Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Tamris slipped out of the tiny house at the edge of town, her sack laden with stolen items. Silver lit eyes darted around as she checked for anyone who might catch her. Tonight it looked like she was playing thief rather than assassin, though she still had a job or two to finish. She ran down the alley along the building, feeling the cool air against her and the buildings pass in slow blurs. Her hiding place was just behind the inn, in a rather indiscreet but well trapped barrel that smelled like it had once contained wine. The half-elf disarmed the trap and dumped the stuff into it in a few seconds, while peering at the shadows around her to make sure she was still alone. Then she carefully reset it and pushed the barrel into obscurity.

Then, fingering the familar grip of the sword and scimitar, Tamris turned and disappeared into the shadows again. The village was small, and the assassin had been through several of the houses already, even though they contained little in the way of valuables. Which was a real disappointment.

Tamris alighted on the stairs of a building that led up to a second floor. It must have been an inn, though the assassin didn't care if it was or not. She checked the lock and was amazed that it was even unlocked; whoever was here really didn't care about thieves or assassin's wandering in to kill them. Idiots. The half-elf smiled, opened the door and stepped inside.

Skorne lay on the bed, resting so that he could try to go to sleep. His eyes were closed, but for some reason sleep eluded him this night, so he soon realized that someone had entered the room. He remained still, listening intently to try and determine where they were. He cursed his luck that he had left his scimitar and shield on the other side of the room. He would have to rely on his magic alone until he got to his weapons. His magic was already summoned, ready should he need to act fast. This was one thief that would regret they had tried to steal his things. He realized the stupidity in a part of his plan. If he waited too long, then the thief might make away with some of his items, and he couldn't allow that.

His bright eyes snapped open, and a globe of darkness appeared, covering up the entire bed with a few feet on either side. He rolled to his right, hoping that he wouldn't end up getting closer to the thief. Coming out of the roll, he saw that luck was on his side, the thief was on the other side of the room. Uttering two more spells, he prepared to defend himself. A flaming whip appeared in his left hand, and the other one grew sharp claws, the same shade as the globe that was covering the bed still.

Tamris had already taken a good look around for valuables or anything else she could steal. There wasn't much, a few weapons and some armour. Tamris wasn't interested in that.

Instead, she noted the occupant in the room and his sudden take on the defensive. She blinked and suddenly her face broke into a bright smile as she noted the other spells that had been cast.

"Good morning, fellow elven, it's a bit early to be so alert, wouldn't ya say? But that is a wonderful trick, " She clapped her hands, saying no more. Let him make the assumptions. One would say that the assassin was acting very childish right about now. Stealth was no longer an issue, for Tamris knew that whoever was here knew that she was here. The logic behind that made her head hurt. Tamris looked about. There wasn't much here in the way of stealing things, so she figured that she'd need a good look at this person's face first to know if he was one of the people she was after. Which was easier said than done, for attempting to look past magical darkness was a tough task.

Skorne was surprised to hear the thief talking to him. Still, he had little to steal, the only thing that might have been worth anything was is ring, and even that wasn't worth much. Wanting to get a good look at this thief, he let the globe of darkness go, clearing the room. He still held onto the whip, but the claws also left his hand. He didn't want to start a fight here, for it would surely end up with him paying for any damages, but he wasn't about let anyone try to attack him. "It may be early, but caution never hurt me." Skorne walked to the foot of the bed, getting closer to the person, his bright eyes getting a good look at them.

It was easy to see that she was an elf, even if she hadn't already stated it. It was also easy to see that she was armed, though Skorne wasn't sure how skilled she was. She must have been pretty confident of her skills, if she just entered any room she found and spoke openly to him. "What brings you to my temporary home?"

Tamris shrugged and took a good look at the elf as he lowered the defences. "Your valuables," she said pointedly. It was a blunt enough answer, if not a fairly reckless one. It was true though. She held out her hand as if expecting the man would simply put them there. Of course, Tamris knew he wouldn't. And even if he did, she'd still kill him afterward. She just couldn't have people running of to the guard and reporting her, now could she? No, no darnit she could not.

She shot him a sidelong look, mocking sadness as if she really didn't want to do this. That really wasn't the truth, Tamris was an assassin... she lived for killing. A smile grew softly as she kept her hand outstretched. "If you don't hand them over calmly, I'm afraid I'll have to kill you. And we don't want that now, do we?"

