Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Xion's brilliant little plan to follow the massive hordes of people that flowed throughout the city until he got out failed horribly. Oh, sure, he had gotten to a way out, but the way smelt of fish, sweaty men and ocean, not to mention he didn't have any money to afford sailing anywhere. The moment he thought of how things could not get any worse, sure enough a large tidal wave shot up and drenched him completely as a massive, square ship pulled up to the docks. Growling with animal fury, he squeezed his clothes, pushing out the water until they seemed relatively dry. The day was not going great, but as he turned around a melodic voice laid waste to his concentration, and drug the remains of it over to the boarding ramp of the square ship that had soaked him earlier. As the voice stopped, the small crowd dispersed and Xion's eyes grew wide with excitement and horror.

The girl stood roughly 5"8', with short snow-white hair and a foreign looking outfit with a shirt that could make a bar-dancer envious. Smiling brightly, the girl looked in Xion's direction and a siege of predictions, memory, and senses battered his skull. Hell, grandfather, girl, snow, father, girl, blood, hell. Demon. Blackness overtook him as he could feel his eyes roll to the back of his head before hearing a thump from behind that he recognized as his head. That was going to hurt tomorrow, if there was a tomorrow.

Xion's head bolted up with fright, dulled by pain shivering through his skull. Feeling at his head as he breathed heavily with pain, he felt a band-aid wrapped around his temples, covering a spot on the back of his head that felt damp. Pulling his fingers up to his mouth, he gave them a quick lick, simply because he could not see anything at the moment, or rather it hurt to open his eyes to the light that he was sensitive to. The taste on his fingers was scarily recognized as blood, his own blood, tainted with a bitterness that only a demon could have. Even more light shone through his eyelids as he heard the creaking of a door opening up. Although he had sat up he could not do anything else, so he simply sat and waited, listening to a pair of padded footsteps approaching. Socks, but not wool or cotton, this material sounded like what the foreigners called silk, no matter, foreigners were strange, but they drank powerful liquor. Xion snickered at this thought, or at least tried to, producing a few small wheezes of air.

Suddenly, the hypersensitivity was gone as someone with somewhat of a small muscle build and surprisingly soft skin brought him to his feet. Xion had met men who were like that, and often tried to avoid them, but from the smell about her this was no man, she produced a pheromone that no man had ever produced, that’s how he could tell. This ability to tell people by smells is the strongest gift he ever received from his grandfather, and he liked it quite a bit. The girl had a hard time picking him up, so he cheated by using a table nearby. The girl sighed heavily when he finally stood, and she sat him down in a chair by the stove, and gave him a cup of what smelled like mint and water.

"Who exactly are you?" Xion opened his eyes to examine the girl, proving her to be an exact replica of the one from his visions. The girl hesitated a bit before looking at him with a worried and thoughtful look, then opening her full lips to reply.

"My name is Trinity. Trinity Aurin. I come from the east, I was entertaining to get some pocket-cash for this room when I looked at you and you passed out. I felt responsible for your experience, so I brought you here where you have been for about 3 days now." Xion's eyes went white. Three days?! How on earth..?! I've never slept off a near loss of limb that long! his eyes threw daggers at hers. What did that witch do to me?! With a roar and a quickly muffled scream, the girl was pinned against the wall at the mouth, and Xion's hand was wrapped around her throat, but she never fought, she only stared up at him, with that worry in his eyes, now with a touch of forgiveness. His eyes began to slightly water as her face turned white but her eyes stayed the same, and finally with on last small growl he let her go and stomped over to the edge of the bed. She hit the ground and took in air,

"I...I am sorry, will go now..." Xion said as he grabbed his cloak that lay on the nightstand, but he was stopped by her with her hand on his chest. She looked up at him with determination, fierce determination.

"No. Sit." Was all she said as she lightly pushed him, down onto the bed. His eyes sagged as she looked at him worriedly again, "You have nowhere to go, nothing to work for. You will live with me in my little bungalow, no matter how you protest. All you will do is sit here and live." She told him firmly, but he simply shook his head and stood up.

"If I am to live here, I will work and help you expand." Was all he said before sitting back down, removing his cloak, and laying down in the bed. It was only now that he realized his roof was a shoddy dock, his bed a simple mattress laid on flat ground, and his nightstand was an old barrel, but he didn't care, it was comfortable. the girl sighed before tucking him in and making her way up a small hill to the beach. It was relatively cold, but not in these strange blankets. As he dwindled off to sleep, the other bed that he had seen before turned to nothing, and by the time it was too late he had fallen sleep, his dream of being in an inn was shattered, but no matter what, it was still comfortable.

Xion awoke, greeted by a warm wind and the sharp smell of the sea. His head hurt a little bit, and as he rubbed it his last memories returned to him. Cursing loudly he threw himself out of the thoroughly wrapped bed and grabbed his cloak, covering his body, which was stripped down to his under-clothes. His face went a bright red as he saw the girl who helped him stir under the blankets, breathing lightly, unfazed by his panic. Trinity, that was her name, Trinity Aurin from the foreign land. His head still throbbed slightly as he quietly put on all of his clothes and shivered his way up the beach to the boardwalk. Upon reaching the boardwalk he heard a whistle from behind, and when he spun he saw Trinity chasing after him while holding her sandals and trying to put on her sleeves. Sighing loudly, he waited for her to catch up, which wasn't long, then stood firm when she used him to balance on while she put on her sandals.

