Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Dead and empty night; anyone I guess....

The night seemed to get worse as the storm grew stronger and rain just constantly poured. It seemed to go on forever. Everyone in the village had gone inside their homes and the taverns and inns seemed dead and empty. The whole village seemed dead and empty. Zero walked had entered Kellen and noticed the village was completley empty. Zero had nowhere to stay or sleep in. His clothes were drenched and his hair was soakened and his wings got heavier because they were soaked as well. There was a figure in the darkness. But Zero could barley see anything with all the rain pouring tremedously. He really couldnt rely on any magic he knew because it was mainly fire. That was no use by the looks of the bad weather outside.

Zero ran to the tavern down the corner and knocked loudly on the doors. No one would answer. The place seemed empty. In fact, every house he scanned looked empty as if no one was there. Something had happened here in the village. Kellen wasnt ever empty like this before. Zero remembered the the small figure he had spotted. Was it really safe to go out and find out what or who it was? Zero sprinted his way to the spot he saw the figure. It was no longer there anymore. He nodded his head quickly and had no idea what to do anymore. He ran back to the tavern and took shelter under the awning for now. He would find out what happened to Kellen once the the weather calmed itself. But Zero doubted that this weather would calm.

Nessa ran quietly along the streets. She had gotten quite lost in the Hauntwood Marsh near the Debon Plains and had only just recently gained help from a undead named Wart. All she was looking for now was the person she had gotten seperated from before wandering into the marsh, but the rain made her vision limited. She thought she was heading to the tavern, and her hope began to build as she saw the outline of the building.

The Moon Elf slammed into something, or someone, just as she reached the door. She fell back, landing in a puddle and dropping her staff. As she scrambled to rearm herself, Nessa squinted against the rain to see the thing she had run into. She saw the faint outline of wings, if that was possible. But that was all she could get. Her right hand grabbed onto her small and simple wooden staff, pulling it to her as she stood carefully.
"Who's there!?"

The young seventeen year old had almost been completley knocked over. He balanced himself as he noticed something or someone ran into him. Zero looked down with a hand over his eyes so his vision was a little more clear to him. He noticed a girl with a staff that held her up. Who the hell? Zero's eyes grew wide and he began to wonder why this girl was in such a rush. He couldnt just stand there and stare at her as if she had gone crazy or something. Hey are you okay? What are you doing here. I think this place is dead. There is no one here in the village. Do you know what happened here? Zero waited for her response and wondered what she had been doing out in the severe weather as well. My name is Zero. Whats yours? Thats all he had to say for now. Hopefully he got some information from her.

Nessa listen quietly as the boy asked many questions, all of which made no sense to her. She thought for a moment and then answered each question in its own turn, carefully. "I'm fine. I'm here in Kellen because I'm searching for refuge from the rain. This village could not be dead. There must be something; and no, I do not know what happened her, let alone what you are talking about. My name is Nessa Nenmacil, nice to meet you Zero."

The Moon Elf walked forward and tapped lightly on the tavern door. She wondered lightly why the boy wasn't inside and then found the door to be locked. With a sigh, Nessa began to think out what to do next. She spoke quietly: "I'm going to break the glass of the window with my staff. Follow me, if it pleases you."

With that Nessa stepped back out into the ran and walked carefully over to a window. She squinted through the rain and held her staff up high, pushing into the window. A shattering sound met her ears and bits of glass hit her arms. None stuck, thankfully, and the elf carefully climbed into the tavern. There were no lights, but that was alright. She could see everything. There were no people within the tavern, which was odd. Nessa didn't think about it much at the moment, instead she looked back out at the rain to Zero. "I hope they don't make me pay for the window." She laughed lightly and then turned once more, eyes the silent room carefully.

Unlike most of the people in the village, Meera loved the rain. And so she stood face lifted towards the heavens. There was some sort of beauty through the drenched clothes, wings, and hair on the woman as she let out a joyful laugh. She looked at a window and saw a villager give her a weird look, then shake his head and shut the shades on his window. Meera rolled her eyes and shook her head. Many in this town called her weird, Meera didn't care, she loved the rain, even though it temporarily disabled her wings and fire magic, it allowed her to feel a bit of freedom and relax. Bringing her face back down the the streets of Kellen, Meera slicked her soaked hair back against her head, pulling it into a sloppy ponytail with a scrap peice of leather. Now finally she looked around again. She doubted anyone would be in the streets but to her surprise, she noted two of them. They both stood on a doorstep. With the combined effects of the night and the rain, she could not tell who they were.

