| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

A young boy, around thirteen or fourteen, wandered into town. He had a large mop of dark, slightly curly, almost-shoulder-length hair on his head. He wore a red shirt, blue pants, and held a book in his right hand. And he had no idea where he was. Originally this boy had come from Earth. No, not the element earth or the ground you walk on. It was a different planet completely. I suppose you could call him an alien, but that kinda ruins the whole fantasy genre. It might have been fine if this boy had come from medieval Europe (Europe is a continent on this far-away planet,) but he wasn't. He was from 21st century North America (another continent). Very North Americain fact, from a legendary place called Canada (that's a very cold country on the far away planet), so he wasn't used to seeing medieval villages. The boy thought he had wandered into some historical park or something. His name was Terrance. He had gone camping with his parents in some campground somewhere, and wandred off to find the bathroom early one morning. After walking for half an hour, he decided to turn around, but the path had closed behind him. When he turned around again, he found a village. When he turned around again, the forest was gone, it was just prarie. Surely he's a little freaked out by now. "Where the heck am I?" he asked out loud to himself. |

"The wonderfull Village of Kellen, or the outskirts, I guess. You from Talas or something, boy?" Zorgn sat atop a fence running around some farmer or other's domain. Cattle grazed in the distance, fearing to come close to the winged monster. The beasts were smarter than most so-called 'intelligent' beings, they stayed away and let him do as he pleased. "Speak up, boy. You some outlander? Got seperated from a caravan or something?" (OOC - Interesting char, I hope it works out.) |

The strange figure sitting on the fence startled the young boy, you could swear he jumped a foot in the air with an "Aahh!" After a moment, Terrance realized the man was wearing a costume, but really he wasn't. Although, come to think of it, this costume wasn't exactly fitting with a medieval village. "Oh. Fwew, you scared me. Na, I'm from Somewheresville." He glanced up and down the figure, then said, "What's with the costume? Halloween's not for months yet." Ah, what a stupid, stupid child. |

Varila watched from afar, leaning against a building. The child's clothes were strange, like nothing she had ever seen before. She wore her sleeveless off-white blouse and dark green skirt, it being a hot summer day. Her hair was done up in a long ponytail that dangled a few inches below her shoulders. Icy blue eyes stared at this child from behind a few strands of loose hair. He was intriguing, like nothing else she had ever seen in Kellen. I wonder what he's up to, she thought to herself, cocking her head curiously. Never seen anyone like him. A dark aura was visible around the outline of her body if one looked hard enough as she watched and waited, poised as a cat, ready to strike with the glaive slung across her back if need be. |

Zorgn slid off the fence and flexed his wings. The kid thought he was a normal person. If he did not belive, Zorgn was prepared to kill him. He'd drink his blood and then feed him to Vorite, where ever the big cat was. You seem to be mistaken. I am not wearing a costume, outlander. (OOC - my reply sucks, but you can work with it, right?) |

((Gee, hmm...... Aha!)) Being the cowardly child he was, Terrance backed up a few steps. Terrance was also paranoid, and had a very over active imagination for his age. "Okay then," he said said with a nervous chuckle in his voice. "You're really starting to creep me out now..." Backing up a few more steps Terrance's voice slowly became a kind of whimper. He clutched his journal full of drawings tightly, it being the only thing in the whole of Imythess that brought him comfort. Back on Earth there were many things that brought him comfort: TV, video games, his parents, his house, and even that stuffed monkey that just sat in his closet at home. But none of those things were here. Nope. Nada. Nine. Zippo. Etc, etc, etc. |

Seeing the creature rise from his position, Varila fingered the handle of her glaive readily. A dagger was in its sheath, ready for use should she need it. Well, he's definitely very cowardly, Varila thought, watching the boy clutch his small book like a security blanket. She was ready to cut in if need be, but somebody else would have to attack first to lure her out of her very comfortable spot against the wall. |

Zorgn was enraged by the boy's cowardice. Cowards did not deserve to live here, yet zorgn would not dirty his hands killing an unworthy fool such as him. "Coward. You act smaller than you are. Get a sword, kill a dragon or two, and when you are less of a weakling and a coward I will seek you out." Zorgn would fight him when he was no longer a coward. Until then, he was not worthy to die by Zorgn's hand. Zorgn turned from the boy and launched himself into the air. He flew north, not caring where he went, so long as he was away from the boy. (i insulted you, but avoided killing you. yay me, lol.) |

~Holy!~ thought Terrance as the strange figure flew away. ~He can fly!~ In Terrance's world, people didn't fly. They rode in great metal birds called "airplanes", but they didn't actually fly. Because it was so strange to him, he just stared for a moment as he flew away. After the initial shock wore off, he began to realize what happened. "He was gonna kill me." he muttered monotonously. "He was gonna kill me. He flew. People don't fly. Sword? Kill a dragon? It's like I'm in some medieval fantasy world, where people fly and kill dragons and cast magical spells, and gods walk the earth. I'm nuts!" Terrance was walking in circles by this point. "No, stop it. I'm in Canada, the year is 2005, It's June... something. People fly in airplanes, not with wings. No one uses swords anymore!" Terrance stopped walking in circles and sat down on the fence. "I'm nuts!" he said, dropping his journal on the ground. "I've gone nuts," he whispered. "Completely nuts..." |

