| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Ghan Hails hissed slightly as he sat behind a table in The Green Gryphon. His blue eyes danced as he watched a few drunks dance, knocking into random things and stepping on the lady's feet. "Those drunk imbosils.." He hissed again before looking back to his sweet ale. He drank it down quickly, feeling the warm liquor go down his throat. He wiped his mouth on the sleeve of his long black cloak. "Another ale sir.. And make it snappy.." He barked slightly. Yes, it wasn't exactly his best day today, but things happen. One of the drunks tripped and fell on him, he simply threw him across the room. He didn't make a big deal out of it. That was life, if a person hurt him, he'd hurt them. It was that simple. It wasn't mean, and he didn't get dreadfully happy about it like some of those chaotic ones as they called themselves. He simply did what he wished and nothing could stop him, or, at least that's what he thought. He pushed back his dirty blond bangs that usually were pitch black and looked as the bartender gave him another ale. He started to sip it, keeping his black hood over him and keeping to himself. His eyes watched them again. 'This world should die.. There's no point in it really.. Why, this world should be mine. This world should bow before me. Yes, it certainly should. They wouldn't like it, but how would they know the difference unless they lived through it?' He thought, eyes shifting to the large window. It was dark, dark enough for him to walk around outside without wanting to die because of how it seemed to burn what soul he had left in his useless body. He gulped down the rest and walked to the window, not paying the bartender for his drinks. Under his cloak was not seen, nothing except two large black boots that were jutting from beneath it. He simply stared at the nothingness outside, waiting for the right time to find his dinner. Waiting for the right time to leave or stay. |

Rith was a at a table in a shadowy corner away from the door. He was in his normal child like form, but a black cloak hid his feature from sight. He spoke with a tall man with his features hidden in a simmilar fashion. Their voices never rose above a whisper and were drowned by the casual catter of the Green Gryphon. Rith ordered nothing to drink, but the tall man ordered one glass of ale before the had started their secretive disscussion. After seeing a final nod from the man he was speaking with. Rith pushed back his chair and stood up. He slowly made his way to the door of the tavern. A drunk human with wild facial hair stuck out a foot as if to trip Rith. Rith's attention was on the matters disscussed moments ago and failed to see this slight motion. Rith fell to the ground aand his hood was blown back. The man and a few other drunks at the table pointed and laughed. Only one man at the table seemed considerably sober. "Dirk, That's just a kid," the man said scoldingly, yet softly as the men pointed and laughed. Rith quickly pulled himself to his feet. As he did so the man named Dirk sneered," What's the matter kid? Wanna go run home to your mommy?" They broke into hideous laugheter again. Rith turned slowly to face Dirk his gaze was impeccable dark and menacing for the face of a small child and even more so Dirk. "I think I misheard you sir. Could you repeat that?" Rith said innocently. The Laughter of the table immediately came to a stop and Dirk's face turned deathly pale with fright. " I...said.......I want to go run home to my mommy," Dirk said sheepishly before bolting away from the table and out of the Green gryphon. His companions looked at eachother with dumfounded looks. As Rith turned to face to face the door, the sober man of the group slolwy stuttered," What...D--d-d-did y-y-you d-d-do to h-h-him?" Rith turned back to the man with the same dark and menacing gaze. "Worry not what was done to him, but what shall be done to yourself," Rith smiled before turning back towards the door. |

A menacing smile played and danced across his lips as he listened to the commotion of the room. He could tell something the others couldn't. Something strange. He could somehow sense an evil even greater than his. 'The chosen may not have been me after all...' He thought to himself. His blue eyes dashed to the boy, watching the scene unfold. He smirked devilishly. 'The one who fights without even having to make a move.. So simple, so evil. He is a child. Or could he be something much older? Looks are deceiving of course, you never really can tell now can you?' He thought to himself. He started to follow Rith, pulling him into the shadows in a flash. "You, have great power for one so small.. Everyone can feel it if they search for it.." He then let go of rith and made a ful turn towards the other direction. "What was that trick, tell me right, and your knowlege will be paid for just enough to pay the due." He said, looking back to him and holding a bag of gold. "I do not trick you, I dare not try. I don't trick the master until I learn to fly." He said, quoting an old book. "Then again, if you wish not to tell, I will go. If you wish to make a deal just go ahead and yell." He started for the door in a quick and quiet manner. "But do not disturb the dead, or you too will be in hell." Most of them were from a famous play that had many poems and lyrics in it. He had a knack for quoting at times, but mostly stayed quiet. He stuffed the gold in his pocket. |

