| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

From the hundreds of towns traveled, even more woods had been wandered. And a grown fascination with the critters living in each of this majestic landscapes had developed full form, and was now the motive for this hopefully short, and perilous trek. An unusual amount of curiosity had drawn her to these particular woods, for rumors circulated about not just bird or fish eating spiders, but man-eating ones. Snatching even the mightiest of warriors right off their feet. Already waist deep in the woods, the webs thicked, the dark trees loomed above, and the twitching bushes full of 'something' began to invoke fear upon the one who traveled their roads. Without a familiar blade in hand, times were difficult, but perhaps an even more efficiant weapon she carried with her. The masterwork chakram she had saved for and purchased from the blacksmith, the beginning of her collection of weapons, the famous eclectic set of weapons familiar only to the assassin who carries them. And this chakram was the beginning of this set. Her eyes set on a blade, but it would be a while until she acquired the proper funding to purchase a useful tool. Months, perhaps even years it would take, although the search for these spidery creatures helped gain confidence in her ability to fight. And it wasn't some little poisonous black widow she sought now, no but the mother of all creations, whatever giant, hungry, drooling creature settled out here, pulling the famous legendary victims off their feet and into the waiting jaws of their captors... Something in mind told her she would not be a victim to this; however, there was a slight nervousness to her step, as she listened intently to her surroundings, hearing several cracks suddenly that sounded a lot larger than the subtle leaf crunching she encountered for most of this journey. Her fingers caressing the chakram hanging by her side, eyes glaring in all directions rapidly, much like a nervous theif before the hit... Something else was in the woods... and it was no spider. |

Lost, lost; lost. Zeria was lost. Well, Zeria was always lost, but thats beside the point. Her thoughts ever scattered, she never payed much attention to where she was going. That brought her here, to this unsafe place. Zeria only had an old scimatar to ward off the occasional spider that crossed her way. And more than once, she'd nearly gotten herself tangled in one of the webs. If there was anything in this world that Zeria didn't want, it was to be eaten by a spider. She shuddred at imagining that. Though part of her knew that somewhere, her tormentor would've been laughing at her misfortune. Even if her tormentor wasn't here, in this place, he had some way of always knowing where Zeria was. He just never showed himself. However, thats another matter entirely. What's important now, is that Zeria keep her wits about her. It probably would've been a good idea for her to tread more softly, her gait was slow; steady, as if she weren't walkign in a place such as this. Zeria walked like she was just strolling through a town or city street. not that she visited such populated areas much anyways. She winced as her foot caught on something on the ground, and cursed silently. Slowly taking a step back to dislodge her ankel from the tangle of brush she'd stepped into, she tripped and fell on her back. SHe flinched at the loud crack her body made in the brsuh. If nothing was alerted to her presense before, it sure as hell knew she was here now. |

Her eyes shut just before she heard the crack, and having little time to prepare for such a loud noise. It startled her, and the chakram was ripped from her side and held almost in a frisbee throwing position, ready to launch it, to scare out whatever fiend lay within the bushes. Killing it here wasn't the objective, especially since whatever it was, it seemed to be unaware of her pressence, and what kind of fight was that? A blind and easy one, and that was not the intent of this mission by any means. With a silent step forward, she peered threw the bushes to the best of her keen eyes ability, seeing whatever it was, it was near the ground, and quite large. Knowing this she let the chakram rip from her fingers, its spinning form gliding noisily threw the air and imbedding itself into the tree behind the being. Her hands went for the rustic iron two handed sword on her back, drawing it as the main weapon that could potentially do the most damage the quickest. Spiders were known for their speed and agility, and the bigger they came... she figured... the stronger they were. She kept silent, hoping the creature would startled and flee the bushes, her brow sweating slightly from the heated daylight peering down between the darkened trees. Her hand quivered and she thought about saying something, but the indication of a jagged weapon imbedding itself just above your head, should have been clue enough to either flee, or charge into battle. Her eyes narrowing in anticipation, ready for anything to come out of those greens... |

Zeria was just about to stand up, when she heard and felt something whip past her head. Mercury eyes quickly glanced behind her to see what had flown past at such blinding speed. She didn't know what it was; some sort of weapon appearantly. Zeria quickly drew her scimatar, and moved into a partly crouched position. Wh- ... who's out there?" She called out, though her voice was soft and so she might not have been heard clearly. Zeria didn't move from her position though; her silver eyes quickly glance bac kand forth along the area just before her. She didn't charge forward, since she couldn't see who or wat was out there, and she didn't flee. Because Zeria never runs from anything. "D-don't attack me." She muttered, still quite uncertain as to what she should do at the moment. If she turend back, she'd have to face spiders, if she moved forward. ... there was no tellign what she may encounter. But Zeria's life was always filled with uncertainty. |

