Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Veronna was sitting in the tavern at the bar with milk in front of her; she normally didn't drink milk but as of late she dieceded it was best not to drink alchohol for she worried about... Veronna looked down at her stomach and placed her hand on it and smiled; she would never let any harm come to her child, never.

"Everythin' alright?" the bartender asked her. She looked up at him still smiling, "everythings fine," she looked down at her stomach again and then looked up, "better then fine." The bartender smiled at her and she could already guess he knew.
She watched as he walked away and then she looked around the tavern: it wasn't nearly as busy as it normally was, but it was quite early in the day still, and most people came here to get something to drink.

Veronna took another sip at her milk, and all of a sudden her head hurt and she couldn't figure out why; she felt fine a second ago... Then she found herself standing on a battle field, dead bodies everywhere, none she could identify, but that didn't mean very much. She then looked down at herself and saw her stomach was a lot larger then a few momets ago. Her eyes fell on her hands and saw they were covered in blood that dripped down onto her scimitars which she held. She couldn't figure out what was happening, what did this mean? Veronna had felt something coming for awhile now but this has just proven that something even worse then what she thought would come. She didn't want to see this, not now, not when she was so happy, but she had gotten careless, she had stopped worrying about things, and now this was going to happen, somewhere, someplace she couldn't place at the time. Many people will die, or have died already, but if it hadn't happened already she could do something about.

Veronna opened her eyes and found herself slumbed over on to the counter, as if she had fallen asleep. And she also saw the bartender standing over her looking very worried, dabbing a wet cloth on her forehead. She looked up into his eyes and saw much concern there, so she tried to smile, but it was hard to do since the images from her "Vision" still lingered.

Veronna tired to sit up but she didn't have her balance at the time and she could tell if she attempted to do so she would fall backwards. So she dieceded to lean foreward back on to the counter.
"Are you okay?" the bartender asked, worried about her, whom he never had to worry about because he knew who Veronna was and was never had to watch her, but now he was there anyways.
She looked up at him again her face carved from a stone, "I don't know..."

((Kona to the rescue. Veronna helped him, and now Kona helps her.))

Kona walked in the bar. Nothing so dramatic as his last few bar entrances. The last few days had been wraught with chaos, a crazed mage attacking a library, then a bar. Narrowly escaping capture in the bar. He had gotten there only after the fact. All that was left was alot of evil, and something stikingly similar to his older fightning style. He shook that. Getting spooked was something he did not need to develop, especially when Ranewens forces were attacking Istan. Kona had never been there himself, but as soon as he could, he planned to go there and stop her. Assassinate Ranewen, or at least slow her down so the other true immortals could get to her. Kona did not expect to survive.

The door opened with a creak, and it was fairly deserted. Great, always something bad happened when the bar was empty. He had learned that. Kona took a quick look around, and was had his Sheild of Faith spell ready. Nothing. Good. Then he heard a sigh, and a slump. He looked over immediatly, and his eyes grew wide for the second time in his life. Veronna was fainted on the table, and was waking up after being roused by the bartender.

Konahomaru ran up to her in a flash, and could feel the intense pain and fear in her. It was terrible, and he felt himself shiver. Perhaps they were closer than mere servant and mistress. No time for that now, he had to serve his master. A calm came over him. Battlefield calm. He put his hand on her shoulder, and concentrated. Bless.

"Veronna, it is I. Kona. You are fine, you simply had a nightmare. Talk back to me please, I am not sure how to transport a woman that has your particular... uh... responsibility." Kona said, stammering near the end. He wasnt sure if the bartender knew or not. Kona was in fear of breaking the "Dont tell anyone command" that was issued earlier.

Veronna looked up at Kona as he ran over to her. She was glad to see that he was doing well and cared for his mistress of blades. She slowly brought her head up and looked still looking at Kona, pain and dispair in her eyes, but it didn't really match the how concerned Kona was for her. She smiled at him, but it turned out to be a very painful smile and wasn't very soothing.

"Calm down Kona," she reached out to him and placed her hand on his shoulder,"I am fine... I think." She looked down at her stomach again and thne back up, "It was not a nightmare I fear, but something else..." She trailed off and looked at the bartender who was still standing there. She nodded to him, "Thank you very much, but I should be fine now." The bartender nodded also and walked back to wash some mugs, looking over now and then.

