| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

“Lamya…Lamya..” The whispers were becoming louder, day by day. It had led her to this forbidden forest. There was an ever present sound of a woman’s succulent voice calling to her. Perhaps it was just a figment of Lamya’s imagination. But she could feel something rising within her. Something evil was trying to emerge from within her very soul or maybe it was trying to take her over. But whatever it was, Lamya felt better, stronger, more evil than she ever had. And it felt good. Eerie noises could be heard throughout the forest. But Lamya was too involved in her search to hear them. It had become an obsession to find the owner of the voice. Suddenly the silence in her mind was deafening. And just like that, the voice was gone. |

"You're a very curious creature aren't you? You hear voices and you come a runnin'... Wondering what it could be. Such an evil voice it is, seductive in it's ways even.. Leads you astray to a dark nothingness..." A voice hissed, it was Ghan. He wasn't talking to anyone really. He was mainly talking to himself. He was in the middle of cutting himself out of a large spiderweb. "You run to the sound, so curious on who or what is calling your name, and suddenly you're caught. Away and eaten. Yes, never to return.." He soon had himself cut out of the web and stepped away from the web with the big hole. The spiders would never eat him, of course not. Who would want a Vampire Demon when they could have a plump and juicy Human or Elf? Ghan was sure of this, and a little too sure about his own safety in the forest. But, what did he care? He was half dead, and no one really cared one way or another anyways. His blue eyes looked up to see a figure. He realized by the slender figure it was probably a lady. He looked a little closer and saw it was an elf lady. He smirked slightly, feeling devilishly hungry. He started to walk up to her, not showing any signs of his vampire side. "What's a pretty face doing out here in the woods?" He asked, kind of mocking the many that had said the same line to many other women. "Especially with all these spiders in the area.." He said as he walked up to her. "You wouldn't want to be eaten would you?" He said, not able to help his thirst for blood. |

Lamya fell backwards in surprise. She had been so preoccupied, she had not noticed another being so close to her. Immediately she sensed something different about the man. She calmed herself and stared coldly into his equally blue eyes. “I come to these woods in search of something you could never comprehend. As for being a lady, I could most easily make you regret that statement.” Her hands skillfully reached behind her back unnoticed and touched the sharp metal of her demon sword. It held a great power of pure demonic energy. Not many had been able to withstand just a small slash. She retorted with, “Now what have you to say now?” The voice inside her head began to whisper, “Kiiill hiiimm. He does not deserve to live.” A wicked grin spread across her face. Her hands tightened on the sword and a crimson drop of blood slithered down her hand. She waited for him to make even the slightest move. |

He smirked devilishly, not making any slight movements, or any infact. "I am sorry, most women would think it be funny to mock those who said such a silly statement.. What I have to say is pointless reasoning that I'm sure you wouldn't want to know..." He said, stuffing his hands into the cloaks pockets. "You have a bit of evil in you don't you? Under all that elvish cover... Power even.. Yes.. Power.. You are a lucky one.. Yes.. So lucky in your search for both life and death.. Fate can only decide, though, what will eventually come to you. I know I will not kill you, hopefully you won't try to kill me.. Wouldn't help much anyway.. Considering I'm half dead anyway by birth... I'm used to the dead part.." He said quietly. "In fact, since I'm sure you would want to anyway, why don't you kill me.. Cut me in two.. I've always loved to see women with spunk.. My sister had spunk.. She tried to kill me every day until she disapeered.. But, then again.. I'm not sure if I really wish to die yet.." It was a game of his, just keep on talking, never really do anything unless he could figure out the weakpoint. |

Lamya listened carefully to his words in the beginning but as she realized he was babbling, she drifted off. She figured the creature would bring no harm to her so she relaxed her hands and allowed them to drift back to her sides. She turned her back to him and looked around for a comfortable spot to sit. "You ask if I am evil. I will answer you. Blackness spreads slowly throughout my body until I can feel no more. I have lost all faith that my life shall ever been considered a happy one. Long ago I fell to the dark side and I have yet to resurface. In fact, lately, I have been pulled deeper and deeper into the abyss by an unknown creature. One that whispers to me in my dreams. It tells me of such power I can have if only I allow it to bond with my soul. I fear it shall be soon that I will give in." She turned her eyes towards him and sat on a large rock. "Now I shall inquire as to why you are here." |