Curious, Meera began to walk towards them. The shapes slowly got clearer but not to the point of identification. She could only tell that one, a boy, had wings and the other, a girl, did not. Finally arriving close enough that she could see them almost clearly, she recognized a long-time friend of hers, Zero, and another that she had never seen before. She didn't know if they had seen her, but she watched as the girl walked over to the window and smashed it open with her staff, Meera's mouth hung agape. She said "excuse me, but why are you breaking into that inn?" With a bit of supressed anger. Her eyes drifting back to Zero she gave him a small weak smile and said "good to see you," then nodded at him. She returned her attention to the woman again and her eyes became cold. There were many things that Meera could have done to stop and punish her for breaking and entering but it was not like her to do that and she was going to give the girl a chance to explain her rash actions.

Aegion finally entered the Village of Kellen after days of travelling, temporarily taking shelter under the great horse-inspired architecture of the thick main gateway. For that he was greatful. He uncovered his head, that was previously taking 'shelter' from his leather cloak, and he wore the leather cloak, this time around his body to keep himself warm. He took this opportunity to gather his thoughts and observe what he could see, if he could see anything at all due to the heavy rain and the freezing mist already rising from the ground.

Aegion listened to his own thoughts, a method that only a person with great concentration can do. He block out most external noises and focused on his emotions to gather and consolidate his own thoughts. He was angry yet relieved at the same time. Angry that the rain just had to start when he was only half a day away from Kellen, and relieved that he had not lost his way and finally reached the correct place. He mentally thanked his magical map for showing him the way around. Aegion had went to Kellen to find the Seer Eish Neckturn, otherwise known as "Sky Visage".

The Village of Kellen was empty, which is obvious due to the heavy rain. However, he noticed some faint silhouettes moving about in the rain further up. There are just black shapes, no lights or luminary substances around.

He temporarily covered his head with his leather cloak again, and rushed over, finally reaching the area. He quickly took shelter under the awning of the building. Glancing at the worded tile above the door, he concluded that it must be tavern.

Aegion glanced around and noticed 3 people taking shelter too. However, they don't look like Native Kellen villagers to him.

They are probably adventurers like me.

The most glaring thing that caught his attention, however, was the stern look on a woman's face, glaring at another girl.

This woman's face is rather familiar... I think that I've seen her before at the Deep Cities Mountains while helping Azrael with the prisoners.

He followed the woman's glare and realized that the window of the tavern was broken by some kind of blunt object, and his eyes finally settled on the girl's staff. Knowing that a confrontation was going to happen, he kept his thoughts and words to himself and walked further away from them, still remaining under shelter.

Nessa was surprised to suddenly find herself on the receiving end of a woman's anger. A shiver came over her and she looked around a bit more before answer the women's question: "The door was locked and I wanted in. I was not going to steal anything, only get shelter from the rain." Nessa sighed and mentally slapped herself for making such a stupid, childish mistake. It was times like these that she needed her friend her to make sure she did the right thing.

The Moon Elf began to feel arould her plain clothes, finding a small bag of gold. She frowned at the fact that she would lose much money repaying the for the window but she knew that it had to be done. Nessa looked to the woman, looking her over quickly and then asking:

"Who are you, if I may ask, ma'am?"

Zero stood there and watched Nessa break the window open. His jaw dropped slightley and silently stared at her. Umm....what did you just do? Zero didnt intend to follow her inside. It wasnt the right thing to do. Breaking in a tavern like that wasnt something Zero would have usually done. But in most cases he could understand. Zero could only hear rain in the background and a familiar voice was heard. Zero looked to the side and listened. The voice sounded Meera. Zero tilted his head a little more to look at the figure behind him.
Zero had greeted Meera back. Yea..its nice to see you too Meera. But what are you doing here? This place is almost dead!