Rith was surprised a second time as Ghan whisked him into the shadows. He face showed a lack of emotion as he listened to Ghan, rather than the meancing look he had given the men earlier. He was liking his words until the man brought out a bag of gold, "Does He think my teaching can be bought with MONEY?" The thought echoed angrily in his mind, yet he was pleased to see him muster the courage to to give a threat to one who he had so flattered. Prehaps if it were not for that Rith may have lost interst in the man. Rith smiled as he faded into the shadows. He reapperd outside near the door of the Green Gryphon. He opened it and was unsurprised to see Ghan, though likewise could likely not be said. "Would you do me the service of joining me in a walk?" Rith smiled as He began to skim through Ghan's thoughts as they formed. "It appears we have matters...of importance to disscuss," Rith smiled calmly. From Ghan's words Rith had no reason to doubt that Ghan would accept happily. He wondered if Ghan could truely be used for his guild. He was a vampire. While he hade super human strength and was practically immortal, he had several weaknesses as all vampires. Phedre was a vampire and she had proven her self worth of entrance to the guild. He was sure that Ghan could do likewise. Ghan had already proved a certain attentativeness. He obviously could see some improvements, but so could everyone else in the syndicate, to include the Lord of Whispers himself. |

Ghan didn't move his eyes to Rith at all. He stared calmly at the distance. "Yes, matters of importance I'm sure we do.. I thought you would be strangely annoyed at my forewardness... But, then again, I make judgements at times as all creatures do at one point or another.." He said. "A walk.. Yes.. Splendid.." He said, not really showing joy nor hatred nor any other emotion known to middle earth. Just a plain look on his out there face. He took a bottle from his cloak pocket and took a sip of a strange liquor. Poison. He had started taking a small dose of poison, but not enough to hurt him any, to keep him immune to the common poisons that most warriors used. So far it had been a quite useful step of insurity. Even though his vampire side could not be hurt, his demon side could diminish, he could loose his demon powers. He took a step towards what lay before him. Ghan was usually simple, quiet and not thinking of what's next. But, sometimes he could suprise you. He could easily tear out your throat and have fun doing it. He could easily make you want to do anything that he wanted you to do and you wouldn't even think about disobeying. He could easily think of a devious plan to knock off the many cities in middle earth. He planned to save his plans until the perfect time. Time now was to gain more and more power, test his mind, body, and soul, and then go out there and carry out his elaborate plans that he knew will either be victorious or lead to his ultimate destructions. He didn't care really though. He lived on the edge, always going for something even though there wasn't a very good chance he would make it. Some would think he was a chicken for waiting so long to try something so silly. Some think that he shouldn't be hiding in the shadows. But, he waits for the right time to make his presence known. |

"Splendid indeed," Rith smiled as he lead the way through the deserted streets. Rith's purple eyes caught sight of the bottle Ghan drunk from. He immediately recognized it as poison. He had used this paticular type once before. Ghan did seem to be a vampire and it would make sense that the drug had no or little ill effect. "A curious taste for drinks if I might say so myself," Rith laughed. Rith's voice quickly became more serious now that he believe it was time to begin his disscussion of matters of importance. "What you saw in there was a mere glimpse of my ablities. The minds of the drunks were little more than child's play to me. None of my greater ablities were called to deal with them. I can teach to handle your oppents without raising a fist and much more, but my lessons come at a price as does everything in life." "This price is not one paid with gold," Rith said pulling a hand from out of his cloak. The hand seemed to hold a large amount of gold coins, many of which were rolling off into the ground as he walked. He shook his hand and the golden illussion faded to nothingness. "It is the price of servitude. To see if you are worthy of paying this price to me, I request a that you fufill a paticular job for me," Rith said as a sinister smile began to grow on his face. "I can modify it to your own skills, but I must know where your skills lie." "In any case I can not tell you of this job until you accept. I am sure you understand what I mean," Rith grined. |

"I've grown a liking for it... I've been building up immunities for certain poisons by drinking just enough so that i don't get ill but still have an immunity for it. You can't drink too much at a time though. This could kill a demon.." He said with a slight shrug. "Which is why I don't try any more than three sips a day.. I'd have an addiction if I didn't keep myself from it.." He went quiet, looking straight ahead as he stuffed the bottle back into his coat. "I figured that you must've had more power in you.." He said. "It is obvious.. Well, to me anyway. The world has power.. Much more than anyone can understand. Our world is in lust after the power of such despair and nothingness.. But some.. They don't just do it for power, wealth, greed... Some feel that it doesn't matter, so why not destroy what's left of the despairing nothingness that consumes us.." He took a smirk, being quiet again. He stuffed his hands into his cloak pockets and fumbled in them as he walked. "Although not everyone understands, sometimes you can tell what kind of power lies beneath.." "And that is what it all leads to. You wish to see what I can do... I give my loyalty and give servitude... For something that may lead to something brighter.." He said, thinking a moment. "That way, if it is so that I have a gift you can use to your advantage.. You can own me.." He said with a slight smirk. "Well, I guess I know what I'll have to do.." He stopped. "I accept." He said simply. "But, let me assure you, I am not as familiar with magics as some.. That is why I wish to learn.. Demons and vampires don't care for the stuff as much as killing and smelling the sweetness of blood. I cannot say my power, but, my mind can work differently than most... And, I think I may understand you.." He said, looking at him before to the distance. He was always half in one world and half in the real world. Observant I guess you could say. |

