| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The buzzing life of this small village seemed to be in the center of the town and it just happened to be the only place where ale was being served. If one was to come to this cozy little inn, you would find it hard to resist the warm beds, sweet ale, and the beautiful love of horses, obviously displayed by the art that was around the entire town. Horses were noble creatures, and anybody in their right mind would love them. They are caring, noble, and loyal to their master. What other creature would be more than perfect to suit combat needs and a possible companion, but a horse? Jocelyn has come to this village many a time, and she was dearly loved. She shared the same passion for the noble horse and the desire to drink ale and chat with village folk. She had been walking home, in hope to see her father again, but she decided that the night was growing old. She needed some food in her stomach and a nice warm bed for the night. As Jocelyn entered the tavern all attention was turned to her and she was greeted by a few hugs from the older men of the regular tavern life. "Hello Jocelyn, nice to have you with us again." A white bearded man greeted the well-known lady. Jocelyn greeted her old friends and finally made it to the bar. "An ale please, George, with froth, if you could." Jocelyn requested and within a moment's time frothy ale was slid in front of her. "No need to pay Lyn, we have heard news of your father. Your ale is on the house tonight, and feel free to take your normal room." George, the inn keeper added in a raspy deep voice. "Thanks, George. Your hospitality is always appreciated." The tired woman thanked the tender and drank her ale, it would not be long till the affects would make her tried and want to rest for the night. |

Zydus had been inside the Gryphon for a while. He had just finished some ale of his own, and sat back relaxed. This was the one of the few times he was able to rest from travelling. Looking around the tavern, he watched the many people enjoying themselves. Some were having a quiet chat, while others openly laughed and loudly spoke. Zydus grinned at them. He was still waiting on his meal to come so he had many a reason to sit here. Looking back at the fire, Zydus heard the door open and watched some of the occupants go to greet the new-comer. Curious as he was, Zydus looked to see who the person was, discovering it was a woman. He heard an old man greet her with the name 'Jocelyn'. She seemed to be quite popular, or well-known at least amongst the tavern's locals. Zydus watched the woman for a short while longer, until he returned his gaze to the fire. He was still waiting on his own food to come. ---------------------------------------------------- ((OOC: I wasn't sure if this was open so I posted anyway.)) |

Jocelyn had always been well-known in this tavern, thanks to her father. When she was younger, he would always take her where he traveled. Being a nobleman that was loved by most people, regular tavern folk grew to know you. Jocelyn loved traveling and wished she could do more of it once she graduated from the academy. She clearly remembered when her father and she would stop for the night; they always picked this cozy little inn. It seemed to have the best sweet ale, warm beds, and the folk were always welcoming. Jocelyn's memories crept back to her and she remembered playing cards with the older patrons of the tavern. It was quite fun and exciting. Jocelyn always won, and got a free meal out of it. The men treated her like their second daughter and sometimes her father would leave her with the tavern folk when he had to run off quickly on some hurried business. So, you could say, that Jocelyn was raised in taverns. Of course, that is not quite true, but it sure felt like it. Now, Jocelyn was sipping her sweet ale and something golden caught her eyes, by the fire. She turned in her seat and saw the man, a quite handsome man that is. She pushed the thought of how attractive he was, away from her mind and picked up her ale and approached the man. "May I sit with you, Sir? I do believe I know most people in this tavern, but I do not know you." She explained, giving reason to why she wanted to sit with him. |

Zydus had been staring in deep thoguht at the fire. He jumped slightly when he heard someone speak to him. "Oh...yes. Of course. I've been looking for some company for a while. Thank you." He sat up a bit more straighter and smiled at the woman. "If we are going to be companions here, I must introduce myself. I'm Zydus...and you'd be Jocelyn, right?" He always preferred to be polite to others who weren't his enemy. As a Knight, and a young man - this was his duty, he believed. Zydus quickly glanced around the tavern again, looking to see if there was any sign of his food and because he had run out of things to say until Jocelyn spoke. He sighed slightly at the lack of activity heading his way from behind the tavern bar, and then quickly turned his attention back to Jocelyn. |

