| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

She pushed the wooden door open and stepped inside, letting her hood fall from her head. The inn was cheery, with some men singing in a corner of the common room, accompanied by some instruments, and it was warm - quite different from the streets she'd just come from. Brynn crossed the room, moving around some dancers. Her forest-green cloak was pushed back and tonight she was wearing her light blue dress with gold and silver belt and arm buttons. Her hand went to her hair and moved it out of her eyes - the top half of her long hair was in a messy bun, while the lower half was down to flow around her back and shoulders. She made it to the bar and got an ale from the barman. With a quick smile, she paid him and then moved away to find an empty table. She spotted one and sat down quickly - the idea of this night was to get away from the darkness of the night and the sound of death - just for a while, Brynn needed a break. For the first time in weeks, she felt herself smile with actual warmth as she watched the happy dancers. Taking a drink, she wished she felt so safe and happy. |

Zydus came into the Inn, noisely. It was quite cold outside, and he wanted to get some warmth into him. He quickly made his way to the bar, where he asked the nearest barman to give him some ale. He paid the barman, and walked away from the bar, sitting at a table near the woman in the dress. He began to drink his ale, slowly, and tried to take in as much heat as he could. He liked to be in the heat, especially on cold days, as it made him feel even warmer to be inside when he knew that outside, it was freezing. Zydus looked around the Inn, from the dancers to the instrument-playing men. Zydus sat back comfortably, still sipping at his ale -- trying to make it last as long as he could, for he had nothing else planned to do that night. He was thinking of staying in the Inn for the night, as he planned to leave the next morning. Thinking to himself, he quickly glanced at the woman in the corner. She didn't look like a local, or so he thought, but even Zydus wasn't a local so it didn't matter much to him. |

As Brynn watched one of the dancers spin around the room, her eyes fell on a man who had sat down near her and caught him looking at her. She was about to send him an almost painful glare, then remembered why she was at the inn in the first place. And he was not about to attack her, that was clear. So she relaxed back into her seat and smiled invitingly at him. She could use some company, but she wasn't one to start a conversation unless she really had to. Keeping her crystal-blue eyes on him, she took a sip of ale. It wasn't mistrust that led her to keep watching him - merely habit. |

Zydus looked away back at the dancers for a few seconds, when he saw that the woman was staring at him. He didn't know what to think, and decided to just keep looking at the dancers. He wasn't intimidated, and smirked to himself thinking, it's not as if she's going to suddenly try and attack him. Though, after a short time, he turned back to look at her, seeing that she was still keeping a close watch on him. Zydus knew he probably caused her to suspect him, as he was looking at her just a few moments before. Finally, Zydus decided to speak to her. Taking a gulp of ale, he asked her a question -- not being smart or anything, but just wondering, as conversation was very thin in the Inn tonight even though music was playing. "...are you alright?" |

Brynn hadn't expected him to speak, but she smiled slightly when he did, and lowered her eyes slightly, feeling a bit guilty for watching him. He must have thought her strange - in the warm inn light and sound of music, she hardly seemed intimidating. "Perfectly, thank you," she said softly, though just loud enough for him to hear. Her voice wasn't weak; just soft. "And you?" She was referring to him looking at her before, though it had only been a quick glance. If anyone was odd, it was her. |

Zydus smirked. "The same." He took another drink of his ale, and began to speak to the woman. "As you can see, conversation is not very high in the inn today...would it be fine with you, if I was to join your company?" Zydus was hoping she would agree, for he was bored tonight, and wanted to talk with someone. Quickly, Zydus finished his ale, and walked over to the bar. He handed it to the barmaid, and swiftly returned to his table. "You can say no if you want." He didn't want to seem like a forceful person -- something which he was not. |

Brynn smiled at his words. If she hadn't wanted him sitting with her, she wouldn't have even smiled. But he wasn't to know this. "Of course," she said, nodding to the chair opposite her at the small table. "Be my guest." She took another drink as he sat. "What brings you to the inn this night?" she asked him, though at the same time wondering how she was going to manage a proper conversation - something she hadn't had in quite some time. ((OOC: Aegion wants to know if he can join in, but be introduced to Brynn by Zydus, seeing as they know each other?)) |

Zydus greatfully sat down at the woman's table. "Thank you." He smiled, shyly at her, for he had not known a woman's company for quite some time. "I just came into the Inn, for I need somewhere to stay the night in...I met a friend on the way. Would it be fine with you if he could join us?" Zydus looked around to see where his friend was. He gazed back at the woman, noticing she was quite attractive at the same time. "By the way, my name is Zydus...Zydus Kelsin, and may I have the grace of knowing your name?" OOC: Sure, as you can see, i have introduced Aegion as being a friend. All he has to do now is post to join in. |

