Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Night had fallen and Iliana needed a drink. She had wondered the city all day in search of a new pair of leather boots. The ones she own were worn and tired, as well as her feet.
Iliana saw the perfect spot for a rest. The sign read “The Green Gryphon.” From the street Iliana could see that the place had a few people, but didn’t seam to be overcrowded.

Looking down at herself, Iliana did a once over, checking to see if she looked okay. She tugged on her cloak to smooth out any rankles that my have accumulated. Then she twisted her belt a little to make sure that her dagger was concealed and headed for the entrance.

Night had fallen once again, and Shien was on the prowl. She moved swiftly and silently through the city streets, keeping in the shadows. She had just returned from a house where someone had died; the pain that had been there was very great. Her soul was full with power. Shien leaped onto a rooftop, just for the pleasure of being airborne.
However, holding so much power made her feel a bit tired. She spotted an Inn a few streets over, and slipped quickly over the rooftops. This is much easier than the streets, she thought.
She reached the street, and jumped down onto the cobblestones below. Shien reached the door at the same time as another woman. The woman appeared to be slightly older than Shien, and wiser too. It would be to my benefit to attach myself to this woman, she thought.
Reaching for the door, Shien opened it for the woman.
Good e'en, said she, her voice deep and quiet. Here, let me get the door for you.

Iliana looked at the girl with a puzzling smile. “Thanks,” she said as she walked in. How does one get a drink around here? Iliana thought to herself. She scanned the lobby of the inn, but no one was at the front desk. The only person she saw, besides her and the girl, was what looked to be a bell hop sleeping on a stool in the far corner of the room.

She walked up to the desk and peered around. A loud *laugh* came from behind a set of doors to the far right. Iliana had a hunch that behind the doors would be a bar.

Shien looked around the deserted room. There was no one at the desk, and the only other person in the room was a bell hop, standing by the door.
Excuse me, she said in her deep voice, where might one find a room for sleeping, and food and drink for relaxing?
The boy walked over to the desk, and pulled out a book. It was a ledger, with room numbers and signatures of the people who were in them. He pulled out a pen, and gestured to an empty space on the paper. Room 124 is open, miss. Will you be staying with the lady, or would you like a separate room? Shien turned to the woman. She was standing by the desk, peering through a door. What do you think, ma'am? Would you like to share a room with me and save a penny or two?

Iliana turned her attention to the girl. "Umm...well I supose since it's late and I haven't much money. So sure," she said with a smile. Iliana was questioning her answer for she really didn't know this person. The girl appeared harmless, but Iliana thought best to keep a close eye on her.

She looked at the hop behind the counter, "How many beds are in the room and how much does to room cost?"

(ok...I'll control the bellhop...it will be easier that way)

The bellhop paused. "Why, for the two of you, let's say about 10 gold pieces."
Shien laughed. 10 gold pieces? That is a reasonable offer. That would be 5 from each...
The bellhop smiled. "No, you mistake me madame. I meant 10 gold pieces each."
Shien's sweet temper began to dissolve, as easily as a mist on a hot morning. 10 each? I think it is you who are mistaken. The lady and I will pay 5 each. Do you understand me?
As she was saying this, Shien allowed her eyes to glow. The more afraid the bellhop became, the more they glowed. She drew on his fear, and felt the pain that this caused. She fed off of him, until tears began to flow from his eyes.
"Alright," he stuttered. "5 each." His hands were shaking as he handed each of the two women a key. "Up the stairs, 3rd door on the right. And please," he swallowed nervously "if you need anything, please call someone else."
As the bellhop moved quickly away from him, Shien turned to her new companion, a wicked smile on her face.
That wasn't so bad, was it? She chuckled, then held out her hand. My name is Shien, ma'am. May I know who is to be my roomate?

Iliana laughed to herself. She wasn't used to being called 'ma'am' but the girl appeared to be just being polite. She reached for the girl's hand and grasped it firmly, not too firm as to break her hand, but just enough. "Iliana, and it's a pleasure."

After a biref moment she released Shien's hand and turned slowly to start up the stairs, "Let's see were our room is and then I'm going hunting for previsions. I'm famished," she said as she continued walking.