Skorne smiled, amused at the attitude this thief was taking. Yes, she must be very confident with her skills if she could assume such an attitude. "Well, I guess I am going to have to dissappoint you, the few things of value I have, no one will take from me. So either leave or you will regret it." Skorne held the whip ready, once again summoning magic that would aid him. He was unsure how this person fought, so he would have to be careful the first few attacks. Still, he could heal himself if he needed to. If this thief thought they could just take his valuables, then she was wrong. "If you want my stuff, you will have to work for it." Skorne waited, his weight resting evenly on his legs, ready to move to any side if he needed to.

Let's see how this thief fights in the dark, when they can't see. Skorne was ready, already forming a plan as to how he could end this fight without any misshap. He would have to use his magic more than he liked, but it would do until he got his weapons. "Time to dance."

"Oh I'm sure you don't," she said quietly, watching the magic all around her. "But now that you're awake, and you know I'm here... well that just isn't such a good situation is it?" CasuallyT amris drew both her scimitars. Quicksilver in the left, its silver white blade flaring eagerly for blood, and Sorelen's quieter orange flame in her right. She regarded both blades for a second, then drew them up in a cross above her head. "Yes, dance," she echoed like a child. Eyes gleaming bright silver, Tamris continued, raising her eyes to meet the armed and alert elf. "My swords love dances,"

In an instant Tamris was air bourne as she flew at the elf, blade reeling in a silver and orange blur around her, forming a protective ball. She attacked like any attack an assassin made, quickly, precisely and with every intention to kill. The half-elf herself didn't even realise that she was laughing. "Yes elf," she said again. What fun this would be. "My swords really do love dances!"

Skorne almost laughed. The attack might have been fast to someone untrained, but he to was an assassin, so this thief might as well have been walking. He quickly dove to the side, throwing a spell behind him. A bright flash lit up the room, followed by a loud noise that was sure to wake up several people. Skorne knew it wasn't one of the smartest spells to use, for it affected anyone in the area, but he was willing to take the risk. Getting up quickly, he picked up his scimitar, taking the familiar hilt in his right hand. He left the shield laying where it was, the extra weight would only slow him down, and he would need to be quick if he planned on defeating this foe. Skorne had let the whip go when he had tried to avoid the attack, not wanting to set anything on fire. He woudl need another weapon if he was to fight this person. He summoned the dark magic once again, claws growing swiftly out of his fingers. These claws were as good as any knife, and they were shaper.

Turning, he prepared to deal with the next attack, wanting to see how this person fought before trying to strike back. It wouldn't do to try and hit an unknown foe, he could very well end up the worse for that foolish mistake, it was a lesson he had learned long ago. "Is that it? if it is, then you had better give up now and stop wasting my time."

Laughing wildly, Tamris flew by him. As she did, Sorelen snapped back into its sheath. When she landed from the lunge, the half-elf turned back to him. "Aye," she told him, her eyes twinkling in merriment. "That's it," she turned to face him, a smile upon her face. Yes, one could say that Tamris truly was enjoying this. "That IS it," she repeated, holding up a ring she had taken from his figure as she flew by. "Isn't it?"

The half-elf knew that his spell was noisy, and most likely would attract others soon. She glanced at the window, then back at the elf. Clenching her hand into a fist, Tamris moved as if to punch the air, then opened it. A fireball erupted from the palm of her hand at the elf. Laughing, she watched as the carpet and wooden object caught on fire, but didn't stop to wonder if he had dodged it or not. "Time for me to leave now..."she told him merrily. "Have a restful morning,"

With that, Tamris darted for the window and the roof, her lithe form a blur.

((Mmmmm.... I don't think lifting your ring is technically against any rules.))

(hope you dont mind me entering. if ya dont just delete the post.)

Wandering was something Konahomaru did very often, considering he had been transported to the mortal plane of existence against his will. While battling in a field, on the plane of darkness, he was teleported here by a mage. Now, outside the village of Kessen, Kona took a brief glance at the rustic surroundings.

It was a favorite pastime of his to use his light ability's to watch all the inhabitants of a village or to when he was bored. This village however carried some more interesting events. To his suprise their was a dark alligned elf and a elf assasin fighting each other. Watching them fight each other for a few minutes, Kona was not unduly worried that the assassin would get the other elfs valuables, considering he had very few.

A few times he even lost the ability to see what was going on, considering the flashes of dark energy inside the room obscuring anything. Eventually the thief got away, and Kona decided to suprise her.

Using his great agility he was below the elf in a matter of seconds, while she was still airborne from the window. ~Hopefully the mortals here dont flip out about a demi-god entering the village. Last time i entered one all the inhabitants wanted me to be their guest.~ he thought to himself.

