on human interaction for a livelihood, have made him an effective diplomat. Knowledge - Religion When Dmitri was sixteen, his father informed him that he was joining the clergy as the third son of the family. He complied, and the three years he spent in training for the Church imparted him with a wealth of knowledge about his religion. When he left the Church and turned his back on his family, he spent a period of time searching the world for different religions, hoping to find one that would make him believe. When he abandoned that quest, he continued the pursuit of knowledge to better proof the fallacy of the gods. Perform Dmitri plays the harp quite well, having trained at it from his youth with the family’s bard. It is his primary source of income. He is also a fairly accomplished singer, with a pleasant baritone voice that he uses to accompany his harp playing, or for story telling purposes. Ambidexterity Though Dmitri is naturally left handed, the main sinstre was not considered a lucky sign in the North, and he taught himself to use his right hand as well so as not to embarrass his family or stand out. Sense Motive Dmitri was trained to read people—whether they meant harm to his family, how they felt about the wine or a business deal, whether someone was who they said they were, and a myriad other reasons for this skill. In the clergy, he was taught to rate piety and whether people were sincere in their statements and oaths. Now, as a bard, he uses it to gauge people motives, their moods, and their desires. Feats: Strong Soul Dmitri discovered that he was difficult to kill at a relatively young age, at seventeen, when as part of his religious training he went to the Monastery of the Black Friar in the North. On the trip there, for fasting and prayer, his party was attacked by a vampire and his minions. In the battle, a killing spell was directed at Dmitri’s master. Dmitri stepped in the way and took the spell, falling apparently dead. He awoke several hours later to find that the rest of his party had fled to the monastery, but that, though weak, he had survived. He has since had several similar scrapes, but has survived each time—including what should have been a killing blow from a wight that left a scar across his chest, and the attempt on his life by his eldest brother that pierced the top of his kidney. Flaws: Dislike of Nobility It may seem strange that Dmitri hates the nobility as much as he does, as he grew up in a noble family, but after what seems to him like a string of betrayals, each one worse than before, he has lumped the nobility into the category of humanity that is worse than useless, an active blight on society. While he is too afraid of their power (knowing very well how much they can get away with) to actively resist them, he passively fights against them at any turn, and will not play for nobility unless there is an ulterior motive behind it. Impious When Dmitri turned nineteen and was preparing to join the priesthood for all time, he was approached by the head of the Abbey. The Abbot attempted to force him to do things he did not believe in, and he fled into the night. Over the course of a week’s time, a number of events in his life (his being left for dead on the trip to the Monastery of Black Friars, the impiety of the clergy around him, numerous encounters with bribery and corruption in the Church, the final push by the Abbot to make false claims about the gods speaking to him) added up to a final unbelief in his religion. After he fled and returned home, he spent months going through the family’s library and speaking to everyone he could about other faiths, and came to the conclusion that the gods were not real, never had been, and religion was scheme to destroy the pious on the part of the Church. He actively works against religious persecution and corruption in the Church, and makes no bones about his views of the Gods. Black Sheep of the Family The culmination of Dmitri’s fall from faith and studies in the surrounding world led him to denounce his family as being part of the greater body that oppressed mankind. His family, of course, did not take kindly to this, and when he refused to join the military to make up for his disgrace in the clergy, his older brother decided that such rebellion could only be met by death, and attempted to kill him. Dmitri survived, if only barely, and fled, knowing that only fate had kept his family from killing him the last time. Powerful Enemy As the black sheep of his family, and having brought so much wrath down upon his head, there are now teams of assassins who scour the countryside for Dmitri. They are hired by his family, and have orders to kill him and dispose of his body quietly and discreetly. They are a constant threat to him, as are nobles and family guards from the North who are aiding his family. |
