Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It was dark in the woods, darker than normal for the moon was low and the sun clear from the night sky. The cold brisk air would ocassionally break through the dense tree and reach Shynthriir's body. He was cold, he was very cold. He onyl had on a pair of loose pants, a shirt which was tucked into the pands, and then a cloak which was more of a cape, though it did have a hood. His hood was pulled over his head, trying to keep as much warmth to himself as he could. It did little to help him, but it was all he could do to keep him from feezing.

He walked in no particular direction for he didn't know which way was the way to get to a warmer place. He then heard something and saw some movements in the distance. Wh-who's there he shouted, though his voice was not as loud as he wanted for the cold made him shiver and thus not able to talk too well. There was someone out there, where they the source behind this unnatural cold? How come they seemed to be uneffective? Where they out to get him?

Meera walked through the darkened wood. She had had no choice but to have taken this shortcut. If she hadn't she never would have been able to reach Enzo and she surely would have died from the cold. But soon upon entering the woods, she tried calling him again and he came. Meera lay against his warm body, but he too was cold from the prevailing winds. But his body was warm nevertheless. She lay atop him letting him walk and not able to hear anything with the loud noise of Enzo's hooves hitting the ground and the winds whistling in her ear. It then began to come to her that this type of cold was not normal and yet it had been going on for quite some time, she began thinking about it until Enzo just plainly stopped and snorted. Meera looked to the side of his neck and saw a man. He looked farmilliar but she could not quite place it. She just lay on Enzo's back looking at the man.

Shynthriir's body seemed only to colect the cold, obsorb is and multiply how cold it truely was. It was very cold. Shynthriir's lip were chaning color and the rest of his body was soon turning a slight blueish color as well. He turned around slowly for his movements were begining to slow. There was a wamon there, on a horse. Or was she only a figure of his imagination? Cold... was all he said before his body was too cold to go on. He feel to forest floor, his body ever shaking, but too cold to move when Shynthriir tried to get it to move.

Meera gasped as the man fell, she may not know this man but she could never just let anyone lay there slowly doomed to their death. Meera urged Enzo to the man silently thanking god for her multitalented fire horse. She slid off of Enzo and motioned for him to lay down beside the man. As Enzo did so, Meera recognized the man's face. It was the man that she had met when he had found that mysterious stone. She wanted to ask him if his search had come up fruitful but she would have to wait for this was not the time.

Meera lay on top of Enzo sharing her little warmth with him and having him give her his plentiful warmth, and hoped that this would also help Shynthriir warm up as well. She watched his face hoping to see the pinkish color come back to his lips instead of the deadly and frosty blue color that he had on now. She also hoped that he didn't get frostbite because she had heard of how painful it was and how people had to get rid of it.

Shynthriir was looking through the fabled tunnel that many claim to see in their tales of near death experiences and knew that this was the end, the end of all his hopes, dreams and desires. There was to be nore more. So he thought at least. Fate might saw one thing, but companions see things in a different light. Meera, the elf who had helpped him when he had found a mystereous stone long ago, have interveened in fate in the grandest of ways.

Shynthriir's natural color was slowly returning and after some minutes, his eyes opened up to show the weak drow behind them. He was sick, tired, and his fingers seemed as if frozebiten, though they surely were with these temperatures. He tried to speak, but only a rasp sound came forth as his mouth was dry and he was weak. He was thankfull, that was for sure, he felt the warmth of something nearby and didn't know what it was, but whatever it could be, he was surely thankfull.

Meera smiled thankfully as Shynthriir's eyes opened. As he tried to speak Meera put a finger to her lips and said "shhhh... don't talk. I'll get you some water." she scooped up some snow and only had to wait a few seconds over Enzo before it had melted. She put it in a small mug that she had taken from a bar for times like this and handed it to Shynthriir. She grabbed his arm and helped to pull him up so his back was leaning against Enzo. Enzo, sensing the desperateness of the situation, flicked his long tail over so it was laying over Shynthriir's hands. He knew the drill.Meera had used Enzo many times in the cold. She had in fact used him once before when her friend Selena had frostbite. He had been a great help there as well.

Meera looked around for any of her other farmilliars that could catch something to eat but seeing that they had all found somewhere warm to stay, she had to use her spell to find them. She only called Akira because she did not need both Akira and Marqee. When Akira came trotting over, Meera sent her out to hunt. Soon after, Akira trotted back with a rabbit in her mouth. Meera patted her on the head and gave her a fat piece of the leg. She then proceeded to skin the rabbit so that Shynthriir could eat it. She hoped that he would be able to eat it raw because there was no hope of starting a fire with this wind and snow in the way.

"Well, it's to bad I didn't get that before you did," a voice from the dark trees surruonding the two people and creatures, "But in a way it's better, since I can eat much more then I bargined for." As the voice said this a woman walked out of the trees, but she had an unnatrual cold aura around her and her skin was black with dark blue and green, her hair was cut at the earlobes and was pure black.

"Hello, my name is Munwithurix the one who rules this swamp, and who might you be?" she asked the woman on the ground. Munwithurix's face gave a grin but it wasn't right, her teeth were sharp and her face made it look like she was going to eat everything that was sitting in front of her.

