Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Ranewen slowly made her way through the woods, her head hanging low and her eyes fixed on the ground as if it was a magnet to her two red eyes. She finally blinked a few times and stepped over a root, which stuck out of the ground. She sighed lightly and leaned against a tree and looked up at the giant spiders as they climbed down the tree’s trunk to look at the Goddess. Ranewen, not afraid, stayed against the tree as the spider’s leg touched her shoulder and its eyes watching her. She finally moved away from it, looking up at the dark sky with only the moon lighting it. She smiled and then looked back down at the ground, which lay before her. Not far away from here was her temple, and she felt right at home. She found an uprooted tree and sat on it and looked around once more. She could’ve sworn that she had heard a twig snapping from the direction in which she had come. She frowned as she though, not remembering anyone following her into the forest. She just shrugged her shoulders and used Alter Form to change her appearance until she found out who it was. She transformed into a pretty necromancer female, with long fiery-red hair and piercing icy blue eyes that stared into the forest. She let herself stand at about five foot eight, and with her she carried a necromancer’s staff and a spell book, which contained all of her spells as the original form. She decided to lie about her name, too. How many people in Imythess were named Ranewen other than the Goddess? Ranewen couldn’t think of one other person she had ever met with the same name as she. She shrugged her shoulders and searched her mind for a name. Nellas… she decided. She hadn’t met anyone else named Nellas either. And if they asked for a last name, she’d think of one fast enough. Her eyes searched for the source of noise once again and she drummed her fingers on the orb atop her staff.

Shynthrrir was a curious man. He had been walking through the lands of Imythess outside of the Spiderhaunt woods and had nothing planned for the day when he spotted someone. He didn't know who, or maybe even what, the person was, but he was a curious man and his very soul urged him to follow.

As silent as night he followed the, from what he could tell, girl deep within the woods though still couldn't tell who this person was and why she was even in these woods.

Spiders were all about him and it was getting a little scary for him. He didn't like spiders much. He wasn't afraid of them, but he didn't like them. Spiders walked on the ground, wpun their magestic webs, and some even seemed to be having fun taunting the Drow as he walked through the forest to follow the mysterious woman.

Snap!!
The suddenness of the sound scared Shynthriir. His heart was racing. Would he be found by this mysterious girl? What would she do when she learned that a wondering person, a wondering Drow at that, was following her?

Shynthriir was quick to spin about and hide behind a mighty tree. It's wide base was large enough to shield him. He only prayed that he was not seen.

Shynthriir peered around the trunk of the mighty tree and tried to spot the girl he was following. She seemed unchanged and that eased the heart rate of the Drow. He didn't seem to be found out, but looks can be quite deceiving. He moved back behind the safety and shelter of the tree and thought out his next move.

Did he dare move back to the open and hope that he would be accepted? The idea was quick to leave his mind. I am a Drow! he thought to himself. No one likes a Drow and in these conditions, his life was sure to be at risk.

Shynthriir waited, as patiently as he could, to see the actions of the girl. If she had heard him, then she would certainly call out for him. If she didn't know of him trailing behind her, then he would easily be able to continue to follow her.

Ranewen looked around and she could’ve sworn she saw someone peek around a tree. She frowned and got up again. Damn people following me again… she said. She remembered the last time she was here; she was almost attacked by some creature. She shrugged her shoulders and walked on, not changing her forms back. Even if someone used Detect Magic, it wouldn’t work on her. She smiled, loving the power of being a Goddess. The abilities it gave her to play with people’s minds and to scare them away. She smirked and used Alter Form once more. This time, she just added a celestial-yet-evil-looking trait to her. Her skin was pale, and her eyes shimmered. Gray wings were on her back, sagging against the ground as she walked as if lifeless. Ranewen remembered the days when she had wings. She shook her head to free herself of the thought and continued walking, casting backward glances every once in a while. “It’s not use hiding… The shadows are my power and I can watch you…” She let her voice echo from all sides around him and she smirked, satisfied. She could only imagine the look on her follower’s face. She held back laughter and continued walking, her glance down at the ground, changing every so often to look back in the Drow’s direction, quite annoyed that someone would follow her this far into her own homelands. The thought disturbed her and she turned around and starting walking in his direction. No one follows and stalks me without me knowing them in my own homelands… she thought angrily as she continued toward the tree he was hiding behind. She didn’t know it was that exact tree, but then she stopped and remembered her abilities for being in the God of Nature’s prestige class – Apprenticeship of the Druids. She used ‘Eye of the Tiger’ and looked through the trees and smirked when she saw the Drow behind it. “I can see you…” she said as she got behind a tree herself, “But you can’t see me…” She let her voice echo throughout the Spiderhaunt Woods yet again, loving the look of fear on people’s faces. Unless he was different than the others.

