Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Zan walked into the tavern, the hood of his cloak shielding his face. Only his eyes could be seen, lurking from underneath the hem. There was blood on his clothes and his katana was still blooded too, seeing that he had been fighting daemons all night. He was a bounty hunter now and that was what he really liked to do, day and night.

He walked through the crowded building, finally arriving at the bar. He ordered a drink and it didn't take long before he sat at a table, the mug between his blood stained hands. He looked around and saw nothing but drunks.

'Filthy drunks', he mumbled while staring into his drink again. He wondered if anything still was going to happen tonight.

*OOC: shorty short, sry cant think of anything

It had been a very long day and Renate could use a drink to calm her down. She was tired. Exhausted even and as soon as she spotted the tavern in the corner, she threw the door open and closed it behind her. A few drunks stared at her and gave her looks. A few of the men licked their lips and Renate didn't wish to know what they were thinking. She walked past them quickly and sat down at the bar. The girl was a pirate by trade. She wore a long cloak and a pirate hat. She took her hat off and put it on the bar. Her hair was a bit messed up because of the wind and the pirate ran her fingers through her hair to improve her hairdo. Renate looked around and ordered a cup of tea. The barmaid brought her her order and the pirate paid immediately to avoid problems.

Renate looked at the tavern visiters. Most were dancing and singing. They were drunk and probably would wake up on the streets the next day. That didn't appeal to the pirate at all. She had high morals and never got drunk. She didn't even drink. Not even ale. And all pirates drunk ale. Except for her. Renate sighed and shook her head, disgusted with the ''entertainment''.

The pirate then noticed a boy sitting alone, enjoying his drink. He wasn't drunk, she thought and smiled at him. She wasn't sure if he noticed her or not, but he seemed nice. Maybe he'd like some company. Renate stood up and approached him with her cup of tea.

''Evening,'' she greeted him, holding her hat in her left hand and her drink in her right. ''Would you like some company?'' she asked him and waited for him to respond.

Zan slowly raised his head, the hood slightly falling back, revealing his pale face; his dark brown hair and his black eyes with black lines around them. He studied the woman in front of him and then nodded.

"Yea sure, sit down", he said, while looking back at his drink again. He took a large sip and wondered why the woman had chosen to sit opposite him, he scared most people away with his evil look.

But this woman was a pirate, and that was different, of course. Pirate ladies just dared to do more then any ordinary person. Pirate men too, don't forget. Zan sighed deeply and wiped his blooded katana off on his cloak. He didn't care, the thing was bloody already, so it really didn't matter.

Zan sheathed the katana again and stared in the distance, wondering if the woman would start to talk to him. He wasn't a talkative person.

Renate held her breath when she saw he was about to answer. She hoped he wouldn't tell her to leave him alone. That would be kind of embarrassing in such a crowded tavern. But he told her to sit down, so she did. The pirate smiled, happy. Her body stopped tembling and she examined the boy his face. He wasn't human, she thought. There was something different about him. He looked quite evil, but that fascinated her.

''My name is Renate Villerius,'' she said, thinking an introduction might break the ice. She smiled at the boy opposite her while he cleaned his katana using his cloak. ''What's your name?'' she asked, curious and unable to hold back. ''You're not human, are you? You seem a bit...evil,'' the pirate said, not knowing how to ask him about his race properly. ''Are you a swordsman?'' Renate continued her questions, glancing at his katana. He seemed like a good swordsman to her, but she could be mistaken. She wasn't often mistaken though.

Renate was going to ask some more questions, but she figured she should give him some time to answer her first questions first. Then she'd ask more questions. He wasn't very talkative, the pirate guessed. She didn't mind that. She could keep a conversation going. No problem. Maybe he'd even join her crew. Or, something she only thought of now. He could be an enemy. Renate hoped that wasn't the case. He seemed like a nice guy. In a weird way that was.

Zan raised his head again and studied the woman's face. She surely was a nosy type of person, but perhaps that was just her way to be nice. He was sure she didn't mean to be nosy or so. He smiled weakly.

"My name is Zan..." he said quietly. He didn't want anyone else to hear it, names were dangerous things. One could track you down just by knowing your name. Names were like lables, haunting you your entire life. It was better to stay nameless, but then again, no one would be able to address you. Even if you stayed a 'nameless one' and people called you like that, then that would be a name. It was almost impossible to not have a name.

"And I'm not human, no. I'm daemonic".

He grinned slightly and finished his drink.

"And daemons are generally evil, yes. I'm a swordsman, mostly fight with the katana I have here, although I cast spells as well now and then. It depends on my mood".

And his mood was gloomy, most of the time.

Renate smiled as he introduced himself as Zan. That was an interesting name, she thought. Unusual. ''Nice to meet you, Zan,'' she whispered. He obviously didn't want others to know his name and she didn't want to annoy him already. Secrets were a person's best friends sometimes. The truth was often the enemy. Something you had to hide in order to survive.

Renate stared at his katana as he talked about his job as a swordsman. She wondered if he was a good fencer like her. ''So how long have you been a swordsman? And how did you learn to fight? Did someone teach you? I had to learn to be a good fencer because my parents were pirates. I was brought up on board of a ship so I had to be able to defend myself. And I loved life as a pirate so I never gave it up. I now have my own ship and crew. My parents would be very proud of me. But alas, they died. My sworn enemy killed them in battle. One day I will avenge them. But not yet. I am still young. I can still improve and become a better fencer. But I do fight many in the meantime. Just for practice,'' Renate said, explaining some of her background to her new friend.

She hoped it hadn't shocked him. Many people thought pirates were evil. But that wasn't true. They had a good heart. They were adventurous and they fought for what they believed in. But there was nothing wrong with that, the pirate thought. She took a sip from her tea and waited for Zan to say something.