The expected onslaught never came. And her stance relaxed greatly when she heard a familiar sound; a human voice. It was no wonder that there was someone else out in these woods. They were prime ground for those who got lost easily. The familiar site of a forest seemed an excellent idea for travelers not wanting to get robbed on the road. Theieves took advantage of any who traveled by the way that was meant to be traveled; therefore, all those knowing of this found other routes, and this one didn't seem so bad from the beginning. The tense feeling of her heart beating its way out of her chest stopped. And with a great deal of effort she wedged the massive blade into the ground, even with its gigantic size it still managed to stand upright in the hard soil. Taking a risk not many assassin's would take, she moved forward unarmed. Her chakram in site, imbedded in the tree just behind where the voice had come from, so obviously female. The words 'don't attack me' having been uttered, gave Scarlet the sign that this girl, woman, or even still possible, creature was of no threat. She moved forward towards the bushes, thinking of what to say the whole 10 paces, but stating before she reached the girl. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you." The words "I'm unarmed" almost escaped her lips, however they remained unsaid due to the fact she didn't want this human like creature to know she was in such a state, for the occasion may then arrise she would need arms... and lack them. Reaching behind the bushes, she parted the dark green leaves, placed one hand on her hip and lazily slumped on one foot. "Are you going to get up, or keep begging... do you have any idea where you are?" She said with a small hint of a smile. Running around in the deeper portions of the Spider Haunt woods was not the brightest of moves, she Scarlet immediately assumed the girl had absolutely no idea where she was. |

Zeria waited, and no further atack came. Then, she heard the footsteps approaching. Zeria slowly rose from her position, when the other woman appeared within view. "I wasn't begging." Zeria didn't trust the other, even if she did appear unarmed. Then again, Zeria doesn't trust anyone. Even so, she sheathed Althaol, her scimitar. "And no ... I ... I don't know where I am." She forced herself to admit, her gaze shifted to the ground. Zeria never looked at people when she talked to them. The unusual nature of her eyes tends to scare some people off. |

Scarlet grinned, an impish smile showing her reluctance to concede to the others statement. Her tongue quicker than her mind apparently, and there wasn't a thing in the world that could change that. Her heart settled into the back of her chest, and she strolled casually towards the tree behind where the girl had emerged, putting one hand against the rickety trunk to steady herself, and used her other hand to pull free the lodged weapon. Tying it in the same place it had been before, she looked back towards the girl with mild interest. "So if begging isn't begging, then you being lost must mean you know perfectly where you are! Then could you mind pointing me in the right direction, seeing how logically, on the conclusion its opposite day, you know your way around here pretty well." Accompanied by that derogatory statement came a smirk. Her eyes flared when she looked back at the girl, on edge still from expecting a fight. Making her way back over to the clearing, she shook her head and waved a hand, as if dismissing something. "Don't take that personally." She said, allowing the other to realize she was dismissing her own comment. And holding out a glove clad hand, dirt ingrained in the palm of the old beaten bird handles glove. It road up her arm to almost her elbow joint, covering several tattoos in the process. "Scarlet, Scarlet Valentine. People generally call me whore, or cool person though." She said with a mock grin, eyes wandering the other girls. "If your really lost, you can tag along until I find what I'm looking for, or we hit the barrier of the woods, one way or another your treading in dangerous territory. I'd take precaution to have a weapon on hand." That having been said, she hoisted the large sword back over her head and into the sheathe on her back, moving forward towards the brush, a faint trail having been made, she picked up on and decided to follow. Stopping for a moment to let the girl decide, she didn't turn around to say it, but rather marked the tree just incase she got lost later. "Its your choice where you go, I'm not stopping you either way. The way I came was clear about an hour ago, but I can't state the same for it now though..." A hint of a smile for her ears moved back slightly, hardly noticable, but like it was said, just a hint. |

Zeria did not give off a smile or grin if her own. Such an action was something Zeria had forgotten a long time ago. If there was any emotion upon her face at all, it was apathy. She did't even flinch at the sarcasim. And just crossed her arms in front of her and simply restated. I don't beg of anything from anyone." Silver eyes glanced upwards at the comment of not taking it personally. "I'm looking for someone." Zeria didn't mention that cetain someone was her familiar; a large wolf. After a moment, her hands dropped to her sides and on rested on her scimatar's hilt. It wasn't a threatening sign. It was just a habit of her's. Zeria, McKenzie." She didn't offer her own hand. Zeria's not much for human contact. Instead she looked away, distracted. It wasn't something the other could've heard though, not unless they were telepathic. Zeria gave a mental shiver at the same old voice that invaded her thoughts from time to time. |

