Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Typical tavern atmosphere tonight. The stale scent of old smoke, liquor; and sweat is like a fog within the place. But so far, its rather calm in here (well, as calm as it can get in a tavern). At a table in one of those dark corners of the place, a trio of gamblers play cards. Pheonix was one of them, her chair leaned back on two legs, the back of it against the wall; her feet resting on the edged of the table. She tosses her money to the pot, raising the bet double what it's worth. She's got a good hand, and can sense that at least on of her 'opponents' is only bluffing. Pheonix is pretty sure of victory, her ears twitch in boredom; waiting for the other two to make a bet. The cards are down; money is lost, and none of it was Pheonix's. She knew she was winning. She gave a small grin in victory, revealing wolfish fang before swiping the money from the table.

"Cheater! No one's that lucky."

Her ears flick at the sound of steel being drawn from leather scabbard. Pheonix pushed away from the table, quickly shoving the money to her pocket and drawing her staff to block the sword aimed at her head. The man who'd previously sat across from her wasn't happy at losing his 'well-earned' money. Pheonix jumped back, fangs beared in self defense; tail lashing back and forth in agitation. She spun her staff with one hand, showing she knew full well how to use it.

"What kind of freak are you?"

It took Pheonix a moment to figure out what the man was talking about. Then she realized that in snatching her staff from her back, she;d removed her jacket. Revealing the inhuman aspects of her form. Feathered wings and a wolf's tail aren't very common attributes of a woman.

Far off on the opposite side of all the commotion that had just happened, sat Namilek. He was sitting at a small table, staring into space and thinking about the adventure ahead.
The sudden clash of weapons and the yelling disturbed his train of thoughts. Feeling annoyed, he looks up and sees that in the opposite corner of the tavern. Namilek saw the cards flying off the table and two men and a monstrous form that looked half human half beast to him. The two men were obviously intimadated by the creature.
Namilek did not panic, for he has seen many things way stranger than this one. "Hmm, this might be interesting." Namilek thought to himself, "I think i'll just sit here and watch what happens."

"Even if I told you the answer, your feeble mind wouldn't be able to comprehend it."

Wings folding tightly against her back, to prevent any damage done to them, Pheonix spun her staff with one hand, waiting to see if the man would realy attack. He seemed afraid of her, yet his anger was overwhelming at the fact that he, of all people, lost. PHeonix couldn't help but smile to herself at this. Humans were so ... predictable.

"Well .. you just gonna stand there looking stupid ... or what?"

Pheonix actually wanted him to rush forward, and try to fight. Her life had been rather uneventful lately, and she could use soem brushing up on her skills.

She tapped her foot inpatiently, it seemed like her guard was lowered. ... It wasn't.

Namilek heard the creature said something, but could not comprehend it because he was far away. Without thinking, he stood up, walked towards the commotion and a normal pace, then sat down again, but now at a bigger table and closer to the commotion, with a good view at what was going on.
Now looking at the table, the "creature" that he thought was attacking the two men at the table actually looked sort of like a human, though not completely human. She had the human look, but also the wings of an angel, and many traits of a wolf. "Man, what the hell is that thing?" Namilek thought to himself, also laughing a little bit inside his head because of what he thought.
Seeing from his view now, obviously the three has been gambling, and the thick tension in the air probably has something to do with losing, Namilek thought.
After a while, nothing happened, and the humanish creature lowered her guard. A little bit disappointed, Namilek yelled out at the human: "Come on you wuss! Why don't you do something?"

Pheonix noticed how someone was edging closer to the fight, to geta better look. Pheonix laughed to herself. If it was a show these people wanted, she'd be glad to give it. She yawned, ears twitching boredly. But she couldn't help but laugh at loud when someone yelled at the man before her to 'do something'.

"Hear that? ... They think you're a wuss. You gonna prove 'em wrong, or should I just leave now with the money that used to be yours?"

Appearntly tryng to look fearsome, the man ran towards Pheonix, sword drawn. Eyes of red and gold stared at him a moment, and when he finally came into a dagerous distance from her, Pheonix only sidestepped him and in passing she'd hit him over the head with her staff. The gambler went flying, headlong into a table. Men stood, cursing over there spilt drinks, and immidiately set there newfound anger to pummeling the man as he lay amongst shards of wood; in a daze.

"Looks like your luck just went from bad to worst."

Namilek sat there as Phoenix futher mocked the angry gambler. When she sidestepped during man charging, Namilek laughed to himself a little bit. But when he fell into the table, he could not hold it longer so he just bursted out laughing really loud.
When the angered men started pummeling at the gambler, Namilek began to feel a little bit sorry for him. "Well the one on one battle would've been fun, but now it's just kinda unfair." Namilek thought to himself.
Deciding to do what is right, Namilek stood up from the table and walked towards the broken table. "Hey! Guys! Come on, give the man a chance to fight back, shall we?" said Namilek, "I don't think this severe beating is really fair."

Her ears twitched at the sound of approaching footsteps, and Pheonix directed her gaze to it. She watched the man, seemingly trying to help the most unfortunate gambler, and couldn't help but laugh softly to herself. Her first time ever visiting this town, and already she'd started trouble. Not that she enjoyed watching others suffer, but the way she figured it, that man had only himself to blame. After deciding the poor guy had had enough, she walked towards the broken table and began pushing people away. The men who were formerly pummeling the gambler, now turned their attentions to Pheonix. Appearently decided that all this was really Pheonix's fault, the four of them turned their aggressions on her now. "Ah ... this is great."

Pheonix ducked one man's blow, and with her staff she tripped him; sending him to the floor. After jumping over him, and using her wings to gain a bit of lift, Pheonix spun her staff with one hand and knocked another 'attacker' against a wall. By now, it was obvious that Pheonix wasn't some pushover like they'd all first thought. One man ran past her and out the door, and the fourth just stared at her dumbly. Pheonix wasn't quite sure what to do now, so she put her staff away and crossed her arms in front of her. "Are we quite finished here?"