Varila stepped forward, looking the boy over. "Hm, you've got a lot to learn if you're going to make it here," she muttered, relaxing her arm as she let go of the glaive. Her icy blue eyes stared down at him in a pretty sort of way as she weighed him in her mind. "First off, if you can't fight or talk yourself out of things, it's rather unwise to confront demons and the like. They'll literally eat you alive." She brushed a stray lock of ebon hair behind her ear and watched. This boy was still shorter than her, so he couldn't have been too old. "So, I'd say you're about fourteen years of age?" she said. "If so, you should already have learned a little bit of swordplay. Today, children don't have to fight, but those of your age should at least have begun to learn." She shook her head in disappointment and looked up at the sky in her distraction, feeling the breeze blow her hair back in a dark stream. |

Even though the woman may have been trying to give Terrance advice, it really didn't work that well. "Demon?! Did you say Demon?!" Where Terrance came from, demons didn't exist. If they did, few people believed in their existance. "What do you mean demon? Demon's aren't real! And what the hell do you mean, swordplay? Swordplay! You say that like it's the most normal thing in the world." Terrance was really starting to freak out now. "And where the hell is here, anyway?! Where am I? I've never heard of Kellen, or Talas. Tell me exactly where I am. I've feeling really insecure right now, scared even, maybe paranoid, so you might as well include province, country, continent, and planet. I'm sure I'm going overboard, but he FLEW! With WINGS! And you talk of swordplay like it's as normal as, oh, this fence here! I suppose the next thing you'll say is that people use magic like it was the most normal and factual thing ever, and gods and goddesses walk the earth, and knights go on noble quests to slay dragons!" He stopped to breath for a moment, then looked up at the woman. "Where am I? Have I gone nuts?" |

"You are in Imythess," Varila replied. "My name is Varila, and this place has been around for a very long time." At his listing of several things he thought to be unbelievable, she laughed musically and shook her head. "You see, you're not in your home anymore; this land may not be as...advanced as yours, but it's my home. I am one of those goddesses who walks the earth." Her outline glowed with an aura of dark lightning, crackling along her fingertips but not harming her at all. "My brother began to learn swordplay when he was half your age, child," she said. "If you're going to wander the land of Imythess, you had best know how to defend yourself. Otherwise, demons like that one who just flew away will eat you alive." She smirked at his ignorance, wondering where he really had come from. Hardly anyone around here reacted that way to the things she had told him about. Everybody had to defend themselves to some extent. There were certain dangers out there that would bode ill if one was unarmed. |

((Heh heh. I wonder if the boy will think Kona is a superhero?)) Border patroll. Konahomaru hated it, of the few things he had any strong feelings about. Passing around a rather large oak tree, he saw somebody flying off. Looking closer, he ntoiced it was zorgn, a wanted criminal for burning down Kellen. "Damn!" he shouted, his aura letting loose ina a burst of light and sparks. "Ill get you next time!" he siad, shaking hsi fist. he sighed, then looked over to see a strange looking boy. One look at his face nad Kona knew exactly what this kids problem was. Then he saw Varilla. ~Oh, just perfect, now to top it all off, the Goddes of Deception is here. The only person in celestia or below that gets on my nerves...~ Kona walked up, and said "Hi Varilla. May i ask who you are young man?" Konahomaru could read the fear and paranoia on his face like an open book. "Why are you so frightened? She is only the Goddes of Deception. The worst she can do is make your life your worst nightmare, for as long as you live" he continued on, smiling. |

Terrance was struck dumbfounded. His brain had somehow stopped trying to question everything that was happening. He had a blank expression on his face. "But, hoo- wha- e- ah- oo- wha-" he stumbled out, trying to say something, but couldn't. He just sat on the fence, staring at the ground. "My name is Terrance," he monotonously said after a while. "Why do I believe you? I shouldn't believe you, because this shouldn't be happening, but it is." "I could never use a sword. They're big, sharp hunks of metal, heavy too, or so I should think." He paused for a moment, then picked up his journal, wiped some of the dust off, then opened it up to a specific page. It depicted a stick figure hurling fireballs, brewing lightning storms, and summoning all sorts of creatures. The creatures were drawn very well, and where made to look even better than the stick figure. "I can't draw people. Dragons I can draw wonderful, but people?" He sighed. "The night I drew this, I thought to myself, 'If I ever get stuck in some fantasy world, that's what I' love to be.' A magician, a wizard, or whatever other terms you use. I've always loved the thought of magic, even something very simple, whatever that might be." Terrance looked up at Varila. "What must I do?" ((That last line just screams LOTR. Sorry I've kind of ignored you, Username. Right now, Terrance can only handle so much at a time.)) |

((Thats ok terrance. Kona can sense your characters feelings, and so perfectly understand whats going on.)) "I dont suppose the one brewing lightning storms would be me?" he asked, trying to at least add some cheer to the one-sided conversation. "Very well. When you are done reveling in the world you have created, com to me and i shall teach you how to hold a weapon." Konahomaru turned, and walked over to the tree. He sat down, and closed his eyes gently. It was going to rain soon, he could feel it. He hoped there would be lightning, so he could have fun with it. |