Most would have scoffed at the rude action; however, this was Scarlet here. one who found the negative qualities in other people the most amusing. Or... such was the air she let off. In truth, her appearance morphed almost to the degree of a changling, stealthy in the ability to not only change her appearance, but her personality, her history, her life. Almost everything about her was expendable, thoughts, feelings, emotions. All to give off the confusing quality that made herself seem like an entirely different person. Her mind was sharp, but sometimes not sharp enough to remember everyone she came in contact with. Almost like a game she had a different person for everyone she met, and it sometimes played tricks on her when she rencountered the same one, and could not recall the persona she used the time before. A danger that was no present now, but a somewhat rawly boiled resentment hid underneath that skin. Tipped ears twitching only slightly, it was in truth she who had cast the first stone unto the others forehead. However, it was now her who was being pelted with the quiet disregard for humility. "Not a talker then. Zeria Mckenzie. Call you Mc? You can be looking for someone all you want, but it doesn't change the fact, I'm going this way, and I still don't know which way you're going. Don't tell me if your not up to it. But instinct says you wouldn't still be here if you had any idea just where this person was. And if you think about it. If you came from a different direction than me, between the two of us we've already covered a good third of these woods, and unless I'm even more blind than I previously thought, I didn't see a soul until you showed up." Turning and resting a hand on her hip, she slumped all her weight on the foot opposing that hand. The chakram snagging idly on the elbow length black sleeve of her cotton shirt. "Again. I'm going North, follow if you like." And that was all that needed to be said, or at least thats what Scarlet deemed reasonable for the time being. And moving through the bush and past the cut tree, she made her way down the thorn ridden trail, toward more adventures with strange noises in the bush, and perhaps even the ultimate goal for the journey, finding, and recognizing the fiendish widow who had a distinct fancy, for snatching travelers... |

"I don't care what you call me." Gaze shifted back to the other. The distraction was not fully forgotten however. Zeria either didn't notice, or didn't care whatever the other's reaction was. Zeria never cared what people thought of her. A flicker of something, confience maybe (though not in herself), sparked Zeria's eyes and quickly vanished. It was at the comment of the 'person' she was looking for. No ... you couldn't have seen who I'm looking for. Xandarick is good at keeping his presence unknown." Zeria commented, more to herself. Eyes of silver glanced to the clearing in front, and to her previous path just behind her. "North ..." Zeria hadn't been North as of yet. She'd arrived from the South. Or so she thought. Zeria wasn't much good with directions. She watched Scarlet dissappear into the foliage. Zeria stood alone in thougt for a moment. After much arguing with herself, she followed the path made. It didn't take long for her to be just a few feet behind Scarlet. And she muttered a quick. "I'm not following you. I just have to go North anyways." |

It was a half felt expectation for her to follow, sensing the relucatance to concede to the need of aid. Or so she let the other think. In the pressence of strangers her persona shifted, and so it was done yet again. Using the first of her three typical personalities to observe the other, caution was always important, especially when you had a bounty on your head. As she heard footsteps behind her, she didn't let herself get to cocky, but when those words were uttered she snickered a little. It seemed just a little to perfect an excuse, but she made nothing of it. And kicking aside a small snake on the path, she stepped over a fallen tree, taking the chance to look back at the woman following the same trail. And embracing the opportunity for conversation, she spoke. "So those eyes..." She muttered, letting what she had said settle in before continuing. "How does one come about getting eyes like those? Extrodinary..." Giving a slight grin in the direction of Zeira she turned around again, putting her back to the woman and her face away from potential danger. She figured some anger may broil from this, but truth be told appearances meant nothing to her, being of what decent she was, looks changed often... actually, as often as she wanted them too. And fingering the hilt of the blade on her back, she removed the hand and pointing down behind her, a signal to the one following her. "Watch your step, its got mites." |

Zeria knew nothing of whatever bounty the other might have had on her. And she didn't much care a boutsuch things. Zeria's own personality was always the same. Somewhat standoff-ish, unsocial, and definetaly not a conversationalist. The way she acted towards others, was reason enough for why she was generaly alone. No one really liked her. But Zeria didn't care about that. Because, the less people you get close to, then the less people you have to lose. She contiuned walking; lost in thought. But was brought back to present at the question asked of her. "They're not something one can just get." Zeria didn't think they were so extrodinary. more often than not people shunned her because of them. People always thought odd eye-colors suspectious. If someone's eyes weren't 'normal' in color, then that mean something was wrong with the person. As soon as people saw Zeria's eyes their opinion of her changed and she'd be cast away like she was nothing. "My eyes have always been this way." The truth was, Zeria didn't really know what she was. Barely even knew who, she was. But that was beside the point. Zeria was careful in her steps, even before Scarlet had warned her to be. |
