| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Mosvani walked through the crowded streets, heading towards the Song of Elves Tavern & Inn while ignoring the stares he received. He had arrived this morning with Nora, and they had parted ways to take care of odds and ends and agreed to meet up at the inn by afternoon. He had finished up a bit early, and it wasn't quite afternoon yet, for he had only a few bounties to collect on. He was at the inn before he knew it, and he found that not many people were here this early. Most he assumed were probably gone for the day, only to return at night to drink and listen to whatever entertainment would be here tonight. He purchased two rooms, side by side, from the innkeeper who asked no questions. He simply took the money and handed over the keys while giving him a stern stare and simply stated he wanted no trouble in his ends. Assuring him their would be none from him, Mosvani went to check both the rooms out. The rooms were nice, made up beds that were soft, and a desk with one chair to the side of the room. This was the first time he had stayed at the Song of Elves, choosing the Bloodseal Tavern normally due to being able to get information out of the occupants easily. Satisfied with the rooms, he left his pack with supplies in his room and left, locking the door behind him. Walking back to the common room, he sat down at the bar and ordered a glass of water while he waited for Nora to arrive. |

It was a mostly clear night, except for Konahomaru. He was making his rounds, passing the Song of Elves tavern, and something like he had never felt for quite a long time hit him in the face like a brick wall. So surprising was this to him he even lost the ability to hide his aura and a bright flash filled the streets momentarily, scaring several of the citizens. Gaining control of it, he said" Dont worry! It is just a misfire! No need to fear attack! I am a gaurd, you are safe here!" After calming the citizens he began walking inside the bar. the presence was stronger here. |

Nora seemingly skipped into the Song of Elves Tavern & Inn. Though, her joyious entrance was clumsily managed as she tried to press her somewhat cumbersome wings into her back, so as to be less conpicous. A slender black cat was perched on her shoulder, mewing a bit at her jubilant saunter. His shockingly green eyes were very much akin to Nora's own, and he seemed to blend in against his mistress' own black hair. Mewing again, much louder this time, he pawed at Nora's ear, as though trying to tell her to stop jostling about. Nora grabbed her feline companion from her shoulder, and held the cat in her arms, crooning over him. "Oh stop it, Orion,"she said, as though speaking to a young child. Turning her attention away from the cat that lay purring contently in her arms, she scanned the tavern for Mosvani. Spotting him, she walked hurridly to where he sat, and pulled up a chair next to him. Smiling, and letting Orion hop out of her arms onto the bar and then to her shoulder, she said, "Hello brother! I expect you've had a good time in Taras so far. Oh, and this little scamp is Orion,"she pointed to the little cat on her shoulder as he pawed at one of her wild curls. Pulling the curl out of his paws, she scolded him with a quick tap on the nose. |

Konahomaru stood in the lobby, watching the waiters walk about tending to guests. Looking in the corner of the room, he saw a avraiel elf female. Closing his eyes for a breif period, he saw that she also had an evil tinge about her. As she approached the man in the corner, Konahomaru immediatly recognized him. It was a half-fiend, the exact opposite of a half-celestial. Kona's eyes began blazing with blue flames of anger, against the backdrop of their white compsure. *Control yourself!* he said to himself. *He may not be after anyone. It seems he is talking to the elf. Dont lose it again like you did on the street. If you do he may find you and you may be forced to fight him.* Avoiding confrontation for now, kona walked into a corner of the room and stood around casually. When nobody was looking, he bent the light around him to make it appear as if he was wearing a red coat and green pants, instead of a blue coat and pants. It would be harder for the fiend to recgognize him. In this plane of existence, Kona was not well known at all, but on the battlefields of the higher planes, everyone knew about the youngest half-celestial. Even the underworld. |

Mosvani continued to sip from his glass of water, occasionaly glancing up at the door to see if Nora had entered yet. It was on one such occasion that a man walked in, who seemed a bit... Odd to Mosvani. It was almost as if the man was intent on looking for him, but he payed him no mind, going back to drinking his water. Then he heard a familar voice, and with a smile he looked up. Nora had entered the tavern, and seemed to be scolding a cat, before she spotted him and joiend him at the table. The cat, Orion, seemed to be looking at him curiously, as if measuring who this new person taking his masters attention was. Laughing to himself, he greeted Nora. "Hello Sister! Taras is the same as always, and it is a pleasure to meet you Orion. Have you been a good kitten for Gwin?" He was oblivious to the Half-Celestial's anger towards him, and continued to talk to Nora, who seemed to be in great spirits. "I got us rooms, if you have anything you need carried up, i'll do it for you. It seems to me you have been having a great time so far. Is it everything you had hoped for here?"He was happy to see her like this, she had been steadily improving since their time in the ruins. He hoped that when she enrolled in the Academy of Magic, she would be so enthralled with her studies that she would find herself. He smiled warmly at her, waiting to hear tales of her adventure in teh city for the day. |