Shynthriir stayed close behind, not letting the mysterious girl get too far, but not getting close enough to be seen by her unless she was looking for him. Step by step he went on making sure his mindless foot didn't step upon another dead twig. How silly he had been when he made that mistake the first time, he wouldn't do it again.

Something was different about the girl though, something in her looks. He didn't quite remember what he saw behind the tree, it was hard to make out details, but he didn't remember her having wings. Was this person able to change shape and appearance? The thought greatly disturbed him. This could be anyone. A commoner with a good spell, a wizard wondering the wood, or maybe, but he did doubt it, a God, or even a Goddess. He shook the last though from his head. Why would an immortal be out in these woods? It didn't make sense. He still needed to be safe though; he didn't know what would happen when he got found.

And found he was. This person must be very powerful to know of his location, for her to see him and not be in a place where he could see her. It must have been some sort of location spell, but Shynthriir took a breath and remained calm. Maybe she was bluffing? Was she just paranoid?

He waited for the girl to say anything more. He hoped she didn’t actually see him, what would he tell her? He could believe she knew where he was.

Again she proclaimed she knew where he was, this time it seemed more serious. There was no doubt in her voice when she said that she knew where he was. His heart was picking up pace, but Shynthriir wouldn’t let it beat too fast. He barely managed to remain calm.

He stepped to the open, prepared for the worst, but hoping for the best. He saw the girl but couldn’t tell if she could see him, with her eyes at least.

Ranewen smirked as he came out from behind the tree. “What’s this? A Drow afraid to show himself to someone of a more superior rank?” She decided to play with his mind. She purposely let herself stay changed until he could guess who she was, or what she was. She looked nothing like herself, which was exactly what she wanted. A smirk danced on her lips as she watched the Drow, wondering who he was. “Now tell me, who are you?” she demanded and leaned on her staff as if she were an old woman needing support from an oversized cane. Her icy clue eyes watched him, curious if he was going to answer her question, or if he was too afraid to ask. She chuckled a bit and shook her head. “It’s a pity… To see a Drow that seems scared somehow… Or annoyed, are you?” She smiled and held back her laughter ,wanting to put on her best performance. She took a step forward to look at him more closely. She moved her necromancer staff with her as she took the few steps forward, so that their distance was now around five feet. She looked him over once more and nodded. He is a Drow… But what would one be doing here in the Woods where the Shadows roam? she asked herself, but refused to ask him afraid of making him suspicious. Yes, she wasn’t afraid. So, she took in a deep breath and let it out in a sigh before asking. “What is one like yourself doing out here, where the Souls walk freely and the darkness rules?” She let her eyes quickly change red, before going back to red in almost one and a half seconds. She just smirked and waited for her answers patiently, as if she had all the time in the world to wait. Basically, she did. She was immortal, although this man wouldn’t know it unless she revealed her real self, or if he guessed before that. She frowned, wondering what the turnout would be if he guessed right off the bat. No one to toy with… she thought dimly and then let her frown fade, her lips forming its infamous straight line. Sometimes, it seemed as if her lips were sewn shut, since she rarely every smiled. She smirked, but that was possible with sewn lips. She took in another deep breath and let it out slowly as she looked him over once more, still wondering if she had seen this Drow once before, somewhere where she was not welcome with open arms, but merely shunned away with closed shutters and windows.

Shynthriir's heart rate eased when he was not immediately attacked, though he still was unsure if he should be scared of the presence of this person, or for all he knew, creature. He tried to keep calm, but still felt somehow threatened by this girl. Who is this mysterious girl? he continuously asked himself, though would not know the answer anytime soon if he was able to guess anywhere near the truth.

The stranger told something of herself in her line of questions. She had no doubt that she was of higher rank than he was, and in turn, must be more powerful. Shynthriir knew that he would have to watch both his moves and his words or else he might be left dead on the ground for the spiders to finish off.

"I am Shynthriir," he informed the girl while he nodded his head in respect. He would have given a bow, but the sudden move might have ended up in a disastrous outcome.

He knew better than to lie to someone like this and told the truth to the last question she had asked him, "I will not lie. I was walking outside the forest and saw someone enter it, you. I couldn't help but follow for something about you seemed to attract me." Maybe it was her power? Shynthriir thought to himself, but didn't saw out loud.