Still not to worried about any danger, he spoke up to the elf, his soft but clear voice filling the air. "An unsuccesfull robbery. Too bad he had little to steal. You should really make your decisions wiser. I am Konahomaru, A master of light and lighting. What is your name?"

((ooh no that's perfectly fine. *smile* Advanced, eh?))

Tamris swiveled as she landed, the voice reaching her ears faster than the halo of dirt rose from her impact. She turned in a flurry of black fabric, her swords snapping expertly from their scabbards. Her silver eyes radiated furiously at the thought of being caught unaware, but stoically the assassin disciplined her features and returned to the cold, unreadable expression, laughter gone.

"Should I now, Konahamaru, master of light and lighting," she replied curtly, keeping all surprise from her voice. But there still was a slight tone of mockery that rang in it as she said his title. "And exactly how wise do you deem YOUR decision to sneak up on ME?" she smiled, but it was not the same light hearted smile that Tamris had given the other elf earlier. This one was calculating, with some degree of sadism hidden deep within. It was a smile of a black heart. Sorelen's tip raised as she turned the blade between them, its orange fire flaring.

Or, she thought as she scrutinised the individual before her, perhaps there was something she was just not seeing. Light was such a weak element, Tamris had learned this long ago. She loosened her grip on Quicksilver to a casual stance, and the sword, feeling this action, spiraled the silver flames across the white flame like a dance.

"I will excuse your ignorance for now, but i will warn i do not tolerate disrespect. You will speak to me at least as if i was your peer, not an underling. As for my decision to 'sneak up on you', if i had been you would not have noticed me. It is my wish that you see me, for i find you entertaining."

Still unpurturbed at her brandishing of weapons, Kona waited patiently for Tamris to reply. He was never really disturbed by weapons, even those that were used against him. Still, he kept his wits about him should the elf decide to attack.

Skorne was furious when he saw the thief get away with his ring, the ring given to him by Tamuril. Grabbing his gear, he ran towards the door, ignoring the fire that was swiftly spreading. Hopefully the people in the inn would get out safely, but that thought was in the back of his mind right now. As soon as he was out the door into the streets, he donned a cloak of darkness, planning on getting to this thief without them knowing if he could. Still, he didn't care how he caught then, as long as he got his property back. Running swiftly along the streets, he caught sight of the thief, she had been joined by someone that Skorne didn't know, and they seemed to be engaged in a conversation. All that meant was that she wouldn't pay as much attention to the dark shape moving on the streets. As he ran, he prepared more spells to use, this thief would learn the mistake of taking something from him. He would make her pay.

Using the blink spell, he covered a great distance in a short amount of time, only stopping when he was next to the building that they were on top of. Seeing a ladder that went up to the top, he swiftly began climbing it, moving silently in hopes that he could get up there undetected. He knew what he would do if she tried to fly away again, and the result wouldn't be pretty. Peering over the roof's edge, he saw the two of them standing there, but all his attention was fixed on the thief that had taken his ring. He soon tired of waiting, and came over the roof's edge, firing an enervation bolt at the thief the instant his feet touched the rooftop. She would pay for taking his ring, he gaurenteed it.

"I don't like carrots. Especially not when their dipped in cheese," Tamris responded to him in a matter of fact tone, sounding incredibly childlike again. So it was random: her mind was no longer focused on the man in front of her, but rather on the sounds at her back. It almost seemed like she would burst out laughing once more; at the last possible second Tamris spun and let Sorelen meet the blow of magic, retaliatating with a second fireball. So he wanted his ring back. Tamris had never met someone so enthused about getting his possessions back. It amused her greatly, what fun this would all turn out to be.

"So you've come to join this humble, starlit rendezvous? How nice of you, and Tamris thanks you for the ring, but unfortunately more is needed," she said to him, casting him an apologetic look after the magic had settled.

Tamris didn't stop to look at the damage done, though she could feel the edge of her cloak in tatters, and there would probably be some burns to the skin underneath. The half-elf turned and sheathed her blades, secure across her back. Laughing aloud once more, she gave Skorne one last look of penetrating silver, then cast invisibility.

"Not so easy to see now is it?" she called to him as she took off along the roofs, skipping from one to the next and into the night.

Konahomaru looked indifferently at his foot, as it was set ablaze. Casually, he dug it into the ground dousing the fire out, then took it out to examine the damage, and saw that it was minimal. "You owe me a new pair of foot coverings necromancer. If you did not see which way the thief went, it was that way." He said as he looked up at the frustrated Skorne and pointed in the direction the assassin went.

He took a minute, then turned and began walking towards the inn to put out the fire. Despite the fact that there were no attandants inside at the time, Kona felt obligated to douse the fire to save them some time and money.