"Curious. I beleive your are the first vampric demon I have heard of. Though it is a mix I guess was fated to happen sooner or later. Addicted to something than can kill you. My my, that would be a strange occurance though I am positive it has happened to others before," Rith grined widenly. He was positive because he had caused a few fools to end their lives in such a way. "Power comes in many forms. Magic, money, people, anyhting that can be used to control people and det what you want. Many people not of their own power. There are also thos who are adept at concealing their power, save when pestered by foolish infedels," Rith grined. He was not quite sure where Ghan was going with some of his words, but he would have time to assess Ghan's goals later on and perhaps redirect those goals which conflict with Rith own goals. "Worry not. I can teach you to perform simmilar tricks to what you saw without the use of magic. But we will be going through lots of magic to teach more immpressive powers, but more on that later. Now we wil go over your task. Your job shall be to watch one named Ahren. I wish that you get some information of him. I leave it to you to discern what my might be useful and how you shall go accomplish this task. He is the proclaimed master of the windbow so he should not be difficult to find," Rith smiled. After Rith said Ahren's name, an image of Ahren appeared before then. the image of the half angel slowly twirled around while keeping a contsant distance from Rith and Ghan. Rith turned his eyes to Ghan. " I don't think I have learned of your name yet," Rith smiled. |

"Other than my sister I am the only vampiric demon that I know of. I wouldn't doubt there's not many though, vampires and demons aren't always the best of friends if you know what I mean.. Mother only wanted us to take over the world for her.." He said with a slight meaningless menacing chuckle that seemed to be making fun of what brought him into the world. "She thought we were pets.. Any how.." He said, sighing. "Temptation is one of the most deadly powers of this world and many others. Temptation of death lures others into its trap and conceals them like a steal cage. Once you step into the trap it's hard to find a way to escape.." Ghan said, eyes staring into space as he walked. "This is true.. Power comes in many forms. Many have no magic relation what so ever. Power is above and beyond every one of us, but some manage to jump and steal some.." He muttered slightly. His blue green eyes fixed on nothing but air as he walked. He paid no attention to anything, today he had no use for distraction. "Might I ask opinions on power? You seem to have much to say.. But then, an opinion may be bad in some cases." "You do not know me as well as you think you do.. I do not do well with others, I usually push them far away but asking too many questions for fun.." He said quietly. "But since it is my task I will try for this. I make no promises for I do not know, myself, if I (indeed) am or am not capable of this task that you have appointed. Before I do this task I must first know more about what this information is for. If I do not know why the information needs to be gathered how will I decide what I need to learn?" He said. "It is either tell me one or the other or I might not be able to finish this task successfully.." He said, face emotionless. His eyes wandered to the boy-ish figure after looking at Ahren's image. "My name is Ghan Hails. Don't worry to look up information on me, not many people who have met me are alive or have anything useful.." He said, kind of teasing Rith very slightly. "And you are?" He asked. |

Rith had thought that he was merely a vampire who had gotten bitten, but now that seemed not to be the case. Rith did not even think it possible that a demon and a vampire and a demon could have a child let alone two. Rith of course had not much of a care on the matter. Rit suspected that the mother was a vampire and the father was a demon. A demon would likely want their children to destroy the world rather than rule it. It was funny people set unreachable goals for themselves and then force them upon their children. Doomed to be failures from birth. Rith might have had pity for Ghan, but pity was not something Rith felt for anyone. "Such a pity. Life must have been miserable to have such high expectations. I imagine you got out of that situation as soon as possible," Rith chuckled softly. "Ah, yes. An opinon can be wrong. You may ask of mine and even be graced with a proper reply. I have pretty much given you my thoughts of power. It is control. It is what is needed to get what you want. I have much to say, but there is only so much which needs to be said," Rith replied. His cold purple eyes stayed infront of him. "You must be prepared to do well with others. People are the best source of power. With the proper contacts one can accomplish great things. Learning the art of diplomacy is a neccesary skill or else your power can turn against you. You don't wan't your project to collapse just because the foundation is weak, but I digress. As for Ahren, Anything that you think can be used against him in the slightest manner will suffice. I shall be monitoring you from afar and will contact you when I am satisfied with your work," Rith smiled before waving his hand before him and dispelling the image. Rith smiled at the man's remark. There was always more than one way to skin a cat and Rith knew near all of them. "Do not underestimate my prying eye. It is a pleasure to meet you Ghan. I am Rith. If you understand what it is that you must do then this meeting is over. Do well to ask your questions now should you have any." |

"It wasn't a pity..." He said. "It isn't sad.. She made me strong, and listen to no one." He smirked. "I took her teachings, and those teachings backfired on her. She made a good meal though.." His eyes looked to Rith quietly for a second. "So, you see, there is nothing I regret." He said. He listened, saying nothing since there was nothing yet to be said. It was not his time to speak. "I'll try to be a good doggy.." He joked with a slight chuckle, so short it seemed as if it was forced. "I won't try to eat my assignment.." He joked again. He listened again quietly before adding more. "Then I guess I should start to go looking for what I need, and that this meeting is over.." He said quietly. "I guess we will most likely meet again." He said, eyes turning back to a calm blue as he looked in front of him. (sorry it's so short.. <_< ) |
