Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The wind blew like never before, the sea breeze with that salty sent that kept sailors from living on land. The excitement running through their veins, all except one. A shadow lurked on the edge of the docks idly as eyes bore into the unknowing souls of the sailors. Callings were heard all around as a medium sized ship was being loaded with some supplies. A neigh was heard behind the shadow, making the shadow jump into the light once more.

"No, boy, you cannot come with me.. I'll be fine.. You go roam wild and free, find a nice mare.. Drink the magical waters of the fresh stream and be merry.." A voice said, a calm voice, the voice of Kli. The horse wouldn't budge, he wouldn't leave her side. Kli stood up, petting the nose softly as she watched the gentle creature. "I will be fine.. I will come back and then you can follow me all you want to.. Just not right now.." She said before nudging the horse away. The horse got the message, reluctantly wandering off. Kli's blue grey eyes looked at the ship again. It was huge, and she was lucky to have anything. Her friend was in the sailing business and would let Kli and her companions ride in the ship since they were stopping off a few miles away from Lorian.

That's where they were headed, Lorian, just about the most magical city in the world. The one place where no one would dare go without a lot of experience, or potential, with magic. It is an elegant city, but tough. If you are male, you must keep other magics from killing you and your family. If you are female, you must keep quiet and try to control yourself since you are only a prize of the battle.

Her red and black wavy hair blew into her pale features as she stared again at the sailors. She had a heavy heart, but now tries to hide it. Her feet were with her sturdy brown boots, a bloody, mud caked dress, and a cloak. A bag hung over her shoulder, originally it was a potion case, but now is used to hold what belongings she has. She didn't feel like dressing in her good clothes if they were only to be ruined.

Skorne walked along the docks, his boots making noise with each step he took. He could have walked quieter if he had wnated to, but he wasn't in the mood. Holding his small sack of possessions in one hand, he rested his left hand on the hilt of his scimitar, looking around at the workers. He was surprised that no one had tried to stop him yet, he was certain that some guard would try to act with more power than they had. That was ok though, all it meant was that he wouldn't have to kill several people right before setting off on a see voyage for a friend. Hearing the osund of clopping behind him, he turned in time to see a horse come out of an alley. He watched for a few seconds before realizing that he had seen that horse before. It was Kli's, that must mean she was somewhere around here. He walked down the alley he had seen the horse come out of, grateful to be in the shadows that were so familiar to him.

While still in the shadows, he cast some quick magic, altering his physical appearance so that none would recognize him. He stepped out of the other side of the alley into a beam of light. His new form was of a human, tall and muscular. He had bright blue eyes and blond hair, but it was clear that he was a warrios, a person that you wouldn't want to fight with. His jaw was set, and his nose was crooked, stating clearly that it had been broken in some time past. He wore simple, clothes, and no armor that could be seen, he also made no attempt to hide the sword at his belt, the hilt easily able to be seen. Looking around, he spotted Kli standing by one of the boats. While he was walking towards her, he examined the boat. He didn't know very much, but he trusted that Kli wouldn't take them on this errand with a terrible vessel to take them their and back. Walking up to Kli, he spoke to her softly, masking the sound of his voice so that she might not recognize him. "Hello, what brings a fair maiden such as yourself out to the dock of Taras?"

Kli heard steps comming towards her, putting her sword loosely on her hilt just incase. She heard the voice, seemingly forced as if the man was to disguise his voice. Her eyes turned the the man and she studied his face for a few breif moments. She held herself back from saying anything other than answering the question, realizing it wasn't too wise to start a fight so soon before a quest. "I'm afraid that it is none of your business what I am doing here in the Taras docks.. I'm sorry if I seem rude, but I don't spill my guts out to every stranger that walks up to me and says I'm a "fair maiden"... I suggest you keep focused on your own business, sir." She said quietly, taking her hand from the hilt of her sword as her eyes wandered from the man's face.

