| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

He had sought sanctuary in the woods for years, seeking to find the haven of protection that was wound into the bark of the trees, bound into the leaves of all that surrounded him and yet he found no peace. His mind was an ocean of thoughts, constantly throwing thoughts into his mind and causing it to flourish; confusion and distortion were all that he knew. He was confused as to what these thoughts meant, he felt that his life was distorted. He knew that only one thought remained constant in his mind. It had all began in these very woods, though not in these exact parts. These woods, as he knew, were famous for the great and mighty arachnids that dwelled in the many dark and luring places that had woven themselves into the woods. The woods were simply a creation of an even mightier forest, a great land that haunted the souls of all that dared to walk across its darkened paths. He dared not to speak of how the thought had entered his mind for it was frightening even for him to remember. It came only in his dreams, and when he awoke, he was flustered and cold. As he shook the reminiscent of that dark tale away from him, the waves of thought and betrayal flooded into his mind. These waves were strong, he fell to his knees in pain and anguish. The thought was there in his mind, beckoning for him to sift through the thoughts like dust to find that single thought. He refused to do it, he would not bow to his own mind. He could control it. As he continued to think that single phrase, his dark mind grew ever stronger in it’s plan to lure him away from his roots, from his purity. He struggled to stand to his feet, and as he rose, his arms lifted in glory. He had defeated his dark mind, or that was the case for now. He looked around the woods again; it was dark, strange and frightening. The cobwebs of arachnids dwelled on almost of the branches and he was surrounded by trees. The branches struck out at him like long, spindly fingers that wanted to swipe him away from this place. He drew his staff, knowing that he would have to wary of his surroundings, keeping his eyes open for signs of danger. He could find none, but he would always be aware; always watching. As he walked through the woods, with his staff alongside him, he could almost feel a presence. It was a dark presence, but he knew that it was most likely nothing. It was simply a nervous feelings and he was getting paranoid. He stood, waiting to see if the feeling would leave, but it kept at him. He ignored and walked on wondering what would happen next… |

Aranel felt at home in these woods. It was dark and forbidding to others, giving her peace when she wanted it. It also seemed to provide her with an abondance of lost men and women trying to get through the woods. She rarly went hungry here and even if she did get hungry there was plunty of other life forms for her to feed on. She had resently feed on a particularly nice specimen. Her eyes were violent green with contentment as she passed through the trees. Normally the trees seemed to want to reach out and capture you, but to her they seemed to bow down to her utter darkness. She felt a presence in the woods that was human like. It wasnt quite a human but she couldnt quite put what it was so she decided that she would call it human for now. She approched the area where she felt its presents and glimpsed a male through the trees. It was a lost man but not one that she normally found here in the woods. This was a soul in the classic epic battle between light and dark. She thought, MMMMM this one should be fun. Im going to play with this one for a while. He will see me as human. OH this could be so fun! she drew back into the woods as he turned full circle. Her presents seemed to have that effect on alot of people. She backed away a few yards laughing silently to herself. She turned and let out a blood curtaling scream into the woods. She didnt bother to look to see if the man would attempt to find her, she knew he would. Quickly she climbed a tree and hid out of sight to better watch what the man would do. |

He had sensed the presence of a creature; dark and mysterious with the soul of a demonic force, he felt insecure and afraid. Though he was capable in battle, he could not compete against the forces of darkness and he would not attempt to do so. Yet there was a curiosity that tugged in his mind, forcing him to reach out into the air in the hope that he would feel something. He heard the scream that struck into the woods and echoed throughout the trees, striking fear into all those who heard the violent cry. It had a tone of pure anger and hatred, forcing him to step backwards in fright and he quickly drew his staff and stepped into a defensive stance. He called out to the presence, wanting to send a message, showing no fear and emanating confidence and power but he knew it would do no good; it was a cat and mouse game. He would search and they would mock him, laughing at his pitiful attempts to find that single person: if he found them. He began to search towards the east, trusting his instincts as he searched for the presence, the scent of darkness and hatred filling his nostrils and directing him towards his predator. He called out many times, hoping to find this single person before they found him but he could see no hope. He simply wandered in circles, calling and shouting in anger as he struck out at the air. He ended his hunt in the centre of the woods, falling to his knees in misery and begging for them to reveal themselves. He wished to die an honourable death and would not die as a coward. He would fight for his life, and if he lost, it would be a noble cause. |

Aranel watched the man circling the woods following her, trying to find her. He had called out several times and had swung his staff several times at shadows. She laughed mockingly at him, her laughter echoed through the woods, further confusing him. As he feel down on his knees in the center of the woods, begging for her to reveal herself, she knew her game was over. Oh that is always the way of it,its fun for a while then they give up and beg. Maybe I can play some more. Gracfully she jumpped from the higher tree branches, landing lightly on her feet in front of her pray. Her long hair had fallen over her face when she landed. THe long black hair obscured her sight of him as well as his sight of her. Slowly she picked her down turned face up and looked at the man kneeling at her feet. Her hair fell away from her face reveiling her radiant green eyes. Around the iris's were tinged red from her lack of blood but that was the only hint of what she was. Hello there stranger. Are you lost here in the woods? She decided she would play a bit more with him. Perhaps he hadnt realized what she was yet. She put on the sweet and innocent act, placing her hands behind her back and smiling at the man. She was careful not to flash her teeth. She didnt want to spoil her own fun. |