"That would be fine." Brynn answered, though she felt slightly nervous at the thought of two people to talk to - she hurridly squashed the fear of being out-numbered. Zydus Kelsin, she thought, rolling the name over in her mind, making herself repeat it in her head - it helped to her remember things. When asked for her name, Brynn smiled and gave Zydus a quick glance-over. She figured she could trust him with her name. "Brynn Ryder," she said warmly. It occured to her that she should pretend to be a nice, young, decent woman. "Is that grace enough?" Her eyes were suddenly drawn to a figure entering the inn. Turning her attention back to the man, she smiled wearily. She had to relax. "Are you a local man, Zydus?" she asked him. |

Zydus' face went slightly saddened. "Oh...no, I'm not local, well not now anyway." He gazed at the table. "I was born here, but didn't live here for too long." Slowly, he continued. "My short life in Taras couldn't really make me a local, if you get what I mean." He was starting to confuse, even himself. "Anyway...enough about me. What about you? Are you from the area?" Zydus, though, had guessed she wasn't earlier, but that didn't mean he was right. |

As she took another drink, Brynn listened to his short story and was surprised to feel slightly sad herself, just thinking about his saddness. OK, that's a little too relaxed, she told herself, but she couldn't help it. "I do understand," she said in a flat voice. Then she sighed. "I'm not a local, either. Well ... I suppose not. I grew up elsewhere, but came here a few months ago - it would be going on four, I think, very soon. I haven't actually been to many places though - well, not the interiors, anyway." She looked into her mug and realised her drink was gone. Sighing, she crossed her right leg over her left at the knee and leaned back slightly, though her arms were crossed. "Is this your first time back since you left, or have you been here before?" She could only imagine going back to Hikla after so long - not that there would be any of it left, of course. |

Zydus noticed Brynn sighing, and then decided to answer her question instead of asking why she sighed. He prefered not to seem nosey. "This is my second time here, actually....though it may as well be my first." He glanced out the window, and then looked back at Brynn again. "This is my first time here in nearly 2 years, I think." Sitting back, he put his two hands behind his head, to use them as a head rest. "I rarely come to Taras...only visiting it when I need to, or when I want to - which isn't often." Zydus stared about the room, listening to the lively music being played. |

Aegion entered the Song of Elves Tavern & Inn and hung his freezing leather cloak on a nearby coat-hanger. He cast a small enchantment on the cloak to prevent anyone but its rightful owner to take or remove anything from the cloak. He shuddered from the cold and moved towards the bar counter, where refreshments are served, with the added bonus of the comfortable blazing fireplace nearby. Scanning the beverage menu, he was surprised to find Zaradior Spirits being served. The Zaradior Spirit was his favourite beverage back when he was in the City of Zaradior, it contains a certain ingredient called Caffeine and it tastes just excellent - refreshing yet it does not corrupt a man's soul and keeps him sober. "Warm Zaradior Spirit, please." The bartender smiled warmly and handed Aegion a mug of Zaradior Spirits. He handed some gold coins over and turned around to face the fireplace, his overall body temperature gradually warming up, thawing some of the ice shards around him. He grinned gratefully, and sipped from his mug, surveying the scene for his new friend, Zydus. They had entered this inn, but due to an influx of adventurers bustling about he had lost sight of his friend. His powers of observation quickly helped him, and his eyes settled on a nearby table where Zydus was. He seemed to be deep in conversation with a beautiful young lady. She doesn't seem like a Taras citizen, then again, which adventurer here is a local? He took a moment to down his Zaradior Spirit, then savoured the lingering taste, letting out a sigh of contentment as the anticipated warmness rush through his body, finally adjusting his body temperature back to normal. He walked over to his friend, and put a hand on his shoulder, "We meet again, Sir Kelsin. Apologies if I seem to be interrupting your conversation, but who is this graceful young lady here?" He gestured at the woman Zydus was talking to. (( OOC: In case you were wondering, Zaradior Spirits is the medieval version of our modern day beverage, Coffee - which is me and my character's favourite drink. )) |

Brynn was about to reply to Zydus when a man approached their table and clapped Zydus' shoulder. Brynn guessed that this was the friend that Zydus had mentioned. The man was quite attractive, but Brynn never worried about such things anymore. What had caught her attention was what he'd called Zydus. "Sir Kelsin?" she repeated, staring at the two men. They were knights? Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all ... Brynn decided that she'd stay for a few minutes, and if nothing that suited her was said, she'd excuse herself. She did not need to be meddling with knights. Trying to maintain her image, she then smiled gracefully at the man. "I'm Brynn Ryder," she said politely. |

Aegion tilted his head slightly and replied, "Pleased to be of your acquaintance, Lady Ryder." He moved back a step and did a small bow, "Aegion Ragnarok, at your service." Aegion looked into her eyes and realized that she was now apprehensive about them. He gazed deeper into her soul and found that she was kind of reckless in nature, not like the rich ladies that live in the Upper State of Taras, but with a personality that suited a rogue or assassin. Still, he could not find any maliciousness or evil in her. He glanced at Zydus and decided to keep this information to himself. "No, my lady, I am not a knight. I am... something else. The closest thing that you can call me is a cleric, I suppose." |