"I'm afraid to be in this large town alone," She said as she clicked her feet on the ground to adjust her shoes on her feet, "I tried to go alone the other day and there were these men and... Oh, never mind" She explained to Xion before stopping short and peering down at the ground, moping.

"And... What happened?" Xion asked her as he stopped. She simply turned her head before adjusting her dress slightly, a sign of worry, or in this case, bad memories. "Take me to where you were walking yesterday..." Xion said as he gave her a small push forward, enough to signal her, and walked after her. The city was large and walled; some streets were bright and pleasant while others dark and filthy. Some of the contrasts in the town were amazing, along with some of the street performers they walked by, but even with the performers Trinity kept her eyes to her feet and kept walking before stopping short of an alley. She pointed at it before sniffling back a tear, and Xion signaled her to go in, so she complied.

The alley was pitch black, and all was quiet but the rats. "You again! Little wench enjoyed the gift I gave her last, I see" A loud and low voice rumbled through the alley, followed by a booming laughter and a figure coming from the shadows to grab her arm. Metal flashed, and two shill screams burst through the alley and onto the street. The sword shone green as Xion tilted it and wiped off the blood. Trinity was clenching Xion's side as she stared in horror at the limp body crumpled on the ground before her. Xion simply grunted before glancing at Trinity and leaving the alley, her attached to him and following close behind, and following him when he turned into a tavern. The two took their seats and ordered their food from a large lady in a green apron.

"W...Why did you do...do that?" Trinity said as she swallowed her cup of water and shook slightly, more from fear than cold. Xion simply breathed heavily and took another drink of his warm ale, he hated warm ale, but it was all they had.

"What he did was wrong." Was all Xion said before the large serving lady came to them with two plates, on having a pile of some white grain that Trinity called rice along with green peas, while Xion's had a slab of meet and some potatoes dosed with rich gravy. He dove into his plate of food, using the nice to rip large chunks of meat and shoving them in his mouth while Trinity simply gazed into space, deep in thought, almost oblivious of her own food if not for the steam tickling her bronzed chin. By the time she had finished Xion had already paid and was waiting patiently enjoying the gleeman on the small stage, singing in high chant about a wanderer and his horse.

Trinity was wiping the corners of her mouth when the two exited the cafe. The sun was still high in the sky and it was slightly warmer than usual, not enough to bring about a sweat, but enough to keep from being cold. It was comfortable; Xion always loved this city's temperature. A magpie sang from the drain that ran off the roof of the tavern, and the clucking of chickens was barely audible under the constant buzz of people. Sighing loudly, He leaned against the building, plotting how he was to find a way around in this city when Trinity came up to him with a devious smile on her face. "I have an idea.."

The rooftops were much dirtier than Xion had planned, and the birds almost outnumbered the people in the streets. Trinity laughed as she ran along the edges, feeding birds the pieces of bread that she had left from her meal, the whole time her eyes filled with joy, Xion's with wonder. Gasping loudly, Trinity slammed her hands down as she fell and began to slide off the roof. Xion laughed before jumping to her, picking her up, then jumping back to the peak and letting her down. "You had best be more careful". It was going to be another long day.

The night was a cold one, and the small fire that Xion had built did little to change that. Although the fire was small and the food was scarce, Trinity's spirits were not down at all, and she astounded him with conversation that never stopped until she fell asleep, leaving Xion to sit alone and think. He thought hard, trying to remember, coming a little closer every day, and then sleep came.

Xion awoke to find himself sitting up against the small crate that acted as a table. With a loud yawn, he stood and stretched out his back. Turning to look towards the sea he saw Trinity sitting by the shore. Shrugging, he walked over to her. When he sat beside her, he saw her crying. "Trinity! What's wrong?" He asked, and in reply she simply held onto a note. Growling, Xion picked the note from her hand and read it.

If yoo dont leafe twomorrow I will kill yoo rathur thun alll of yur stuoff. The grammar in this place was atrocious, and Xion suspected that only the wealthy could afford schooling, but none-the-less this letter was a valid threat, and he hated threats. I could kill them all, but from the sounds of it I could be causing even worse consequences. And this girl need not be involved, but I can't make her leave...
he stared off into the ocean as Trinity fought back tears. "Trinity... We must go..." He said as he stood up and brushed himself off. "Take nothing that you can't fit in your purse, we head for Kellen today..."

Trinity turned to Xion with wide eyes before trying to argue. "Leave! But I am to thrive here! We can't lea-"

"We must! It is dangerous here, we can thrive in Kellen...Get your purse and be ready to go." Was all he said before throwing his cloak on and making his way off the beach and onto the boardwalk, empty of all but a single man on horseback. Trinity wept as she packed, trying to convince herself it was the right idea as Xion waited patiently on the boardwalk. She shuddered as she reached his side, and without flinching he drew his sword, jabbing it into a horseman riding passed. The sun was not out yet, so he had time to run, but they had to hurry. He quickly jumped onto the back of the horse, grabbing a screaming Trinity and flinging her behind him. She hated the idea, but if she had to walk he was sure she would have been begging to steal a horse. No matter, the chase was on.
