Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

((I don't believe we've ever met. Also, not everyone has the grounds to come up and say hi so casually unless they're a friend of Varila's))

Varila looked at Terrance and laughed. "You see, the path that you must follow will not leap out at you. You must find it for yourself, find what you were meant to do here. If you wish to learn magic, there is an academy not incredibly far from here. I never learned my magic formally, so I wouldn't be the best teacher." She glared daggers at Konahomaru for a split second and then returned her attention to the boy. "Just make sure you don't hurt yourself."

She couldn't help but shake her head in dismay at some of the people who were cropping up. It wasn't the lack of deference that she minded so much as the fact that he disregarded her credibility without ever having met her. Perhaps he had heard from Celeste, the little fairy, but there were very few others whom she had treated that terribly. Mostly, she had spats with a few people and left them, but she had very few true enemies in Imythess.

Swordplay. Magic. Magic. Swordplay. It wasn't really that hard of a decision. Terrance nodded his head and got up off of the fence.

"Sorry, Mr, um, swordsman, but no, thank-you," he said to the swordsman. Terrance looked up at Varila and smiled, chuckled too. "I'm still have expecting to wake up at any moment from a dream. Well, I'm off then." He started walking away, then realized he didn't know where he was going.

"Um, eh-heh, uh... where exactly is this academy, exactly, more or less?" Terrance knew nothing of this land, so it would make sense that he didn't know where he was.

"It's that way," she said, pointing in the direction of the academy of magic. "You'll find it eventually if you travel long enough. Hopefully, you can fend for yourself for a while..." After a quick farewell, she walked off to attend to her own business. Her eyes were half closed as she contemplated the matters of her own life. Everything seemed to be falling to pieces now. What was that boy doing here and how had he gotten there?

Drawing her dagger, she resumed her place against the building and sharpened it on a rock. It was a lazy day and she didn't yet feel like returning to her temple. Here, it was quiet, and she didn't have to worry about whispers from the past.

((sorry if it offends you, but i dont think you read my history. Every celetial, unless your a new goddes, knows who Konahomaru is.MAybe not as a freind, or even an aqcuantence, but somehow knows of him.))

Kona got wide eyed and fell over himself when Varilla gave him that look. ~Dam! I shouldve minded my manners!~ he thought, his aura getting a little brighter. HE stood up, and turned to Terrance. "Boy! What is your name? I wish to help you get to your destination, seeing as how you are to cowardly to confront any evil that may pass your way. What say you?"

"My name is Terrance," said Terrance, even though he had already told him his name. "And thanks, I suppose. And I'm not cowardly!" he said in a little bit of a huff. "It's just that... no one's ever tried to kill me before." Terrance thought for a moment about certain times in his live and realised that he probably was cowardly, but he didn't say that out loud.

So, casting nearly everything his parents told him about strangers, Terrance went with... wait, what's his name?

"Um, who are you?" he asked, emphasising the 'you,' but not in a rude or mean kind of way.

Kona knew the boy was lying, but wouldnt violate his confidence in that at this time. "I am Konahomaru, Son of Light. I use Light and Lightning to accomplish my goals." he said, smiling. For some reason Kona felt the need to reassure this boy in every way possible, as if he would need it at some important time later on. Kona had never taken an apprentice, and this boy clearly wanted to go to the academy, but maybe he could teach Terrance a few things along the way.

"Do you have any further questions? Or would you like to start on our way?" he asked.

Terrance had a lot of questions. He had accepted the fact that he's in Imythess, although it still seems unreal.

"Ya, actually, I have a lot of questions. First off, how are we getting there? I don't see any cars around here..." Cars, of course, are like wagons, but instead of a horse or two to make it move, it has a mechanical device in it which turns the wheel. This mechanical device runs on something called gassoline, which as of lately has gone way up in price.

Konahomaru was surprised by this boys comment, actually to the point of actually showing expression on his face. It almost hurt, the last time he had done so was 13 years ago. Giving Terrance a confused look, his blank eyes narrowing and his white eybrows raising, Kona said "Have you no intelligence boy? We are going to walk of course! Now, if you were more fit we would run, and get there probably a day or two fsater, but i can see you are not in shape." said Kona as he looked meaningly at Terrances arms and legs.