Listening intently, he could pick out the fiend mention two rooms. Kona decided to investigate, and went to the inn keeper. "I am Konahomaru of the Taras Gaurd. I need to investigate your inn, i suspect foul play is afoot in here. Where are the last two most recently taken rooms?" "Upstairs, at the end of the hallway. I dont want any trouble officer, if you find something please dont get mad at me. Its the funny looking man over there." said the keeper as he nodded in the fiends direction. Kona's anger grew even hotter, and the aura erupted from his eyes, spilling out sparks and light. Quickly he turned away so the fiend wouldnt see him, and ignored the trembling inn keeper as he stormed up the stairs and went down the hallway. Reaching the first room, Kona removed the latch because he did not have a key or lok pick set, and opened the door. When he stepped inside, there was nothing of any interest. Merely a bed, a dresser for clothing, and a chest to keep things in. Walking over to the chest, he opened it to find it empty. Kona stepped out and replaced the latch, then walked over to the next room and did the same. Again nothing. Puzzled, Konahomaru sat on the bed and silently fumed. *He has to be up to something! If i dont catch anybody anytime soon in a act of villany, the Commisioner may doubt my ability!* |

((Oops! Wrong account! Sorry, guys. Won't happen again!)) "All that I hoped for and more,"Nora responded, stroking Orion's glossy coat,"It's been quite a day. The best I've had since waking up and finding you, anyways. Little Orion had scampered out of a pet shop, and I found him. Of course, the clerk was furious, calling the poor little guy a pile of monstrous names. Had quite colorful vocabulary, that guy. But, I managed to get him to calm down, and I bought this lil' guy. A strange thing hapenned today,"she looked around, making sure noone was listening, and quieting her voice continued,"An elderly lady stopped me. She said something positively dreadful about Orion. She said he was some 'magical being encased in the body of a cat', and warned me not to take off his collar. I learned later she was the clerk's mother." Orion hissed when she began to talk about the clerk's mother. He crouched down into her mane of thick curls, trying to hide away,. He mewed loudly into her ear as it to say,"Shut up!" Nora gazed up at the cat at firt with annoyance, and then with concern. "I think she may be right,"she muttered. Sudennly, she sensed they were being watched, and carefully scanned the inn. Making sure to be quick so their observer wouldn't realize she had picked up on them, she laid her eyes on a man with brightly shining eyes that were spitting sparks. "That man,"she said to Mosvani, making sure again that noone could hear her,"The one with the strange eyes, he's been watching us." Her eyes followed the strange man as he stormed up the stairs. |

Mosvani listened to her story about the cat, and fought to contain laughter. He doubted the story, but did not deny the possiblity of him being a man in reality. Still, if the merchants had wanted to get more money out o fher, they would have done it before teh sell not after. Intrigued he looked at the cat while Nora began looking around the room. "So, Orion is your prince in disquise huh?"When she turned back, he face seemed slightly alarmed. Standing stiff as she told him her suspicions, he looked toward the stairs but did not see the man. Standing, he spoke softly to Nora."It's time I showed you your room, let's go."He walked to the stairs, not waiting on her responce, and looked at the Innkeeper as he passed. The innkeeper had a thin layer of sweat on his top brow, and he gazed at Mosvani as if he might destroy the tavern. Shaking his head, he walked up the stairs and down the hall toward their rooms. Coming to Nora's room, the door was still locked. He walked down one room, and found the latch on his door was missing. Motioning for Nora to hang back, he drew his shadow daggers that vibrated feintly in anticipation of feeding. He quiely spoke the words Drii Quena under his breath, and his skin melted away into mist. He walked back towards Nora's room and entered it, then passed through the wall that seperated her room from his. The man was sitting on the bed, back turned to Mosvani, and seemed to be mttering to himself. The room looked to have been searched, tho he saw no sign of his pack, meaning the man obviously had not found it. He saw no one else, meaning the man was alone, so he let his form dropped and spoke, daggers ready for defense."I saw you walk into the bar. I had not pegged you for such an abysmal thief, but I see now I was wrong. What are you doing in my room? And I a highly advise you too keep your hands away from your weapon." The man had struck him as odd when he walked in, and now that he was closer he had the same feeling again. Who was this man? What did he want? Was he after Nora? Killing him would result in trouble, he'd have to avoid it if possible. However, he wouldn't work too hard to avoid it, he hated such lowly thieves. No honor. |