"The dark side isn't so dark really..." He said with a slight laugh. "It all depends on how you look at it. The dark is just the shadow of the light, and the light is just a highlight of the dark. So simple, yet, so complicated in its ways. You say you have dreams, leading you astray.. A simple voice urging you on.. Dragging you along.." He paced slowly in a particial circle about her. "You must see that there really is no good and evil really.. We seperate it to know who's alliance you are on.. Evil are the ones who know their power and teach it to grow and seep through what's left of their blood. To the so called "evil" we just want to put that power to good use. All the so called "good" in this world is fake. They are ruthless and brutal, just pretending that they care so in the very instant that another turns their head they cut it off for the power they wish to have. So what is good? What is evil? Evil can still help if they wanted to... But, instead, we help the world in our own way. We rid the world of pain. Or, at least, we try. So what is the difference? Simple, "evil" comes right out and says the truth. We don't pretend to be good.." He smirked, remembering how his father gave that same speech to him as a child. 'Good times.' He thought. |

"You still have no answered my question as to why you are here. I do not need to be lectured on good and evil and I find a flaw in your logic. You say evil rids the world of pain? What about those who live solely to cause pain? Anyways, enough of this chatter. I did not come here to listen to such talk. In fact, I must be getting on my way. I have many adventures to attend." She got up and dusted her clothes off. At that moment, not far away, a scream shattered Lamya's thoughts. "Did you hear that?" She swiftly unsheathed her sword and held it skillfully out. Something whispered in the darkness. Once again Lamya heard the voice that she tried so hard to block out. "I'm getting nearer little Lamya. I'm going to kill you oh so slowly." Lamya flinched slightly and waited for whatever it was to show itself. |

"Ah.. I never tell my business.. Mostly because I have none.. I just like to wander.." He went silent, blue eyes fixed on her quietly as if trying to figure out something. "I think you're hearing things lady.." He said harshly as he watched her unsheath her sword. He fumbled around in his pocket, pulling out a small bottle and taking a small sip from it and then putting the cork back on it. It was poison. He'd been drinking a small dab of diluted poison every day since he was a child. He had grown immune to it and now saw it as almost a intreging drink. Maybe even an addiction to poison. An addiction to living on the edge. He stuffed it back into his black cloak pocket and wrapped the cloak closer to his body just slightly. He wished to sink his fangs into her neck and suck out what life she had to offer his life addicted self. He needed it, yet he knew it not the time nor place. Even a vampire demon knew a thing or two about dignity. He wouldn't suck the life out of one who would most likely soon meet her doom anyway. Why not drink the more sweet liquor of a life so ripe? He sat down and smirked slightly, enjoying her insanity for a moment, leaning back. Not a care in the world sitting on the edge of insanity himself. "And as for "My philosophy"... I don't have one.. I just quote my fathers.. No questions, no in depth lecture.." |

Lamya ignored the man mainly because he wasn’t taking her seriously. Perhaps he believed she was just another mental case, but Lamya knew that the woods held such creatures that only the most trained ear could hear when they were approaching. It was at that moment a large black spider leaped out of a tree and fell within feet of the two. It’s fangs were long and dripping of poison. Lamya wasn’t that fond of spiders and a chill slithered down her spine. She almost wanted to dare the man to ignore it now. Part of her wanted the spider to sink its horrid fangs into his soft body. A grin crept upon her face. “Hmm I suppose you can handle this one so I’ll just sit down over here and watch.” She planted herself on the ground and watched. |

"Why would I hurt some poor little creature if I were not to eat it?" He asked with a smile. "See.. The spiders here are just like any other creature.." He explained as he stood up slowly. "They kill, they eat, they play. After a while you don't notice.. You don't notice how the voices keep becoming clearer.. You don't notice how no matter what you do you are lured to the deep depths of this forest. Do you know what this is called Spiderhaunt Woods? Well, if you have.. Haven't you ever wondered why they named it that way?" He smirked, looking to the spider who seemed to be creeping towards the elf. "See... Living things don't like vampires.. They don't have a taste for the dead.. Sure, they could eat me for my demon inners, but I don't think it would be too tastey for them.. It's like eating an orc.. I imagine they like nice plump humans, elves and dwarves mostly.. You know.. The sweet nectar.." He said with a slight laugh. "Actually, the spider will probably try to eat me too.. I can either kill it now or later.. I'm not sure though.. I mean, to watch it take your very life away from you with the beautiful nature that it has is very appealing to me.. Then again, I'm getting pretty hungry myself just thinking about it.." He said with a smirk. "Tell you what.. A little of your blood and I'll kill the stupid spider if you want.. I'm hungry, and I might as well get a quick meal.. I don't have to kill you of course, but then again it might be fun.." He thought for a moment quietly and shrugged. "Well, if you have made a decision just whistle.." He said with a laugh, turning and starting for the edge of Spiderhaunt Woods with a slight smirk. |