Zero then turned his attention to Nessa as she began to speak. Zero could tell that she didnt mean to actually break in for the wrong purpose. Or that no one would take this the wrong way. Zero could understand why she did this. Well, sort of. But he didnt know how breaking in would solve anything. Zero nodded his head and took a few steps back. It was odd but Zero felt like it wasnt just only the three of them there. He got the feeling another presence was nearby. Zero ignored that for now and focused on what went on. Though Zero thought the situation was a little funny.

(Im bored, and i was planning on just watching this rp, but it got to interesting. lol. I hope you all dont mind, besides i might be able to offer the source of the rainfall.)

Kona was inside the building that Nessa had broken into. His heart was broken. Not long ago, Zorgn and another fiend had atacked the village. Zorgn had set fire to it again. In the battle, Konahomaru had managed to stimulate a rainfall by summoning massive amounts of lightning during the fight. The rain had quelled the flames, erasing all traces of there being a fire. The rain was to dense to be able to see any of the burn marks.

Kona stood, weak and weary. He had run out of energy, only his pure will to live had allowed him to endure, instead of dieng out. He staggered, and pulled out his lightning blade. A few rebellious sparks flew off of it, still white hot from all of the lightning. Konas own sparks were equaly rebelious, flying off of his body as he created friction with the ground. He took a breath, and leaned on his sword. "Who are you? cough... What have you come here for? Do you not know that every-GAG! ... cough... has left. They are al gone..." Kona fell, face first. He couldnt detect any evil, so he just layed there, a circle of sparks rose and flittered everywhere when he made impact with the ground.

"Please.. help me. I cannot rely on myself any longer."

Meera shook her sopping wet head dissapointedly. If this girl had been telling the truth and only had broken into the inn because she needed shelter, than that possibly told that she had a good alignment, but not always the smartest brain. This led Meera to the decision that she could let off on her a bit, but did not mean that Meera would become the best of friends with her and they would live happily ever after. That was not the way that Meera was, she was not necessarily a person to hold a grudge, but first impressions always seemed to stick with her no matter wether they be bad or good. If she happened to get along somewhat with this girl, the rememberance of what she had done the first time she had met her would still linger with Meera. Normally Meera would be overjoyed to see a very good friend that she hadn't talked with in a while, but now there was a more important matter.

Finally, somewhat grudgingly Meera answered the girl's question with two words, "Meera. You?" Then all of a sudden, she heard a sound coming from inside the inn. She whispered out "what the.." then heard his plea for help and launched herself from the doorstep to the windowsill, her boots crunching any of the remnants of glass that remained on the windowframe. She looked in the window and saw the man on the floor. Quickly she went down to him. She didn't know what happened but he obviously needed some sort of healing. Quickly she cast her greater heal spell on him and hoped that did something to help him out. Suddenly taking control of the situation Meera looked to Nessa. She thought -a small chance to redeem herself somewhat in my eyes- . Then asked her "would you kindly find me a glass?" She wanted to give this man some water because it looked as if he would need it.

Nessa watched Meera for a moment before eyeing the man on the floor. The Moon Elf watched quietly as Meera did her spell, amazed at the power. When the woman spoke, she was immediately forced into action. She dropped her staff and ran to the bar top, jumping over lightly and landing where the bar keep would stand. Being behind the bar gave the rest of the tavern a whole new look; one could see everything in the room without leaving the safety of the "back". Nessa mumbled something under her breath and began seaching for a cup of some kind: she had no time to concentrate on the tavern or different views and what not. Grabbing the first cup she could find, the Moon Elf quickly ran and gathered water.

"Here, miss." Nessa reached Meera in a limited amount of time, holding out the cup which was filled to the brim with water. Not a drop had been spilled onto the floor. "My name is Nessa Nenmacil. Nice to meet you. Will he be alright?"

Meera said no words as Nessa handed her the water. She slowly placed it down and concentrated her motions now on flipping the man over. When she touched him, she could feel the raw heat and saw some sparks leap up from him. Thinking back to her expanseful knowledge of water spells, she remembered one that could help her out. The last thing they would need would be for the whole inn to catch on fire with one of those sparks that the man was letting out. She quickly remembered her sea breeze and cast it. The ground around them instantly moistened and made it harder for any of the sparks to catch. Thinking quickly while some of the moistness hadn't evaporated from the man's body, she flipped him over lightly and lay his head in her lap. She was used to caring for injured people, having been in many a battles during her lifetime. Looking at him she saw the exhausted look on his face and felt the heat from his overworked body. Looking at Nessa again she asked "could you bring me another glass, this time empty though." She wanted to use her own water for his face. It would be cooler and probably help him cool off.