In his anger, Konahomaru had unkowingly ignored the fiend slip through the wall. Hearing his voice, he wasnt entirely startled. This was Kona's domain. Sensing his motive, he did not really want to kill Konahomaru, but had thought that he was a theif. "So. It is your suspicion that i may be a theif is it? Well, you are mistaken. I would never resort to such lowbrow tactics. However. i was indeed searching your room" said Kona as he casually stood and turned to face the feind. "There is no sense in hiding who i am from you, since being the person you are the minute you look in my eyes you will know." After saying that, Konahomaru looked up and into the mans face and stared into his eyes, his pure white gaze painting targets all over him, unbeknownst to the man. Then, in a brilliant flash of energy, he let loose his aura. Immediatly the light and sparks flowed out of his eyes, and a globe of white and blue light surrounded him. Stepping into the mans face, he said "Let us play a guessing game, shall we? You get three guesses. For each incorrect guess, i will become harder and harder to see. I am good at escaping after all. Now, you are to guess who i am. Secondly you are to guess why i am here, and thirdly you are to guess what i am going to do to you." Konahomaru did not need to draw his katana. It was gaurd regulation to have a visible weapon, but Konahomaru had no real use for it. |

Nora furrowed her brow at Mosvani's expression after she told him the story. Just as she was about to make her rebutle, he told her it was time to see her room-of course she knew it was to follow the strange man. She followed him up the stairs, Orion still howling on her shoulder. She was surprised when he pulled the daggers from their sheaths, and even more so when he transformed himself into mist. Patiently waiting back, she pulled Orion off her shoulder. He was struggling to get out of her grasp, and scratching at her hands. In one final attempt to be free he bit her. "Orion!"Nora gasped in surprise as the little black cat scrambled for the door. She fell back onto the floor with a resounding thud. He managed to slip under the door-No, it was more of a slide. Or had he transformed into something different alltogether? Had he made himself thinner? Orion entered the room silently behind Mosvani. He hadn't intended to have to bite his Mistress, but it was the only thing he could do to get away. He had to protect Nora, and how could he do that if she was holding him like she would a normal cat? The little 'cat' had stumbled in as the suspicious man had let loose his aura. The shine blinded Orion for a moment, and his pupils became tiny black slits on a feild of green. He recognized what the strange man was, and arched his back, ready to pounce (or worse if need be). He listened to the man speak, intently. "His questions are unfair," thought the little black cat,"Mistress' friend won't be able to answer them." Now little Orion had a stressing descison to make. Slip out of his collar so he could talk, or stay in his cat form? The collar was the only thing from restraining his original self. He would probably kill both his Mistress and her friend if he shucked it. But, if he stayed as cat he couldn't help. Oh, what a pressing question for so small a cat. In the end, taking off his collar seemed best. It would only be a couple of minutes, right? What could possibly go wrong? He slid out of his gold collar, shrinking and twisting in a grotesque manner until he was finally free. His cat formquivered for a moment, and then it split, a large tiger made entirely of shadow emerging from it. In a grizzly voice that crackled with dark magic he said,"I'm not exactly a prince, but it works, right?" He prowled around in front of Mosvani, arching his back, and growling with a sound like two great rocks being ground against eachother. His eyes were gone, replaced with bright orange flames, and his mouth was made of the same magical fire. He swung his tail back and forth, growling menacingly. His original self's mentality to kill everything wouldn't take over for about ten minutes. "That should be more than enough time," he thought. |

Konahomaru was not expecting a black cat to come in and turn into a raging tiger with fire for eyes. "Life throws a curve ball at every turn" he said outloud, as he casually looked it up and down, appraising its strength and size. "At best a nuisance. However, you do not wish to hurt me entirely, like your companion here, and amazingly, it seems you can only hold this for a few minutes before it takes you. You had better speak fast while your freind thinks. What have you to say to me?" said Kona. *A transforming cat. Cool. ill have to get one someday!* he thought to himself. |