She looked back up to Kona; this time not as painful looking. "Why does it always seem you are around when I need someone to talk to or spar with?" She smiled slightly, then tried strainghting herself up, hoping this time she could keep her balance. She eased slowly to an upright position, this time she could tell she could keep her balance.

She placed her hand on her stomach and calmed down some more, still she was shaken by what she saw. She couldn't place any of really, except that she was standing by herself, somewhere, but what she could tell was that she was still carrying her child inside her but by the lookes of it for not much longer. She did not want to have a child during a war, but then again no matter what no one wants a war. She just wanted to live a life with Ocar, but she should have known it wouldn't be that easy. As a goddess she had many responsibilities, some she didn't like, but defending Imythess was one she would do no matter what.

She sighed and rubbed her head, not sure what to think of about her vision. She looked up at Kona again, "I fear that this war Ranewen plans for Imythess will destroy more people then any mortal war." She feared of what may happen to Ocar, or herself, though she could never die by a mortal, immortal on the other hand could kill other immortals. But she would live out this war, so would Ocar and her child.

Konahomaru felt the pain die down. It was still there, but now bearable. His eyes went back to there narrow focus fo determination and skill. Slowly, he also calmed down, almost as if soothed by Veronnas voice. Kona never thoguht that such a person was capable of continually surprising him. All the more to admire her.

Kona answered Veronna, almost like a child would answer back in play. Although, it was not his intent. His childhoo was someting best left untouched except by the finer people in his life, and right now she had no place doing so.

"Why is it that I am always around when you are in trouble or are bored?" He asked. He chuckled a little. Oops. His aura let loose, and the flash illuminated the room and sparks trailed off of his body and sunk into the wooden floor of the bar. He ignored it however.

"I, milady, believe that we should put a stop to this war. I know where they are. That evil i spoke of earlier actually is a person. Well, two persons. I, and another entity. If you are philosphical enough, we are the same person. We sometimes share feelings and thoughts, and through this, I have learned that Ranewen is going to attack Istan. I will be travelling there at the first sign of an forces." Kona stopped to allow it to sink in. either way he would be fighting, now that he was a sole servant to Veronna. Might as well incurr as many losses as possible before they reach Taras, if they do.

Kona gazed into Veronnas eyes again. "It is strange how every time I meet you, I seem to get closer to you. Emotionally, and mentally. Dont worry about the child. It will be fine. And when it grows young and strong, I will ensure it becomes a fine warrior. Have you any clue yet if it will be a boy or a girl?"

Veronna smiled at Kona at his reply, "Maybe your just following me around making sure I don't into trouble?" She grinned broadly then the smile shrank back when Kona brought up the war. "I agree the war must be stopped Kona, but Ranewen is strong, to strong for even me... And if you try to confront her, you will be walking right into deaths arms." Veronna was looking at him, her voice kind of scorning him for his thoughts.

"Having another being inside you can be good sometimes, but be wary, for it can also mislead you to do the wrong things. Watch where you are lead, for death awaits around many corners."

Veronna smiled again when he asked if she knew yet; she shook her head and looked down at her stomach once again, "I have no idea as of yet, but when I find out, I will be sure to tell you right away." She looked up at him a little worry on her face again, "I know I have many to watch over me, you included, but no one can stop me from what I may have to do in this war. I'm the Misstress of Blades, and therefore I have obligations to live up to." Veronna didn't want to put her child in harms way, but if worse came to worse she would have to fight...and live to tell another story.

The war was going to be huge, one that would most likely spread across Imythess, to every corner and cave. But if the war made it to Taras, well, there would be hell to pay for Ranewen and her armies.

"Milady, I do not intend to kill Ranewen. Even though I am half-god, and it would be entirely possible, at least I think, that is not my plan. If I were to kill her, or even be able to damage her, that would change everything. People would stop beleiveing in the power that you all hold, I know some of it. I am it, in a way. I am your weapon Veronna, you know that. I am going to war, to at least give as many losses to Ranewens army as possible to the point she gets here, in which case I will help you slay her. Even if I have to sacrifice myself to do it. I would rather have my own death than see darkness take the world. Not only that, but it is partially my responsibility to do so. You know my disputed heritage." Kona stopped, and sighed.

