Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Nora entered the Bloodseal Tavern wearing a white and red dress that was covered by her black cloak. The hood hid her face, which had paled a lot since she last looked. Orion was perched, as usual, on her shoulder with his tail wrapped around her cloaked neck.

"It is extremely important that we sit at the third seat from the door," he said through their mind link.

"What?"

"I said-"

"I know what you said! I get the feeling this is a prank. Are you feeling alright?"

"I'm fine! Just sit at the stupid seat! Mistress, how many times have I led you wrong?"

"Fine... I'll sit at the stupid seat."

Nora seated herself at the third seat from the door just as Orion had told her, and ordered an ale. "I'm gonna need this if Orion-"

"I heard that!"

"So why this seat?" She asked after she finished the drink.

"You'll see."

The bartender came back to her, looking a little frightened. This was odd, as he was a very large, muscular man with a gruff attitude, and she was a young slender woman. She looked at him from under her hood as he wrung his hands, and tried many times to speak. Finally something squeaked out of his mouth,"Your room is ready, ma'am."

"Sir, I didn't get a room," she said, pulling her hood back and raising her eyebrows. The man looked even more frightened when she revealed her face.

"B-but-"

"I'll take the room," she sighed," How much is this gonna cost me?"

"Nothing at all m'lady. Its on the house."

"Ok," Nora said, slightly disturbed by the sudden hospitality,"Thank you...I guess."

She accepted the skeleton key he was holding out to her with a shaking hand. She was curious as to what was so terribly frightening about her and this room, and clambered up the stairs. The key was to room thirteen. She read off the numbers on the doors. Ten. Eleven. Twelve...Fourteen? What had become of thirteen? A small sign over a staircase at the end of the hall read in spidery letters "TO ROOM THIRTEEN".

She climbed up the stairs hesitantly. At the top was a door with the number 13 on it. The doornob was dusty, as though it hadn't been used in a long while. She opened the door slowly, and jumped as it creaked. She screamed as the door opened, but clapped her mouth over her hand to muffle it.

The room was perfect. It was luxurious, beautiful, and perfectly matched her taste. One would think it delightful, but there was something terribly frightening about having a room to your exact design made without your knowing.

On the bed which was covered with white linens and maroon velvet was and old tome. She sat on the bed and opened it. The pages flipped on there own to the four-hundred and forty-third leaf. On it was a picture of herself when she was younger and her parents hadn't locked her away. On the opposite was a picture of what she would become. Over it was enscribed the words 'Winged Vampiress Nora Belladonna'.

She screamed, and Orion lept off her shoulder. She cast away the book, and bolted out of the room. She fled down the stairs and into the bar. As she was about to leave a hand caught her shoulder, and a gruff voice said," Where you goin' lovey?"

She looked up in fear, and then behind her. Where was Orion? She gasped at the man who was smiling. Two shining fangs replaced his canine teeth and his dark eyes glittered. Fear consumed her. He chuckled and gripped her arm tighter.

'So what the hell's you're name, anyway?' The guard scowled, stamped one foot in annoyance. It was still a little chilly in Taras, and that annoyed her.

'...Darres? Demonica? Demona? Denmark? Zilthai? Zed? Zee? Choose one, I don't care anymore.' The demon sounded resigned, and Zin shook her head, steering herself towards the Bloodseal tavern, deciding any alcohol would be good at the moment.

'Isn't Darres a male name?'

'...'

'Oh, Nevermind. Zilthai.'
The demon seemed to swell in the back of her mind for a moment, then sniffed, tapped on the side of Zin's mind.

'You are a Guard, right? Right.' Zin paused in mid-step towards the bar, and gave a half-nod, spoke aloud.

"Yeah."

'Damsel in distress at three'o'clock, ELF.'

Zin turned on her heel, and her lips curled back in a snarl. The hood of her cloak shadowed her own features as she stormed over to the vampire and his apparent captive, drawing one of her numerous bladed weapons in a quick motion.

"Just what do you think you're doing?"

The girl's voice was overloaded with disdain as she held her blade pointed at the man's throat, and, although the faint trace of fear at the sight of his teeth was evidenced by a sudden, tremor in her hand, steadied quickly, she stood firm, drawing herself up to her full height.

"Let the girl go, you....hoodlum....and I might decide to spare you the pain of being stabbed through the heart with this blade!"

Internally, however, she was crying that she should have bought stakes when she'd had the chance, and that the demon was terrible to have brought this to her attention.

'YOU SUCK!'

'Well, it is your job...'
'Zilthai's' voice was sickeningly sweet, sing-song in the guard's mind.

'You directed me here on purpose!' A mental hiss, a furious snarl.

'Of course.'

Zilthai's laughter echoed in the girl's mind.

((...my post seems obscenely short, and I apologize for this...))

The vampire chuckled and hissed menacingly at the woman, and then at Nora. Nora's brow furrowed, and she hissed back, exposing pointed canines.

"Oh my god," she said quietly, and clapped a hand over her mouth. The vampire let go of her arm, and began to walk back very slowly. He squinted at her and did double takes.

"I-I-I," he stuttered, still backing off.

Nora was backing away, too, and stuttering the same vowel. Three questions rang loud in her mind. "What the hell is going on?" was the most prominent. "Since when do I hiss and have pointed teeth?" was the second, and "Where is Orion?" was the third.

The third was quickly answered as she felt Orion's weight on her shoulder.

"Where did you come from?" she asked him.

"All in good time," he replied,"Right now you and I should get out of here."

"Ok."

Nora ran as fast as her feet could take her out of the tavern, and quickly yelled a thank-you to the woman-guard. She took off in mid-run, gliding down the street and sending a shady looking pair to the ground. She smoothly landed in an alley, and shrank into the shadows, praying that noone was about.

Zin kept her blade trained on the male vampire, and managed to keep herself from dropping her sword when the woman hissed right back at him.

His reaction was even more surprising. "Uh..." Her blade dipped towards the floor, and she actually jumped a foot as a feline raced past, towards the woman.

'A cat?'

'Don't ask me!'

She was further confused as the woman ran out, the cat on her shoulder, sparing her a thank-you, but no explanation.

Her startled yell came a few seconds late. "Hey-WAIT-!"

She skittered out the door, only to see the woman race around the corner. She shoved her sword into one of her belts, and shoved a few loose strands from her face.

"Gods...So we're going after her, right?" The girl stiffened, then shoved the demon back. "Stay out of my way!"

'Alright, alright, cripes, temper temper half-blood.'

"Shut up!" The guard paused, then started in the direction she'd seen the woman race off in, calling out every few minutes.

"Hello-Gods...what am I doing-HELLO?" Her voice echoed faintly as she continued walking, boots clicking on the cobbles.