((Sorry, I did it again...Mosvani, please PM me on my other account. I keep answering your PMs then automatically responding to this topic. Having to accounts is frustrating...)) Orion paced around intimidatingly, growling menacingly. After a couple minutes of contemplation he replied to the cocky half-celestial in his magic-ridden voice," You are Konahomaru, everyone on the Planes knows that. You are here because you have suspicions concerning my Mistress and her friend. You wish to slay my Mistress' friend with a weapon you conceal behind your back like a coward, and I cannot allow that." On the other side of the door Nora had her ear pressed against the door. She wouldn't disobey Mosvani's orders, and it probably wasn't safe in there anyways. She recognized Mosvani's voice, but the other two were foriegn. One reminded her of Orion, which startled her, and the other was that of a young man. A wide-eyed crowd of spectators were crowed around her. "What's going on 'ere?"asked the innkeeper. Nora refused to respond, and he almost attempted to knock her away until he saw that her hand was on the hilt of her sword. "I suggest you all leave before I must draw my weapon,"she said, firmly. A few hesitated, but the others all left. "Good bluff,"she thought. The voice that reminded her of Orion said something about his 'Mistress' and her friend. "Oh my lord, it is Orion!,"she thought. It was so startling that she thought that she had almost said it aloud, but it didn't matter, the crowd was gone. She shook violently as she rested her hand on the doorknob. "Don't go in!"screamed a voice in her head. It was Orion's voice. "Please, don't go in, Mistress! Please, it isn't safe!"it said-he said...Orion said. "O-okay,"she responded mentally. This was all overwhelming. How could a cat she bought from an ordinary clerk in an ordinary shop be talking to her? She decided that she had obviously gone mad. |

Mosvani was slightly taken back by the audacity of the thief to outright ignore him telling him not to move. He was even more surprised when a large feline, that looked like a larger version of Orion with flaming eyes and mouth spoke to hime. What it said made hi mrealize that it was indeed Orion! Quickly getting a hold of himself, he answered the thief's questions. "Simple questions. First you are a thief, second you are searching for something to steal, and third you will be bleeding on me. Blood has a habit of ruining clothes you know, and is a nuisance to clean up. You picked the wrong room, thief. You are also trapped, and it is no use trying to escape. Now you will answer my questions. Who sent you, and what are you after? The cat can detect lies, so I don't suggest you try. For each lie, I will remove a finger. Don't make this messier then it has to be." He'd have to ask Nora about the cat again later, or talk to himself. Still the shop keepers mother warning rang in his ears. Would the cat lose it's mind, or had they been needlessly worried? More questions, and no time for the answers. Speaking agian, more firmly."Times a ticken thief. If you don't answer soon, i'll have to assume a cat's got your tongue and kill you off. You'd do well to speak now." |

Konahomaru raised an eyebrow at the feind. "Very well. You have answered all of them wrong. You should have listened to the kitten. However, i am finding this quite amusing, which is an unusual thing for me. I will play along." he said, casually playing with his fingers, as if he was taking count of them to make sure all were there before he started to talk. "I am the Talas City Gaurd Konahomaru. As your cat stated, i am well known an the celestial plane, and infamous on the darker one. I have come here to do a random room inspection. I am not necesarily trying to steal anything from you, however, if i did find any contraband i would have confiscated it. So, as you can see you have mistaken me for something i am not." Explained Kona. After saying that he looked again at his hands, wiggled them in front of Mosvani's face tauntingly, then put them in his pockets. Taking a casual stance, he turned to the transforming cat and offered his right hand in an attempt to pet it. A peace offering, he did not want to upset the cat. He had nothing against it. However, the abomination in front of him still was angering him. |

Orion greated Konahomaru's gesture with a growl. He arched his back. "Oh no!"he thought,"Oh no, I've taken too much time!" Quickly, he spun around to face Mosvani. "Get my collar! Quickly!"he yelped. He could feel his lust for blood coming back. In the back of his throat an evil cackle was scrambling to get out. He tryed to contain himself by merely standing still, but that wasn't going to contain him for long. Quickly, he darted into a closet, and nudged the door shut. "That'll keep me contained for a while. Or make me look stupid,"he thought. On the other side of the door, Nora was pacing impatiently. Quickly making the descision to intervene, she tried to open the door. Locked. Just as she was about to attempt to knock the door down, she felt a surge of anxiety. "Orion!"she yelled, reaching for the doorknob. It opened this time! "Orion!"she gasped again, taking up his collar, and rushing over to the closet where she sensed his presence. She ripped the closet open, and clasped the collar around his neck. "Mistress!"she heard his voice exclaim in her head as he lept up into her arms,"I told you to stay outside!" "You've got some explaining to do, little kitten,"she said aloud, ignoring his chastizing. Turning to Mosvani, she said,"What happenned? Was I right?" |