"Im sorry, Veronna. If I actually do die, and you win, maybe you can resurect me if you want. You are a goddess. You are just as powerfull as the others. They just dont want you to know that. Some dont even realize that without you, they would not have the weapons they hold. I know. You just need to beleive in yourself. I have faith in you. You should too."Kona stopped again, and then drew his Lightning Blade. The emblem gleamed, almost as if in joy to be near its Goddess.

"This thing you have given me, this indestructibe blade. Would it not also be possible to make it so that the opposing armys blades are fragile, and our own as strong as this? Surely you can. It would be a great advantage."

Veronna looked at the blade Kona drew and right away knew what sword it was; she never forgot a weapon she had fought against. She knew he had faith in her, but she wasn't sure she had faith in herself. "I could make more blades, but it would take time, too much time. The only reason I could do it to your sword was because you believe in me, you are a follower of the blade, others do not have that much faith in me Kona..." She was the goddess always looked over, no one ever bothered to speak with her or spar with her, which made Veronna sad in a way.

She sighed and bit her bottom lip in worry like she always did. "You won't die, I won't die, anyone who believes in me will survive, anyone who follows a deity will survive if that god wishes it." She was starting to get confidant in herself now, maybe they could when the war. She stood up and looked at Kona and his blade, knowing he was aworthy swordsman, she knew he was fine at one on one battles, but against many opponents she had no idea at all.

You had to be a very good fighter to be able to watch your suroundings and be able to fight with an opponent at the same time. Veronna had many years to perfect in this area so she was quite good at it, but for Kona she had no idea.

"Tell Kona, have you ever fought in a large battle with many people?" if he hadn't then Veronna would have to train him to be aware of his suroundings at all times, or he would not stand a chance at all in the war.

Veronna had her scimitars on her hips like always, but she didn't have her longsword or one of her daggers. She was wearing what she normally wore; her dark red tunic and a heavy black shirt underneath that, and some heavy black pants also, for it was starting to get cold out.

Kona could feel and see that Veronna was beginning to beleive in herself, just as Kona had beleived in her. It made him feel good inside, that he had helped her.
This was definetly going to be hard, but Kona would keep on encouraging her until she had the utmost confidence in herself. It was vital to be confident of your abilities, or you may never win anything in life. Kona reasoned that at one time she had been that confident, becuase she was now the Goddes of Blades, but somehwhere along the line something happened to quell that.

"Tell Kona, have you ever fought in a large battle with many people?"
She asked, and Kona almost laughed. Then he remembered that he had neglected to tell her exactly what he did before he was sent here by the demon mage. Reminding him that he still needed revenge on him...

"I am a captain in the Celestial Army, Milady. Although I am probably considered Killed in Action by now. I was a warrior as a young one in a large war between demons and celestials. I fought on the battlefield many times, and that is why I am so hardened to emotion and not easily surprised. Although I have found my match in you. Nevertheless, I can fight multiple enemies. I havent done it for quite some time however, so perhaps some training would be in order..." Kona explained, feeling a little nostalgic as he did so. It brought back memories, 'flashbacks' they were called. Him killing enemeis, being wounded, seeing good freinds die. It was a terrible thing, but out of the most dire situations were humanities greatest accomplishments. Kona was one such accomplishment.

Veronna nodded when Kona informed her that he had fought in a war before. That was a relief for her; now she didn't have to train him to be aware of his soroundings, and how to engage multiple enemies. Veronna herself had never really fought in a war before, but she had fought large battles as the houses in the Underdark fought each other for power.

Veronna smiled as Kona mentioned he could use some pracitce, but she wasn't sure she wanted to spar. "I have much to get done and plan, for if the war reaches Taras then I will have to have an idea as to how I can protect the city from enemy forces." She hoped he wouldn't mind not practicing with her, but she did have a lot to get done and not much time.

Veronna closed her eyes and sighed; she was tired but had to keep going. She knew Ocar would insist that she sleep more but she couldn't sleep very well lately, and now this vision will keep her up even more.

She opened her eyes again and looked at Kona, "Well, I think I have enough time to spare to have another glass of milk. Do you wish to join me?" She asked. As she waited she walked over to a table and pulled a couple chairs out and gesture to Kona to join her.