Jocelyn slighlty jumped herself when the man beside her leaped from surprise. The woman chuckled softly to herself and took a seat across from the man as soon as he accepted her to siut with him. "Aye, my name is Jocelyn. You must have over heard my friends." She guessed, at why the man had known her name. She shifted in the seat and when the man seemed to look towards the bar, she did too. He must have been waiting for something. "Oh, Sir, are you waiting for your meal?" Jocelyn asked curiously as her eyes shifted from the knight and back to the bar. "I can help there...." Jocelyn paused and then left the table by the fire and walked towards the bar. "George, I do believe there is a meal needed over by the fire?" George looked over to the knight and hit his forehead. "Ahh, I have almost forgotten!" He cursed and ran into the back of the bar and began making up a plate for the knight. He quickly scurried over to the table and set the warm steaming plate of food in front of the man. "You'll have to forgive me for the wait, Sir." He pleaded of the fair haired knight. |

Zydus watched Jocelyn approach the barman. He grinned as the man slapped his forehead due to his forgetfulness. Zydus continued watching on as the man returned from behind th kitchen to Zydus with his meal, which he had been waiting for, for quite some time. "Don't dwell on it, my good man. It's not uncommon." Zydus picked up his fork and knife and began to eat the freshly made, steaming potatoes. He looked up at Jocelyn after finishing his first gulp. "I must thank you for this. I 've been waiting quite a while for my order." He smirked slightly, and began back into his food. He was starving now, and relished every bite of the meal. Making polite conversation, Zydus spoke in between his food. "So...may i ask what brings you here then, or am I mistaken in believing you come from around these parts?" He didn't eat too fast, but at a steady pace, as Zanathius told him once during his training to become a Knight. Zydus remembered when they came here once when he was in his early teens. He gobbled his food back then like a hungry stray. After a slap on the head to interrupt him, Zanathius always said. 'You're a Knight...remember your manners, young squire.' Zydus grinned. It was things like this that made him feel abit more cheerful, even though his friend, or father as Zydus would sometimes call him, died a long time ago. Zydus still lives in the house around Kellen where he trained as a young boy. |

Jocelyn always found George's forgetfulness funny as a child. The younger men always seemed to get onto him about it, but that was many years ago and he was young then too. It obviously ran in the family. Jocelyn chuckled at the bar tender and then took her seat back across from the knight. She watched his food steam for a moment; she was lost in her thoughts for a moment until he began making small talk. Jocelyn had to think for a moment to clear her head to answer his question. "Oh indeed. I am not from around Kellen, but I was practically raised her, so I suppose you could say I was. My father and I spent a lot of time together her. These men were my friends when I was around five years. Quite a funny story." She explained and then set her arms on the table while staring into her frothy ale. "I am going to see my father. I train at the Academy of Arms. I rarely get to see him, so I decided to stop and say hello to my old friends while I was off. What brings you here, Sir Zydus?" Jocelyn answered and then promptly asked another question, continuing with their small talk. |

Zydus paused for a second in the middle of his meal. "So you're from around here, then?" He thought for a second. He had been around Kellen many times as a young boy, but he couldn't remember ever seeing someone who resembled to Jocelyn. Maybe it was just unfortunate luck that stopped them ever meeting as children. Though, she did look abit younger than Zydus evern if not by much. Many always took Zydus to be 21, rather than 24. "Well, to answer your question, I am also from around here. Not by birth but practically my whole childhood was spent here." He looked to his dinner again. Cutting a piece of lamb off, he ate it slowly. Meat was always a favourite off Zydus' at mealtimes, ever since his childhood. Zydus made a signal towards a barmaid who was looking around for any orders of ale. He knew this easily, and quickly ordered another ale by raising finger. He glanced at Jocelym. "Would you like some more ale?" He only really drunk when he had the time, and not very regularly, thoguh this time he wanted something to cool down his mouth if he ate something to hot. |

Jocelyn had also thought that he was a year or possibly two older than her, but it would come to her surprise that he was four years older. It was unfortunate that they had not seen each other as children, but maybe they did, but had long forgotten their names and memories. It wouldn't be the first time. Perhaps, they had been friends and the two had not known it. Only deep within their minds, would they ever know. Jocelyn had warmed up very quickly with the ale that she had ordered when she first got her and now that she was sitting by the fire. As Zydus signaled the barmaid for ale, Jocelyn gave the maid the same signal and shook her mug while mouthing the word 'froth'. The barmaid seemed to smile and chuckle at the regular customer and she went to fetch their orders. Jocelyn turned to Zydus and smiled. "Well, this is very interesting; we were both basically raised in this area. Me, I was raised in a tavern..." She paused and laughed at her statement and then continued. "And you spending most of your childhood here." She finished and then received her drink, as well as Zydus's. |