She took a peice of cloth from a pocket and used it to tie back her hair, trying to keep it from blowing into her face. She wondered when the others would get to the docks. Right now she was begining to doubt her plan. What would her friends be able to do in Lorian? What help would they ultimately be? She knew she would have to do most of it alone, so why go through the trouble of dragging her friends into it? I don't want to jepordize anyone's life when it is my problem. The wizards could easily take my friends lives, and my powers grow stronger. Wouldn't it be better to go and face my fears alone? She thought.

Skorne was hard pressed to keep from bursting out into laughter, Kli never seemed to change. Still, he supposed that he did deserve that remark, since he did look like a complete stranger. A smile on his face, he spoke again, reveiling who he was. "Kli, that just hurt, right here." Holding a hand to his chest, he let the spell fade, and he revealed who he really was. The only thing that didn't change was that he was still smiling, amused at the way Kli had acted. "You didn't think I would abondon you did you?" Without even waiting for her to answer, Skorne wanted to satisfy his own curiousity. "so, do you think this boat can take us to Lorian and back safely? I would hate to drown on the way there." Skorne turned to look at the boat, watching some crew members as they loaded the store of food and water that would be needed for the long voyage. That would be th eworst fate possible, if they ran out of food or water. Starving to death was among the worst ways to die, but still, Skorne doubted that would happen. The entire voyage had been planned, and he hoped that they had calculated how much food would be required. Still, accidents happened, and if they ship was damaged in a storm, they might lose part of their food.

Turning back to Kli, he spoke once more, wanting to say what he had to quickly. "Forgive me for my little trick, but I couldn't resist, and it was extremely amusing. You need to learn to lighten up, although I can understand how you might react to a complete stranger asking your business." Skorne continued to smile, in a fine mood today at the prospect of an adventure. He needed to travel some, explore new places, fight wonderful battles. This voyage promised to test both his skill with a blade and in magic, a challange that he looked forward to.

"And sometimes it is the stranger who must react when asking a woman of her business," came a serious tone from behind Skorne.

A few of the local merchants and peasants had made effort to get away from Jarreth as he stood at the corner of a run down shack made of salt-weathered wooden planks. He stood in his full armor, a forboding figure, especially with his heavy crossbow pointed at Skorne's back. He had a grim expression on his face, but that was masked by his full helmet. He had not known if his host knew of his presence, but he had remained faithful and watchful of her since Lord Sargoth placed him in her service. His flowing, golden cloak trailed down his back, slowly waving in the sea breeze. Over his shoulder was a heavy sack of supplies for the journey, mainly food and water. His shield was latched on his side to the hitch on his plate mail. With his presence now known and the intentions of Skorne less cryptic, he returned his crossbow over his shoulder to hang from the leather strap. He took two steps forward while continuing to speak.

"I apologize for the scare, my lady Kli. You were in no danger, just as you have been in no danger since our meeting."

The paladin gave a slight bow to Kli before looking past toward the boat that would be their home for a long voyage. He had limited ocean experience, usually using frozen landways instead of open water. To save himself the worry and trouble, he assumed the ship was more than seaworthy. It would have to be for a mission of such great importance. As far as the destination, it was still a mystery. He had heard nothing since his arrival for there was nothing to be said. In his mind, he needed to know little if anything about the plans, but he was a little uncomfortable defending the woman against dangers unknown to him. He had never left the main landmass; he had barely known of cities off of the coast. Returning to the proper state of mind, he stared at Kli and asked a question of her.

"What would you have me do, m'lady?"

Kli's eyes widened with a slight shock. She frowned slightly, staring at him before shaking her head and looking at her feet with an amusing laugh. "You never cease to surprise me my friend.." She said, getting to her feet as her eyes went back to Skorne. "The vessel is perfectly safe.. If I didn't have a way of safe transportation, I would've just flown by myself.." She said, feeling the question was a bit silly. "I know I must lighten up.. But I cannot seem to get the thoughts from my mind that this may be my doom.. I am going back to the home which has hated me for my state of mind.. I don't think you understand what it's like to have to go somewhere from which you fleed. It's not just about my business, but the likelihood that I will never return whether dead or alive.." She said, with each word getting a little softer until it was almost a whisper.