"You have more than fulfilled your share of sparring with me master. Dont worry about that right now." Kona said. He watched Veronna move back to the table, and pull out a chair for him.

Kona unhooked his katana from his belt and leaned it against the table, and then sat down. "Thank you for offering me a place at your table." Kona said. "Bartender! Over here if you will!" Kona shouted, and the bartender made his way through the tables and up to them.

"What will it be then?" he asked. "Two glasses of milk if you will, for the Immortal being and the almost immortal one. On the almost immortal one."Konahomaru said. A hard attempt at humor. It was lost on the bartender, but he went back to retrieve the drinks.

"It seems I will not be entertaining anyone soon with any jest's." He commented to himself, somewhat dissapointed at the failure. Nevertheless, things were going well for the moment. He was with his master, learning from her every minute, and he was loving it all.

Konas mind drifted off to the war itself. What he would do, where he would go, when he would do it. The way things were going now, he wouldnt be able to go to the war. It would have to come to him.

(Thats ok Veronna. Take your time. After a month i might think youve died though. lol.)

Veronna shook her head as a smile came to her face when Kona tried a joke. She herself wasn't very good at jokes and or being humorous, thats why she didn't try. She leaned back in her chair and relaxed her shoulders a bit. Her hands fell to her sides and she felt for her scimitars and unlatched them from her belt and sat them on the floor; she normally didn't take her scimitars off but she didn't feel like having them in the way.

She smiled at the bartender as he brought their drinks to them. He sat them on the table and then walked back to the bar. She grabbed one of the glasses and took a large drink of it. She found she enjoyed milk quite a lot, plus she didn't want to drink alchohol. She wiped her lips off and looked over at Kona; she found him a very fine swordsman and a good person to talk to.

"What have you been doing lately anyways? I mean, I see you a lot but what do you do when your not around me?" she didn't really know what to talk about, so she thought starting small talk was a good way. Whenever she talked with anyone it was always about something big going on or something, she just wanted to talk about other things.

She straightened in her seat and put her arms on the table, her cup in her hands. She took another drink and sat the cup down again, while wiping her mouth off.

Kona took a sip of the milk. He had never had milk before, and it tasted very strange to him. If it were his choice, he wouldnt have picked it. Next time he would order water. Veronna undoubtedly enjoyed it, and Konahomaru could see the pleasure written all over her face. Curious thing. Perhaps drow's enjoyed milk thourighly?

Then she asked him what he had been doing lately. It threw him off a little, he hadnt expected anything like that. Usually being in Veronnas company met the most serious of things were being taken care of. Thats how Kona alos preferred it. Still no capacity for the human fascination for usless chit-chat. Still, he decided to carry on. It didnt bother him that much in the first place.

"Gaurding Taras city from criminals, ensuring that supplies for the impending attack on Taras from Ranewem arrive safely. Without any sabotage and whatnot. Not long ago I stopped an orc from causing a big ruckus. A few people were killed, but I contained the situation. It turned out he wasnt actually serving Ranewen, but was a lost traveller. I let him go, but branded him from entering the city again. That and i havent slept for 3 days. Odd, I never feel sleepy..."

Veronna saw Kona watching her drink her milk and she smiled at him, seeing he didn't like it very much. Her smile grew bigger when she saw his reaction when she asked him what he had been up to.

She listened to him talk, just liking to her someone speak. She had been very stressed out lately and needed a simple conversation. She almost laughed when he said he was protecting to the city, for it would be impossible for one man to stop all the bandits and murderers and law breakers in Taras. Taras wasn't a bad place, it was quite nace really, but still in the bad parts of town no one would believe how much death occured every night and day.

She couldn't say she had seen an orc around, but she didn't really care about unintelligent beings. But still, it was good Kona tried to make a difference, she didn't think she really made a whole lot of a difference anywhere. Sleeping wasn't much of a problem with her ethier, but she did get tired now and then. For one she loved the night, but she had much to do in the day.

Veronna was getting ready to say something, but before she could everything changed around her.