"As you can see, I am a Drow; whatever that might mean. I was abandoned as a child and was left to learn of the ways of the world by myself and know not the ways of my people. If you have a grudge against them, I ask if you would leave them between yourself and a true Drow." Shynthriir looked to the ground awaiting whatever might come to him, hoping that she would see the truth in his words.

Ranewen grunted and nodded her head at the information she received. “That’s nice, though I don’t really care if you were abandoned or not… I didn’t ask you, did I? No, I don’t recall doing so…” she snapped and shook her he ad and looked up at the large trees as the spiders looked at both of t hem from high branches. They seemed to just be curious, knowing who Ranewen actually was due to their ability of knowing her powers. She blinked slowly, and decided to tell him the name she had thought of. “I am Nellas… And you don’t need to know of my rank or what I am. All I will tell you if that I am a necromancer, through-and-through. Do you know whose woods you are walking through right now? Who watched over your every move?” she asked, wondering if he even knew that her temple lay not too far from where they were currently standing. She turned, to see if his curiosity would lead him to follow her. She smirked and stepped over branches and rocks, using a used path toward Shamaroth Lake, which was right before the temple, as if it were a fence or a warning sign that no one of the good side should pass. She felt the souls’ presence get stronger as she neared the temple, yet she was unmoved by it. They couldn’t harm her. She was the Goddess of Darkness, was she not? She looked back once again at this man and shook her head, moving her staff as if it were a weightless walking stick. She didn’t care if he followed. It was merely a test to see if his curiosity had caused him to follow her into the Spiderhaunt woods. I’m still amused by his words… An abandoned Drow? I’ve never heard of a Drow that has ever abandoned their child… She wanted to laugh out loud, wondering if he was lying to her or not. She shrugged, though, and continued walking, hopping over a boulder and using her staff to help her stay upright as she landed.

Shynthriir wanted to deny his thought that this girl, this clamming-to-be a vampire girl was a goddess. Maybe not just a Goddess, but the Goddess of Darkness, the one who rules in this forest. By why? Why would one such as herself be hiding her identity? Would a Goddess not be able to defend herself in her own woods, her own territory? It seemed illogical and the thoughts, once again, vanished from his mind.

"Ranewen," he shouted to Nellas as she walked away from him; to where, he did not know. "Ranewen, the Goddess of Night. She is the one who is watching my every move, listening to my every word. She is the one who rules these woods and all that is in it."

Shynthriir was shocked that he had suddenly said that. He didn't plan on letting Nellas have an answer, figuring it to help her prove some far away point. His pride would not let him not answer the question though. He knew of the answer and took pride in it. He liked the darkness, it was a place for him to escape from the world and all of it's troubles. The darkness was his home.

Shynthriir's thoughts then came to a question. He had been following Nellas through the woods out of curiosity. He certainly did not mean to harm her in any way, just wished to learn why someone like herself would go into such a dangerous forest. He was quick to learn that she was far more powerful than he first though. She even measured up to the God of Fire, a powerful foe. Why then did she ignore him so? He wouldn't be able to harm her and he only was curious.

"Why are you in such a place as this? Do you seek Ranewen?" The question sparked something within him. A sudden urge filled his soul to go visit the Goddess of Darkness himself. If Nellas was going to see her, maybe he could accompany her; though he did doubt that Nellas would accept him as a traveling partner.

(Pretty short, but I hope you'll live. ^^ I gotta go, so yeh...)

Trying hard not to laugh and fall over, she turned around and looked at him straight into his eyes. She took a few steps closer to him and let her alter form ability drop. “I am Ranewen…” She smirked and stepped back and watched him with slight amusement wondering what he would think. He was of no match to her power, but he was very curious, which was the only thing that worried her. With too many questions, she’d get very annoyed and perhaps accidentally kill him due to her rage. She took in a deep breath and turned around once more. He was here just for a walk she wanted to believe. But he wasn’t. He followed her into her own homeland. She just shook her head and smirked, finding the path again that led to her temple and walked on it.

She glanced back only once, wondering if this man would follow her or not. She could sense his movements, due to the fact that her powers were strongest where she was. She didn’t fear him; she only feared for him. If he accidentally angered her, which was possible in too many ways to count, he’d be down for the count – over and out. She looked back over her shoulder, wondering if his curiosity would take him over and he’d follow. She didn’t mind, but she felt as if she were being stalked. Then again, she could just turn around and kill him easily, if she so wished. But she wanted to learn more about this man.