"Nevertheless, you are going to need this. I will let you borrow it for some time. IT is forged to be a very light sword, so i dont think you will have trouble raising it." Kona drew his Katana from its sheath, and examined it quickly, then offered it to Terrance. "I am not letting you keep it. I need it just in case this breaks" then he drew his Lightning Blade, and struck a nearby grounhog with lightning. "The farmers will be thanking me. Trust me." he put it back, and then waited for Terrance to say something.

Terrance was finding things in this world different than what he was used to by the second. No cars, walking for days to get somewhere, and zapping things with lightning bolts using a sword. Lots of new things.

"Hey!" he said kind of angrily at the comment about his out-of-shape-ness, but then made a motion signifying that Konahomaru was right, and that Terrance didn't mind. "Days, did you say? We'd better get moving then, shouldn't we." He accepted the sword from Konahomaru, and it wasn't very heavy, maybe like a large stick. Of course, sticks aren't as sharp. They started walking out of the village.

"I should really make a list of everything," Terrance said, whipping out his journal which had a pencil, a mechanical pencil, and a couple of black pens in a pocket on the inside front cover, searching for somewhere to put the sword. After a couple of seconds he decided just to hold it and the journal in his left hand, while writing with a pencil in his right. In a kind of oldish writing style that he had seen in a book, he wrote:

Liste of Ye Totally Bizzare Thinges Whereever I Ame

Ye Thinge The Firste: No Cars
Ye Thinge The Seconde: Walk EVERYWHERE, for dayes even.
Ye Thinge The Thirde: Ye Zappage of Ye Groundhogs withe Ye lightning bolte is poifectly fine.

AS they were walking, Kona glanced at what Terrance was writing. It piqued his curiosity. "Why do you spell those words so awkwardly? With the e's after them? Were you a scribe of some sort where you come from?" he asked, wondring why this boy would write words so funny. Kona had seen it before, but very few actually wrote that way.

"Hm?" muttered Terrance, somewhat surprised that Konahomaru took notice of his writings and such such. "Oh, I don't know. I just felt like it, I suppose." Scribe? Was that actually a job? There were secritaries...

"And no, I wasn't a scribe. I'm only 14; I can't get an actual job. At least not 'till I'm 15. Of course, even then it's probably working at McDonald's or something like that." As Terranced said that, he realized that Kona probably had no idea what a McDonald's was, but didn't say anything. "A lot of jobs require you to go to college, most require that you've finished highshool."

"Ah! A higher learning. No doubt the reason why you want to go to the Academy of Arms. I had followed a similar course, only i acheived my education in Celestia. Also known as heaven, if you will." said Kona as he took a quick look around the path. There were petty theives on this road sometimes. A trained eye could spot them easily.

The only way Kona had known that Terrance meant a higher learning, was that he mentioned High School. Konahomaru knew what a school was, but this college thing? perhaps it is similar to an academy? Hewould find out later most likely.

"Academy of Arms?" Terrance said, slightly alarmmed. "I though we were going to the Academy of Magic." They had been walking for quite a while by now, and it would really suck if thay were walking the wrong way. He would deal with the being trained in heavan part later.

((Ish Crappy Post. I'm just not in it right now, what with finals at school and everything))

"Well, if you want to learn magic instead you can. They are not far from each other. However i recomend you learn both. I doubt you will get to train in heaven, but, that doesnt make you weak or anything to that affect. Im just a little more priveleged."

~This kid is very observant. I wonder how many other 'mistakes' of mine he will catch? This boy will certaintly make a formidable warrior one day. HE merely needs to overcome his fear.~

"Fine I'll learn some sword stuff too..." said Terrance. He didn't exactly like to idea of chopping someone up... but that demon thing did try to kill him. "They wouldn't happen to teach archery there, would they?" he asked. "I'm half decent at that..." He was too. He hadn't done much archery, but he was ok.

"Did you say you trained in heaven? Woa. Would that mean you're a god?" Terrance was still getting culture shocks by the second. Here they were, walking down some path, and this guy says he's trained in heaven. ~I really must add this to my list later. And the fact that gods walk the earth.~