She looked around and didn't see Kona anywhere, but she was sitting down at a table, but instead of Kona a woman was sitting across from her. And by the looks of it was another drow, who also had the same red eyes as herself. Veronna felt her stomach and found it was as big as in her vision she had just a few minutes ago. She had never had visions like these and she was confused. She looked back up at the drow woman across from her and she froze when she saw the drow's face; it was her mother, who wanted to kill her daughter.
Veronna stood suddenly and reached for her scimitars but they weren't on her hips, they were laying against the table she was sitting at. She went foreward quickly and grabbed her scimitars by the hilts and dragged them out of their scabbards. She watched as her mother stood and was walking around the table towards her, a long sword in her hand. Veronna backed up as her mother got closer; this was the only person Veronna was kind of afraid of, though she knew she was a better at swordplay then her mother. Veronna stopped backing up and stood her ground and got ready for a fight, but she didn't expect her mother to use magic, well she should have expected it because drow normally didn't have any honor. Veronna watched as her mother cast some sort of spell, not really worrying about it because she could deflect it with her divine powers, but when a bolt of magic her and sent her flying she realized her powers were not working.
Then she couldn't move, she couldn't grabbed her scimitars which she had dropped, and she couldn't reach her dagger. She watched as her mother stood over her, an pure evil smile on her face, "You are mine Veronna, you should have been mine years ago. And now I will keep you until your children are born and they will will be mine, and you will be dead."

Konahomaru took another displeasing sip of the milk. Even though he didnt like it, he would finish it just the same. It would be a waste of money anyhow, had he not drunk it. Kona looked up just as Veronna was about to say something, then she slumped in her seat and her head thumped against the table, knocking over her glass of milk.

"I had never thought one would get intoxicated by a glass of milk" he commented. Another joke. Wonderful, next thing he would be doing cartwheels with a clown mask on. While juggling daggers.

Kona quickly got up and to Veronnas side, and got whispered in her ear, "Veronna, whats wrong! Did you fall asleep? Master! What are you doing? Is it another vision?" ... Nothing. Perfect.

Kona carefully lifted her head up, and saw that her eyes were still open, and darting around. Her muscles tensed up, as if she was under attack. No doubt another vision. This was the last thing a pregnant goddess needed. To be having visions inside a bar with milk spilled on her.

Then Kona got an idea. Werent dreams and visions of the etherreal, and if so, then wouldnt it be possible to observe or even intereact with these dreams if one was to enter the ethereal? It was worth a shot. Konahomaru did not want Veronna to turn insane, or kill herself, becuase of a few visions.

Konahomaru then slowly pushed her back into her seat, and removed all of her weapons so she wouldnt hurt herself. Then he concentrated, and started to remove his soul from his body. Soul Walk. Slowly he felt his soul slip away from his body, and his primitive functions taking control of it. I hope this works he thought.

Veronna looked at her mother, scared, the first time in a long time had she felt this scared. But when ever she got scared it normally went to anger then killing. but this time she couldn't move and that made her even more the scared, mostly about her child then herself, but she felt something different about the child as her thoughts wandered to her stomach, she wasn't sure if it was good or not. Then Veronna felt something ripple through the place, almost as if the whole tavern was water. And then her mother's attention was off Veronna as she looked around, anger on her face.
Then Veronna realized she could move again, as if her mothers stare had frozen her in place, she could now move with her mother not looking. The first thing she did was go for her scimitars, which were about three feet from her in opposite directions. So she went on to her hands and knees and went for the one to her left fisrt. But before she could reach it her mother looked at her again and sent another blast at her. Veronna flew back and hit the wall, also hitting the back of her head but not knocking her out.
Veronna's mother was concentrating on something, she wasn't sure what, but then her mother spoke again, "Know this Veronna, that I will come for you. And your friends won't be able to help you again." And with that everything dissapeared and Veronna saw she was at the table again.

She felt tired, as if she had been fighting or something of the sorts. She couldn't focus on anything at the moment and that had her off a little; she liked being able to see around her. Then she remembered what she felt just a second ago, something about her child, she wasn't sure what quite yet, she had to think about it more, but right now wasn't the time.

She wanted to say something to Kona, but she had no strenght to talk, she couldn't do anything at moment.
Veronna felt her eyes close as she blacked out yet again, and this she could tell it would be longer then last time.