She stared at the ship for a few moments before turning to a familiar voice. It was Jarreth. She tilted her head, showing slight confusion. "You have been following me?" She said quietly. "I know that Sargoth asked for you to help, but you don't need to protect me all the time.." She said, looking at the sun's position quietly. "I know you must wonder what dangers lay ahead, Jarreth, so I shall tell you.." She said quietly. "Come this way." She said quietly, turning and walking toward the ship. "You may, of course, join, Skorne.." She said. She walked up the ramp and on to the boat. She gave a nod to a few sailors on her way before walking to an office on deck. Kli walked into the room, quite familiar to her because of another previous adventure. She waited patiently for them to follow her.

It was diffcult trying to fool his own mother when she paid so much attention to nearly every possible detail, but Ace had managed to convince himself that he had done so. He did tell her he had a trip to Lorian. While she did know of the importance of that city to Kli, it did seem possible that Ace would be sent there for a while on unrelated terms. Reis seemed to buy Ace's tall tale. If she saw through it she neither did nor said anything to make Ace think she did. Ace did not need to pack anything. Anything not provided for on the ship could be easily handled and he knew the trip would not be a long one.

Ace had meant to leave earlier, but he got held up by an annoying mage how wished to talk to him. The conversation was more lke a monologue and the pesky mage keep prventing Ace from getting away and said it would only take a second. Ace never knew a second could be stretched out for an hour, and he still wasn't done then. Ace had finally gotten it in the man's thick head that Ace had buissness to attend to and it did not involve the mage.

Once Ace got outside he spread his emerald wings and took off into the air. The wind would provide for good sailing without the use of magic.

It was not too long a flight to Taras, but long enough to have his wings slightly tired. Ace began to lose altitude as he approached the port. He was about to land on the dock and search for Kli there, but decided to land on the nearest boat when he saw Kli walking onto it. "I hope you weren't intending to leave without me," Ace smiled as he landed slowly upon the deck. He wondered if everyone he had seen at the academy would be here as well, but doubted that all of them would be coming. He knew all of them save Jarreth and he didn't like Skorne too much, but Ace would not mind if those two were the only ones to show up.

Skorne had been surprised indeed when Jarreth ahd shown up, he hadn't seen him when he had arrived on the dock. Still, he hadn't been looking for him, he had been looking for Kli. Reflecting on it, he was lucky he hadn't been shot in the back of the head. All the magic he possessed wouldn't have stopped a crossbow bolt from hitting him from behind. Turning to face him, he smiled a bit, though it wasn't as amused as it had been when he had smiled at Kli. "Well met Jarreth, seems I need to pay more attention to what is around me. I would hate to get shot by accident." Skorne was still a bit curious as to why Sargoth had chosen this paladin to take his place on the journey, but he supposed that like most gods, he had some alterior motive than what others could see. He never really had gotten along with the gods until recently, it was more like they tolerated him because he didn't really threaten them openly. At least, he hadn't until that whole problem with Sargoth where he had ended up in the Abyss, but that was a while ago.

Nodding after Kli spoke, he followed her up the ramp onto the boat, wondering what it was she had to say. He was still only halfway across the ramp when he saw another figure he knew appear. It was Ace, a mage that he had met a few times, though none of the meetings had been very long. "Hello Ace, good to see you again. I suppose it is thanks to you that I am even going on this trip." He wasn't really sure why he was bringing up the subject, but he wanted to talk about something, and this seemed like a good way to break the ice. "I hope that it's more than just the four of us going on this trip, from what has been told, we will need as much help as we can get."

"We wouldn't leave without you, Master Ace.. What would we do without an experienced Arch Mage on our side?" She smiled, kind of kidding since they both know she was also one. "I was just about to take the group in and breif Jarreth on our mission.." She said. Her eyes wandered slightly, mind pausing for a break. She looked to Skorne. "Don't worry.. I do not think Jarreth would hurt you anytime soon.." She said quietly, joking again. It was a bit of comic relief I guess you could say, finding comfort from nothing at all. She snapped out of it. "So, comming with?" She asked. "You could always just walk around of course until we get moving.." She said quietly.

(Sorry it's so short.. It's hard to do anything without Jarreth replying.. <_< )