Meera felt a drop land on her hand that was cradling the man's head and realized how soaking both her and her clothes were. Brushing back a stray hair behind her ear she squeezed as much of the moisture as she could out of it. It would have to do for now. Meera spoke to the man, she didn't know if he could hear her, but it was worth a try. She said "Hello sir, are you at least feeling a tad bit better?" She was trying to find out wether her healing spell had worked that much. To help him feel a small sense of hope she cast her spell aid which healed him a little more as well as giving him a feeling of hope and joy.

Kona had heard the woman speak to him. The water was cooling and soothing. He could feel his electric currents being diverted into the ground. Accepting the water that was given him, he drunk deeply. "Thank you... ugh.. HACK!" Kona roled over, so as not to throw up on the woman. "uhhh... please excuse me. I had been poisoned while i was trying to defend the town." He crawled over to the bar, and sat against it. His head was rolling, and his aura returned. Lightning bolts flew out and ground against everything in the room, most of them heading straight for the wet woman. Before they could electrocute her, Kona quickly pulled his aura back into himself. Rebellious spraks continued to flow out of him. He was to weak to control it.

"Quickly. Take me outside before i start another fire. Or electrocute somone. I will be better once i get in the rain." Once he was outside, Konahomaru could strike himself with lightning. It would be immensly painfull, but would return his electrical power. An essential thing, since this is what gave him his immense amount of energy and endurance. "As soon as i get outside, step clear of me. You may get hurt." Kona stood and leaned against the bar, waiting for the others to assist him outside.

Aegion had been watching the happenings in the shadows in a corner of the tavern, slipping into the tavern unnoticed while the two women are conversing to each other. When he realized that there was a wounded man inside also, he was about to step forward to help him, but when he noticed a water mage healing that man, he stepped back, letting 'nature' take its course.

Of course, using water to heal. What an ingenious idea. After all, water is the basic necessity, as well as the only element that is apparent in all realms. Water is the only thing that two most extreme realms ever discovered, Heaven and Hell, has. People may think that scorching Hell does not have water, but the molten lava contains water, as well as the thundering firestorms ahead. I guess I should learn from her - I'll start learning the Aqua Discipline of magic after recovering back all my lost skills.

When the man said that he needed to go outside, Aegion decided that it was time that he showed himself, and stepped out of the shadows. He put the man's hand over his shoulder, and let his healing magic pass over to the man when physical contact has been made.

"Feeling better?", he murmured to the man. "Ready to go outside?"

Meera suddenly had a sense of realization. Those sparks were not of fire, they were of lightning. That had made her water magic even more harmful to her. When the man threw up, she was still not phased all of this was almost routine to what she was used to. Standing up, she watched him crawl to the bar. She didn't know the whole story behind the man, but he looked immensely exhausted and almost unable to control himself. She realized how much she was in danger being wet, but that didn't matter to her. She watched him with a steady eye making sure that he was still okay. When he asked them to take him outside she became very puzzled. She knew that if she were to obey what he wished, he would be electrocuted and that would cause immense pain. Since she knew what would happen if she did what he said, she would never be able to forgive herself. The good heart inside of her hated to see anyone in pain especially when she knew she could have done something about it.

Meera looked away from the man and said "I'm sorry sir, but I cannot do something that I know would cause you pain. You could get yourself killed and I would never forgive myself." She hated to not do what he wished, but with the circumstances, it was worse to disobey him then see his face when he got shocked with the lightning. To her the choice was hard. If someone else were to help him it wouldn't be as bad but she would still feel very guilty. She didn't know exactly why the man wanted to shock himself but the outcome seemed grim. Meera's heart tightened in her chest as she just looked steadily at the man. Then she saw the other man come out of the shadows. She raised a brow at him as he tried to heal him again, but not wanting to be rude, she said nothing. When he offered to take the man outside she had to turn away again, this time facing the wall and a hand on the side of her chin.
