Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Jhael didn't bother with the door. He had been there before and knew where the most prominent shadows lay. He just hope he didn't land on anyone when he arrived in the corner seat of the tavern. Luckily, no one was and few noticed the much more substantial shadow who reclined there, his amber eyes scanning the cheery room for the bard he sought after. He had met Sephiroth and heard of his dark ways and of the bard of wind who hunted him. Jhael had been fascinated for a while about their struggle, and now wished to meet the bard herself...

Aeri had just gotten done performing. She stepped from the stage and almost jumped when she saw the amber eyes in the corner and debated whether or not she should approach them, they seemed dangerous, playful, and yet trustworthy all at the same time. And slightly familiar.

Making her way through the crowd, who frequently stopped her and she had to give thanks to their praise of her performance. Finally able to escape from the main throng of people, she approached the man's table cautiously, a little afraid of the occupant...

Jhael flashed a quick grin at her as she untangled herself from the people. Though he had only seen the last few moments of her performance, it was well worthy of the praise it was given.

When she came up to his table, he pulled back his hood and pulled a small vial from his piwafwi's pocket and took a swig of it. He still enjoyed drinks from the Underdark over anything here on the surface.

"You must be Aeri," he again grinned playfully. "Please have a seat. You don't have to be afraid of me..." he fumbled with a chain around his neck and showed her an amulet that hung there in the shape of Laoura's crest. "You can trust me. I'm more illusion than actual fear."

Seeing the medallion Aeri visibly relaxed and sat across from him, peering at him in wonder. She had never met a drow before now, beyond seeing one from a distance. Suddenly realizing she was staring, a light flush filled her pale cheeks. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare, I just have never... well, met a drow before... please excuse my ignorance," she blushed even more to realize she was stuttering a little.

"Why did you want to speak with me?" she asked, trying to change the subject.

He watched her discomfort with more interest than insult. "Not a problem. I am not easily offended," he laughed easily. "Not too many people have met a drow. I'm one of the few who wander the surface realms. As to the question of why I wanted to see you was because I was merely curious. You certainly do not look near as powerful as I have heard, and yet you have battled Sephiroth with great ambition. I admire that. I simply wanted to know why you fight him. Why you go through such lengths to stop his conquest."

He took another swig from his vial, letting the cool liquor burn down his throat, freezing and burning at the same time.

Aeri seemed startled at the question. The answer was obvious to her. "Because, Sephiroth cannot destroy innocence for the crimes he believes that have been committed against him. Maybe someone has wronged him, but that does not mean he has the right to kill children..." Aeri's thoughts drifted to Tristam, a ten year old whose blood was spilt by Sephiroth. She had watched him die and hadn't been able to stop it. That moment had haaunted her dreams a lot lately...

"I do not want to be in this struggle, but if I do not fight him, I wonder how many other people will fall to his hand? How many more innocents..." her words drifted off again before she spoke again.

"I never got to thank you for your help that night when he tried to burn Talas. If it hadn't been for you, those people would have been killed. Just one of a hundred examples of Sephiroth's cruelty."