Ok, I will see you in a little bit then. I am going to go see what the bar looks like.
Shien pushed open the door near the desk, and walked in. It was crowded, and loud, and smoky. There was an empty table in the corner, and Shien made a beeline for it. As she passed by the other tables, she noticed men's eyes following her every move. Smiling slightly to herself, she allowed her cloak to open a bit more, revealing the black robe she wore underneath. Very simple in its make, it revealed nothing, but showed off everything. It fit her perfectly, and outlined her slim figure very well. It flowed around her like black water, and she knew what effect that had on men, especially human men.
The motioned to the bartender, who followed her to the table. She told him what she wanted, he nodded, then retreated.
Now all I have to do is wait for Iliana, and do a bit of people watching, she thought to herself. Maybe I can get a little bit more soul food before the evening is out.

Iliana found her way to the room. It was quaint with a small fireplace. There was only one bed but near the fireplace there’s a good-sized settee. This will do for me , Iliana thought to herself, it's better then the ground .

When she left the room, she had a small fire burning and a fresh change of clothes that she had in her small traveling bag. She made her way back down to the lobby and headed towards the lounge. As she opened the stained glass doors she noticed that the crowd had grown slightly larger then when her and Shien had arrived.

*Eerrrrg*, her stomach was grumbling. Were to sit? , she thought. Iliana spotted Shien at a table in the far corner of the room. She sifted her way though the crowd and landed with a slight ‘thud’ as she sat across from her new friend. “How does one get some fuel around here?” she said smiling.

Shien motioned for the bartender. He returned to the table with his arms loaded with the food she had ordered. He set down two glasses, and poured red wine into each of them. Then, bowing slightly, he retreated.
Here, enjoy. I believe I have ordered enough for the both of us. Indeed she had. There were two plates that held steaming slices of meat, a bowl of vegetables, and two bowls of soup. Take what you wish, and the rest can be stored in such a way as to keep for a long time. That should take care of your food supply for a few weeks.
Shien sat back her her chair, and tucked one hand under her arm. With the other hand, she picked up a glass of wine, and held it up in a toast.
To new friendships. May they last as long as they are necessary.

“To new friendships,” Iliana toasted with Shien. The glasses *clinked* and then Iliana took a sip of the wine. The wine went down smoothly with a nice fruity after taste. She set her goblet down on the table. Iliana looked at Shien and then at the food. The bounty looked wonderful but she felt a little awkward because there was a whole lot of it.

“You really didn’t have to order so much,” she said, “some soup and roles would have been plenty.” Iliana lifted her head back to Shien and smiled, “But we can’t let this go to waist now can we?” she said as she popped a carrot into her mouth.

Shien reached for her dagger, and speared a slice of meat. It was very juicy, and had been cooked to just the right temperature. She tore a piece off with her teeth, and chewed it slowly, enjoying every bite.
She allowed her eyes to roam over the room, and watched the other patrons of the Inn take their meals.
In a dark corner of the room, she saw two men seated rather close together, their heads bent in conversation. Her natural curiosity was piqued, and she wanted to know what they were talking about. She turned to Illiana.
Those two men over in the far corner, what do you think they are talking about? She gestured covertly with her dagger, pointing them out to Illiana.

Peering over her shoulder, Iliana looked at the two men then back at Shien. “Humm…I wouldn’t have the fantasts idea,” Iliana replied. The men did appear somewhat suspicious to Iliana but she didn’t have much concern for them, or anyone else for that matter. “Maybe you should go ask or just ignor them?”

Shien chuckled. I was hoping you would volunteer to go ask them. It seems to me that they might have something interesting to say. And, she said, taking a bite of meat, I'd hate to miss out on an opportunity to listen to something interesting.
She flagged down the bartender, and he made his way ponderously through the crowd. When he reached their table, Shien smiled coquettishly and said,
Tell me, good sir. Who might those men be over there? The two with their heads locked together, as if they were telling deep, dark secrets?

The bartender looked at the two men, then back at Shien.
"I'd stay out of their business if I were you. They are up to no good, and I would hate to see two pretty faces such as yours get hurt by getting mixed up with the likes of them."
Shien nodded, and thanked the man. As he shuffled away, she turned to Iliana.
So? What do you think? Should we go over and introduce ourselves?

Iliana swallowed the veggies she was chewing. “Humm… I think we should ask them to join us. Your curiosity in them is making me wonder,” she replied. Iliana didn’t really like introducing herself to strangers but the fact that Shien had taken an interest in them made her just a little intrigued.

She took a long swig on her wine and then as she set the goblet down she arose from her seat. “Come on,” she said with a seductive smile, “let’s see what these guys are up to, if the bar keep says they are up to no good.”