"It doens't look like his doing to well," she smiled again, "but that is not a problem, it's just harder eating something frozen. You know, it is warmer towards that way," she pointed south, "That is where the swamp is and the swamp is very this time of year." Munwithurix walked a little closer that same grin on her face.

The warmth felt really good, almost stung a little bit though. The sudden change from cold to hot always seemed to sting slighty, but it was far more tolerable than the bite of the cold air. The feeling was returning to his hands, his feet were still cold, but he slowly managed to pull them closer to the animal, for de decided it to be an animal, perhaps a horse, that he was leaning against which made them feel a little better.

The offered water wasn't too great, the filiments of the ground were mixed in with it all, though it was good for him to drink it he knew. Another way for his energy to return and thus keep him alive. Meera was cutting something up, though he couldn't see a good view of whatever it was. He also heard another voice too. A stranger, to him at least. He oculdn't hear too much of what she said, his head was still spinning slighty and things seemed to make only little sense to him.

Meera looked up as the woman came into the area. She was surprised at first but her eyebrows then changed to anger as she realized what the woman wanted to do. Meera took out her sword and stood up. She said "I will not harm you if you let us go peacefully. We will leave your lands without another word said. But if you decide instead to eat us, I will have no choice. And you cannot say that I didn't give you a choice." She pulled Shynthriir onto Enzo and had Enzo stand up just in case they had to leave quickly. She knew that she could always get onto Enzo if she needed to but she didn't know if the woman could fly or not. Usually, she wouldn't wonder wether a person could fly or not but when she saw the appearence of the woman, it made her believe that anything could be possible with her.

"Are you saying that you will kill me?" Munwithurix said with a laugh, "I do not think you will be able too, for I am the ruler of the swamps, everything here fears me nothing will fight back and you should not either!" she yelled, her voice had an odd growl to it, "I will not give up food that comes into the swamp." her eyes burned with anger as she stepped closer.

Her body gave a jolt and then something started to grow out of her shoulder blades and her face got long, her fingers turned into three large claws, horns came out of her face and she started to grow a tail, in seconds a dragon stood where the woman had been, the deep eyes gave off an ill-humored look as she filled up her acid glane. Munwithurix gave a growl and showed her teeth, "If you run I will chase you, if you fight I will pravail."

Shynthriir was feeling a lot better and was thinking that he would be able to speed up this healing process with his own magic, though he only hoped he had enough energy for the spell. He closed his eyes and gathered the mental enrgey and allowed tingles of healing to flow though his body. It was a slow process and it would be a few minutes for him to fully heal, but he was able enough to stand and hear.

He heard all right, He heard the threat that had come to kill both him and Meera. He leaned on the horse behind him and allowed it to help him get on his feet. He took in a breath, feeling his energy slowly return and the sting of the cold was becoming less intense on his fingers and toes. It did not make him look good though, he was still a miserable sight and what came from his mouth must have seemed quite rediculous. She might not be able to kill you, he took in a breath to steady himself, But I can.

Meera did not expect Shynthriir to get well this fast but she was sure as fire grateful. She watched as the woman changed into the dragon and a large feeling of dread settled over her. That did not let her lose hope though. Meera said "I'll give you one more chance." and started backing up towards Enzo. She looked to Shynthriir to see what he would do was ready to back him up at any time if he needed it. For the time being, she had a plan ready in her mind and awaited the right time to put her small plan into action. She only hoped that the dragon would figure it out ahead of time because it was a little slow moving. Meera looked carefully for her moment.

Shynthriir was not a dumb man, he knew he still did not have the energy he would need to fight this beast, but there is more to wining a battle then delivering the killing blow. He would be able to cast spells to help Meera defeat this monster and he knew just the spell.

It was not noticable when he casted spells, which made this all the more sweet. He just stood there, still weak physically, but mentally he could do this. He was going to cast the haste spell, though not on himself, but on Meera. His magic was powerful, more powerful than most peoples and this spell was no exception. Once cast, this more powerful haste spell would make people move so quickly, they would be a blur in the air. He cast the spell and Meera's body gave a slight glow for a split second, and then went back to normal. The spell was cast and all she needed to do was figure out that she was much, much quicker now than every before in her life.

Meera took a step forwards, weilding her sword and it took her shorter than she though to arrive there. Even though it was just one step, it was a large one and Meera was surprised. She took two steps backwards then looked towards Shynthriir with a questioning look. She then realized what he had done and revised her plan. She ran to the dragon and slashed at her right haunch, then ran to her left side and slashed at that haunch. Then running with lightning fast speed, she continued slashing, hoping the dragon wouldn't be able to catch her.

Meera got the idea, that was a good thing. She used it well to, his trained eyes could keep up with him, though he moved at a swifter pace naturally and his eyes were attuned to sense sudden motions very quickly, many people were not as skilled, though he had worked many years to learn these talents. He only wiched that he would be ready to join the fight if things turned to the worst.

He collapsed down, not because he was weak, but because he knew that he needed to get down and rest his body for what little time he was able to. He was a good fighter, that was true, but not in this state. Not now. He needed his healing spell to work faster, though he had not been able to make then do such a thing, not yet at least. He only needed a few minutes, only one or two more.
